è é characters in report

Hi,
We use report builder 10.1.2. We need to print an address in europe on this report.
Report is in English. But european address has characters è é . These two characters are
not printing properly. How do you solve this to print these two characters correctly ?
Thank You,
Sruwan

Check NLS_LANG setting on your PC and compare it with the database. Is it local on your PC (in Reports Builder) or on the server where this problem occurs?
If it's just temporarily that you want to change NLS_LANG, you can use Dynamic Environment Switching:

  • How to use special characters in Report Builder

    Hi everyone,
I wonder if you guys can help me. I'm trying to change our Invoice hearders from English to Portuguese. Eg, I've changed this English heading
("FOR ACCOUNT QUERIES CONTACT") to this Portuguese heading ("PARA CONSULTAS DE CONTA CONTACTE"). So when I'm done, my entire invoice will be in Portuguese. This works fine, until I get special characters in some of the Portuguese translations. I can copy and paste the translations with special characters into Report Builder. But when I print the invoice in Oracle Apps (with a PDF output), the special characters get replaced with a "?".
    Here's an example:
< "Line No" should read "Linha nº" but it prints out as "Linha n?" > Does anybother know how I can resolve this? I'm using Report Builder: 10.1.2.3.0 on Oracle Apps: 11.5.10.2 and RDBMS : 10.2.0.4.0
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
You need to have Portuguese font installed on your machine, if you are running the report from your machine or else if you are running the same from report server then the font has to be there on the server font dir.

  • Special Characters in Report Name or Report Description(URGENT)

    Hi All,
I am using Hyperion Financial Reporting System 9 tool. Could anyone tell me what problem we face if we use special characters in report name and report description?
    Waiting for quick response.
    Regards,
    SN

when using "&" in report and folder titles we had issues with report books not being able to run and also the report name would be incorrectly described.
try to avoid if possible, there is a lower risk if using on an all windows enviroment (clients and servers) but if you have *nix OS it does introduce complexity.

    Dear All!
i've stored urdu characters in database and it's displaying correctly in form builder and Toad.
But on sql plus and in report builder some urdu characters are not displaying e.g پ،گ،ڈ،ٹ etc.
should i need to make changes in "uifont.ali" to display characters in report builder or data storage is not properly done?
or, is it just supporting arabic characters?
need immediate response to solve that.

  • Showing Japanese characters from Report Builder

Our database version is Oracle9i-9.0.1.4.0 and
we'r using the DB character set as US7ASCII and National charecter set as UTF8 (Tried with AL16UTF16 but it's supported as per Oracle-metalink). We'r using Solaris 9 (OS 5.9) to invoke the Report Builder.
Japanese characters are able to insert and select from SQL prompt using Japanese Terminal..
But from the Report builder when we run the Report, we'r seeing some junk characters. Please help if anybody has worked on showing the Japanese characters from Report builder.

  • Polish characters in Report through Report Service

    Hi,
I have problem with ias9i (9.0.2). Firstly, I have installed ias9i infrastructure and then ias9i businss logic and forms. Unfortunately when I'm running reports with polish fonts I see mysterious character which are not the same as I get used to see when everything is ok.
In all Oracle_Home I have set the same NLS_LANG. When I see source of report (JSP page) I see polish fonts correctly. I also correct
encoding to WINDOWS-1250. After I run this report using rwservlet when I see source of generated file I can notice WINDOWS-1250 but UTF-8.
    I don't understand this situation.
If Someone has any idea how I can workaround this problem I will be grateful.
    Thank You for Interest

    Thre are two issue:
    1. When you have a web layout in report with different NLS_LANG other then the default, there was an issue where the NLS_LANG was not picked properly. For this, you need to go to web view enditor and change the character set to desired NLS_LANG you need. With this, when you run the report to web, you will get the proper characters.
    2. Coming to Report servlet, it picks the locale information from machine locale and NLS_LANG specified in Reports reistery is not considered. That is the reason, you end up with UTF-8 encoding, since report servlet writes the report output by setting the http header based on machine locale where oc4j is running. This issue is resolved in Reports 9.0.2.2 patch. With this patch, you can define the desired character set in the before report value in Report escape section of report property. This remain same as it was in Reports 6i. With this, you will see the proper characters in web html output and the auto encoding in browser will work fine.
In case you wish to run the reports under different nls_lang setting from same report server, you can go for dynamic switching feature which is available from reports 9.0.2.1 patch.
    thanks

  • OC4J: Troubles with characters in Reports 9i and JSP

We are having troubles with especial characters in OC4J. Those problems appear in JSP's and Reports.
    Some information about it:
    - the especial characters in spanish are replaced by strange characters (2 chars for every especial char).
    - this happens with strings from ApplicationResources.properties (we use Struts framework) and NOT with those chars read from database via JDBC.
    - the problem doesn't happen in JDeveloper. It happens when we deploy the application to iAS 9i R2. With reports, it happens both from RWBuilder and local OC4J + RWServlet
    - When we used iAS R1 core version this didn't happen. When we changed to iAS R2 full installation (to be able to use Reports Server) it began to happen.
    Any help about it ?
    Thanks

    Hi Pozo,
Have you got the solution for the problem specified. Even I'm facing the same problem with Arabic characters.
Pl. let me know if you've got the solution.

Under this revised, would be space problem, but it gave greater scope to the report, I made the smallest point and nothing has solved the problem. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

    Hi Pat
The answer is no, not in Reports 6i.
Reports 9i, however, includes rich PDF enhancements such as Type1 font embedding and Type3 font subsetting that can be used to display Chinese characters.

  • Strange characters on report from field overrun

We have a report, created with Cystal Reports 10, that is now giving us an issue. It is displayed via web browser.
When displayed using Crystal Enterprise 10, it looks fine. But when displayed with CR XI r2 JRC, we get strange characters after the field when the field on the report is overrun. The field on the report is not formatted wide enough for all data but this has not been an issue in the past, the overrun just displayed fine.
The display we are getting looks like:
    For short data we get:
    *TEST
For longer data (overrun) we get:
    *TEST1瀲瀀猀
    That should have displayed *TEST12.
I think I can get around this by formatting the field wider (I have not tried it yet) but we wanted to know if this was a known issue with a root cause / fix.

    - The report is only generated and viewed via the web browser. A web screen takes criteria for the report data, does an SQL call to pull the data into a report table, and then calls the CR report viewer to display the data.
    - JRC is the java Runtime Component. In CR XI, a package is supplied to install as part of the web server for doing the web report viewing withut having to install CR Enterprise.
    - The original .rpt file, the report template, does not have the characters in it nor do they show up in Crystal Reports in any way that I have found to try to test.
    - With using the JRC, there is no CE10 database. As noted above, CR Enterprise is not installed. As for the database that contains the report data table, it is MS SQL Server 200 with all appropriate patches applied.
I just tested extending the display field to well longer than the data but it did not help. The strange characters are still being displayed.

  • Using national characters in Reports Parameter Form

    Hi,
I have Reports Server 11gR1. When I specify paramform=yes when running report, I get Parameters Form. If I specifiy any national character in parameter form field, it is not send to Reports Server. Instead of my character, question mark (?) is send to reports server and that lead to wrong result.
Is there any way I can use national characters in Parameter Form in Reports Server?
