E-mac 10.1.5 and new Ipod

Hi There: Having trouble installing ipod software with e-mac 10.1.5.
Anything I should or should have done first? Click on installer -screen flashes like somethings gonna happen then nothing. Thanks - CW

Anything I should or should have done first?Yes; check the iPod main page in the Apple Store, where the Mac requirements state OS X 10.3.9 or later. You can probablly find Panther 10.3 on eBay at a discount, but the full commercial version of Tiger 10.4, while not cheap, does have significant improvements over Panther. Either will make a significant upgrade from the 10.1.5 you have now. You can do an Archive and Install to perserve you existing files and data (although backing up first is of course prudent). Refer also to pgrade ! But do it right !

  • Two mac laptops, one iPhone and an iPod touch. Sync apps?

Hi there, between my wife and I, we have two Mac laptops, one iPhone and an iPod touch.  The iPod touch is new- is it possible to get the apps that have already been purchased for the iPhone, onto the iTouch?

but can i then only ever use both the iphone and itouch with that particular mac?
you can use home sharing to transfer media files (incl. apps) between the two Macs. if you and your wife use separate Apple ID's to purchase content, authorize the wife's machine for yours and yours for hers.
is there a way to make both portable devices work with both macs?
by design, iOS devices sync with only one library at a time.
i am hoping the "home sharing" feature will be the answer but so far i have not been able to make it work.

    Yes
Put all the music on one computer, make sure it is authorized for all accounts, sync.

  • My MAC won't recongise our new Ipod 5. Every time I try to update iTunes it says I need a newer version.

My MAC won't recognise our new Ipod 5. Everytime I try to update iTunes it tells me that I need a newer version.

Uopgrade your MacBook Pro to OSX 10.6.8 or higher so you can run the newest iTunes.  Snow Leopard discs cost about $20 from Apple online (not available in retail stores).

  • Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction passcode as I have never enabled it myself this has happened to my ipad2  and new iPod 4 g

Is there anyway the latest firmware could have enabled my restriction  pass code this has happened to my ipad2 and new iPod 4g,I have not set these codes but I ALLWAYS use the same 4digit numbers  and when I enter these I tells me I have made 4 attempts, what is the correct way to resolve this, does it mean a reset or restore, wonder if this has been a problem with other users as I mentioned I have never set these codes because I have no need to as I am the only user on my iPad and iPod.

I have seen other users report this very same issue after an update. Unfortunately, if you don't have the passcode to unlock restrictions, you have to restore the device as new in order to gain access again. If you restore from a backup - the passcode will still be in that backup and you will end up right where you started.
But in your case, you were not using a passcode, so I am hoping that you have a backup that predates the backup from when you updated the device. If you have multiple backups, you can restore from an older backup that should not contain that passcode and then you should be OK.
Do you backup with iTunes? If you do - go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and see if there is any older backup in that window - other than the one from when you updated the iPad iOS.
Have you restarted or reset the iPad since you updated? It's worth a shot to try. I don't think it will change this situation, but they are both easy and harmless to do.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Bought a new computer, and new ipod 160 GB. I went to sync all my music and it's telling me that the computer isn't authorized. I authorize it, by going to store and authorize this computer, and it still won't let me sync these songs

Think you got to reboot or relaunch iTunes after the Authorization.

  • Different power requirements between 3G and newer iPods?

Can anyone inform me as to whether there is any input power
requirement difference between the 3G and newer "dock connector" iPods? I'm wondering why Griffin Tech sells a PowerPod car power cord for the 3G and earlier dock models and a PowerJolt for the 4G and 5G dock models and Shuffle. If there is no power difference, I'd like to buy the PowerJolt, and use it for both my 3G dock model and my Shuffle, without buying 2 different car power adapters. Any light that can be
shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I answered my own question. I found my 3 year old owner's manual and found the page where it noted that the iPod will NOT charge the battery when connected via USB to dock cable. Concluding that I probably would not damage my iPod, I tried connecting the PowerJolt, and, as suspected, the iPod does NOT charge. The Griffin Tech solution for vehicle power for the 3G iPod REQUIRES PowerPod.

  • ITunes 10.4 and new iPod

I'm hoping someone here might have some thoughts on the following.  I just got a new Air (with 10.7 preinstalled), as well as a new ipod shuffle for running.  I was able to connect the shuffle once and have it show up in itunes.  I didn't have any music on the air at that time, so I just let the shuffle charge.  Now, several hours later, I've gone back to try to sync music.  Everytime I connect the shuffle, itunes instantaneously crashes.  Oddly, the same thing doesn't happen with itunes 10.4 on my other mac (with OS X 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 installed), and I am able to sync my iphone with the air fine.  I've tried reinstalling itunes to no avail.  Anyone else have some ideas?
    Thanks,
    Charlie

  • ITunes 7 and new iPod not playing video

    OK here's my other problem:
I have a new iPod, and have downloaded iTunes 7 and Tiger.
I've downloaded a video from iTunes (Michael Jackson's Thriler).
But when I double click on it in 'purchased', it won't play. Nothing happens, no icon, nothing.
Then when I restarted I got a message after iPod syncing that said 'Thriller' not transferred because iPod cannot play it'.
Any idea why?! I thought that's what I paid for...!

I am having a similar problem.  I downloaded a song from iTunes a few minutes ago, but when I went to listen it, only part of the song plays.  The song is abut 2:50 in length, but skips to another song in the playlist at about 1:30.  It seems to pick the song it skips to rather randomly, fwiw!
Can I try downloading the song again, or will iTunes charge me for it a second time?

  • IPod touch battery and new ipod touch repairing decision

    Hi,
I have an iPod touch 4th generation(8gb)that I have had for about 2 years. A few months ago I noticed something wrong with it. Whenever I kept the battery fully charged it decided to shut off by it's self even when it acted fully charged. Now I'm trying to decided if I can actually get a professional to repair the battery for it or if it's best to get a new iPod touch. Otherwise I don't know what else I can do. My warranty expired so I'm thinking getting a new battery will not be free either way. I don't think there's water damage unless if there is I don't know where to look on the iPod. Need help to figure out what I should do about the battery because the buttons and screen is fine I think it's just the battery that is the problem. Although I did hear about the next ios7 or something, but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with this. I've asked a worker in an iPhone repair shop place about this problem and they agreed it has to do with the battery. No matter how many times I have kept it charged fully or started charging it won't stay on unless it stays charging.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. If onoly a battery than battery replacement is an option. Apple might tell yo what is wrong so you can them make an informed decision.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. If only the battery  is bad then the exchange price is $79. They do not fix yours.

  • Old ipod account and new ipod

I had an old ipod which crapped out and could not be connected to the computer. When I bought a new ipod, plugged into the same computer, it sync'ed fine using the old account. So I bought an album on iTune, however, after the download was done and paid for, these song can not be transfered to my new ipod.
Can someone show me how to fix this?
    Thanks

The only solution that I can think of that is possible would be to burn a cd with the album that you bought, then you turn around and burn that back onto the hard drive in itunes. Then it recognizes it as a cd and not a purchased album. I hope that works!

  • 3g firewire dock and new ipod

My 3g iPod (10gig) died just in time for Chirstmas. Will the firewire dock that came with it work with the new iPods? I prefer firewire to usb and don't what to have to purchase one since Apple stopped shipping with them. Please help.

It will only work for charging your iPod.
The new iPods do not support any type of data transfer via Firewire. They are USB only.
