E Mac Upgrade fiasco

Last night, Software Update suggested updating my 1Ghz eMac with 768RAM running OS X 10.4.11 for Quicktime and a new security update.
After running the update, the computer will not start up. Sometimes it hangs on the blue screen. Sometimes the start up gets as far as the desktop and then the finder will not start up. The beach ball appears and spins, the menu bar appears and disappears, the HD icons flash on and off, the desktop window opens and closes. I had to shut the computer off by pressing and holding the power button down.
I checked this forum for information. I thought that I could start up from the Tiger Disk and do a disk repair. The permissions were repaired and the drive was reported as "OK." That didn't work. The eMac still wouldn't start up and the previous start up issues were not resolved.
Then I thought I could reinstall Tiger. I tried "Archive & Install" and at the end of the installation, I got "There were errors in the installation process - Try Again." I tried again and when I tried to run disk utility, I got the spinning beach ball for 20 minutes. I had to shut the computer off by pressing and holding the power button down. I tried installing again and got the "errors during installation" message.
Now when I try to start up from the Tiger DVD, the installer hangs up.
As far as I can determine, my eMac's serial number is not one the eMacs with all the hardware problems and I have NEVER had any issues with this machine during the four years I've owned it until now.
Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

An attempt to Start Up in Safe Mode in unlikely to do anything, since there have already been two failed attempts to do an Archive and Install. One thing that comes to mind: how much free space is there on your hard drive? An A&I creates a Previous System Folder; between that and temporary scratch space for expanding image files, you should have at least 5 GB free space on the hard drive to successfully perform an A&I.
You can try using one of the other Macs listed in your profile as the Host to boot the eMac as the target in FireWire target disk mode. You can then check the amount of free space on the eMac hard drive, and use Disk Utility on the host Mac to run Disk Utility's Repair Disk on the target eMac. Be sure to check the eMac's SMART status, and if any repairs are reported, repeat Repair Disk until no problems are found or no further repairs can be made. Note: the Host Mac used to run Disk Utilitu should also be running Tiger 10.4; see Only use Mac OS X 10.4-compatible disk utilities with Mac OS X 10.4 volumes.
You can use the Tiger Install DVD on the Host to install to the eMac target. If space is an issue, use the Options in the Tiger Installer to add only the languages you actually expect to use. Paring unused languages can shave about 1 GB from the space required to complete the installation.

Is anyone else having Config error 16 issue when trying to start PSE 12 or Premier Elements 12 after the Mac upgrade to OS X Yosemite 10.10 on iMac. I have had a number of issues with software and things after upgrading to OS X Yosemite 10.10 and even 10.10.1. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both PSE 12 and Premier Elements 12 a number of times and everything goes fine until its ready to launch and then you get an error message. Numerous uninstalled and reinstalls don't removing the problem. Strangely enough PSE 11 still appears to boot up and I never owned Premier Elements 11 so I don't know if it will start. I thought with Apple dropping its Apeture software and greater integration of iPhoto and Apeture files into Lightroom 5.7 all would be harmonious between these two players. Im not sure where Adobe wants us to go it recently removed the plugin to allow you to update files from LR to Adobe Revel, whats up with that. I now own two version of Adobe software that no longer work with my Mac and now way of uploading pictures from Lightroom to Revel. Needless to say I am pretty reluctant to sign on to a subscription of Creative Cloud with long term financial obligations when I can't even get my current Adobe software to work independently much less integrate with Lightroom. Frustrated with it all!

Get rid of 'put disks to sleep when possible' and you may see a dramatic improvement (not necessarily a cure).
That specific problem is a multiple-Processor (including graphics processor) problem, where one of the processors lost track of whether it should be responding to interrupts. You may have a Hardware problem.

PC to Mac upgrade of Acrobat X

When installing Acrobat X Pro (Mac) upgrade, the installation lists only Mac versions to upgrade from and will not accept Windows Acrobat 8 or 9 Pro serial numbers for upgrading from. The Adobe website does not state this limitation in the upgrade requirements for Acrobat X Pro. Are cross-platform upgrades no longer allowed? I haven't had this problem previously with PS in CS5.

They are allowed, but need to be handled via Adobe directly since they require issuing a completely new set of serials. Call support by phone ASAP.

Don't know who you are or who you're with, sorry to have caused trouble. But, the problem is with Adobe. Either they offer an upgrade or they don't. It is very convoluted and frustrating on the website, they owe users more!!!!!! I followed THEIR links to this forum and posted my question. I would think that if you are with Adobe at least you would provide a link rather than angry criticism.

No, forget it. Adobe only sells current versions. How would you even be able to buy a used upgrade that is tied to someone else's previous version? Makes no sense at all and is clearly a breach of the EULA - whoever may sell you this "upgrade" would have to include all his previous versions leading up to that point, making it a completely independent full license that has no relation whatsoever to your CS4. And you would still have to run the license transfer drill.

Mac upgrade to Yosemite, Adobe Indesign CS5 keyboard shortcuts not working - t for text - z for zoom - v for pointer etc

So I upgraded my MACBOOK PRO (Retina, Mid 2012) 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7
to MAC OS X YOSEMITE
Adobe Indesign CS5 generally works with some very annoying bugs.
All major keyboard shortcuts that use a single key command have stopped working. and these happen to be the main ones I use all the time for editing...
t for text
z for zoom
v for pointer
It's annoying because now I have to keep going back to the tool bar to change my cursor selection. It's just slowing me down.
Annoying but workable.
Has anyone else go this issue?
An update or fix would be greatly appreciated.

They logged in to my computer via team viewer
installed utorrent
and proceed to download a cracked version of adobe cs6
in the mean time saying on skype that Adobe no longer has Adobe CS6 on their server.
This seemed very OFF to me and I disconnected the skype (and blocked Adobe Systems) and disconnected TeamViewer
If I wanted a cracked version of Adobe CS6 I'm very capable of doing this kind of thing my self
However I run a business I want to have a legitimate licensed copy of the software running for my staff.
They were offering a fully licensed version of a Adobe Master Suite CS6 with my own unique ID for USD$400
Again very OFF considering the upgrade from Adobe from Indesign CS5 to CS6 is almost AUD$1600

Photoshop CS2 and mac upgrade to OS 10.6 ?

I just upgraded my imac to OS 10.6 and now my Photoshop CS2 tries to open but then closes down suddenly. My Illustrator works fine.

When you installed OSX 10.6 it doesn't install Rosetta by default.
Rosetta is necessary to run Power PC applications in 10.6 on Intel Macs
You need to use your OSX install disk and just install Rosetta
Then without opening PS, Click the PS CS2 application icon in the Finder (the application not the folder) use Get Info (command I) and make sure "Open using Rosetta" is checked.
Snow Leopard OSX 10.6 is the last version of OSX that still has Rosetta and you won't be able to use any more OSX upgades.
You should either upgrade to CS6 or you will be stuck using Snow Leopard forever. CS2 is already out of the upgrade path.

Might work; might not. Legacy apps (CS2, 3, 4) that weren't built to run on modern operating systems may have trouble with Mavericks. I think you'll be OK with CS5, 6 and CC.

Acrobat X Pro Mac upgrade from 9 Pro Ex PC

I had been running Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on my PC and when I recently went back to a Mac, Adobe sales said I could just buy an upgrade and enter my old serial number and it'd all be good. Doesn't like my old serial number as it wants a Pro version from the Mac for a serial number to upgrade from. In need of getting this working ASAP and have been on ignore with tech support for the past 30 minutes after being told it would be a 3-6 minute wait. What do I do?

Mac: Upgrading PS CS2 to PS CS3; LR sees CS3 - what I did.

After reading several threads asking about upgrading from CS2 to CS3 and how that impacts LR, I decided to bite the bullet and did things the way I wanted. Here are my results for a MacBookPro 2 GB ram, core duo:
* I first deactived CS2, since I didn't want to keep it. Might use it on another mac.
* I then used App Zapper to uninstall CS2. This deletes the app's folder along with folders in the library or other files related to CS2.
* Installed PSCS3 extended and activated.
Finally invoked LR and chose an image. When I clicked on the Photo menu item, a submenu item was "edit in Adobe Photoshop CS3" (no reference to CS2). I tested it and sure enough, it all worked.

Also realize that although a few Adobe employees may be kind enough to visit the forums on their own time, this is a user to user forum and not a direct route to Adobe support. So, no one here has control over the KB.

Swapping license from windows to mac/upgrade?

Purchased CS5 (WIn) Student and teacher edition. I have subsequently gone to university and use a Mac.
Is it possible to swap the license to CS5 mac and download the software?
If not, how much does it cost to upgrade to CS6 and is this available on DVD media?

There are no upgrades with further S&T discounts. That being so, you would simply buy a CS6 version for Mac. There are no disks, just downloads these days (unless you buy a retail package with a code, but those get fewer every day as stock runs out).

PC to Mac Upgrade

I just made the move from a Windows PC to a Mac. I currently use LR 1.x on the PC. Can I upgrade to LR 2.0 on the Mac or do I need to buy the "full" version?

The Lightroom Serial number is cross platform. You can have one copy on a PC and one on a Mac (you are aloud to copies, not used at the same time), as in a LAptop and a Desktop.
So LSS, go for the Upgrade.

you can install the upgrade without installing the previous version.
you will be prompted for both serial number. be sure to use them in the correct order.

Office '04 is not compatible. '08 and '11 are (though I think there are a few compatability issues with '08).

Adobe CS5 MC Win to Adobe CS5 MC Mac Upgrade

Firstly, I am in India.
I asked this on chat with customer service they asked me to contact reseller regarding product swap for this, but when I contacted one listed they said that its not possible as Adobe CS5 isn't available anymore and only CS5.5 is + they don't know if cross-os upgrade is actually possible, but since I got new macbook pro due to (better backup feature and iOS development etc) I want to get my Adobe Master Collection from my old PC to new Macbook pro and I don't wanted to go for cs5.5 due to money issue(I would sit tight for cs6). I even contacted few other resellers and distributors it seems they are not quiet interested in this deal (passing from one person to another). What should I do?.

I made another post regarding this and other issue I got due to this issue that is 'upgrading to cs5.5 first' I got that one resolved and after 3 weeks I get that product + a two week of searching around and asking resellers if they are interested in selling one. Adobe's India head alteready made contact with me regarding this issue.
For first issue that is switing to mac, I followed Bob's advice temporarly and got creative suite on bootcamp so that I can start working on projects. Meanwhile I am in middle of a project so I can't sign LOD and not use software for a week or two (might take longer since 1 week is wait time in US). I will sign LOD in next 3 weeks most probably and wait for mac version.
