E-mail account deleted-old emails come in when restored

I have email on my PC and don't want to bother with it on my IPhone 3G so I deleted the account. When I wanted to use the IPhone email while on a trip, all the 500 emails downloaded on the phone. Needless to say, this is not what I wanted. How can I keep this from happening? Thanks!!

Thanks for the info. I did what you said and I still got 1800 old messages on my IPhone. I guess what I needed to do per Apple support was go to "Outlook, email, tools, account settings, advanced" and check "delete from server when deleted items folder is emptied". That way, the messages are no longer on the server and will not be loaded onto my Iphone when I re-establish the account. I don't use my Iphone for email very often so this works when I travel.

Hi there, this problem has probably been resolved now, but I must say that I came across these posts today as I had the same problem, my old e mail kept popping up, but all sorted now! Old Apps are not tied to the old Apple ID, honestly!
Rudegar is so right, all you do is go the SETTINGS/iTunes & App Store, then select `Apple ID` `Sign Out` then you get the chance to enter your new ID, and it worked a treat!
Good luck with anyone else with this problem, as I spent so long on this, really stupid!

You would create a rule that runs an applescript to do the rest of what you want. Since you don't want to use an applescript, I can't help.
You might want to search around for a third-party plugin that might do what you want.

I am having the same issue and it started the same day. My other mac does it as well but has been an issue for two years. I just gave up on it and stopped using email from that mac. OK...now I appear to 'progressed' I changed my email address back to original on Apple id and then was able to delete icloud account. Apparently I couldnt do it as it kept requesting password when I entered passsword ( both old and new one, it wouldnt accept it as it had my old email address in ) It didnt do that on ios6 . Anyway I deleted account, but now I tried to login in with my new id/password and it says unable as already in use!!! More help needed please! Its a nightmare!!

Edit the list the comes up when you go to the Window menu and select "Previous Recipients".

Old emails come back marked as "new"

I have had 2 comcast email accounts on my phone for years, all of a sudden one of them started reloading old emails that had already been read and marking them as new. I deleted the account like 3 times and re-added but every time, the old emails come back. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening on one comcast account but not the other.
I read one one of the past discussions that you can change a setting for archives or something but I can't find that option on my phone or in my email account.

Hi. I am sorry you are having issues with your email and I can certainly look into it for you. When did this start happening? Dif you download any applications before this started happening? Try to delete that particular email account and set it up again to see if that works.

Mail keeps deleting my emails automatically

Hi, when I open my mail, all my new emails come and they stay on my Mac, but when I open my pc and go to msn, or hotmail, i see that almost all my emails are deleted, even if I didn't delete them with mail. I stopped using mail for a month, and all my newly received emails and the older ones are there and nothing is deleted.
Is there anyway to keep mail from deleting my emails?
I'm using iMac with snow leopard 10.6 and hotmail for my email account. Thanks

Delete old email address from cache on a MAC

Has there been a solution to delete old email addrss from the cache on a MAC? I'm not talking about iPhone or iPad devices. The last discussion on this topic was back in 2012 and it doesn't look as if this was resolved.
Bottom line, when you create an email on the mac, the auto fill pulls up every email address for an individual (current or not). The correct email address are in the contacts, but the cache is storing the really old address.
Suggestions are welcome.
