E-mail account on a curve 8520

I recently bought a curve 8520 as a replacement for my broken HTC to last me until my upgrade comes through. I've tried to set up my e-mail account but even though I'm entering the right e-mail address and password it is telling me its wrong and it keeps doing it. Can any one help??

I had the same problem, although I'm on tmobile I'm pretty sure its the same fix. Call customer support and ask them to reset your email preferences, make sure you tell them your on a blackberry.
Hope this helps!

    Hello!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a Push-email enabled BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • Re: BB curve-8520 :Unable to see the option "add existing e-mail account" in the e-mail set up wizard

    Hi there!
This is Md. Ashikur Rahman purchased a BB curve , model-8520 from India. Now I am in bangladesh & my service provider is Grameenphone. In the e-mail setup wizard I can see only one option which requires BB enterprise password to complete the set up. I think the other option- 'Add existing e-mail account' is locked.
My service provider is unable to unlock. How can I use that option so I can complete my e-mail set up & comunicate over internet?
    Thanks.
    Ashikur

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Your service provider is exactly that...the provider of all of your services. If they cannot delivery PUSH email to you (or, for that matter, any other BIS-level services), then there's nothing anyone else can do.

  • E-mail problem on curve 8520

    Hi
    in details
a new blackberry device has been detected. You must move your email accounts to receive email on this device.
To move an email account , you will need to type the email password,
basically after i click on move email account it takes me to the next page and i input my password and click on validate,
it gives me an invalid email password where i am 100 % sure that its correct i tried it like 4 times i even went and changed my password on my Hotmail and applied the new password still same error,
my Question is can't i delete my email account and start a new one if i could please guide me..
i had 3 e mail account and all were working fine till i changed my bb device to another curve 8520

Can you actually login to your hotmail account? If the actual hotmail password is different than what your trying to put into your phone, they wont match up. Try logging into your hotmail account from your pc and see what happens. If you can login, change password back to how it was for when you set it up for your device. If you cant login to your hotmail account, try to reset password by clicking on the 'forgot password' link. See if you can change it back to what it was when you set up the email account on your phone.
It also states in your last image that, if the problem persists; to contact hotmail.com

But when I’m in the email setup, the only option I have is the “I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server.

From your description, perhaps TMO has changed the method you need to do this? Have you contacted them, as per the information provided to you? After all, it's a TMO system you are attempting to interact with, is it not?

  • Impossible to see/change my e-mail account with Curve 9300

Since a recent provider problem (Telekom Germany), I have been unable to download programmes or receive e-mails via this account. However, all attempts to verify and adjust my e-mail settings via the Curve 9300 have failed. Problem: Whenever is go to Einrichten (install)/E Mail settings and type in my user name (=e-mail address), the phone says: "User name void. Please enter a valid user name". Now I know that the user name is correct since it is entered like this in the Blackberry ID application. I am at my wit's end. Where is my mistake? Thank you.

  • Configure e-mail Curve 8520

Hello I would like to configure my Gmail account on my BB Curve 8520, but in the phone I only have the option to configure with an BB entreprise server.

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Community Support Forums.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as additional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your post, I cannot quite tell the specific process you are attempting...so I will give you everything...
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/software/desktop.html
    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    6) Disconnect your PC from the internet and turn off all radios on your BB (consider also removing the SIM...not likely necessary, but just in case)
76a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
7b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
If, during the processes of 7a or 7b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Trying to link Curve 9320 phone to home e-mail account

Trying to do above and not succeeding using the phone. Seems like it is going to work and then comes up with connection failed message. I initially tried doing it through Virgin but they said i have to do it through Blackberry!?
    Any advice gratefully received.
    David Gittins.

    Hello,
Knowing only what you've said, all I can think of to give you are instructions. From merely "connection failed", there's nothing specific that I can find for your situation. Hence:
KB33472 How to integrate a Google Apps email account using Microsoft ActiveSync
KB04478 Integrate POP accounts with the BlackBerry Internet Service
KB15499 How to set up a BlackBerry Internet Service email address from the BlackBerry smartphone
KB10154 How to integrate a POP or IMAP email account through advanced integration
Sorry, but not knowing what your "home e-mail account" is, I can only provide you with that "shotgun" approach...hopefully you can figure out which might be applicable.
You also can try, from your BB Browser, this URL:
    www.blackberry.com/integrate
You can also try, from a PC/browser, your carriers BIS website...if they have one...they would have to tell you that.
The last resort is to ring up your carrier and have them do it...which is risky since that means revealing your email credentials.
    karadza wrote:

I'm not at all sure what that agent was trying to tell you...BlackBerry does not host BIS/email for customers, the carriers all do that, and each controls their own BIS system. But, if you are indeed subscribed to an adequate data plan to enable email (there are many different plan levels) and your carrier cannot get it working for you, then they should escalate your case up to BlackBerry -- only they have a formal channel to do that, end users can't bypass their carrier and receive any support from BlackBerry directly.
    Good luck!

  • Changed mail account on gmail and can't get my mail account activated anymore on my bb

    Hi,
Close to getting grey hairs now  ...
I have a BB Curve 8520 ... and I'm using my gmail account as mail on my bb - today i changed my gmail password though and can't get any more messages into my gmail account any longer now (WTF did i change my password for ???). I tried to add my gmail account as my bb says that an email address does not currently exists for my bb device ... so when i try to add my gmail account and select 'gmail' in my email setup, add my email address and password it says ! Update failed ...
Anyone any solutions to this problem pls ...
Facebook, internet, BBM .. still working ..
thx a lot in advance !

If you select a mailbox, you should get an Edit button (easier to see in landscape mode). Clicking the button will provide you with check circles for the messages. You also get Delete and Move buttons at the bottom. Check the messages you want to move and then navigate to the mailbox you want to drop them into. I think as long as you can navigate to a mailbox you can move the messages to it.
In the Mac Mail application and probably Outlook on the Windows side, you also setup rules to move messages to specific mailboxes. If the mailboxes are stored on the server, then you can have the sorting done on the server and they should appear that way on the iPad. If your later messages do not show up, you may need to have the iPad app pulled down more messages until they are all showing.

I'm having trouble getting my official e mails configured to new handset.  I have changed my BB id password online but when the same is fed into the handset it rejects. I have used 7 attempts already.. Pearl 9100 was used by my husband earlier and had his id configured which i have erased.
    Can some one help ?

  • Email problem on Curve 8520

Hi I am having a frustrating problem using my Curve 8520 for my University email account.  The email is set up as IMAP as my university does not support the BES.  When I open or delete an email on the Curve these changes will show up on my PC when I use that to access my account.  However if I open or delete an email using Outlook 2010 on my PC this does not get reflected on the BlackBerry (ie emails still show as unread, deleted emails still there etc).  This did not happen when I was using my old Nokia 97 (or the N95 before that).  At first I thought it was an Outlook problem (as I have recently upgraded form 2007 to 2010) but when I log on using the University web mail, any changes made in Outlook 2010 are there.
Is there some setting needs changed on the phone?

It seems there is no solution to this problem  Despite supposedly being the email phone the BlackBerry only supports full synchronization from phone to server and not the other way when set up with BIS for IMAP accounts!
