E-mail addresses used in Outlook messages automatically copied to my iPhone contacts

Hi,
All the e-mail addresses I use in my daily use of Outlook/Exchange e-mail get automatically copied into my iPhone's contact list. I have never entered any of these e-mails as "contacts" - but the e-mail addresses get copied anyway.
I read some threads here - and followed one suggestion, to no avail. The suggestion was to, in my iPhone, go into Settings > Mail Contacts Calendars > My E-Mail Account > Turn off "Contacts". This didn't work. It merely removed all the legitimately synched contacts.

I had the same problem. And yes they did go into my Contacts. They were shown as new contacts with the contact name being the email address I had used. The number of cards showing in contacts increased by over 100. I am familiar with the previous recipients list in Mail and this was not the issue.
I found that the problem was related to the fact that I was using Exchange. I went into System Preferences, selected Internet Accounts, selected Exchange and unticked the Contacts box. Result - the additional email addresses disappeared from my Contacts.

Apple mail is using my outlook database

Hi: I'm just setting up a new Macbook running 10.5 and Apple Mail 7.3. This is a work computer and it has Microsoft Outlook for Mac 14.4.5 installed. When I type an e-mail address in mail, the autocompletes that are provided are all the e-mail addresses from my Outlook Address Book. I've tried this solution http://www.marco.org/2011/09/10/adding-to-apple-mail-autocomplete to try to establish my old auto-complete file, but Mail isn't recognizing that file. It's still accessing auto-completes from the Outlook database of work contacts. Any suggestions?

Remove the account and put it back again, use Internet Accounts (in System Preferences) to do this.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you should definitely be seeing a plus sign after tapping Edit, so I would try a couple relatively easy things (closing the Music app, resetting the iPhone):

How do i type an e-mail address as a new message if I want to send an imessage?

I'm pretty sure I activated iMessage onto my iphone 4 but when I go to create a new message, it doesn't give me an option to send it as an e-mail address. The only thing i can do is type a number or a name. Anyone having the same problem? or did i miss out something in the settings?

In Acrobat Pro, open the form and go to the Advanced menu and choose enable usage rights for Reader users.
Now, they will be able to fill out the form and save it to send it back to you in an email.
Be aware that there is a 500 use per form limit so this isn't a good answer for high volume use forms.

I receive a text from someone but it has an e-mail address at top of message. When I reply and send , it gets returned. Why? and how was original message sent?

I have downloaded I-Cloud and the new ios program. Where do my text go through now if they don't show up on my bill in the data usage section? When I get a text from friends sometime their e-mail address shows at the top of the message instead of their name like it use to. Then when I reply it gets returned. You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself. But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message. If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally. Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.

what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
(I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

User exit to change vendor e-mail address used for PO output via e-mail...

We have two vendor e-mail addresses for a particular vendor. Ignoring output determination, it looks like I will need to control which of the two e-mail vendor addresses is used when the PO is output via e-mail.
The default is the first one e-mail address, but for PO's I would like to force the second vendor e-mail address.
There are tonnes of exits available for PO output by the looks of it so I am trying to discover which is relevant for what I am trying to achieve.

I guess that's the same path that I took earlier when using SPRO and looking at the Purchasing->Messages. In my case it's ZMEDRUCK, but that does not help me in regards to controlling the vendors e-mail address being used. When sending the PO as an e-mail it uses (by default) the first e-mail address of the Vendor, whereas the vendor could have multiple ones. In my test case my vendor has two addresses but it always defaults to using the first. I know that I need to modify this behaviour somehow, but how I have no idea as I can find no Exit routine.

The [email protected] account creates a new folder in my Outlook, that does not sync with my other/standard e-mail address.
I want to use my iPhone as a full sync mirror copy of my "old" standard outlook 2010 e-mail process.
That includes that people contact me and receive replies through my "old" e-mail address.
So my question is: how to use iPhone with my old e-mail address if iCloud communicates with [email protected] only ?

Perhaps I don't understand your question. Above you mention "i mail"; I'm assuming you meant "iMessage". If that is want you meant, then have you turned iMessage to On in Settings>Messages? And if so, does it say anything just below the iMessage On/Off button (such as "waiting for activation")?

Can't send e-mails via Mail with a Gmail e-mail address using Sky internet

Can anyone help? My brother has an iBook G4 Mac OS X 4.1 and is trying to send e-mails via Mail with a Googlemail e-mail account. He is using Sky for his broadband. I assume it has something to do with his outgoing smtp e-mail Preferences in Mail, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. He can receive e-mails OK, its just that when he tries to send he gets the 'server can't send error'. Any ideas?

POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.
