E-mail alert from Apple re: iCloud storage

I have two Apple (.me) mail accounts.  One iCloud account, though.
Today I got an e-mail saying that I have reached 4.9 out of my 5.0 Gig storage in iCloud.  However, when I go to my iCloud account (through System Preferences), it shows I have 24 GB available.
I'm confused.....
Does my second e-mail account only have a 5GB limit.  Is it a separate account from my main address?  And, if so, how do I access it (as opposed to the main address) to manage the storage for that account?
Thanks.
Steve

By default an icloud account has only 5GB allocated.  Judging by the email and your viewing of 24 GB free, I'd guess you have two icloud accounts.  The icloud account associated with your mac seems to have 24 GB available, and the email may be refering to a second account that one of your devices may be associated with.  Check each iOS device and verify what icloud account (ID) they are connected to.
You say "Does my second e-mail account only have a 5GB limit." - if you do have a second email account, then you probably have two icloud accounts (unless the second email ID is an alias of the first).

  • Has anyone else received a phishing, "Urgent Alert From Apple Support"? It came to my actual iCloud email address.

The message is very clearly bogus, full of errors of every kind, right from the start: "Dear Apple Custumer,"
The fact that it came to my own iCloud address worries me since usually such schemes are to a broad group, like "[email protected]"
I have forwarded the email, with Long Headers, to the fraud-combating websites. Can't find any hint on apple.com/support as to where at Apple itself to direct it.

YES today in the UK, the email text is as below, together with several Links to "Apple" sites and an Apple logo and European support address.
Fairly crude but could fool naive users.
Any one know how to get to the addresses behind the links without clicking them?  Just copying and pasting as plain text doesn't seem to work. Any other way just copies the Hyperlink.

Someone who receives my mail sent from Apple Mail cannot receive attachments or read my email even though they are on a Mac using Safari.  How could they be using Safari to receive or read my mail?

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.  This person receiving my email,  while on a Mac with Safari is reading their mail through Safari using Horde--our recent discovery.  Why they chose to do that in unclear. The last email we sent, however, was miraculously read and received and  the attachment was viewed with no problem after we told them our mail was coming from a Mac thriugh Apple Mail.  It seems that telling them that our emails were coming from a Mac and using Apple Mail was enough to make them think that perhaps THEY were doing something not quite right. Thank you both, Level 7 and Level 5.

  • Apple says "iCloud storage is full" when it is not

I just got email from Apple <[email protected]> saying "You have now exceeded your iCloud storage".  But the bar on any of my devices as well as on my Mac says I have 2.9 Gb available of 5 Gb!  The individual imtes (Backup, data, email) only adds to ~2Gb so 2.9Gb free sounds correct. Something does not compute.  Any ideas?  The message is pretty stern: "As a result, you will not be able to send or receive new email messages with your iCloud email address until you free up storage space or buy more storage."

I just got the same e-mail.  My account seems to be sending and receiving emails without issue.  I think it was an error.  I received a warning and an exceeds e-mail in the same minute, but am only using 20% of my allocation.
I'm not giving it much credence.

  • TS3992 I'm getting messages from Apple that iCloud backup is full but it shows I have 3GB left

I just started getting emails from Apple that I won't be able to send or receive messages thru my account because I have exceeded my storage capacity. When I go to the iCloud settings and go to manage my storage I see I have 3.1GB remaining. I called Apple and they said I need to clear out my folders in mail. I told her it says I only have 376mb of mail in my backup. She told me I needed to clean out all of my folders, which I pain stakingly did but I get an email this morning telling me I have the same problem with storage but I still show over 3GB left in my storage. Has anyone run into this? What am I supposed to do? I feel they are making me upgrade before I need to.

  • E-mail disappeared from Apple Mail in Mavericks

    Hello,
I think I experienced a bug yesterday in Apple Mail (I am running Mac OS X 10.9):
While organizing my e-mails, I made a new folder in my iCloud account in Apple Mail. Let's call it "Apple". Then I used the search function to find the e-mails (within my iCloud account) with a certain keyword (let's say "Pear") in order to transfer those e-mails to the "Apple" folder.
I dragged the first "Pear" conversation into the "Apple" folder. The conversation then disappeared briefly from the search results. At that moment I wanted to select the second "Pear" conversation, but in the meantime the first "Pear" conversation had been processed in the "Apple" folder and reappeared in the search results.
So I accidentally clicked again on the first "Pear" conversation and dragged it again to the "Apple" folder (even though it was already filed there) and at that moment the whole conversation disappeared. I did not manage to retrieve the messages from this conversation thereafter. I looked for them with Spotlight, in the trash, I restarted Apple Mail... Then I tried to rescue them from my iPhone but the disappearance had already synchronized to iCloud and deleted them from my phone as well.
As they are all recent messages I can't retrieve them from my Time Machine, as I only backup once a week. Furthermore, I was able to reproduce the behavior on other e-mails by using the search function and dragging an e-mail to its own folder again.
    Can anyone else reproduce this?
And does anyone know how to proceed in order to retrieve the e-mails? They were not yet on my Time Machine as they are all very recent e-mails, but they are replies to my wedding save the date message so would like them back very much....
Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm practically Amish when it comes to this stuff so I'm limited to opening and deleting (I've got a ton of e mails in my deleted account and its not there either.
    Thank you for the input

  • IPad Mail messages from Apple mail

New ipad getting 10,000 old messages from Apple Mail application (or Comcast server). How do I stop it and get only new messages as of today?

These are emails stored in the Sent folder in Mail, in 2 email accounts. Some are quite old, some recent. In addition, the Mail Inboxes were emptied, leaving only those emails that had been unopened. Those still on the server (I looked at Get Account Info in mail on different Mac to identify which) were downloaded and are in place in the ipad . In short, those lost were emails received and sent, stored locally on the ipad.
When I did the update, it said there was an error so I had to backup and restore, via itunes. I thought emails would be backed up in this proces. I don't use icloud. Thanks

  • E-mail Alerts from Essbase Cubes

    Hi,
I have Essbase 7.1.3 windows server and We do lots of Cube processing through Batch Files.
I would like to have an option to send email alerts to the business users once we are done with the processing.
Say for example , I have a Deposits Essbase cube and once i am done with the calculation and Enable connects to the users i would like to send a mail notification " The Deposit Cube now available....."
Essbase have some thing called " Triggers..." But i am not sure how far will it help me.
    Looking forward for your inputs.
    Thnx,
    MS

Okay, yes, I still use esscmd, so this example is for an esscmd script (some day I will convert them, I promise...).
The shell (batch) script that I use calls esscmd to do the job, and then scans the script (using the for command) for tokens. These tokens determine who gets an email depending on the outcome of the script. By encoding the messaging into the script, I can control the business logic at an appropriate level. The TITLE token is also used during the notification, but I left the logic out that builds the SUBJECT variable (for brevity)...
:TITLE Load Budget data to Daily Trends
    :Job Notifications:
    :ONERR [email protected]
    :ONERR [email protected]
    :ONSUCCESS [email protected]
    :ONSUCCESS [email protected]
    :ONSUCCESS [email protected]
    :ONSUCCESS [email protected]
    LOGIN "LocalHost" "<superuser>" "<superpassword>";
... etc. Here is the relevant part of the shell job that scans for tokens (the RESULT environment variable is set to either "ERR" or "SUCCESS" based on the output, with other variables set as needed):
    TYPE %SCRFILE% | FIND ":ON%RESULT%" >Notify.tmp
    FOR /f "tokens=2" %%a in (Notify.tmp) DO SendEmail -f %FROM% -t %%a -u "%SUBJECT%" -m "%MESSAGE%" -s %RELAY% -a %ATTACH%
    ERASE /Q Notify.tmp
