E-mail and Web Browser Programs

After a year of using my Blackberry Curve 8330 on the Sprint network, I think that I have uncovered most of the flaws in this machine and its software. With another year to go on my contract, I'm looking for some software advice/alternatives to help make the next year more tolerable. I find the e-mail and browser programs that come standard on this dumbphone to be just a step or two below dreadful. I'm very disappointed that Blackberry does not include better software with their phones!
When I go to a website or get an e-mail with photos either in it or attached to it, all I get are a bunch of empty boxes with some gibberish text inside them. I'd like to find a browser that will show websites the same way that they are displayed on my laptop and an e-mail program that will automatically display any .jpg or .pdf files that are in or attached to my e-mails. Can anyone suggest programs that will do these very basic things? Free or reasonably-priced programs would be great.

You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.

E-mail and Web browser not working

Hi all:
I have a 8320 v45.5.0.81 platform 2.7.0.78 on the T-mobile network.
My phone is not currently receiving emails or I cannot access the internet via the web browser.
I can access via t-zones.
When using the web browser, I get the following message unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. if the problem persists please contact your service provider.
I tried removing the battery and reinstalling, it did not help
Any help would be appreciated.

Save all the cookies and web browser history...

Is there a program that can save all the cookies and web browser history for imac.
all the pages my kids will visit. on the internet

as I told you, turn on parental controls on their accounts. then you can control which sites they are allowed to visit and parental controls also save a log of every site they visit. your kids won't be able to delete that log. only an admin user can do that.
parental controls are turned on in system preferences->parental controls.

Requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser

SharePoint 2010 version 14.0.7102.5000.
Clients are Windows 7 SP1, Browser is IE 10.0.9200.17296
Problem is the well known famous message 'requires a microsoft sharepoint foundation-compatible application and web browser' when the user chooses the button New Document.
Why this behaviour for this user is different then all the threads and blogs I read about this message is because of the following: I am logged on using my Windows account on my computer (VDI so I have the same computer as the user experiencing the
message) and don't have this problem. When the concerning user uses my logged on computer under my account and only logs in with his credentials within SharePoint (sign in as Different User) then the problem occures. I performed the same actions on the same
library as the concerning user.
So ruled out are:
- Browser version
- Office version
- windows User Profile
- x86 vs x64
- MS Foundation Support installation
- add on SharePoint OpenDocuments Class
Please help me out.

Do you have different versions of Office or SharePoint Designer or any Office product installed?
You can try repairing office installation in that particular user machine and see what happens.

Sorry to say but software versions can be ruled out as I mentioned the user have the same problem when using
my logged on account in Windows on my computer. Only in the browser the user is logging in with his credentials. I don't have this problem when using this Document Library.

Closing an application and web browser at same time at runtime

Does anyone have any ideas of code that addresses that problem of closes the web browser at runtime when the application closes?
I've been converted about 140+ forms and 300+ reports to 10g from 6i client/server and I've got all the forms converted but now that I've got it up on a website at runtime, I'm documenting all these application issues that I just haven't had time to research.
It sounded like I do write some Java Beans, based on some threads I've read. But I didn't fully understand.
Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I was able to do it when I hard-coded to the http://servername:port in the web.show_document. My question is: I have a windows and Linux (Development and Test server). All 3 are different servers. How can I make it to where I don't have to hard-code the server name. I've put the html page in the ORACLE_HOME/forms/java folder. The application and web browser closes just fine when I hard-code the server name in the web.show_document command. Is there a way I can get around this where I don't have to hard-code the name, but still access it from the same path on all 3 servers?

Fonts displaying in strange characters in Email and Web Browser

Myself and my creative director (on two different computers) are seeing strange characters in our email clients and web browser. He uses Entourage for Email and I use Thunderbird. We both use Firefox for a web browser.
This does not happen with every email or with every web page, what could it be?

Clear out the font cache files from the hard drive with Font Finagler. Also, if you have the fonts Helvetica Fractions or Times Phonetic on the drive, delete them.

Mail and web server on same machine

hi to all,
i have jes 4 suite installed on the same machin: uwc runs on port 81 and 443 (secure) and mail can be accessed on:
https://mail.dom.com
I want to create a new web instance to host the web content. It will be access at:
http://www.dom.com
What needs to be done so that users do not access
https://www.dom.com as web mail
and http://mail.dom.com as web server?

What is on port 80 is the webserver that should host the website.
What is on port 81 is the webserver instance hosting the webmail. I installed a certificate and created a new LS so that users access the webmail through https. port 81 is firewalled.
There is no command called 'host' on Solaris. Actually the DNS admin will register www.dom.com and mail.dom.com to have the same IP since mail and web are installed on the same machine.
The server processes that exist should be the mail processes and the 2 web instances processes. the first instance should listen to port 443 and 81. The second instance should listen to port 80.
the urls that a user might type:
https://mail.dom.com
http://www.dom.com
http://mail.dom.com
the last url is what I want to change. Normally this should display the website. I don't want this result. I want to display the webmail page i.e. https://mail.dom.com. If this is not feasible, I want to display a page showing the 2 other urls.

How can I open multiple instances of the same folder and web browser in different desktops in Lion?

I've selected "none" for association but it doesn't work. In other words, I have a Dropbox folder on my desktop. I'd like to be able to open that same folder using the same shortcut on different Lion desktops. However, whenever I try to use the same shortcut on a different desktop, it switches to the one where it's already open. Same problem with web browsers; if I try to just click on a web browser to create a new window, it will take me back to the other desktop.
I didn't have this problem before I had to replace my hard drive and update everything again. I am aware of the "restart Finder" option as well as associating programs with individual desktops. All of the things in question are currently selected as "none."
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just set Safari's option to None. That is I right clicked on the dock, selected options, and chose none. Also, in Mission Control's tab of System Preferences I clicked Off When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windows for that application. That let me open a new Safari window no matter what desktop I was in. But I had to do both. Just setting the desktop option to none didn't seem to do it. Finder seems to work okay with just the none option set.

thanksI have NetBeans 3.3 installed, but I don't think it makes such a big difference. Here it is:
1) Go to Tools menu and pick Options
2) In the Options window, expand category called "Server and External Tool Settings"
3) Expand sub-category "Web Browsers"
4) For "External Browser (Windows)" set the property called "Browser Executable" to the path to your browser
Example taken from my machine :
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe -nohome
5) Move to category "Building" (which is at the same level as "Server and External Tool Settings"). Expand it.
6) Choose sub-category "JSP & Servlet"
7) Set property "Web Browser" to "External Browser (Windows)"
8) Close the "Options" window.
Now it should work.

E72 fw 031 and web browser

Hi, whit this fw the web browser crash and the opera mobile is very slow.

I was used to switch beteween silent and normal modes using long press on ctrl key
with the new version the long press switches to a mode then switch back to the previous mode with the same long press

After reformatting for the 3rd time when I was on 21.024 and then ensuring I was very careful what I installed, I hadn't come across many bugs. On 031.023 it so far seems about the same, except it seems slightly sluggish on some menus now.

Signatures in Mail have mail and web links...attachment???

I have several email signatures but all have a link for my email and web address.
Why do the recipients get me the signatures as attachments and not how it appears on my composed email?

From the Mail menu bar, select
Mail ▹ Preferences... ▹ Signatures
Drag the signatures to each of the desired accounts in the list on the left. If you want one to be the default signature added to all messages sent from that account, select the account, and then select from the Choose Signature menu at the bottom of the dialog.

Streaming playlists and Web Browser

Hi guys,
I have installed two mp3 streaming servers on my home LAN, Jinzora http://www.jinzora.org/ and Ampache http://www.ampache.org/ , both of them use PHP.
I use the S60 Web Browser to download the playlists thru their web interfaces. Playlists are in PLS format, so S60 Internet Radio is able to play them.
The problem I am having is that Web Browser downloads the playlists as playlist.php and is unable to autoplay them. I have to rename the file to playlist.pls in e:\shoutcast and only then I can play the file in Internet Radio.
There are no problems when downloading mp3s, they are downloaded and then automatically played in Music Player.
The problem seems to be in Internet Browser, because on the other PCs, Firefox and Internet Explorer download playlists as playlist.pls
Is anyone else experiencing this? Is there some hidden config I can set? Should I wait for an updated Web Browser / Internet Radio release?

The way this is supposed to be done in Web Cache is by keeping separate copies of a cached page for different types of browsers distinguished by User-Agent header.
In case of cache miss, Web Cache expects origin servers to return appropriate version of the page based on browser type, and the page from the origin server is just forwarded back to browser.
Here, if the page is cacheable, Web Cache retains a separate copy for each type of User-Agent header value.
And when there is a hit on this cached page, Web Cache returns the version of page with the User-Agent header that matches the request.
Check out the config screen titled "Header Association" for this feature.
About forwarding requests to different origin servers based on User-Agent header value, Web Cache does not have such capability.

Trouble printing e-mail and web based pages

I have a Envy 4500 all in one. Can't print body of e-mails and some web based pages from myToshiba laptop. It will print fine from my I-Phone using e-print. Do I need to enable a setting somewhere?

How to set default file browser and web browser

I am using openbox as the window manager and don't have a desktop environment.
My file browser is pcmam file manager and my web browser is chromium.
I add
export BROWSER=/usr/bin/pcmanfm
in .bashrc so that the system uses pcman file manager to open a local file from an external application. But it will also uses pcman file manager to open a url. I want the url opened in chromium, but chromium doesn't let me set the default web browser (as the picture shows blow).:(
What shall deal with it?

After some hours of persistent puzzling I finally figured out how to make Thunderbird/Lanikai open URIs in Chromium instead of Firefox in the XFCE desktop environment.
In fact I found two solutions that both work.
1) The straightforward solution: make some changes to Thunderbird/Lanikai's prefs.js
Add two string variables:
string: network.protocol-handler.app.ftp; value: exo-open
string: network.protocol-handler.app.http; value: exo-open
string: network.protocol-handler.app.https; value: exo-open
and importantly: change the values of the Boolean variables network.protocol-handler.warn-external.ftp network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http and network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https to 'true'.
It turns out that for some unclear reason the standard Arch Linux Thunderbird/Lanikai package uses gnome-open to open URLs. The persistent popping up of Firefox was caused by some settings in .gconf that come with the gconfd package. I didn't find these values in gconf-editor.
2) Change xml files in .gconf
As I don't want to use Firefox as standard browser any longer, I wanted to get rid of these hidden settings in .gconfd so that "gnome-open [URI]" opens a webpage in Chromium.
I succeeded in getting there by replacing firefox with chromium in the following files:
.gconf/desktop/gnome/applications/browser/%gconf.xml
.gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/chrome/%gconf.xml
.gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp/%gconf.xml
