E-mail app frozen on white screen

Help!!!  Iphone 5s - email app is on a white screen.  I have tried flicking up tile and restarting, but it did not help.  I also pressed the menu button and top button for 15 sec for a hard shutoff, but once again it did not help.  I deleted the mail account, then uploaded it once again, but it did not work, the white screen is still there.  I ask siri if there is any mail, and she says yes and displays them, but when I press the mail, it open the app on a white screen... What else can I do?.

Hello isbe1604,
Having no access to your email can certainly be frustrating. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with software issues. Have you attempted to restore the device to factory settings? Test the issue on a new installation, and make sure that it works. Then use the same article to restore from your backup to either verify it still works, or isolate the issue to the backup itself.

  • Mail app on iPad2 white screen, unresponsive

I have an iPad2 that is up to date with the iOS.  When i open the Mail app it is an unresponsive, white screen.  No emails, buttons appear but don't work.  I have already tried:
    1.  Had reboot holding down home/power
    2.  Reset all settings
    3.  Delete email accounts and then re add.
    Any other suggestions?
Mail does work on our other devices so I know it is not a "hotmail" issue.

    Hi JJ
I have 2 clients with the exact same problem. Since the iOS update 8.0 their mail apps launch run for a while then kick off to a black blank screen and crashes the mail app, this brings them back to their desktop.
I have done everything from factory restores to changing their mail account types from IMAP/POP/Exchange MAPI this does not solve the problem. We have taken it in to our nearest iStore and they have stated that nothing can be done and that we should hope that the next iOS update fixes the issue. I believe its an OS bug crashing the iOS mail app. I hope APPLE team look into this as if there is no fix on the next update i am going to recommend my clients revert to an older version of iOS and you know what an ordeal that is and what all that requires.
I will keep you posted on my findings but in the meantime i don't think anything can be done.
    Regards Rob

  • IPad 2, mail app frozen after g3 cellular connected. Receiving mail, but all screen function frozen. ???

Ipad 2, mail app frozen after connecting via g3 cellular. Incoming messages are received, but all app functions are frozen. Any ideas anyone?
rural location, have only Internet connection for answers, since email frozen. Thanks any help.

Thanks Diavonex, but that's what I tried to discribe that I'd already done. I didn't realise it was called the "task bar".
I've done both the things you suggested again, but Mail is still locked into this "white" screen when it is relaunched, and after 10 seconds it crashes back to the app menu page. I seems to be running in the background as it knows new emails are waiting to be read, but you can't get into Mail any more to view anything.
Not sure whether to delete all Mail accounts in Settings and start again, but that seems extreme.
    Any other suggestions ?

  • Email not opening This is a sudden thing, Email had been working fine for two months then today would not stay open now it will not open at all. after trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes

Email not opening on my iPad2 This is a sudden thing, email had been working fine since purchasing the device then today would not stay open,  now it will not open at all. After trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sign ut and sign back in
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPad mail opens with blank white screen and then closes since returning from overseas. Worked fine up until then.

Since returning from overseas my iPad mail does not work. Selecting mail opens a blank white screen which stays open for a short time then closes. No functionality is available during this time. Doing the normal reboots etc does not resolve the problem.

Have you tried to go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and removing then re-adding the account info?

  • Mail app freezes in white and quits in 5 seconds iphone6 Plus

mail app freezes in white and quits in 5 seconds after launching it
tried closing the apps, "reboot" the iPhone6 plus deleted the actual emails from the web, deleted all email accounts on iPhone
even with no email account, still the same problem.

we have several intel and ppc mac's here and in our custumers, and they all started by a clean 10.5.x instalation, and progressive single updates to last 10.5.6.
we did not change anything since yesterday on the machines, and today they all suffer from this issue. even our custumers.

  • Mail application cancels shutdown-white screen on computer startup

When clicking a dock icon, it continues to bounce and will not open.  Then when I try to shutdown computer, I get the message that mail is stopping the computer from shutdown and needs to be force quit.  When I do this, the screen goes white for 15 minutes before it will shutdown. When I restart it, I get the white screen forever and must use the power button to turn it off and unplug it for 20 seconds and all is fine.  Doesn't happen everyday.  Not sure if it is related, but at times a screen keeps moving an inch or so from left to right again and again.  Must keep clicking the mouse to get it to stop.  imac, 2 years old, Mountain Lion

Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Annoying: Mail app opens randomly after screen saver login

    Hi
I have my security settings setup so that everytime my iMac goes into screen saver mode it asks for login password. Recently I have noticed that if I leave the computer unattended for a long period of time (a few hours) and come back, the mail app opens up. If I just go away for a few minutes and come back the problem does not occur.
Since I am not using the mail app and have not set it up, the setup account window is the one to come up.
I have checked the Login Items under Accounts in System Preferences and it's not there. I have also right clicked the icon in the dock and checked if it was set to start up automatically - it isn't.
I have read online this maybe has something to do with email alerts from iCal but I have not set up iCal to send email, nor do I know where I can disable that type of feature. This is happening even when iCal is closed and I have no events for that day. I've looked around in the prefrences of iCal and disabled any option that has something to do with email but it still happens.
The next logical step was to check Activity Monitor to try and see what started a process. You see I am originally a Windows user and have recently converted my OS religion. Back in Windows when something like this happened I had many tools that could tell me what started the application and even it's command line. But with the Mac all i have is the activity monitor and I'm still not familiar. I have clicked the process and then inspect, the parent process indicated launchd, pressing that lead me to another inspector window still without much info.
How can I solve this, it is becoming rather annoying?
Also does anyone know a better process monitor for mac? or how to use top on the terminal to get the information I need?
Please help a confused new mac user!
    Thanks

So I've tried both of the tips you gave my guys, but non of them works
But I've found out something. When I switch to different space (in spaces), than drop some file and then try to switch back to my mail space, there are 2 possibilities how to do it. First - I just move mouse to the space to where I want to switch, wait for a second and it switch automatically or I can move mouse to the space where I want to switch and than press spacebar to make it faster.
The strange thing with opening app from dock happens just when I press the spacebar.
And question for your other answer - yes, it happens just with apps in my dock.
    It is so uncomfortable...
EDIT: few days ago I've run OnyX (which was probably mistake) and this happens probably since than. I used it because Snow Leopard got little bit slower so I wanted to clean it... It might be because of that.

  • Mail app not displaying any screens - Missing after reinstall

I've had my MBP for a few months and just decided to try to use the Mail app but it won't display any screens or "windows" no matter what I choose in the menu bar. It's showing up as though it's running in the icon bar at the bottom and the menu bar at the top but there's just no application window to work in.
I ended up deleting the app and trying to reinstall it from the disks that came with the laptop but once I did that now I can't get the app to even show up in the Applications folder or in Finder.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you have installed from disc with a version of OSX earlier than you currently have, then you must first download the Combo Update for the version you want to be running, and apply that over the existing OSX.  That will increment Mail to the matching version.  Keep me posted, as there may be other issues.

  • App getting the "white screen of death" since iOS 8.2 update

    Hello!
Been playing an app called Solstice Arena since it came out. Now suddenly the game morphs into the "white screen of death" every time I hit the login button.
I tried all the usual things, turning the phone on/off, reinstalling the app, all to no avail.
Never had this problem before downloading iOS 8.2.
    Anyone have any ideas?

  • Why has my iTunes app frozen? The screen has been unresponsive for several days now.

Why has my iTunes app frozen?
To begin with I thought it was restrictions on the country I was visiting but since retraining home it has not recovered.
The app opens and the screen is animated, but there is no response to my touch on any part of the screen.

This forum is for questions from those managing sites on iTunes U, Apple's service for colleges and universities to post educational material in the iTunes Store. You'll be most likely to get help with this issue if you ask in the iPad forum.

  • Frozen with white screen but unable to reload software

Please can someone help me as I'm about to throw my Blackberry out the window!!
Yesterday I downloaded the Facebook update which requested me to reboot, my blackberry was then stuck on the white screen all day yesterday.  I have managed to attached my blackberry to my pc and remove some of the apps as I know the memory was low. When trying to install I'm getting these error messages: application loaded could not connect to your device.  There might not be any software installed on the device (it says if your device is not working please click ignore to continue loading software, which I did).  Then I get 'an error has occured while downloading software for your verify your internet connection.
After trying several times I clicked on the View Other Versions button and it says that 4.6.1.168 platform 4.2.0.94 is currently installed already and is there twice?
The phone screen shows error message 552 reload software.
    Thank you

thanks for getting back to me.
OK, fine, i need FCP. BUT they won't read in quicktime either. If they're quicktime files, then i should be able to see AND hear them in Quicktime player, vedad?
There has to be something that i can download or something that makes this work... My FCE is HD compatible. If it won't work with my footage then what's the d* point?

  • App store only white screens

I only get white screens in most app store Windows
    iPad 3

AmberView - I tried your solution and it didn't work for me.  It gave me the featured page back but gave me blanks screens on all the other tabs!  I reset the date to the present.
So, I noticed my ipad had somehow gone off the 24 hour clock so I turned this back on and, hey presto, it worked! I now have the featured apps and charts showing up again.
I still want to say thank you as had I not tried your solution I wouldn't have noticed my clock was not on 24 hour display.

  • Mail app frozen

was sending an email on my phone with several pics I had attached from my phone.  The mail app froze while sending; maybe pic files were too large.  I've shut down and restarted the phone; but now when I try to go into the mail app; it is just a grey screen.  I can access my mail account via my laptop and it's fine; just can't access it on my phone.  I've even deleted the mail account and recreated it.  HELP!!

Quit the Mail app (Double tap the Home button, hold the app icon until it wiggles, tap the red dot, tap home button)
    Relaunch The Mail app
    If that doesn't resolve it
Reset: Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears
