E-mail App isn't working

Recently, the original e-mail app on my iPod Touch isn't working correctly. When I tap on the icon to open, a black screen appears only showing the top bar of the iPod Touch which shows the time, battery, and wi-fi connection. Because of this, I am not able to check my e-mail. Is there any way I can fix this problem? Thank you I appreciate your help.

  • Mail App isn't working

When I open the app, it loads (as indicated by the symbol on the top bar) then does nothing. The refresh and new-mail buttons are along the bottom, and the top bar is still there, but nothing happens in the app itself. It won't display any sort of mail, and soft/hard resets have done nothing to date...

Already stated that I tried a reset. The back-up isn't much of an option right now, either. I don't have the "home" computer with everything on it. Just a borrowed laptop. Are there no other methods than "turn it off and back on" or "Reset the whole thing?
Pretty bad system if the only way to fix it is pretty much get a new one (which is the equivalent to restoring from a back-up/factory settings.)

  • Can Mail.app 3.3 Work on 10.3.9?

    Hi all,
I'm letting my wife use my computer for some weeks and I want to simply take my whole Mail folder and chunk it over onto her computer. Trouble is I'm using 10.5.4 and she's using 10.3.9. Can I still do this wild thing? Or must I try to export four years of mail in some format that her older Mail version can read?
Please please tell me this will work!
    Thanks,
    Franz

    Hi, Franz.
    Can Mail.app 3.3 Work on 10.3.9?
No. Mail 3.3 requires a later OS. It won't run in Panther.
If you are swapping computers with your wife for a few weeks and need to make her old Tibook compatible with your Mail files, consider taking the following temporary measures:
    1. Make a bootable clone of the Tibook's hard drive on an external drive. Verify that the clone is bootable and all in good order.
    2. Erase the Tibook's drive and install Leopard on it so you can use it while your wife has your machine. Note that if the Tibook is slower than 867MHz, Leopard isn't supported on it.
    3. Use it until you convince your wife to return your computer to you. (Good luck with that!)
    4. Transfer your own new data from the Tibook onto your Mac.
    5. Clone the backup of your wife's drive back onto the Tibook, restoring it to exactly the condition it was in when she handed it to you.
    6. Transfer your wife's new data from your computer onto the Tibook. Note, of course, that data created by the new versions of some apps on your machine won't be readable by the older versions of those apps on her machine. Your wife will have to be very careful about what apps she uses and/or what file formats she saves data in while she has your Mac.
On the whole, I suspect the temporary computer swap is going to be fraught with land mines for both of you, and I strongly suggest that if there's any way you can afford just to get your wife a new computer comparable to yours, you do so.

  • Streaming radio app isn't working in background anymore on iPhone

    Hi everyone,
Just changed Network provider on my iPhone and since my streaming radio app isn't working in background anymore.
Changed the SIM card, got the new network and since as soon as want to listen to streaming radio while surfing on safari or use an other app the streaming radio app is turning off.
Before could do both without any issues.
I only use the radio app once connected on wifi.
Does anyone have any idea what happened?
Thank you in advance for any answer.
    Cheers

It went well again by itself...
Thank you for those how had a thought about it.
    Cheers.

  • Mail app doesn't work

Mail app doesn't work after Yosemite OSX upgrade. At first it didn't check email and now it doesn't boot. I tried many times, but nothing happens

Ok after nearly going crazy I read something about someone having a problem with a program related to fonts not being installed. I started up font book and now my problem is miraculously resolved... This is good and bad. I don't know why having font book running would resolve my problem or know what font is causing the programs not to work. As far as I know I didn't disable any system fonts. And the problem doesn't happen when font book is running, which is confusing me.

  • Mail search isn't working. Help!

Mail search isn't working (I'm running 10.5.8). It will search Subject/From/To, but searching 'Entire message' brings no results. This is a disaster. Tried reindexing Spotlight, but that didn't work. Any ideas gratefully received!

It does sound like a Spotlight indexing problem, has it had time to finish indexing?
In the meantime, it won't be as fast searching for content, but I'd get EasyFind...
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/11076
Here's a direct download link to EasyFind 4.0 which runs in 10.3.9 & up...
    http://www.devon-technologies.com/files/legacy/macosx1039/EasyFind.dmg.zip
    From this page,
    http://www.devon-technologies.com/support/faqs.php?p=default&cat=19
    Freeware applications:
        * EasyFind 4.0
        * PhotoStickies 5.6
        * ThumbsUp 4.3
        * XMenu 1.8
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/8707
Use it to search your Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail for case insensitive whatever... once you open that folder in the Finder it should be a choice to limit the search to that folder at the dropdown at the right of EasyFind.

  • Mail.app won't work properly after installing Yosemite

My "new viewer window" in Mail.app won't work after installing Yosemite. I can not access the viewer window and thus none of my email.
    How can I fix this?
    Mail.app v 8.0

some updates on this issue, Mail application uses the same proxy that has been set on your system (system preferences==>Network==>Advanced==>proxies). People usually use HTTP/HTTPS proxy for surfing the web. You should make sure to set SOCKS proxy as well. Mail application works with SOCKS proxy. Note that port number for SOCKS proxy is usually different from the port number for HTTP and HTTPS but the IP address of  your server (apparently) is the same.
    Hope this helps

  • Facebook app isn't work on my Iphone5

Facebook app isn't work on my Iphone5. It won't no longer load. Any suggestion? I've deleted the app and reloaded but no luck!

Was just trying to see if it was a problem with your account.
Reset your iPhone: hold down the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.

  • TS3899 I have an iphone5 and the reply, forward and writing a message from the mail app doesn't work. I can check my mail but can't reply to it. What's going on?

I have an iphone5 and the reply, forward and writing a message from the mail app doesn't work. I can check my mail but can't reply to it. What's going on?

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go. (No data loss)

  • TS2755 My SMS app isn't working, help!

My SMS app isn't working, I have the iPhone 5. Every time I go to open the app, it appears that it's going to open, but closes seconds later. I've restarted it a few times, nothing has worked. Help?

Since you've said SMS app, now we known it's Messages app since there's no stock SMS app (it did with the iPhone 3G).
BTW, SMS is a carrier service. Have you contacted them?
If you did try 1 step at a time
    1. Try in Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Sign out and sign back in.
    2. Did you tried Restore from backup using iTunes.
    3. If no joy, restore as new

  • IMAP + Gmail: will mail.app search function work for 100% of messages?

This feels like a dumb question, but haven't found any discussion of this issue on the forum.
I'm considering switching some accounts including Gmail to IMAP. I'm accustomed to having all mail stored locally on mail.app - and frequently search that whole universe (we use mail as an info archive).
The dumb question is what happens to an account that is switched from POP to IMAP? Specifically, when there is no internet connection (often for us, sailing around the world on our yacht).
    Thanks in advance!

Clarification: I forgot to say that I have configured my Gmail IMAP test account in Advanced to "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing".
But it isn't clear whether this applies to every msg on the server, or just to new mail sent/received since the IMAP connection was established.
I am afraid to convert one of our big primary addresses to IMAP until I'm sure that it will work as we require. Again, it isn't clear what happens to say a Gmail account when you switch it from POP to IMAP then back to POP again. What happened to the local copies of the traffic during the IMAP period.
Lastly, can an IMAP account be accessed via POP without messing anything up?

  • Mail app has stopped working after 10.9.4 update on July 4, 2014

Mail is totally dead.  It does not connect to the internet.  Each of my email accounts has the exclamation triangle next to them.  No new peripherals or devices or USB connections were added after the update.  The system worked before the update, and the same system stopped working (Mail app so far) after the update.

In your opinion Apple was doing a garbage job, when in fact it was Intego that trashed your Mac. That's all it is capable of doing.
But now I have no virus protection.
This is a common misconception. OS X already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple. Ill-conceived "anti-virus" garbage convey no benefit and as you found out, can simply prevent your Mac from working as it is designed to work.
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Java can be disabled in System Preferences.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.

  • Mail App no longer working after 2.0 upgrade

I upgraded to 2.0 on my IPhone Edge and now my mail application no longer works AT ALL. If I try to open it, it simply shows me a blank mail screen, waits for a few seconds and then returns to the home screen. Strangely enough, I have been able to send email photos using the camera application.
Email is the most important application for me on the iPhone! Has anyone encountered this problem? Is there a fix available?

I recently stopped by the apple store and have fixed my mail app! The problem as described to me was caused by a installing apps. Turns out that apps can mess with Mail setting in some way and perhaps due to a bad setting or a bad combination of settings my mail application stopped working. The way I fixed it was to do a restore to New Iphone which, unfortunately, wipes everything! But after syncing back up including re-installing all of my apps, mail works again! Of course, I lost all of my notes, various settings, and lots of other stuff. Turns out that a simple restore, since it backs up your phone beforehand (backing up bad settings at the same time) is not the silver bullet but a full restore to new iphone probably often is. Hope this helps others.

  • Mail App no longer working

Last night Mail was working perfectly, as it has for many years. This morning not working. Nobody touched my computer. I did not Install or Delete anything. Did NOT make ANY changes to anything at all.
I use DeamHost for my Web Host and E-mail Service. I have contacted DreamHost Tech Support three times today already. I'm in the Chat Room again, but they cannot help me. They have no clue what is wrong.
I've tried their suggestions to Reset the Password several times. Still Mail is not working.
I even set a Different Password for each E-mail Address, but still not working.
    > I can send myself a message from my Mail App and receive it in my Mail App, BUT I cannot receive E-mail from somebody else to my Mail Application.
    > Sent a Message from both Hotmail and Yahoo to my Mail App, but did not receive either message.
I really need to Resolve this Issue soon ...... I depend on my Mail App for All of my Important E-mail (Business, Familly, Friends, Personal)
    Thanks.
    -- Jim

Finalll Resolved the Issue ... !!! As I suspected, it was something incredibly Simple .... !!!
To the right of each E-mail Account in Mail, there was a "Tilde" sign to the right, indicating that there is something wrong with that E-mail Address.
Finally, DreamHost Escalated my Issue to a higher-up Tech Support. After trying many things, most of which I had already been trying with other Techs all day long, finally the Tech told me to right click on the Tilde, and choose
    "Take Account Online"
which worked for five of the accounts, but still had issues with the last account, which finally got working.
So what could have been the cause for this Problem to Happen?
I know that somebody did hack into my E-mail Account, because the first Tech this morning gave me some of the characters to my Password (very long Password), but those characters did NOT match up with my Password!!!
Has anyone run into an E-mai Hack like this one ... ???

  • Auto-complete for the email addresses in the mail app is not working

Hi, could somebody kindly help, please?
I have just got a new iphone 5s after my old 5 got broken. When I got the new 5s one I had to restore everything from the back-up copy I had on my ipad or in my icloud, whatever.
The problem is that in the standard mail app which you have at the bottom of the screen auto-complete for the email addresses is not working on this new iphone. However, it still works on the ipad.
Can I turn it on somewhere or is it a bug? I remember When my old iohone was new as well as the ipad and ipod, I did not have to turn on anything. The recent email addresses list (appears when one starts to type an address in the address bar when writing a new email message) appeared automatically. And on this phone it doesn't appear at all. It doesn't suggest me any recent or whichever email addresses and I am really lazy to type an address each time.
    Could this be solved?
Many thanks in advance for the eventual help.
    Olia

I am also getting same problem...................anybody please help.
