E mail asking me to reset password

Suddenly today I recieved an email on my adode ID e mail and my backup e mail with the following:
Dear (my name),
Click this link to reset your password.
For security purposes, this link will expire 72 hours from the time it was sent. If you continue to have issues with your password, see Adobe ID FAQ for help.
Thank you,
The Adobe Team
The e mail was from [email protected], the front part of the link was https://adobeid.services.adobe.com.
I had NOT reported my password lost (in fact I hadn't had to re-log in to CC on my computer for a while either):
I totally didn't trust the letter to be legit (would have to be a total idiot TO trust it), although I did login to through the official adobe site and change my password there. I clicked the forgotten password link on the adobe account site there as a test though and the reset password e mail through THAT came from [email protected] instead, from the Adobe Creative Cloud team.
Was wondering if the first e mail asking me to change my password was a fraud then?

Hi Phthalojohan,
Thank you for bringing this up to our attention, we will investigate this with the responsible team.
Resetting your password via the Adobe website was the right action to do.
Regards
Nicolas

  • HT5312 Received an e-mail asking me to reset my account.

I accessed iTunes today but did not change any of my information.  I got an e-mail from Apple saying my name had been changed and I had to click on a link to reset my account.  I didn't do it and seem to be able to sign in fine online.  I also received a text from Apple saying I had won a competition I hadn't entered so I am a bit wary of this e-mail and wondering is it legit?

The text message is not from Apple and definitely a scam. Apple has no such contest and never has had. The email is almost also certainly a phish; do not respond to it, nor to any unsolicited messages asking for any sort of account information. I would expect that if you were to examine the raw source of the message, you'd find that the URL actually goes to some other site, not Apple's.
If you ever have need to reset any of your account information, manually type in the URL to the Apple ID management page:
    https://appleid.apple.com/
Then you can be confident that you're actually contacting Apple's systems.
    Regards.

  • No E-mail from you to reset password

    Hello-
    Earlier today, I needed to reset my password for my 'MyBestBuy' account because I had forgotten it. I hit the 'Forgot my password' link and was told to expect an e-mail with a code or temp password...I have been waiting since about 5PM EST for an e-mail from you folks, but nothing shows up. I have tried a second and third time. Nothing. Please help. My e-mail is {removed per forum guidelines}

    Hi obxboy,
Not being able to access your account would certainly make placing orders difficult, so I can imagine how anxious you must feel to find a resolution.
I've had the chance to review your account and believe I was able to determine the cause of the problem. I've reset your password from our end to see if that resolves the issue, so please make sure to keep an eye on both your inbox and junk mail folders for a confirmation message. Please note that this message will only be valid for two hours, so you'll need to request another password reset here if you're unable to access the message within that timeframe. Additionally, when you sign back in, please make sure to do the following on order:
Log out of your BestBuy.com account completely on all devices, including the My Best Buy app
Delete your browser history, cache, and cookies
Visit the password reset link in your email (please be sure to check your spam folder)
Create a new password that fits the accepted criteria (use a password you’ve never used before)
Logout of your account as it will log you in automatically after creating the new password
Wait 5-10 minutes and then attempt to login to your account
Let us know if you have any other questions.

Have notification that "Email has been sent". Although I checked inbox, spam box but I can't see any mail for link to reset password.
I ensure that type correct Apple ID and email authentication.

If you had the option to receive an email to reset your password, then you had to have set up a Rescue email address. Here is a support article that explains the difference:

  • Can I use my existing E-mail address to retrieve my password reset through security questions

Can I use my existing E-mail address to retrieve my password reset through security questions instead of through E-mail. When I try retrieving my new Apple password through reset through security questions?  On the Apple id, it will not allow me to do so becasue I forgot my security answers to the question. I'm naming one or two of the wrong vechiles which is what the questions ask me for for security questions.
For icloud do you reccommend that I keep that same E-mail address or create a new one for my iCloud mail aside from my G-mail address name?
I asked support community for the very first time to reset my security questions and it wanted me to create a new user name for iCloud when I already have *****l for my original Apple id.

    TheresaEW,
I’d recommend contacting Apple directly to resolve your security question issue.

  • Mail asks for MobileMe password

Yesterday, my Mac Mail began prompting:
The iCloud IMAP server “p13-imap.mail.me.com” rejected the password for user “lauralobo”
I can't access my mail, so tried changing my password, thinking I wasn't remembering it properly. I changed it on my phone. I attempted logging into iCloud.com mail through Safari. It didn't recognize my new password, so I reset it through Safari. Still, iCloud mail would not permit me to login. And asked that I reset my password. I had Reset Safari, and tried logging in using Chrome. I can still access my email on my phone, but now iCloud.com has disabled my account and continues to ask for a new password, again… and I am still locked out of my MacMail.
    10.7.5, Mail version 5.3

Try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Mail, restart your Mac, then go back and check Mail again.  This deletes, then adds back your iCloud email account.
Of course, if you can't sign in on iCloud.com because your iCloud ID is disabled, you'll have to fix that first.  To do that, contact the Apple account security team and ask for assistance: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security (be sure to ask for the account security team).

  • Apple Mail keeps asking me for my password ... over and over

    Hi,
I am having an issue that is driving me crazy on my macbook.
I have set up my mail password without issues and was accessing this until a month ago on a regular basis. Now, when I access it, it asks me for my password every 30 seconds - I have tried entering it, validating it, changing it, deleting past the message, resetting the entire account from the preferences ( including deleting the account and re-adding it ) but nothing seems to work.
Does anyone have any what I need to do to get this to work? I'm wondering if I need to start deleting keychains but surely the system should use the latest version and I should not need to. This is driving me crazy - all I want to do is write a mail and I spend 30 mins tryingt to get past this message.
    Thanks for your help,
    Matthew

    go to Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access
on the left, for Keychains, select login
    for Category, select Passwords
use the search box to search for all keychain entries related to the passwords in question
    delete those entries
in the Keychain Access menu, scroll down to Keychain First Aid
enter your password, select repair, and start
I don't know if a restart is needed at this point but it wouldn't hurt.
you will have to enter your passwords again but this time they should stick.

  • I have a old imac OSX.4.11.  Lately my .mac mail account quit working and rejecting my password, even a reset password

I have an old imac with the swivel flat screen-OSX4.11.  My .mac mail account has quit working--it rejects my password--even a reset password.  Connection Dr. says to "make sure username and password are correct", over and over.  Help!

    Hello,
Did you change it over to iCloud yet? It does work in 10.4.11
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac/.me mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
    Thanks to dpepper...

Most of the people on these forums, including myself, are fellow users - you're not talking to iTunes Support here. I've asked the hosts to remove your email addresses and phone number from your post.
If you can't remember your rescue email address (you won't be able to change it or add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551

My iMac running 10.7.5 has suddenly developed the habit of asking for my keychain password every 10 minutes or so.  iTunes, mail and airport are the usual requesters. It's making me nuts!  And no, I have not recently changed my password to start this new issue.

    Hello dowaco
Try running Keychain First Aid on your keychain or just rese your Keychain to create another keychain to see if that resolves the issue of the repeated prompts for the password.

  • Mail asked for a password each time it starts

I've used gmail (IMAP) for several months with no problems, until recently. Now Mail asks for a password each time it starts, then again when I try to send a mail. Despite re-entering the password and checking the box for the password to be stored, I'm prompted again the next time I re-start Mail.
I've tried several remedies described here in support discussions including:
    1. delete the imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com entries in the keychain then re-enter the password via Mail.
    2. run keychain first aid.
    3. manually enter the passwords in keychain
    4. use disk utility to repair all permissions
None of the above remedies have worked for me.
With some trial and error, I've discovered that setting Access Control for the two Keychain items (imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com) to "Allow all applications" (rather than the default "Confirm before allowing" with "Mail" as the listed application) does work.
So it appears that Keychain allows Mail to store the passwords but then does not allow Mail access to retrieve the stored passwords once Mail is restarted when "Confirm before allowing" is set.
Although now I have a "Work-around", does anyone have an idea of what's broken and how to fix it? Thanks.

OK. I tried the "Keychain Reset" and it did not work. The reset created a blank keychain file. I entered the mail passwords after starting Mail.app, then quit Mail. When I restarted Mail.app, it prompted again for the previously entered password. No change.
The clue to the problem is the current "work around". If I set "Allow All Applications" the Keychain allows Mail.app to use the stored passwords. Of course this defeats part of the security.
    So Far...:

    Thanks

If you use Mail.app, hover your cursor over any of the links in the emails you're receiving to see if they lead directly to an Apple-owned subdomain, like so...
If the links in the email(s) you received are exactly like this, then it's possible there's an issue with your account that you should probably follow up on. If they don't look like exactly like this, then these are phishes, and you can post screenshots of those links here so that someone from Apple can follow up on them. (Best not to click on these!)

Good morning ! reset ******** password plz mail *********
    <Personal Information Edited by Host>

What exactly is causing this? Have you forgotten your own password? if so, follow the instructions I gave you above.
Or is this a second-hand phone which is asking for someone else's password? If a second-hand iOS device has been 'Activation locked' then only the previous owner can unlock it, either by providing you with the account ID and password, or by removing it from his list of devices (as he should have done before selling it) - please see http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4515
If you are unable to contact him to do this then I'm afraid you will not be able to use the device - there is no other way of unlocking it at all. Apple cannot unlock it for you.
You should if possible return it to wherever you bought it and ask for a refund as in this event the device is completely useless.
No-one is going to Skype you.
