E-mail attachments I send arrive as garbled unreadable e-mails

This seems to happen randomly with messages I send whether I use Entourage of Mail. My attachments sometimes go through and sometimes they don't. They become unattached and the recepient receives this message:
This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.
--B32300431951484520
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit
The e-mail body message I write appears here... followed by what you see below.
--B32300431951484520
Content-type: application/msword; name="Smart Borrower Spanish.doc";
x-mac-creator="4D535744";
x-mac-type="5738424E"
Content-disposition: attachment
Content-transfer-encoding: base64
0M8R4KGxGuEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPgADAP7/CQAGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACAAAAiAAAAAAA
AAAAEAAAigAAAAEAAAD+////AAAAAIYAAACHAAAA///////
And the garble continues.
My mail server is bellsouth.net a POP server. Bellsouth says every thing from their end is fine. Also checked with Microsoft and they say it's a server issue. In the meantime I'm stuck in the middle.
I did find in your discussion groups someone having a similar problem with an IMAP mail server, but no solution was given.
My clients are getting frustrated too because I continue sending worthless files.
Please help!!! I invested too much $$$ on this computer and programs to be having problems like this.
Im desperate!!!
Tanya
ibook power pc g4 Mac OS X (10.4.6) Mail server: bellsouth (POP server)

Hi Tanya, it is rather strange that even a simple word docu attachment would create such a problem.
By "right", even if you just started using either MS Entourage or Apple Mail fresh, and did not go deep in to reconfigure anything... the attachment like this "should" get through to "most of the computers", Mac or PC wise.
Let me raise an example of my personal work experience regarding using Mail's "Send PC Windows Friendly Attachments" and when you may need to turn on or off this feature.
In my company's cable media line, I need to send Jpeg images as "Still On Air" slide to our On-air Presentation Suite (where all the channels, beaming etc are) to put up say, a "Breakdown Slide", all of them use PCs; If I need to send them this Jpeg file, extension aside, which we all agree is by now a standard protocol whether it's sending to a Mac and/or PC, if I turn on Mail's Windows Friendly feature, this Jpeg image file will be "embedded" into my email, and they will have no way to extracting it out as a Jpeg image file to put to use, I have to turn that feature off so the image file is like a regular attachment that goes through.
So as for your case, maybe part of the reason, you may want to check with your ISP, and also the companies you are sending email to, whether their company servers have any form of various of different filter system or standards; Let me take any example, we sometimes also send Targa image files, (.tga) which is for on-air Channel Bug (the channel logo you see on the corners of the TV screens), and this Targa file has a alpha or matte channel; But somehow our own company's servers "hates" targa files and will filter them off, treating them like junk!
So the solution is to compress the file, zip it and it will go through.
So maybe you want to "experiment" and zip the file and see whether it will go through nicely.
Mac OS X has its own Compression feature built-in, so you don't really need DropStuff or anykind, highlight the file and right-click, select "Create Archive of xxx" (being the name of the file, or folder) and then you go, a zip file will be created.
Cheers

However, if I just want store the html file in a file system for quich test purpose, how can I store the url and keep a link to the related file.Instead of storing the content in the database you instead store a file system location (either a path or a file url.)
That file system location is where you store the content.Indeed, the file system location is where I store the content which I crawled from Internet. However, it is not the initial url from which I crawled this content. I would like to store the initial url of this content too. This is still a problem. No it isn't.
You have two pieces of data: Url and content.
If you want to store the content on the file system then your database table would have two columns: url and file_location.
    You then do the following
    1. Save the content to the file system. Derive a file path from that process.
    2. Write a record to the database consisting two data items : url and that file path.

  • Random users getting very slow response when opening messages/attachments or sending email

I have a small number of users, mostly very senior management of course, who are experiencing slow response when trying to open email messages and attachments or send messages.
They see the spinning wheel and sit there until it decides to open or send. If the message is opened  and closed again you would expect it to be quick reopening the same message, no, it does the same thing again.
These users are all using Outlook 2010 and their mail accounts are on Exchange 2013. It does not seem to make a difference if they use a physical machine or log into a VDI.
I do not have the same issue generally, though I have experienced this when using VDI and this has been seen using a number of different machine pools so it is not a specific pool.
This is not specifically a VDI issue, as the 3rd paragraph says, the issues are seen on both physical and virtual machines.
none of the mailboxes are particularly large, most are at around 60% of quota limit, and the same limit applies to almost all mailboxes across the organization. They also do not appear to have a huge number of messages stored, other users without issues
have larger mailboxes and higher item counts. Any ideas what I need to look at to address this?

    Hi,
    How about OWA?
If OWA works well, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode and re-create profile for testing.
Any related error/warning/information message left in App Log?
    Also consider the network Bandwidth.
    Thanks

  • Why can't I open all my emails, open attachments or send photos on my ipad anymore

Why can't I open all my emails, open attachments or send photos on my ipad anymore. Sometimes it takes awhile for an email to open, other times they open without any incident. I can't seem to be able to email any photos anymore.

It sounds like you have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them.
Pages 5 can not open Pages '08 files at all. You will need to Export the Pages '08 files to Word .doc/x or use Pages '09 to open the Pages '08 files and resave them.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 older Pages files can not be opened in previous Pages.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • How to handle Multiple attachments in sender Mail Adapter

    Hi,
In our requirement is mutiple documents send through mail adapter, In custom java module we read the each document details and do it bussiness process. But now i am not able to read the multiple files at a time. we are able to read single file only. So plz give the solution for that.
    1) How to send multiple attachments(like word, PDF, JPG etc..) using mail apapter.
    2) How to read multiple attachments in custom java module.
    Thanks & Regards
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
Go through this weblog this explains steps to multile attachments.

  • Read multi-tabbed excel file attachments from Sender Mail Adapter.

There is a need to read excel attachments from incoming email to a
mailbox. We know we can use Sender Mail adapter to easily read .xml, .txt
    or .csv attachments.
For excel attachments we know from SDN that you have to write
adapter modules to handle excel. However the excel file we need to read has
multiple worksheets(tabs) and data may be contained in any of them.
Is it possible to use SAP XI Mailsender adapter to read such a file as an attachment? What kind of module development would we need for this? I am not much of a Java programmer so examples or links to other documentation would help.
    Thanks,
    Rudra

    Rudra,
Use Java Mapping.  There is a free java api available called JExcelAPI to achieve this.
Shabarish's blog describes about this.  This might be helpful to you

  • Sending mails with attachments is sending some parts in HTM format

I have configured my ME account to Apple Mail. When I send an email with first some text, then i add an picture under the text, and after the picture i add some more text. Then i send the mail to someone.
When that person opens the mail in Outlook on Windows for example, the first text that i typed above the picture is visible in the mail, the picture is added as an jpg attachment, but the text that i typed under the picture is always added in a HTM file
So they don't see the whole mail, only the first end until the picture, the rest is an HTM attachment.
It happens with mails send with Mobile Me, but also with other POP3 accounts.
I already tried to change EDIT - ATTACHMENTS - SEND AS WINDOWS ATTACHMENTS and ATTACHMENTS AT END OF THE MAIL
    Both settings doesn't work.
    Please HELP!!

I was troubleshooting my own issue noted above and tried to send the attachments via gmail's web interface (bypassing Apple Mail). This time, gmail provided an error message stating that the file contained a virus.
Since it was a zip of several Word docs, I saved them as PDFs and then rezipped, and Apple Mail sent them off like a champ.
Evidently, Mail does not have a method for relaying the precise nature of the error message that gmail sends (in this case that the attachment had what gmail thought was a virus). This would be a prime area for some software developers to tackle on a future version of Mail.
By the way, the files almost certainly do not contain viruses; they are extremely old Word Docs that have been on my successive Mac hard drives for at least 9 years. Too old a format for gmail to recognize?
Hope this helps someone who may be having the same trouble.

  • Mail with Attachments Not Sending

I have an iMac.  For some strange reason, I am no longer able to send emails with attachments through Mac Mail.  The Internal Port is 443; the External Port is 80.  Any suggestions?  This is my computer at work, and we utilize Outlook Express.
    Thanks!

Are you using POP or IMAP?
The port #s look weird to me, too since 80 is HTTP and 443 is HTTPS (usually used for website traffic)....not necessarily mail ports (which are/can be typically 25, 993, 587, 2000, 143, 110, 995, 465, etc).
If you can post more info about your mail client confiuration/settings, that would be helpful

  • Mail attachments not sending when connection slow

I have a user with 7.04 on company iPhone. Exchange account set up through mail.
He is trying to send pictures from the phone to his own email account, the building he works in doesn't have a good signal(no wireless there either). He will select a picture to send, and it either won't ever show up or it will show up days later (even when selecting a small size).
I tested the phone in a area with a good signal, it was able to send pictures at full size relatively quickly. So it's obvious without a slow connection the mail program is working - but I'm curious if there is an app or a setting I can change that will reliably email the photo's even with a slow connection, even if it takes a while. It seems like the mail is failing, but he isn't getting any delivery failure message.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Without a good connection, you won't be able to send anything.

  • Mail with jpg attachments not sending

I've tried repeatedly sending jpg photos in Mail, but they are never successfully sent.  The Send icon keeps spinning and spinning and never stops.  I end up having to go into the Outbox and deleting the message, then doing a Force Quit Mail before I can reopen Mail.  This is something new since updating to Lion.

    Hmm  that sounds convenient.
Maybe try Attachment tamer, a Mail plug-in, and see if you can tweek a work around.  A few bugs in Mail.

  • Dropped E-Mail Attachments When Sending From ios 6

I have an iPhone 4S and iPad 2 both running ios 6 and I am having issues sending emails with picture attachments. I can attach a photo to my email and send it just fine from my iPhone and my iPad 2, but my receipent receives only a blank email with no attachment. I have scoured the boards to see if there is some sort of fix but I can not find anything on it.
Any ideas on what is going on here and how to fix it? Thanks!!
    Corina~

It should be an attachment.  Your Mac just displays a preview of certain attachments (such as .pdfs) in the body of the message.  A PC, for example, will see it as an attached file rather than a preview.
You can save the attachment on your Mac by Control-clicking on it and selecting Save Attachment.
