E-mail Attachments wont download

Hi,
I am hoping this has been covered somewhere or someone may have experienced The same issue. I received my Z10 in April this year and generally find it ok, no where near 100 % happy but ok. The main source of my frustration is The inability to open e-mail attachments regardless of size or doc type. The attachment goes to about 2/3rds and then stops and will not download any further. The problem is I cannot send it to another device to open as it has not downloaded in The first place. Of course not an issue if I am in The office but a right pain when I am out in The field and have been sent documents which I cannot download or open.
Any constructive help would be very much appreciated
Cheryl

Meaning if you use the "tap and hold down on the attachment" you are not getting the "Open In" option? Or should we just keep guessing about what might be happening?
If that is what is happening, deom the home screen .... quit the mail app completely in the recent tray by double tapping the home button to bring up the recents tray - and then tap and hold down on the mail app icon in the recent tray until it wiggles, then tap the red minus sign to quit the app. Restart the iPad and then try the "tap and hold down" on an attachment again.
If you mean that something else is wrong or happening - share the information.

  • Mail attachments not downloading (shows download arrow icon only)

Mountain Lion's Mail seems to be very flakey.
The main problem I have is that quite often when an email comes in with an attachement all I see is an icon with a download arrow. When I click it nothing happens. Usually I have to open the message in a new window, click loads of times until eventually it opens (usually several copies of it).
These are not big files, images, pdfs or .ppt files usually. No more than a meg. Often there are multiple attachements and maybe one or two ar displayed in the body (if images) the others are download icons.
Activity shows the mail coming in and that it takes a little wile to download as if the attachment is being transferred.
Its getting really anoyying. Never had this problem before in Lion or previous.

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Unable to print e-mail attachments after downloading

When I download an attachment, the green arrow in upper r/h corner appears, but there is no indication where the attachment has gone. If "view" is selected a diminished version of the attachment appears on the left quarter of the screen and a full-sized version on the remaining 3/4's of the screen When "print" is selected the entire screen prints (both large and small versions), neither of which is a useable print copy.
In order to print an attachment properly I now have to forward the e-mail to another computer which uses Yahoo as its browser. That always works ok.

What type of file type are you attempting to download?
To open the saved file, you can click on the file in the green download button menu.

  • Upgraded to iOS 5 mail attachments wont show

    Hi
I upgraded to iOS 5 last night just to realize this morning that none of my attachments are available on my phone now ... is there a fix for this? Or a setting that Im missing? Its extremely frustrating considering majority with attachments are work related
Im on an iphone 4 if that matters.
    Thanks

Try changing the contacts' information so that the phone number has the international format.
So, for example in Germany (country code 49) you should have +49 421 1234567 (with the "+" sign and country code) and not just the local format like 0421 1234567

  • Mail attachments aren't being downloaded to Downloads folder?

Whenever I click on an attachment I receive on Mail, I want it to automatically download onto my Downloads folder. However, when I click on an attachment, it opens, but it doesn't appear in my Downloads folder. It only saves onto the hidden "Mail Downloads" folder that you can find by going into your Mac's Library. This is especially irritating when I open an attached word document, edit and save it, close the window, and then attempt to resend the edited attachment through email only to find that it's not in my downloads folder and that the "Mail Downloads" folder only has the original copy (without edits).
Under "Mail Preferences -> General -> Downloads folder:" I have it set to my actual Downloads folder so I don't understand what could be wrong. Anyone know what could be wrong? Thanks for the help!
P.S. I know that I can "Save As" the file and put it into my downloads folder, but that's a lot of unnecessary work when I'm downloading multiple attachments.

Select the photo(s) in the email body, Control (right) - click , and select Save to Downloads Folder from the contextual menu:

  • How can I automatically open Mail.app message attachments after downloading

The subject says it all, I think.
    My wish #1
Automatically Opening Mail.app message attachments after downloading
    My Wish #2
At least having the Finder automatically default to the folder I just downloaded to after completing the download.
Is this an option in Leopard, at least?

Very clever. But unfortunately that doesn't seem to work in Tiger.
Then again, I stil presume that when you do that, a ile is still downloaded and appears somewhere on your hard drive. If you "save as" the file opened by preview, you probably still need to go back to the place where the file was saved and delete it.
Then again again, if Preview is peeking into a Word or Excel attachment, it may not actually be "downloading it" first?? Strange. If it was a jpg file attachment, on the other hand, it seems more likely that some sort of file would be downloaded to the hard drive as a result of that drag and drop of the paper clip.
I did find that drag and drop capability interesting, though. Even in Tiger.
Oh well. I have to start looking at scripts.
When I downloaded that Automator application that was supposed to "close all open applications", I was surprised that it didn't work. Says it works with TIger. ???
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/
Was I supposed to import it into Automator as an "action" and save it as an Automator application and then open Automator and click "run" for that action each time I wanted to use it? Seams a bit cumbersome.

No assistance to date so here is an update on this problem
The problem appears to be initiated by my work e-mail address as I have added it to another BB a Z30 and all e-mails apart from my work e-mails will download attachments. As a test my e-mail address was added to a Samsung S4 and a Iphone 5, it works on these phones but not the BB's. My IT people have checked everything out and it is not a security issue otherwise I would be having the same problem on the other two phones.
I have three e-mail address on the phone, facebook and linkedIn, the other two phones  had four e-mail accounts after my account was added as well as linked in and facebook. I see I am not the only one that is having this problem  both the Z10 (10.2.0.424) and Z30 (10.2.0.253) have the latest upgrades available for the phones.
    Once again
    Thanks

Have you tried restarting the hub? To do this swipe down (diagonally) 5 times from the right corner of the display.
Click if you want to Thank someone. If Problem is resolved, so that others can make use of it.

  • Mail won't download messages with large attachments

    Mac OS 10.7.5
    Apple Mail 5.3 (1283)
When someone sends an email to me with an attachment of around 4 or 5 MB or larger (I haven’t quite figured out the size limit…it seems to vary a bit), Mail stops downloading all mail. I have to go into my webmail, remove the message with the attachment, and then all of a sudden Apple Mail will resume downloading e-mails from the server. Other computers in our office do not exhibit this behaviour, although they are using identical network, mail server (at Siteground, not managed by us), version of Mail, version of OS, etc.
When Mail exhibits this, I can ‘Get Info’ the account and I can see all the messages marked as from ‘Unknown sender’ and the e-mail sizes.
    How do I resolve this?

Try AttachedIn to send large attachments!
Very quick, easy to use and secured!

  • How to download MP3 mail attachments to iPhone 4s?

Newbie here with a question. How do I download MP3 mail attachments to my iPhone 4s? Word documents & Excel charts too for that matter. I work for a songwriter. Would be great help. So far, I can open the attachment fine. Just wondering if I could possibly do actual work on my iPhone instead of having to synch through a PC. Heard somewhere there's no file system on iPhone. Thus, I'm a bit lost. Thank you any & all who may be able to shed some light on this matter or suggest reading materials.

  • Mail wont download emails

The account checks out fine, even in the connection doctor but when I try to get new mail it starts to download then trickles down to 0kbps and sits there and after a while Mail just gives up and acts like it finished downloading when it really hasn't.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Dave

Same thing started happening to me today. It will only download 2-3 emails, I force quit mail, erase those downloaded emails from the server and it will download 2-3 new emails. It keeps saying there's 20 some emails, but it goes to 0kb.
I have 4 accounts on my mail, all 4 seem to have this problem..

  • Apple Mail won't download .doc attachments

Lacking a specific "Mail" catagory I've posted this here. Less than Ideal I know but here goes.
    This just started last week.
Many of us in the office and contractors we work with send .doc files by email. In the last four of five days (mid March 2014) Apple Mail no longer downloads them. See the attached image
We can see the document title with a download button above it. Clicking on the button does nothing. Right clicking and using "Save Attachment" yields a 0kb file. Right clicking and using "Open With" results in a blank Word document.
If I use mail clients other than Apple Mail (for example Thunderbird) the documents download correctly.
The problem is not related to spam filtering as we all use different services (and some use none at all).
This is the case across multiple macs using Mail. All the installs worked properly prior to about a week ago.
Is there a fix for this (other than everyone buying new machines and upgrading to newest software)?
    Thanks.

Because Mail is part of OS X you will find a forum in it for the version of OS X you have installed. For example if you have Mavericks 10.9.x then search in the Mavericks forum.

  • Automatically download mail attachments to desktop?

I'm trying to figure out how to use Mail's Rules to, as soon as it receives a mail matching specific criteria, to automatically copy any attachments from that to the desktop, then delete the e-mail.
    How can I do this?

Paste this in a Script Editor window, then save it as a script, probably in your Library/Scripts/Applications/Mail folder, so that it is also available in the script menu when you are in Mail.

  • Mail attachments not saving to the folder I choose

My mail attachments are not saving to the folder I choose.  When I select a file to save in the mail drop-down box, I am given options to save to a folder of my choice.  However, when I select save the document is actually saved deep in some Mail Downloads area, not in my chosen folder.  Has anyone had a similar problem and found a solution?

What kind of files are you trying to attach?
Is it all recipients having this problem or specific one(s)?
Could you possibly post a screenshot of the sent message from your side and a screenshot of what the recipient sees?
What happens if you send one of these messages to yourself?
