E-mail connection problems Mac OSX V. 10.6.8

I'm having problems connecting to my e-mail. When I do I get a message informing me that I have Mail version 4.5, and it can't be used on my current version-Mac OSX Version 10.6.8. Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this problem? I'm relatively computer illiterate. Thanks.

Hmm, it might explain why you are posting a question related to 10.6.x in a forum deicated to 10.8.x...
Click onto the apple icon in the uper left corner of the desktop, then choose Software Update. Since Mail is part of OS X, perhaps some update will help.
Else you might need to re-install OS X. But first, make sure you have a backup.

Mail Connection Problems after latest Maverick Update

My macbook pro contains the latest OS Maverick update (12/17/2013) and I am still having mail connection problems.
Several times an hour the mail app is dropping the mail connection on all my accounts. I have to sign in to all my connections each time the connection drops. Does anyone think of a solution to this problem? Anyone else still having this problem with Maverick Mail connections?

Same problem here. For a couple of weeks, I've had an error message that my accounts can't log in. I've gone thru the account prefs and made sure all settings are correct and set to Apple's suggested settings. Also getting double messages sometimes. Not all messages, but one or two will be doubled. This happens on my iPhone and Mac's. If I scroll the window the double message disappears.
Also had lots of errors that mail can;t be deleted. I go back and delete the message again and it goes away.
I kinda feel like this is Mavericks related since these issues were not happening under ML.

Apple Mail (v6.6, Mac OSX v10.8.5) mixes up mail threads - why, and what can I do?

I am having a weird synchronisation problem. My Mail (v6.6) on my MacBook Air (Mac OSX v10.8.5) mixes up random email threads after I read emails on my iPhone (5C).
E. g. there is an email thread with Frank. Frank writes a new email that I read on my iPhone. Shortly after, I open Mail on my MacBook, so that Frank’s email is downloaded there as well, displayed as "read" and added to the existing thread with Frank. However, although still being named "Frank", showing the current date and reference, in fact it is an email of Fritz from two years ago, having nothing at all to do with the thread with Frank.
Synchronising with the iPhone with USB has no effect, although the emails remain correctly displayed on the iPhone. On my MacBook’s Mail, the email from Fritz keeps to exist a second time at the time and place where it is supposed to be. Frank's email that has been replaced incorrectly, seems to be lost.
I don’t have to explain how unfortunate such random email shuffling is. I shall be thankful for any support and hints. Many thanks,

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.

3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

Pdf printing problem Mac OSX Snow Leopard Canon MP620 Pixma printer

After upgrading Adobe Reader version 9.3 to version 10 I cannot print pdf documents using Canon MP620 Pixma printer. Mac OSX Snow Leopard operating system. All other prining works OK. Never had problem before Error message "pstopdffilter/ pstocupsraster failed with err no. 13" comes up. What has happened and how do I put it right?

Bootcamp problems mac osx 10.8.3

Hey guys,
Yesterday bought the new mac mini 2011!
And today I wanted to install windows 8 or 7, it doesn't matter to me that much!
So i downloaded two versions of windows, two times an iso files.
I thought it was 64 bit, but not sure.
So i started bootcamp and clicked the create an instalation disc for windows 7 or above and imported the iso and selected my 8 GB usb but once I click the continue button it says that it doesn't support any windows version other then 64-bit, but i'm sure my version is 64 bit.
I tried the last option in bootcamp wich is: Install windows 7 or above, then I needed to make the partition wich went easy but once i clicked continue it says that it wasn't able to find the windows instalation disc.
Can somebody tell me how to fix the 64 bit problem, because i realy want windows on my mac!
If you're able to tell me the problem or give me a donwload link for a working windows version for my mac.
For the one who want to know my specs:
Mac mini late 2012
Bootcamp 5.0.2 (build 462)
Mac osX 10.8.3

I have the same Mini as you do. I have used boot camp but now I use Parallels 8 and Windows 7. Much easier to use and no program or driver issues. I would buy Parallels from Amazon for about $60.00 and load Windows into that. With Bootcamp you need to rely on the Apple drivers and sometimes they are picky.

"No network connection" on Mac OSX Freedome client when entering the code

Hi, Freedome Mac OSX lost the subscription information on version upgrade from the Beta version to the full version on last night. When I tryi to re-register using my existing code the application just shows "No network connection"-dialog and exits. What to try next? The Beta version client did not have any issues and now I'm not able to use my subscription. Regs,Harri

In order to make sure all traces of the Beta version are gone, please proceed to uninstall as follows:
-Remove Freedome from /Applications.
- Delete the folders "/Library/Application Support/F-Secure/FSFreedome" and "~/Library/Application Support/F-Secure/FSFreedome"
-Remove "Your F-Secure Freedome Key" from your login keychain (it's in Passwords category).
-Reinstall the latest version available here.

Internet connection problems with OSX 10.10.3

Does anyone else have very bad Internet connection problems after downloading OSX 10.101.3? Does anyone have a solution? P.S. What do you think of PHOTOS, after Aperture?

3, I think that Photos is a toy. Apple has basically neutered both Aperture and iPhotos with their efforts to make their desktop solution match the iOS solution.
I am currently looking for a non-Apple solution for my photographic needs since Photos in no way shape or form is able to fill my needs.

Nokia Lumia 920 - Not connecting on MAC OSX 10.6.8

I have this problem that alot of people are encounting but it seems having no solutions yet.
I bought my Nokia Lumia 920 a couple days ago, made all the updates alvaible but still I can't connect my phone to my MacBook Pro.
The funny part is that my dropbox application on my mac detect my phone and tries to import my pictures where neither iTunes or Finder are able to recognize my Nokia.
The all support we got is to download a app which is not working for the OSX 10.6.8 and they seem to force us to upgrade to the 10.7 OSX.
It is my right, as a consummer, to choose to OS I want for my laptop and it is to both Windows and Nokia to make their devices compatible to their customers computers.
So here is my call to all Nokia and Windows developpers: Do not ignore us, there is a problem and the first step in order to solve it is to recognize this problem.
The least you can do is to tell us that you are currently working on it because I feel all alone in the dark but I am pretty sure I am not alone and you might loose some clients that are delighted with your phone but really "**bleep**" off the way that they are treated in the process of solving this important problem.

I know people with very old macs, and they are happily using them for simple purposes. I have 10.6.8, and any upgrade would cost me some money to upgrade parallels. Macs can run for years, and I believe that it is important for equipment to be able to be used for long periods of time, if the user wishes. Also, earlier OS are very commonly unsed in coutries where money and internet is not as available as to many of us.
I also use a mac with XP as I need a small install base for only one PC based software that I occasionally use.
As a developer, I would expect them to look at the actual installed back of OS, and realise that some simple functionality should be backward to existing users. The ability for a phone to connect to earlier OS is something which I did not even think about - I thought it would be automatic. Its also not that difficult to develop.
The forums are awash with frustrated new pruchasers of Lumia phones, suddenly realising that their expected functionality with PC Suite, etc has now gone. Many of those people are very frustrated, and they will pass on their frustrations to others, and sales will be affected.
I have been a Nokia user now for about six years, and I have watched the same frustrations of users, requesting Nolia to develop expected connection, integration, and sync software that other phone manufacturers seem to be able to do. Finally, a reasonable PC Suite version is now developed, but not compatible with Lumia?? Do we have to go through the whole waiting thing again? Why cannot Nokia look at this not as a software problem, but an expected functionality feature.

Mail connection problems after sleep

Hi, since upgrading to new retina macbook pro my mail works although not well, most times it will not connect after sleeping, I need to close mail, sometime it will not close and requires a force close, and sometime not all acounts come back on line and I may need to shut down a second time to achieve this.
I do run 5 different email accounts, POP, IMAP and exchange and have a large amount of mail.

I share the same problems as you do with my MacBook Pro Late 2011.
For me this has happened only since I have upgraded to Mac OS X 10.8
I must say it has got a little better and does now go online fine after coming out of sleep once I applied the 10.8.2 update the other day.
I wonder if this is a bug relating to the different account types. I have a few email accounts running and like you these are, POP, IMAP and MS Exchange. Maybe if it had one account it's fine and that is the reason why not many people have complained about it?

Slow Ethernet Connection on Mac OSX 10.5.3

Hi,
I own a Macbook Pro with 10.5.3 and I am having a lot of problems with really slow connection. This is only happening in OSX though. I booted into Windows to see if it was my card and thank god it isn't (I never got Applecare).
Is anyone else having the same problem?

Connecting to shared internet connection through Mac osx 10.7 wifi

I can't get my new HP touch pad to connect to my wireless network. I connect my iMac through ethernet but have a wifi network setup from my iMac so my other devices can use my iMacs shared internet connection. The touchpad will not connect, it finds the network, I put in the WEP key and it states "unable to connect, try again". I am at the setup stage on the touch pad and can't get any further!!. I have tried everything I can think of including creating a new wireless network, disabling and changing the sharing password and re-enabling. all my other devices still log on fine and can connect to the internet through the iMacs connection. anyone got any ideas?

This sounds like an old problem we used to have when Palm came out with WiFi-enabled devices. Users would create an ASCII text password in their router, and it would generate a 10 character hexadecimal string that was the true password. Entering the 5-digit ASCII code would fail since it was a seed, and not the "real" code.. Entering the 10-digit key worked every time.
By any chance is this what is occurring on the Mac? Do you see a 10 digit code generated anywhere in the setup routine?

I'm having major problems connecting i touch with windows mail on Vista system. Charter Comm. has been no help. Is this a common problem. Any solutions?

What does " windows mail on Vista system. " have to do with your problem? Have you Googled for:
setup charter comm mail on iphone
for the necessary settings?
Any error messages when you set up the mail?
