E-mail disappear on my iPad without me deleting

e-mail disappear from my inbox on my ipad2 without me deleting. what should I do to prevent this from happening?

bob [ you knew my tongue was firmly in cheek - well, mostly ]
seems a futile effort. as I said before, messages are SMALL. For example, the notice of your post at   Jan 14, 2015 4:10 PM  CST/US when saved as from MS Entourage:
These clearly are BIGGER than the space they use in the Entourage database.
I do not know what methods are used to store on iPad, but for the sake of discussion, let's use Mac Finder filesize of HTML. Still seems a piddly amount compared to all the media stored locally - or is it all really on iCloud?
At any rate, nice guy that you are, why not illustrate How to get vkgibson's issue fixed now that we accept why?

  • How do I delete songs from iPad without Match deleting them from iCloud?

I've used Match to put a bunch of songs on my 16GB iPad and now I've run out of memory and need to remove some of them.  How do I remove them from the iPad without Match automatically deleting them from iCloud and iTunes on my laptop?  I only want to take the songs off the iPad.

This is a topic that has been covered in-depth on this forum.
You can delete individual songs by swiping across them and tapping the delete button. Or, in the Artist of Album view tap-n-hold for a second, then tap the "x" in the upper left to delete. Or you can delete all downloaded music by going to Settings > General > Usage, tapping Music, then swiping and tapping the delete button.
This will not remove the music from the cloud or the iTunes library.

  • Why did all my mail disappear on my ipad 2

When I went to check my email on my ipad the mail icon had no numbers on it and when I clicked on it I got the page to set up accounts. So I did a reset by holding sleep and power buttons and that worked and now I see all my emails from my two accounts. But I was just wondering what could have caused them to disappear?

Are you by chance using a POP account, as opposed to IMAP? If so, note that Apple regrettably doesn't preserve saved mail retrieved from a POP account through major iOS version upgrades. I lost several dozen emails myself. Fortunately many of them were also retrieved on my Mac, so I can re-forward them back to myself.

  • Why does my mail disappear on both iPad and iPhone4... only sometimes.  It's not in the trash so where does it go and why?

Why do I lose mail from my iPhone4 and recently from my iPad2?  It happens infrequently, but when it does the messages completely disappear from my device(s); the messages are not in my trash.

OK, so I decided that maybe if I "sync" my iPod instead of just copying stuff to it at will, that maybe it would fix the problem.  I did a "restore", wiping out the contents.  I set up a "playlist", and put everything that I wanted on the iPod into the "playlist".   Then I "synced" the "playlist" onto the iPod.  Every song and album now had the proper album art.  I could live with this.   Then I added another album to the "playlist", and "synced".  The new album was now on the iPod with the correct artwork.  The albums that were already on the iPod now either had their appropriate artwork, no artwork, or the artwork from the other albums that were already on the iPod, with no rhyme or reason as to which was which.  AARGH.   I wiped it out and re-added the now-explanded "playlist" and "synced" again, and every album had the right cover.   I guess the only thing to do is completely replace the contents of the iPod any time I want to add or change anything, or forget about artwork.

  • HT1329 My old computer is dead, but I have all my songs on my iPod.  Is there a way to simply move my music from my iPod to my iPad without it deleting anything off the iPod?  It took a lot of work to put my library in, and I don't want to loose that work

My old iTunes computer is dead, but all my music is still on one of the first versions of the IPod.  Can I transfer my music library to my iPad.  I believe my iPad is the first one that was released.

See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • Safari browser disappeared from my iPad

Safari browser disappeared from my iPad

It cannot be deleted or reinstalled. It is on the iPad somewhere.
Swipe from screen to screen to look for it.
Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

  • Why do my documents disappear on my device when I delete my iCloud account?

Why do my documents disappear on my iPad when I delete my iCloud account.  I don't want to sync all the aps from my iPhone to my iPad, so I deleted my iCloud account on my iPad, but all my documents disappeared from my iPad.  How can I get them back??

To access documents in the cloud, the iCloud account needs to be setup.
If you don't want all apps to automatically sync to your iPad, just turn that option off in Settings > Store

  • Mail Disappears off iPad after I access my mail on Mac

I have a MacPro desktop, iPad, and iPhone, all tied together, all running the most recent updates.  Recently, my iPad was acting up and not retrieving my mail on my main account.  The other devices were (and continue to be) just fine.  I deleted that mail account off my iPad, then added it back in.  Email began behaving and getting delivered just like always EXCEPT if I then check email on my MacPro.  Once I do that, all inbox email associated with my main account, both read and unread COMPLETELY disappears off my iPad.  Even if the message is flagged, it is gone.  Everything stays put on the Mac and the iPhone until I delete it or otherwise.
I searched these communities and thus far have tried shutting down all background apps, restarting (multiple times) and changed the delete messages setting to "never", which really should only matter to trashed messages, not those sitting in my inbox.
I checked the "server port" on my phone and compared it to the one on my iPad.  They were different, so I put them both on the same one as the iPhone.  The message showed up on the Mac and on the iPad, but as soon as I refreshed the mail (such as to update), **POOF** the message in my inbox was gone on the iPad.
I would be most appreciative if someone could offer me insight as to why this occurs and how I can fix it.  Likely it is some squirrelly setting I haven't discovered yet, but I am hoping one of you geniuses out there can set me straight!
    Thank you in advance~

Well, cripes.  My husband just saved the day for me.  We had to force the iPad to take a POP account.  Here's how we did that:
Create a new mail account on the iPad with a bogus email address and a different name from your problematic IMAP account.  In my case, I doubled up on a number that is part of my email address.  Thankfully, nobody else had that email address
When the iPad refused to add the account because it was a bogus email address and came up with the error message, THEN it let me choose the ability to add a POP account.
I was able to edit out the extra number from the bogus email address to my true email address.  I had to do this in three places: the main account name, the inbox info and the outbox info, and take out the "IMAP.xxxxx " part and replace it with the "mail.xxxxxx" entry that goes with my POP account (that was listed in the settings on both of my other devices that were behaving: the iPhone and the MacPro).
Now you should have two accounts for the same email address (with two different names) showing on the iPad.  Go back through mail settings and "DELETE ACCOUNT" for the IMAP version that was screwing everything up.
Inbox messages should now stay on your iPad because it is using the same type of account the other devices are.
Apple, why in the name of all things good and electronic would you make it a default to IMAP without an obvious way to choose to do a POP?   Good grief I had a week of stress over this whole thing and nobody else seemed able to figure it out either.

  • HT1694 how do I delete a suspicious e-mail on my iPad without opening it first?

How do I delete a suspicious e-mail on my iPad without opening it first?

Who is your mail service provider?
You could delete it going through Safari and logging into your mail via whoever your service is through (Comcast, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) or if it's via iCloud, log into that service and delete it there.

Your Settings app is crashing. Sometimes, the only way to fix this is by restoring the iOS software but hopefully it will not come to that.
    1. Quit the app completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    2. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    3. You can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your app preferences and device settings again.

How do I have my newest messages appear in apple mail on my iPad without having to scroll up each time

I'm not sure what you mean. My new email messages are always at the top of the preview pane at the top of the screen. However, you can quickly scroll back to the top of the screen by tapping the top of the screen above the word InBox at the top. Tap on the black part of the screen and the preview window will quickly scroll to the top.

  • Will mail messages move from iPad to iMac without WIFI?

I have an iMac, but do not have regular internet service at my house.  I'm considering buying an iPad with 3G to access the internet.  If I download my mail messages on the iPad and then sync it with the iMac, do the messages move over onto the iMac or do they just stay on the iPad?

The warning about the deletion of the mails of the account in question can only refer to the inbox. No email you have archived or put into a different folder will be deleted. If you're still worried back everything up before going ahead.

  • Mails disappear without a trace

Can somebody please explain why incoming mails disappear? It comes up in the messagesbox but then suddenly it vanishes. Nothing in the junkbox or any other folder in mail.
    Any help is welcome

Hi Ernie, In the event it helps, when I try to find these again by going to the Finder menu under Go, they only come up when I select Norm with the little house icon. (If I try to find them by double-clicking on my Norm hard-drive icon on my desktop and then go down to the Mail folder under the Library folder, there is nothing listed and no deleted files.)
Again, back to my home icon where I found these deleted files: actually, there is no POP Account Folder in the LibraryMail portion here. The sequence of how I found them is: Norm (house icon), Library folder, Mail folder, [email protected] folder, Deleted Messages folder (with no add'l designation as you mentioned), Messages folder, and then all the deleted messages which I can click twice to open (i.e. titled "12462.emix"). Lastly, in this Deleted Messages folder, showing directly above the Messages folder (both the same left justified) is a file entitled "info.plist"
I am simply reporting the info to you as clearly as I can, Ernie. Norm
