E-mail folders disappeared

When cleaning my e-mail folders in the bluewin web site, all my e-mail folders vanished and I cannot find them, neither on the bluewin site nor on my iMac, macbook and iPhone.  How can I recover my e-mails.  I do a backup on the LACIE external drive, but do not know how to find the e-mails on it.  Please help.
Raya

Bring the Mail browser window forward, then enter Time Machine. You'll see a series of Mail windows cascading back in time. Each one represents a snapshot of the Mail database.
Scroll back to the most recent snapshot containing the messages you want to restore. Select the messages, then click Restore. The messages will be restored to a new mailbox. From there you can move them wherever you like.

  • Mail folders disappeared and Thunderbird asks me to start a new account.

I started up my computer as usual and Thunderbird did an automatic update. Then Thunderbird opened but the screen has no mail folders. There is a new user screen offering me a gandi email and asking me to add an account. No matter what I do or how I log on, I can't find any of my mail folders or accounts EXCEPT that the address book is there.

Thank you Airmail...this got me a little way toward a solution but is a bit over my head! (not techy here).
Since my address book looks fine, I followed the "lost/corrupt" directions. I located the pref file and see several "mail.account" lines there (a server and identity for each email address??)
The next sentence in the instructions confused me. If I DO find mail.accounts, what then? Do I need to then go on to #1 and #2 below, back up and find a new copy of the js prefs file? How and where would I find a new copy?
    Thanks...

  • Yahoo mail folders disappeared

On ipad with yahoo mail account, all my yahoo folders such as the sent folder and folders I created disappeared after I also set up a yahoo mail account on my iphone.  I have iCloud mail on for ipad and iphone.  ipad is new ipad with ios 5.1.1 and iphone is 4s with 5.1.1.  Note that earlier I said the 4s had ios 5.1 but I installed the update to 5.1.1.

I had the same problem and found a solution on another forum.  Above the column heading line is a line with icons starting with the "Compose Message".  The second icon from the right should be the one to "Switch View".  Hover over it to verify.  From the dropdown menu select "Page by Page (Classic)" option.  Click "Ok" to confirm.  Using the same dropdown , switch back to your original view option.  The date column should have been restored,  I tried doing this through the Options>Mail Options dropdown a the top of the page without success; so, don' t bother trying it that way.
    Good Luck!

  • Mail Folders Disappeared After Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion!

Okay, I am in a VERY desprate situation. (Please read the entire post before responding, I apologize for the length...)
My school had a mandatory re-imaging to upgrade to this new Mountain Lion operating system.
I backed up/exported all of my files, but was told I wouldn't need to back up or export anything in my e-mail.
After getting my laptop back, I opened mail to find that ALL of the folders I had created to organize college information was GONE.
The e-mails had very important information so I need to retrieve them ASAP!
I scoured through a lot of posts on here to find that many others had the same issue.
They solved it by going to the lefthand sidebar and hovering their cursor over ON MY MAC (or ICLOUD) then clicked "SHOW" and their lost folders were automatically restored. However, I do not see either ON MY MAC or ICLOUD as options. I see MAILBOXES and below that SMART MAILBOXES then below that my school's server which has the options of  "JUNK E-MAIL" and "RSS FEEDS." Nothing else is in my lefthand bar.
I WILL BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ME WITH THIS.
In all hopes, I did not lose these e-mails for good!
    Thanks. -Frustrated Mac User

  • Yosemite: Mail folders moved and messages disappear

OS X 10.10.1 on a Mac Mini 2.6 GHz, 8gb RAM, 1tb HD, Gmail setup as IMAP in Mail, personal mail folders sorted alphabetically
Intermittently while moving Inbox messages to personal folders, or opening messages in personal folders, the folders will drop to the bottom of the folder list and messages within the folders will disappear. Rebuilding the mailbox will usually make the messages appear, however the personal folders have to be moved back to their original positions. These instances have occurred frequently enough to be annoying and time wasting. Please advise. Thanks.

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. Click OK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Why is the mail in my yahoo and other folders disappearing?

Please help I am new to apple and I pad and need my email.. The mail that is just disappearing is from yahoo, hotmail, the g mail doesn't seem to be affected.

All the YAHOO emails I move from the inbox to my folders disappear after a couple of days - I just spoke to Yahoo Customer Services via Live Chat and they advised me that it's a known issue that they are working on - in the meantime their advice is not to move emails between folders using an iOS device or open any from within a folder - i.e. on your iPad/iPhone only view them in your Inbox.  Sent Items folder isn't affected.

  • When using mail on my iMac, my folders disappeared.  Using OS X Yosemite v 10.10.1 and Mail v 8.1 How do I get them back?

When using mail on my iMac, my folders disappeared.  I am using OS X Yosemite v 10.10.1 and Mail v 8.1 How do I get them back?

The mailbox list is divided into categories with headings in caps, such as ON MY MAC. When you hover the cursor over one of those headings (except for MAILBOXES), you should see the word Show or Hide on the right. Click Show. The  MAILBOXES category can't be hidden.
In each category, the mailboxes are arranged in groups, such as Inbox. To the left of each group is a small disclosure triangle. If the triangle points to the right, click it so that it points down.

  • After loading lion email bodies disappear in old mail folders

Older exchange based mail folders show only headers but no content in mail...

    Ernie,
    thanks for the links.
I'm not sure which mail version I was using, it was under 10.3.(the latest version)
I compared the mail files on my laptop to the mail files on my desktop.
It seems that I'm in trouble.
Using the "INBOX.mbox" as an example, in my laptop files there is a folder called "messages" and inside there are xxx.emix files. On my desktop in the "INBOX.mbox" the "messages" folder is missing. This is the case for all the mail folders saved from the old OS. There are no xxx.emix files to be found.
Fortunately I have most of my received emails backed up also on the laptop.
I'm guessing I can import those. I'll just be missing all my sent emails from the desktop.
The main glitch that occured when installing Tiger is that the 10.4.7 upgrade caused my desktop to not start up past the spinning cog screen. I then re-booted from the install disk and used the utility app to copy the info from the main hard drive to a secondary drive. I did this after the initial 10.4.0 install. I'm guessing that something did not make the transfer? I had to do a clean install to get the computer to work. I hope this makes sense.

  • My mail folders have disappeared

I failed to heed my own advice:
"Never install a new OS on a mission critical system in the first 3-6 month."
I updated to Mountain Lion and all the mail folders that I created and all the mails that I
saved for the past four years are gone.
    1. Where are they?
    2. Can I use Time Machine to restore them?
    This is unbelievable.
I have a backup of my main hard but its more than three months all.
Thank you inadvance for all your help

your mail should still be there. On the left where it say's mailboxes, go down to ON MY MAC or ICLOUD. When you hold your curser over that you should see "show" . Click on that and you should see your mailboxes.

  • Sent and draft mail folders on Mail app disappeared

After I set my iPad 2 to display 1,000 emails, I went to press 'Load more messages' in the Mail app. After loading, my sent and draft mail folders were wiped out without a trace. Does anyone know how to rectify this issue? I have very important information in those folders.

I can't say for sure that this will work either, but when I run into issues like this, I just start toggling the settings - maybe set to show 500 messages then go back to mail and see if the download more messages comes back. Maybe turn the accounts off and then on again. I
could not get my email to load at all today - 4 different email accounts and all 4 seemed to shut down at once. I just kept turning mail off and on and restarted the device a couple of times and then it worked - all 4 accounts started loading mail again.
Sometimes, just restarting the iPad or resetting it can make things come back as well. Have you tried restarting or resetting? By resetting I mean hold the sleep and home buttons down until the Apple logo appears.

  • How do I restore my archived mail folders after downloading Yosemite

After downloading Yosemite, all my archived mail folders have disappeared - can someone please help me, I really need to get this information back?

    Do you have a backup?
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then Mail/V2/Mailboxes

  • Have lost all my mail folders on Thunderbird, how do i get them back?

I lost my second search window for Thunderbird Mail so went to VIEW, TOOLBARS and selected all three options - MAIL, STATUS and QUICK FILTER. I got my search window back that enables me to search my emails for messages from a specific person. However, I then lost all of my folders (mailboxes) in my inbox - everything from A to Z bar two folders titled ALFIE and APPLE MAC EMAILS.
These folders contain everything email like from my clients that is relevant to my business. Each folder is a client name and each contains any number of emails and replies.
I clicked the REPAIR FOLDER option in order to try and do exactly that, repair the folders but so far that only appears to have been applied to the emails in my inbox, the ones that have not yet been filed in the individual folders.
I moved to Thunderbird because I was told it was a safe and easy to use system but I am struggling with this aspect of it.
    Any help gratefully received!

No anti virus software running as far as I am aware, as in I didn't launch any before reinstating the search email function.
I was running a folder repair function on my inbox (which seemed to complete successfully for the emails in the inbox) when I noticed the majority of the mail folders had disappeared.
