E-mail issue after using Desktop Manager

I am a new BB user (Curve 8530). So I am confused with this issue. Couple of days back I connected phone to my laptop and used desktop manager (ver 5.0.0.11). I just wanted to explore the features of DM. After I disconnected from laptop, the company account emails stopped coming to the handheld nor I could send any from the company mail-id from the phone. I have configured gmail and hotmail on the BB. These were operational perfectly. Only the official mail-id was not getting synched. And I started getting mails with etp.data files in my outlook. The company BB admin guys resolved the issue. So everything was fine. But no one could tell what was wrong. So today I again connected to the phone to DM cause I wanted to move contact from outlook to phone. Now again, i have the same issue. No official emails on my phone. I am sure the admin guys will again solve the issue. But I need to know why is this happening, else i won't be able to use DM at all. can some one explain as to why this could happening. should i check/change any setting on phone or DM.

I am not sure this could help, but when you first intalled DM, did you onfigure it for Enterprise Use? Are you running 5.0.1 or 6.0? In the 5.0.1 version, you had to set it up for BES use when first installing the software.
Also, validate with IT the email and other security policies they have in place for BES users...
I know I am providing more questions than solutions, but hopefully they will steer you in the right way...

  • Curve 8330 Freezing After Using Desktop Manager

    I recently downloaded and used the new Desktop Manager for Mac from RIM, and now my phone is freezing up. If I allow the screen to go dark the phone will freeze up and not respond, though it still recognizes the shift and alt keys (the icons appear in the upper right corner). I am at a loss for what to do. a hard or soft reset fixes it temporarily, but I don't have time to do a reset every time I want to use my phone.
    Please help!!!

  • Wrong Mail Domain after using Profile Manager

    Hi,
    we've set up a Lion 10.7.2 Server with Directory Services, Web, Mail and a few other services. The hostname of our system is mail.mydomain.com, the internet hostname ist mail.mydomain.com, it's mail domain setting is of course set to mydomain.com. Now, when setting up a user using Server.app it correctly fills the Email account with [email protected] So far so good.
    After logging in as the user on a client, setting the Network account server in Preferences -> Users to "mail.mydomain.com" - which happens to be the Directory Server as well - i go to https://mail.mydomain.com/profilemanager. The Administrator configured a payload in "Settings for everyone" which has been assigned to me containing the correct Mail setup preferences (Mailserver: mail.mydomain.de, CORRECT Mail adress nothing wrong noticable) In the browser, i download and install it on my machine.
    Here's the problem:
    Now, after opening my Apple Mail (which has been automatically setup up due to the profile) and try sending mail i'll always get the account [email protected] which is clearly not right. I could change the adress by hand in my accounts but i don't want to Could this just be a profile manager or Apple Mail bug? We've triple checked the settings and everything looks ok.

    Having the same problem ... setup in profile manager:
    protocol: IMAP
    email address: [email protected]
    incomming mail: mail.company.com
    username: [email protected]
    on the client:
    email address: [email protected]@mail.company.com
    Since the outgoing server doesn't need authentication in my network (its an SSL relay), it's pulling the IMAP Email address field for identification rather than than the username, so configuring this from Profile Manager doesn't work.

  • Add or edit address book using Desktop Manager

    Is there any way that I can add or edit my address book using the Desktop software? I would like to input email addresses and other information into my address book on my blackberry without having to type everything in on the blackberry. I was hoping there would be a way to do that on my PC and have it sync to my phone.

    he following steps will help you to configure synchronization -
    Connect your device using Desktop Manager and click on Synchronization
    From the menu on the left click Synchronization under Configuration
    Again click Synchronization button on the right which will give you option to Select Device Application that you want to synchronize
    Put the check mark and you'll get a prompt to Select Desktop Application
    Highlight the application name and click next button
    Under Synchronization Option you get Direction of Synchronization
    Check the radio button with Two way sync
    Note: above mentioned steps are explained as per Desltop Manager 4.5
    Example: Synchronize addressbook -
    Connect you HH with your desktop Manager in your PC. If you device is set to wireless sync then you need to turn off wireless synchronization. To do so go to Address Book -> click Menu -> Options -> Wireless Synchronization: No -> click Menu and Save the changes.
    Click on the Synchronize button on Desktop Manager -> Click on Configuration Tab then click on Configure Synchronization -> Click on Choose under Address Book (on the right side of the pop up window) -> Click on you organizer apps (like, MS outlook, Lotus notes etc) -> Select desired apps -> select Synchronization radio button and click OK twice go back to Synchronize tab ->click on Synchronize Now.

    hi everyone! im new to this forum so dont knw how long it will take before people reply. lets give it a shot lol
    i just wanted to know if its possible to set up their blackberry manager in such a way that it automatically uploads files to to a computer once connected to a network?
    all sugestions will be much appreciated
    thanks,
    ricky

    You're welcome.
    Let's start with your device model, you've gotten to post that.
    But we gotta have some detail of what you're trying to do. In your first post and thread title you mentioned with using Desktop Manager, then you most recent post says without using any "middleman".
    You can use Bluetooth to transfer from the BlackBerry to the PC. You can use Desktop Manager for that, but not for document files like Word. You can use Media Manager for that transfer, but there's another middleman you don't want.
    Automatic? Maybe not. Even using a simple application on your PC like SyncToy will require some user interaction.

  • Update software without using Desktop Manager

    I'm trying to update my BB 8520 because it's been playing up (again) and I've tried using the desktop manger to update it but it doesn't seem to let me complete the update even though it says there is one. Is there anyway of updating it through the internet like a website or something, or does it have to be through the desktop manager?
    Thanks.

    See the link below for the download, and follow these simple installation instructions.
    First locate your carrier and the OS file you wish to use.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    Do a backup of your device first, using Desktop Manager > Backup. Close Desktop Manager upon completion.
    1. Download the OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
    2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
    3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

  • Issue syncing Bold 9650 and Entourage Calendar using Desktop Manager

    I'm trying to sync calendar items in Entourage residing on my MacBook Pro with calendar items on my BB Bold 9650 and noticed that "Entourage" is no longer offered as a calendar choice with which to sync (I've been a BB and Entourage user for 2 years and this is a new issue - Entourage used to be offered as a choice).  I tried to fix by uninstalling Desktop Manager and reinstalling with newest version - no change - problem persists.  Calendar items are not syncing between BB and Entourage - any idea how to fix?

    My apologies hiforman.
    If you click on Calendar in BlackBerry Desktop Software does it list more than 1 calendar?
    Also you're saying in Contacts does it just list entourage?
    Also open up iCal on the Mac, do you see an entourage calendar listed?
    I look forward to your reply.

  • Using Desktop Manager for managing Evolution Mail-Accounts

    hi there,
    where can i find a documentation that describes how i can manage
    evolution acocunts within Desktop Manager. I just can add an account name
    but i can not define the account specific configuration data such as the
    type of email server (in our case: M$ Exchange and SUN JES Server)
    and based on the type of email server i must add some more or less configuration
    information.
    second question : can i use some variables for those configuration data such as
    $USERNAME to configure the evolution email account using the correct username ?
    the password has to be entered by the user if he/she runs evolution for the first time.
    thanks in advance
    cheers
    joerg

    Hi Joerg,
    The documentation for the Desktop Manager focuses on the common parts of the operation of the product, the details of the meaning of each setting are more related to the application to which they belong, which is why they don't feature in the general administration manual. You can, however, find more contextual information about the various pages of the Desktop Manager by clicking on the "More" button present on each of these pages, for instance in the case of the Evolution accounts, this would have told you about the fact that the Accounts field is a list of strings containing the XML account description (though I'll grant you that in this particular case, it's a bit on the terse side).
    As for the placeholders, you need to update your Sun Ray server with patch 120454 (120455 depending on your platform) revision 02, so that the GConf adapter which integrates Desktop Manager data into the Gnome configuration handles the placeholder properly. Then you have the possibility of using the special strings "[apoc.<attribute>]" in the configuration settings, which will be replaced when evaluated with the value of <attribute> in the LDAP user entry.
    As an example (which you should adapt to the contents of your LDAP server and the actual definition you want to use for your Evolution accounts), you could for instance use the following XML blob for an Evolution account (I've formated it nicely for display purposes, you will want to paste as a single line into that Accounts list):
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <account name="[apoc.mail]" uid="[apoc.uid]" enabled="true">
         <identity>
             <name>[apoc.cn]</name>
             <addr-spec>[apoc.mail]</addr-spec>
             <reply-to></reply-to>
             <organization></organization>
             <signature auto="false" default="-1"/>
             </identity>
         <source save-passwd="false" keep-on-server="false" auto-check="true" auto-check-timeout="10"/>
         <transport save-passwd="false">
             <url>smtp://[apoc.givenname].[apoc.sn]@[apoc.mailhost]</url>
         </transport>
         <drafts-folder>file:///home/[apoc.uid]/evolution/local/Drafts</drafts-folder>
         <sent-folder>file:///home/[apoc.uid]/evolution/local/Sent</sent-folder>
         <auto-cc always="false">
             <recipients></recipients>
         </auto-cc>
         <auto-bcc always="false">
             <recipients></recipients>
         </auto-bcc>
         <pgp encrypt-to-self="false" always-trust="false" always-sign="false" no-imip-sign="false">
             <key-id></key-id>
         </pgp>
        <smime encrypt-to-self="false" always-sign="false"/>
    </account>Now to go back to your problem with getting the profiles you've assigned with the Desktop Manager visible on the user's desktop, I can first offer a few remarks on your configuration:
    - you've specified a DN and password for authentication to your LDAP server, I would like to point out that the agent (as opposed to the Desktop Manager itself) will only ever perform read accesses to your LDAP server (to find the user entry, figure out its position in the hierarchy and retrieve the applicable profiles), so you don't need to provide a user with write access, let alone administrative priviledges, as you seem to have done. If your LDAP server setup supports anonymous read access, I would advise you to leave these fields blank in the agent configuration;
    - you've set the ChangeDetectInterval, DaemonChangeDetectInterval, TimeToLive and GarbageCollectionInterval to 1 (minute), which is unnecessary and for some of them probably detrimental to the performance of the agent operation. I can expand if you wish on the meaning of each of these (though I think that's described in the manuals), but I would advise you put back the default values for all of these settings, except maybe the ChangeDetectInterval while you're testing the product (this is the setting used to determine how often the user data is refreshed, i.e how often the changes from the Desktop Manager are propagated to the desktop applications, one minute is fine for testing purposes but you should put it back to its sixty minutes default once the profiles are fairly stable in order to minimise the activity of the agent).
    Please first try and make the above changes to the agent configuration, and check whether the problem you're having is still present. If so, we can look into other potential causes for the problem.
    Regards,
    Cyrille

  • Issues using Desktop Manager

    Thanks to all of you who try to help all of us with problems. I've just spent some 2-3 hours reading through various posts, working on my list of questions, etc. I'm not a fast reader, unfortunately. And, even while looking for the area of my specific issues I've learned things. Unfortunately, I have so many questions it's hard to imagine how I can find the time to track them all down. I have one of those jobs that generally takes much of my time, so I sometimes don't get to even check my personal email for several days.
    But this message is because it mentions configuring the desktop manager, which I've had trouble with. But I can't figure out how to get the answers I need. One major issue that I find irritating is that when I start up the DM it always tries to set up email... I have set up 3 emails which are forwarded to my BBy, and I'm happy with that. One of them is MS Outlook from one of my jobs. But I can't seem to set up anything that works to keep this from reappearing each time I start up. I also don't know what I'm doing when I'm trying to configure... all the choices that I don't understand, I worry that I'll mess up something that's working well.
    I've been interrupted now, so can't continue my inquiry.
    Thanks for all your help.

  • Sync Error "An error has occurred please try again" with Contacts using Desktop Manager

    Hello,
    I've been trying to fix my Boss's sync issue for sometime. I hope some one can help.
    He has a BB Curve
    He uses Microsoft Entourage 2008 sync'd with Mac's Address Book
    His desktop manager is up to date
    When syncing contacts he gets "An error has occurred please try again"
    I went under advanced settings and click replace everything on blackberry device. That worked and his phone is now up to date with his address book however if you don't click "Replace.." the error still occurs.
    He fusterated because he wants to be able to sync back and forth not just from his computer to his phone. I hope this all makes sense and someone can help.
    Thank you

  • How to use Desktop Manager to synchronize several address books?

    Customer found on BlackBerry device - address book options - there's 2 Desktop under Address Books. How to specify which address book will be synchronized with outlook via desktop manager as  a wired sync?

    Your having this issue, because at first, your blackberry was trying to sync via the BES, then you hooked it up to the desktop manager. The desktop managed then tried to sync the device over the wire via the desktop manager and turned of wireless sync, how do you wanna sync, wirelessly, or through the BES?
    If you wanna do it through the BES, you have to delete desktop cmime, desktop sync and desktop cical and resent those from the server to get wireless sync back.
    to get to servic book, go to settings/options/advanced options/service book and scroll to these service books and delete them, then from the bes manager, repush service books will resent them, this  can take up to 15 minutes though.
    If you wanna sync via the wire, just sync with the desktop manager, you should not be trying to do both
    If someone helped you give them kudos. Research all info!

  • Just upgraded to Lion, problem now syncing contacts onto Blackberry using Desktop Manager

    I just upgraded to Lion, got iCloud going.  Works great with my iPhone, but my husbands Blackberry no longer syncs properly using the Blackberry Desktop Manager.  Installed the latest version of that program & still no luck.  The calendar, music and photos sync fine, but all of the contacts have been wiped out now on the phone and not a single one will sync over from the mac.

    I have the same problem.  I've tried many solutions but no success.  ICloud has been a curse.  I love my Mac but if I can't sync my BB 9930, I may have to change.
