E-Mail Message Folders

I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 through AT&T.  I recently upgraded the software on the phone and Desktop Manager to 4.5.  Currently I have an e-mail account at att.blackberry.net.  I also have a personal google mail account that I setup on my Blackberry.  Those accounts seem to be functioning correctly on my Blackberry.  I have two work e-mail accounts that I want sent to my Blackberry.  Currently I have those two work e-mail accounts setup to copy every inbound message to my att.blackberry.net account.
Preferably I would like to setup individual accounts (folders) on my Blackberry for the two work e-mail accounts while removing the copying to att.blackberry.net.  I have tried doing this on AT&T's Blackberry Internet Service website, but they keep identifying the mail server as IMAP4 when it is POP3.  I cannot change this setting.
The other option is to leave my Blackberry as it is with the copies sent to att.blackberry.net and create e-mail message folders to filter the work e-mail messages to.  Supposedly there is a way to do this via Blackberry Desktop Manager, but I keep looking for the E-Mail Settings in that software and I do not have that option.
What are your recommendations about how to proceed?

You have in your device the icon to setup mail?, you can add the accounts from this icon.
If you don't have the icon call att customer service and ask for the setup mail icon in your device.
If I help you with any inquire, thank you for click kudos in my post.
If your issue has been solved, please mark the post was solved.

  • Trying to restore Mail messages & folders

Before doing a clean install of Leopard, I did a complete backup of my system. After restoring my data, I did not realize that I had a problem with Mail. Though many of my email messages are listed, I am missing all of the local sub-folders and their respective messages. I can see other local folders and read the messages, but the sub-folders are all missing. For example, I had a folder called "work" and other work-related folders within them. "Work" is still there, but not the others. Also, I had always kept a backup, local folder of my sent emails. While I can see this list of "sent" messages, I can no longer access any of them: when I attempt to open any local "sent" messages, the content is blank.
Here's the kicker: I've been using Mail a lot each day and am afraid that a fix might wipe out my newer messages. Can anyone offer any advice as to what files I need to restore from my external hard drive without erasing the newer emails?
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Hey, it really depends from what you upgraded from. Usually a mailbox rebuild is a simple way to restore everything that "appears" to be missing, but sometimes it can be more tricky.
Here is a link to a previous discussion on this forum that addresses these issues in much detail: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5754646&#5754646
    I hope this helps.

  • List view status of flagged messages in Yosemite Mail Smart Folders

I'm using Mail in Yosemite with an Exchange server. Before Yosemite, everything was fine, now I have an issue with message flag status in Smart Folders. I have a Smart Folder which is my "ongoing" mail folder; it is set to only show unread and/or flagged messages. In the latest version of Mail, setting the messages flagged status does not change the flag icon in the message list, but does in the header of the actual mail message. The only way to get the flag to show up in the list is to select another folder and then reselect the smart folder. It does this on both my MacBook Pro and iMac, with with the latest Yosemite version and all updates applied.
In the previous OS X Mail (Mavericks) changing the flag status would remove/add the flag icon in the message list pane; now it doesn't. It's insanely annoying.
Anyone else seen this bug? I have tried recreating the smart folder and that makes no difference, neither has rebuilding the mailbox/deleting index/envelope file. No changes have been made to our Exchange server.
    Cheers
    Matthew

Well, I guess those are more "smart inboxes" and not "smart mailboxes" in iOS...

  • MobileMe top-level folders not accepting mail messages

    Strange thing...
Now that iPhone has "push" mail, I decided to take all my mail from Mail.app on my mac up to my MobileMe account. I wanted to do this as-is, but it's not quite that simple... However, the whole folder structure and all e-mails therein are now happily living in MobileMe.
Except that they are not! All the Top-Level folders that contain other folders are now white in Mail.app, and don't exist at all in MobileMe. It's as if all folders were one level higher than they should be - all folders directly contained in a white parent folder appear as top level folders in MobileMe!! On the iPhone, they do exist, but their names are greyed out. Both in Mail.app and on the iPhone, they are empty and you cannot add mail messages to them even though, in Mail.app "on my Mac" they still contain mail and will happily accept mail messages...
What gives? Is there something I need to do to change them from "folder folders" into "mail folders that happen to also have folders in them"???
    G>

Not a single answer or post on this...
I decided to create new folders and add a dummy place holder message in them, then move over all the subfolders to this one. There was a bit of strange behaviour when synchronising with MobleMe (old folder disappeared without my deleting it, etc) but now all is well and all my top level folders can accept mails.
During the process, it seems like MobileMe didn't know that these folder existed - when renaming or deleting them, I do an error saying that they did not exist. Indeed, on MobileMe, they did not exist and this resulted in all the first level subfolders being at the top level in me.com - very messy. It looks a lot better now!

  • Mac Mail Smart Folders triplicate messages (Gmail-based mail server)

I can't get Mail Smart Folders to work well with my Virginmedia mail server, which seems to use a Gmail type of system. (I'm using IMAP).
It is easy to set up an instruction to select mail e.g. from defined individuals only, or any other qualifier.
However, I get all mail in triplicate: from the normal Inbox, but also from Gmail-type "All Mail" and "Important" inboxes. I know these mailboxes exist on the Virginmedia server, and also, virtually, in Mail, but I don't ever look at them or need to.  There might be a way of not having all mails defined as "Important" on the server, but "All Mail" exists by default and can't be removed, for obvious reasons.
I have tried various additional instructions in the Smart Folder such as include if "Message is in Inbox", but that selects all messages. Also, if "Message is not in Inbox", so that I get only two sets of messages, but that has produced strange results such as messages marked as in Spam folder, which seem to have nothing to do with the defined instructions.
Is there anything "smart" I can do about this, or is it just a matter of Mail not being up to speed with Gmail-based servers. It's just an annoyance, more than anything.

    Nope. Gone.
I went to my second mac. Opened Mail, it refreshed its previous state, with 1100 messages in the Inbox, I was relieved and while thinking about my backup options, Mail started its new activity cycle and POOF....Gone. One test message in the Inbox.

  • Smart Folders, Spotlight comments and Apple mail messages

    Hi,
I have a simple question, but couldn't figure it out yet:
I have a workflow that tags specific mail messages according to the specific mail inbox folders I assign them to (be it via incoming rules, or Act-On rules) by automatically adding specific Spotlight comments.
My mail messages, therefore, have text in their comment boxes (if you check via GetInfo).
When I use Spotlight, I can find mail messages by searching for the comments - this is exactly as expected.
I however also have smart folders (searching for a specific Spotlight comment) that list other files that I tag with the same Spotlight comments - but my Smart Folders never find the mail messages with the requested tags (at most they find the folder that contains the messages if this folder is tagged - which it is generally not).
Question: how can I make sure that the Smart Folder does indeed identify and list the mail messages that I have tagged via Spotlight comment ?
    Thanks a lot !
    D.V.
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Howdy,
I cannot reproduce this problem myself...I see the same results in both the Mail spotlight and the spotlight menu bar item. I'm not sure if after installing 10.5 a new spotlight index is created, but it might be worth a shot to create a fresh index and see if that helps.
I haven't tried this, but it was the easy way I could find to reindex.
    Open Spotlight Preferences
In the privacy tab, add the volume you want to reindex
After a few moments, remove that volume from the privacy list
Allow Spotlight to reindex the volume
Please let me know if that works for reindexing.

  • E-mail messages into folders

I created two folders and now would like to move e-mail messages into them - I can't seem to accomplish this . . . is it possible?  Thanks in advance.

Ah...OK...so what you are asking to do is not possible...a folder on your homescreen is not a destination for an email that you want to file. Rather, there is the capability to file messages away within the Messages folder hierarchy. With a message list displayed, press the BBKey and select View Folders...now you will see all of the folders that presently exist. I'm not sure if you even can create any new ones, but these are there. It may be that you must create the folder elsewhere (BES if you have it, perhaps the Desktop Software can help for non-BES,  but definitely not BIS I think). When I open my mail account I keep getting the message "Checking for Mail". I deleted the yahoo account and set it up again and I am still getting the same issue plus I am not seeing any of my mail or folders. Can anyone help?

This is how I fixed it on my new iPhone 5S. Using the standard yahoo setting on my phone.
You will have to access  "managing your app passwords" on your account profile for yahoo. Generate password for your app. For example: "My iPhone 5S'
Go to your Iphone and set up your yahoo mail account on your phone the normal way and you have to use the generated password.  instead of the yahoo account password.

  • All my g-mail messages disappeared that were stored in folders.  How can I retrieve them?

I Have an i-Mac, iPhone and an IPad.  All my stored g-mail messages have disappeared.  How can I get them back.

If you had an IMAP mail account then all your emails are stored on the server, so install Thunderbird and create the IMAP mail account to see folders and emails on the server.
If you had a POP mail account then all of your emails were stored on the computer and you should have been creating regular backups of your Profile folder or at least created a backup of your Profile (and any other documents / images etc on your computer ) before wiping the computer/reformatting and reinstalling OS. So you can use the backup to reinstall the Profile. If you used MozBackup tool to create the *.psv file, then reinstall MozBacktool and use it to restore the Profile.
    * Backup: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
If you did not create a backup of the Profile, but backed up/saved emails as .eml files saved to an external device, then you could use this addon to put those .eml files back into the new Profile.

  • 8830..Moving e-mail messages from Inbox to other folder

On my 8830...When I move e-mail messages from my Inbox to a different folder (under Inbox), they disappear totally from my laptop e-mail rather than mirroring what I did on my BlackBerry.  On the flip side, if I move messages from my Inbox to another folder on my laptop, it does mirror on my BlackBerry.  My e-mail is Outlook 2003, running on my company's Microsoft Exchange Server.  Please help.

Since you have folders under your Inbox, I can only assume you're on a BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) setup receiving your Corporate email.  If that's not the case, I can't figure out how you got folders under your Inbox, and have NO IDEA how you're getting the results you're getting as BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) email accounts can't have folders!
You most likely don't have reconciliation enabled for the folders you're moving your email to.
Go into Messages, hit the [Menu] button and select Options --> Email Settings.  Hit the [Menu] button and select Folder Redirection.
You should see your Mailbox at the top with a + to the left of it.  Highlight that line, hit [Menu] --> Expand to display the main folders under your Mailbox.  Your Inbox should appear with a Box next to it either checked or filled in.
Highlight Inbox, and again hit [Menu] --> Expand to display the folders under your Inbox.  All the folders under your Inbox, and the boxes are probably unchecked or not "filled in".  Scroll to the folders you want reconciled with your BlackBerry and hit [Space] to check or fill the box next to it.  Use [Menu] --> Expand if there's a + to the left of the box to expand subfolders.
Once all the folders you want reconciled are checked or filled, hit [Esc] and save.
Now your email won't dissappear when you move it!  You should also notice in the Messages list that email in folders other than your Inbox have a folder icon rather than an Envelope icon.
And before you ask...  The BlackBerry does NOT SYNCHRONIZE, it Reconciles.  Email is pushed to the device ONCE, and only changes to the status of messages are transmitted after that.  Moves will only be reflected after you've turned Reconciliation on for a given folder.  BTW - emails you moved that disappeared should have been in your Deleted Items folder.
Reconciliation rather than Synchronization saves enormously on data transmission ($) as well as Battery life.  Believe me - we have both BlackBerries (Big Wigs only) and Windows Mobile (the rest of the 25,000 peons) devices at my company, and the most common complaint about the Windows devices is battery life, and HUGE costs when the device is overseas!

  • How to set iPhone so Mail messages in inbox disappear after being downloaded to Mail on my MacBook Pro

    Hi -
Previously, the Mail settings on my iPhone and MacBook Pro were set exactly as I wanted them to be: If I opened a Mail message on my phone, it stayed in the inbox only until I opened the Mail App on my MacBook Pro, at which time it downloaded onto the notebook and disappeared from the iPhone.  This is how I want it, as I have no need for duplicate emails in multiple locations.
I recently had to reformat the hard drive on the MascBook Pro and reinstall all the software and data.  Unfortunately, I was not able to save the Mail preferences, and now my Mail App works differently: Mail messages remain on both the iPhone and the Mac, and if I delete a message on one device it also disappears from the other.
Can anyone help me to figure out how to get the settings and preferences back to the way they were originally?  Thanks for any information anyone can provide.
    Shelly

Are you using Mac Mail - the icon that looks like a stamp?
If yes, you can create Mailboxes. (click on Mailbox in the menu bar and select New Mailbox...) These are folders and are visible in Mail.
You store the mail you wish to archive in appropriate folders.

  • How to move photos from an e-mail message into a PSE-4 catalog.

I have an Earthlink e-mail message with a large number of photographs that I want to move into my PSE4 catalog but I don't know how to do it. I'd appreciate some definative instructions on how to accomplish this.  The photos are in my windows XP computer.  P.S. I'm not very "computer-wise".

You have to use your e-mail program to save the photos to individual files on your hard disk. Then, in PSE4, File->Get Photos->From Files and Folders and point PSE to your newly saved photos.

  • When sending e-mail messages to a mail-enabled public folder that have been replicated from old Exchange Server 2000/2003/2007, Exchange Server 2010 environment mails are rejected with NDR.

Hi, I would like to share with you issue that I’ve solved regarding mail-enabled PF that migrated from Exchange 2000/2003/2007 to 2010, I’ve searched & contacted my MVP leader – there’s no official KB regarding this issue right
now, so I’m posting here in order to share this among others.
Note: There’s article(s) that talked about PF replication from Exch2000/2003/2007 to 2010 – this is the same issue as well.
    Symptoms
E-mail messages that been sent to mail-enabled public folder in Exchange Server 2010 environment rejected with the following NDR:
“#< #5.2.0 smtp;554 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:ObjectNotFoundException; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message The Active Directory user wasn’t found. ObjectNotFoundException: The Active Directory
    user wasn’t found.> #SMTP#”
Sometimes Exchange Server 2010 is documented as well Event ID 1020 on the Event Viewer with this information:
    “Log Name: Application
    Source: MSExchange Store Driver
    Event ID: 1020
    Level: Error
    Description:
The store driver couldn’t deliver the public folder replication message "Hierarchy ([email protected])" because the following error occurred: The Active Directory user wasn't found.”
    Cause
In an environment where Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 previously existed, and all those servers have been removed, there is a chance that an Administrative Group (First Administrative Group or another custom Administrative
Group) remains with a Servers container, but no servers inside it.
During replication, when the Exchange 2010 Store Driver sees the empty Servers container in Active Directory, it's expecting a System Attendant object inside the container and when it is not found the error occurs.
    Resolution
To work around the issue, delete the empty Servers container. This can't be done through Exchange System Manager. Use the ADSI Edit tool to remove it using the following steps:
Warning If you use the ADSI Edit snap-in, the LDP utility, or any other LDAP version 3 client, and you incorrectly modify the attributes of Active Directory objects, you can cause serious problems. These problems may require you to reinstall Microsoft Windows
2003 Server, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange 2010 Server or both Windows and Exchange. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems that occur if you incorrectly modify Active Directory object attributes can be solved. Modify these attributes
    at your own risk.
    1.
Start the ADSI Edit MMC Snap-in. Click Start, then
Run, and type adsiedit.msc, and then click OK.
    2.
Connect & Expand the Configuration Container [YourServer.DNSDomainName.com], and then expand
    CN=Configuration,DC=DNSDomainName,DC=com.
    3.
Expand CN=Services, and then CN=Microsoft Exchange, and then expand
    CN=YourOrganizationName.
    4.
You will see an empty Administrative Group. Expand the
    CN=YourAdministrativeGroupName.
    5.
    Expand CN=Servers.
    6.
Verify there are no server objects listed under the
    CN=Servers container.
    7.
Right click on the empty CN=Servers container and choose
    Delete.
    8.
Verify the modification, and try to send again the E-mail to the mail-enabled public folder.

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

  • Mail messages after a certain date are not syncing in IMAP

I use IMAP with Intermedia hosted Exchange (set to allow IMAP with Apple Mail). Everything has worked fine with Mail.app for years. All of a sudden, in the last week, mail in archive folders is not syncing. I receive Inbox mail and see Sent mail, but folders where I store archived messages (Friends, Travel, etc.) do not show any messages after July 10. When I go to the webmail server, I see the messages in the folders where I moved them.
I have divided large folders into smaller ones, and done a completely clean download of all mail, and the problem persists. My iPod Touch was also having trouble seeing new messages.
This is a longshot, but the one change on July 10 was that I started using Mail from a different location. Could it have something to do with the Airport base station here or even the cable Internet provider?

Update: it does not have to do with the Internet provider or local equipment. I tried downloading messages from a different network and the problem persisted.
