E mail messages will not stay in iPhone in box
e mails are received in the iphone inbox but once you access the in box they disappear. They do not go to trash or deleted.
This phone is new. What setting have I missed? I want the e mail stay in the inbox for pre determined amount of time or until I manually delete it.

If you are using the Mail.app on your Mac for accessing the account, you cannot change the account type with an existing account. To change the account type for an existing account will require deleting the account and recreating the account.
Although it is possible to access a POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a singe email client only, and trying to access the account as a POP account with one email client and as an IMAP account with another email client is a recipe for problems.
An IMAP account is specifically designed to be accessed with multiple email clients keeping all server stored mailboxes for the account synchronized with the server automatically with each email client used to access the account.

New mail messages will not show on my iPhone until I open mail...
I am on the 1st gen iPhone and no new mail will show up from the home screen (with the little red bubble) until mail is actually opened, and then it checks for mail. For some reason it will not automatically check. Very annoying.
I did a reset by holding the home and top button. No changes. I then restored it. No changes. I am at a loss. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!No, I know for fact that it should check or "fetch" every 15 minutes to see if there is any new mail on all accounts that are not pushed. If they are pushed it should be more immediate.

Safari & mail Icons will not stay in the Dock?
Two days ago I noticed that both Safari & Mail icons were not in the dock. I opened applications and returned them, they just vanish, when I open them from apps they both work OK.
I have worked round the problem by using an alias and placing that in the dock. Any way I can get back to were I was?ed-n-burra wrote:

When you launch the applications and Control-click on their icons in the Dock, do you see "Keep in Dock" or "Remove from Dock" in the contextual menu? If the menu says "Keep in Dock," click on that setting.
Forgive me if you knew this, because I can't tell from your description if this is relevant or not: Normally, application icons will appear in the Dock when the application is running and disappear from the Dock when you quit the application, unless you have set the application icon to stay in the Dock via the above method or by dragging the application file to the Dock. (Dragging the icon out of the Dock will have the reverse effect, the same as choosing "Remove from Dock," and I'm thinking that might be what happened that caused your icons to disappear from the Dock after quitting.) Creating an alias of the application and placing that in the Dock is a workaround, but shouldn't be necessary.
If the above doesn't work, something odd is going on with your Dock indeed. Post back and people will help troubleshoot further.

Mail messages will not send and remain in Outbox
I have a POP using Gmail and it has usually worked extremely well.
Recently I have had a lot of problems with messages I am sending
getting stuck even though the connection doctor indicates not problem.
Error message will sometimes say could not connect to server.
I have restarted etc. and the only way I can get my messages out of the
Outbox is to quit Mail and re-open and then they will go out without
any problem.
Any ideas how to fix this problem permanently??

ZentorGo to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there. The Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
If the problem persists and you have more than one mail account, try moving the account that has the problem to the top of the list in Preferences > Accounts. -
Mail program will not stay open. Will you help me?
I am running an iMac w/ 10.2.8 OS.
My Mail program will open for only about two seconds, and then I get an error message---"The application Mail has unexpectedly quit."
I've run my Norton Anti Virus program; I've run my Disk Utility to update premissions; I've run a speed disk through Norton. Everything is working fine.
In reviewing the discussions, in this chat room, with similar problems I came across a solution, to a simlar problem as mine, where the advice was to copy the mail folder to the desktop. Then pull "library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist" to the desktop. My folder doesn't contain this file. Could this be a solution?

What you're saying doesn't make sense. The Mail folder is a folder like any other. It doesn't make sense that it "will only open for about two seconds". And it doesn't make sense either that com.apple.mail.plist is in the Mail folder instead of in ~/Library/Preferences/.
Tell me which other files do you see in the folder where you've found com.apple.mail.plist. You don't have to type them all here, just a few to let me get an idea of what are you talking about. You can also avoid having to manually type the name of those files altogether by doing Edit > Copy (⌘C) in the Finder, and paste that in your reply to this post. -
Mail icon will not stay in the Dock
A strange thing has just started happening with the Mail icon on my Dock, ( iMac 24" Intel 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo / OS 10.6.5 ).......It keeps disappearing from the Dock. When I replace it, dragging it from Applications to the Dock as you normally add an icon, it sticks there for about ten seconds, then disappears!
All other icons on the Dock are fine, Mail operates fine too but I have to pull it from the Applications menu every time to open it.
The iMac has been dormant for the past three months while I've been in Europe. I ran Software Update soon after starting the machine up when I returned, and then noticed this odd behavior.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks!.....The easiest thing would be to create an alias of the mail.app and drag that to the dock. See if that works for you.
If you want to go further, you can drag the com.apple.dock.plist to the desk top. Found in userhomefolder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
Open terminal in your app>utilities folder
paste the following command:
*killall Dock*
and return.
exit to end the terminal session and quit as normal.
If problem is resolved you can trash the plist file on your desktop.
Repair your Permission for good measure App>Utilities>DiskUtility>repair permissions on (Macintosh HD> first aid)

After upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 iTunes will not stay open once the app launches...does anyone know how to fix this? Please Help :)

iPad 3 and iPhone 5 will not stay connected to wifi although I am close to router and have strong signal. I have to keep joining the network or restarting devices or forgetting network and rejoining it. As a side note my 1st gen iPhone which I upgraded to iPhone 5 yesterday always stayed connected!
The steps to try would be to:
1. Restore the iPhone to Factory.
2. If that does not solve the problem replace the iPhone.
If Verizon is offering to replace the iPhone for free under warranty I would go with that option. -
One contact who has an iPhone but messaging will not send as iMessage
I have one contact, who has an iPhone, but messaging will not send as iMessage, only text. All my other contacts with iPhones, the messages go as iMessages - even messages going to people who are not in my contacts. What is the fix?
But if that person did not set up an iMessage account on their iPhone, then they cannot receive any iMessages at all, only SMS text messages.
Both the sender and the recipient must have an iOS device with an active iMessage account.
There is nothing you can do about it, other than ask them to set up iMessage on their device (which if they don't want to, is their choice). -
I use MAIL exclusively. I have a number of Mailboxes set up. My messages will not load on one particular Mailbox on my MacBookair, but do load in that Mailbox on my IOS devices. Any idea why this is happening?
No idea at all, it might help if you gave more information, what type of mail, who provides it, any error messages etc.

I have an IPhone 5 and the bluetooth will not stay connected with my 2011 Chrysler 200. I was told by Chrysler service department that it is a problem with the IPhone 5. Is there an update or a fix so i can use the bluetooth in my vehicle?
Iran uses GSM, so the iPhone 5 will work. It is already unlocked. Just put local Iranian SIM in phone.

Iphone will not stay connected "invalid response received from the device."
I have an older iPhone (8gb) and for some reason whenever I plug it into the usb port on my computer it will not stay connected whatsoever. Itunes freaks out, it'll come up for a little bit and then just as soon as it appeared, 'Josh's iPhone' disappears. When I say "won't stay connected" I mean you'll hear the "new usb device" sound over and over again continuously and the iPhone goes crazy too. Like it's connected, disconnecting, connecting, disconnecting, etc.. The error I get during all this madness is "itunes could not connect iPhone because it received an invalid response from the device."
I've used this ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286 ) link to no avail (yet.) I am about to restart my computer right now. If it works after that I'll just simply delete this post. But anyway it's in a usb 2.0, it's plugged directly into the computer, etc etc
Also I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it but I put ringtones on the phone as well, I tried adding about 5 or 6 of them through itunes and it only uploaded two of them, except one of those two appears FOUR TIMES.

-I add them to the "ringtones" section under "Devices"
-ON ITUNES they show up perfectly fine. In order, and if I play them through itunes, all the ringtones are correct, just how they should be.
-I eject iPhone, go to settings > sounds > ringtone, and under custom, what I see is:
