E-mail (Repeats)
When I receive an e-mail and reply it turns up an 'extra' e-mail....in other words I receive an EM...I reply and a few seconds later a copy of the reply shows up again???? Why??

Mail Repeatedly Crashes in 10.5.1 -- One Solution
OK, there's several different threads covering Mail repeatedly crashing in Leopard, some covering 10.5 and some 10.5.1. In addition, some of the solutions have apparently worked for some users, most notably removing GrowlMail for those who had it, but my Mail kept crashing even after trying a whole slew of possible solutions. I know some users had similar problems to mine, so here's my problem and solution:
Problem:
Upon startup, Mail begins to download new messages and seems to download two or so before it freezes then crashes completely (quits).
Tried lots of things, but none worked. Ultimately tried to copy my entire ~/Library/Mail folder to a backup drive before trying to copy older backup of Tiger Mail folders to Mac running 10.5.1 in last-ditch effort. Upon starting the copy process, however, the process immediately failed, noting that my Mac could not read or write the file "LSMMap2". Why? Must be corrupt. So I Googled LSMMap2 and found that it's a file for managing your junk mail filters in Mail.
Solution:
I deleted LSMMap2 (no need to back it up since I couldn't copy it anyway) and then used some excellent instructions from another poster, David Gimeno Gost -- thanks David! -- to find and remove all my junk mail-related files, basically any junk.mbox file in any Mail folder or mailbox account folder. I trashed them all. Here's a link to David's instructions:

The result? Mail launched and downloaded 817 messages! And it hasn't crashed for 45 minutes!
Side Effects: All my junk mail filters are wiped out, but that's a small price to pay for getting Mail back. I can rebuild the filters more easily than using Webmail from multiple e-mail accounts -- or ditching Mail for something else entirely. Hmm, nothing happens here. Clicking in the dock or double click on the app itself?
Do i get feedback only when there is a problem and not it everything is okey? Is that similar to the "database rebuild" when holding down option while launching Entourage?

Mail Repeatedly Crashes after Initialize and Restore 10.6.4
After the suggestion by a Mac Specialist over the phone over a months time with issues about all of my iLife apps quitting. A initialize and restore was suggested. I did it and now I have a new a problem with MAIL.
Now MAIL repeatedly crashes and quits. Help would be GREATLY appreciated.

455 libxml2.2.dylibThanks, Kappy. I did upgrade to 10.6.5 and decided to go ahead and extract the CUPS file from the 10.6.4 updater using Pacifist. The file was indeed in the 10.6.4 combo updater, which I had no trouble downloading (with your reassurance), although it took quite a while to download. I actually used instructions given by MacFixit (which had alerted me to the printing problem in the first place) to do the extraction. All now seems to be working fine with printing in 10.6.5.

Mail repeats characters in heading lines
Hi
since I upgraded to Leopard Mail.app started with this strange behavior: I can enter only one address per line. When I try to enter a second one, it starts repeating the characters I enter in sequence. For instance, if I try to enter the word "Peter" what I get is "ppepetpetepeter" (which is, by the way ppe+pet+pepepeter). It's like if when I enter one character the system copies it and enters it again together with the next.
Besides, I cannot delete these strange characters. The only way to remove them is to select and copy them.
I've found this same behavior in other apps. For instance, in the tagging line of Leap.
In Address Book is even worse. It does the same thing but in the end doesn't let me save the changes to any address.
I have all the system upgrades, and a previous generation iMac.
Does anyone has a clue about what's causing this?

In the original User Account, try quitting Mail, and then in the Finder open Home/Library/Preferences and find the com.apple.mail.plist file and delete it. Then relaunch Mail and set your accounts up again, and decline to import anything. Mail should then rediscover your account folders.
Removing the com.apple.mail.plist file will not threaten the contents of your On My Mac mailboxes (which are in the Mailboxes folder and not any account folder). However, for complete safety make a duplicate of either the Mailboxes folder or the entire Mail folder, and temporarily keep that copy on your Desktop for backup.

When I send from my .me account I am repeatedly ask to verify the recipient, with an oval connect button.
Can I stop mail from asking me this every time?

I get three balloons to chose from, show certificate, cancel, and connect. -
Mail server stops sending and receiving mail and when I look at the settings for the domain name and the host either or both have changed to the local computer name. If I reset them the mail comes back (anything sent in the off period seems to be lost). This keeps repeating after an hour or so.
Anyone know what might be happening? I cant see any error in the logs.

Horrible Flaky Mail Repeated Crashes In MacOS Yosemite
One can expect some growing pains with an new OS or upgrade. But the sheer number of people having the multiple types of Mail crashes in Yosemite speaks volumes about the poor testing done on this critical app.
I have followed all the steps different people have tried. Deleted plists, moved v2 folder out, imported mail back in, deleted some accounts, but there are more than one specific types of actions that will cause Mail to hang and require you to do this rigmarole again and again.
This includes simply clicking on the Junk folder and saying Good Bye to productivity as you then go through the hassle of deleting more files, and trying the above combination of actions to get Mail to even boot up again. Safe Boot of the Mac, Option-Launch of Mail, etc. none of these work.
Has anyone figured out a one-good-permanent fix to Apple's screwing up Mail so badly in Yosemite?

Trying the trick of quitting mail, deleting ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index (and Envelope-Idex-journal if it's there) then restarting mail. Will report back if it solves things... -

I can't receive new emails on my imap account as I keep receiving this error message:
Some actions taken while the account "oak fine jewellery" was offline
could not be completed online.
Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the
actions while online. Mail has saved other messages in mailbox
"INBOXDrafts" in "On My Mac" so that you can complete the actions
while online.
Additional information: The IMAP command "APPEND" (to INBOXDrafts)
failed with server error: Invalid mailbox name..
Any ideas on how to stop this message from occuring without deleting the account and re-installing it.

Mail - repeatable crash on address book search
Mavericks 10.9.2 w/ Apple Mail Version 7.2 2012 iMac 3.4GHz i7 32GB
All I have to do it type the letter "c" (no quotes) in the To: field and Apple Mail crashes.
Quitting Mail, restarting the Mac doesn't resolve. Same problem reappears.
DISCLAIMER -
My Address Book (Contacts as they call it now) has never worked right since migrating.
I've migrated Macs multiple times and seem to be carrying over some issues...
I have future plans on moving all my files to a new user account as outlined here - http://pondini.org/OSX/Transfer.html
and DELETING this other/current account - but that's in the future.
Any ideas to temporarily resolve this would be great. Thanks!

Getting Mails repeatedly for Job Alert
Hi,
I have configured CCMS mail alerts for a particular job that runs once in an hour.Till yesterday i got single mail for every one hour for that failed job .But now am getting 10 to 15 mails for the single job that fails in an hour .Could someone please help me on this?
We have found one difference between alert mails for the failed jobs .. I have found only one difference in date like " 15.03.2010 " and " 03/15/2010 " ... may this be the cause due to day light timing change in USA? If so how can i resolve this .....

Mail - repeated release - never ending
Dear all,
I have a problem with the program mail under OS X 10.6.4 since 6 weeks:
Over the program mail I use several accounts, so gmx, freenet and yahoo. Until now, after a release of the unread emails no more emails were downloaded – of course. Now, without changing something, all emails were downloaded again and again, so that all emails are multiple in the in-box.
On the homepages of the providers, the emails are marked as read, however they were downloaded again from mail and marked as unread.
So far, I haven´t found a solution in the net. For any help I would be very thankful.

HaraldIf you are using SSL, are you sure that is supported? If not sure try without SSL. If that is not the case, then quit Mail, and in the Finder open Home/Library/Mail and locate the MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded3 file and remove it. Relaunch Mail and test. Any messages already downloaded will be duplicated one more time, but with that file refreshed it will hopefully be the last time for the duplication.
With the multiple accounts involved, it is likely that removing that file will be necessary.

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions..
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If it happens again I'd suspect possibly bad RAM. -

When I open Mail, it downloads new messages. But when I click ANYWHERE in the app, it crashes. I can't click to read the message, access mail boxes, delete messages...nothing. Everything causes it to crash.
