E-mail to all of our portal-users

Hello,
I'd like to send an e-mail to all of our portal-users to keep them informed
about our new products.
I currently do so by using the news-iview "send-to" feature, but every time
I try to send an email, I get the following error message: resource can't be
used.
Should I make any changes in my settings?
Are there any other possibilities to send an e-mail through the portal to
all users at once?
I'd really appreciate your help.

have you set a SMTP Server at: System Administration -> System Configuration -> UM Configuration -> Notification E-Mails ?

Details regarding Portal users vs 8i DB users

Is there a good DBA level explanation of the differences between a PORTAL/SSO user and a normal database user?
It appears we have to set up new users in Portal for all of our existing users in the database (painful). This was not required in Webdb. Is there a way to import existing database users and link them to their existing schemas painlessly?
The bits and pieces I can find indicate that if you do go ahead and set up a new Portal user manually and link them to their own existing database user schema then the normal database objects roles and rights should appear. This does not seem to be true in 3.0.8 Portal. I created a portal user, assigned them to their existing 8.1.7 schema and:
1) the normal database objects they have rights to do NOT show up in the browse database objects. In Webdb 2.2. all of these objects show up fine. The ability to browse database objects was one of the good things about Webdb that we need to preserve.
2) try to create a portal component, a form, based on a table/view. Unlike #1 above I can in fact create the form on an existing table even though it does not show up in the browse above. The user has update rights to this table, but the form will NOT compile if I leave in the UPDATE, DELETE, INSERT buttons. What is going on?
Is there a technical paper that discusses exactly how to map db users to portal users and how to transfer rights, privileges etc. so we can make portal 3.0 as functional as webdb 2.2 was?

Here are my answers:
1) the normal database objects they have rights to do NOT show up in the browse database objects. In Webdb 2.2. all of these objects show up fine. The ability to browse database objects was one of the good things about Webdb that we need to preserve.

The ability to create a component in Oracle Portal 3.0 no longer depends on whether the developer has privileges to build components in a schema, but instead on whether the developer has privileges to build a component in an application.

We want that Portal user reset password with old password

Now if our Portal users want to change the password, we need to provide User ID,Last name,
First name, and E-mail .
It is very inconvenient !

Are you talking of the login help (support -> reset password) mask? There it makes few sense to ask for the old password, as the use case for this is a user who has forgotten his password! Nevertheless, it's not much work for example to reduce the needed input to userID for example (it's a small change in the corresponding JSP and within one small Java class, which checks the input; just done some days ago for a customer).
On the other hand, if a user know his password, he can choose "Personalize" (he has to have the corresponding role (in fact means the Portal Personalization workset), and from within that one, he can create a new password - just also by providing his old one, exactly as you expect.

How to map LDAP user language to portal user language?

Hi guys,
I need to get the logon language of our portal users from LDAP. I tried to modify the xml datasourceconfiguration file adding the "language" attribute, without any result. Anyone have some ideas?
I think this is a strange behaviour because I tried to add or remove other attributes such as "mobile", "telephone", ecc... and the system works without troubles adding or removing these attributes.

IOS 8.0 our apple users and CISCO ISE customized portal [SOLVED]

Hi there guys ,
i wondering why after the update to iOS 8.0 our apple users , cannot
make it to the ISE authentication Portal , we make em connect thru a WLC wich
is redirecting to ISE ( radius server ) the web-auth process,
while if we use the internal portal (PIC2) of wlc 5508 the all process going well
after the update to 8.0 apple IOS , devices can't reach our customized portal
no more.....
anybody experienced the same?

If your issue is resolved you should mark the thread as "Answered" :)
One thing to also consider is CWA (Central Web Auth) instead of what you are doing which is LWA (Local Web Auth). It is always better to do CWA as there are many benefits to it.

Portal user issue - all users are viewing data of one particluar user...

we are implementing ess 1.0 on EP7.0 and using ecc6.0
Now, while creating Jco connection we had provided user id/pwd of a user in portal and assigned that user to an employee in backend r3 (say abc).(we followed the famous pdf available on sdn: Configuring the Business Package for Employee Self-Service (ESS) u2013 mySAP ERP 2004 by an HCL employee)
Now the Problem is:
whenever an xyz user logs in to portal with ess role, and views any data...say perosnal information, telephone no., address, etc than that xyz user sees all this data of the employee(abc) to whom we had mapped our user which was used while creating Jco connections.
infact if xyz tries to edit any data than it gets reflected to abc.
to genralise: any portal user with ess role logs in to portal is viewing/editing data of abc employee...which normally should not be the case.
plz try and help me resolve this issue...

Hi!
You have to configre your JCo Destionations to use Portal SSO.
Additionally in your HR Backend you have to maintain (I think it is) Info type 0105 (sub-type 001) and assign every personal number the appropriate UserID so that every user sees his own data.
A technical user is only needed for the JCo destinations dealing with metadata. The "real" JCo destinations performing RFC calls to the HR Backend can be configured to use Portal SSO.

How to access unread mails of all users in Exchange server without having Passwords and without giving mailbox access to other user.

I am using Exchange server 2013, my task is to create

need's to monitor continuously for new mails of all Mailboxes in
my server. if any user got new mail i need to get that Mail Subject, Mail Body, Sender Email Address [From emailId] .
Limitation
: I don't have Passwords of mailboxes , so i gave all mailbox access permission to one user , then i completed this service using below code.
But now, Client
not willing to give Mailbox Permissions to one user because of security problems.
How can i do this without passwords and without giving permissions to other user ?
i don't want all mailbox access , i just need only
access Mail Subject , Body and Sender mail address .
How can i achieve
this ?

=> I created new user in server , and then i gave full permissions of all Mailboxes to newly created user[ex: james] in database level.
i use below command for giving permissions in database level.

... and of course I have to add that this can be done with very few programming (but with that - with much more possibilities) by using a redirect "proxy iView", which is described in detail (and is taking just this scenario as one use case among others) on the slides of my TechEd presentation "Implementing Dynamic iView Properties", at least available for TechEd visitors now.
On the other hand, searching for "proxy iView" on SDN will return different results where at least I have described the basic idea.

we have always shared our music on one laptop but since I've had my iphone I've had my own user id. All of the music I downloaded was lost when I updated my iphone software and I have only been able to restore the music I have bought with my own id. However I've managed to import all of our itunes library to my new laptop but I cannot get it to synch with my iphone. How do I get it to download onto my iphone, I've gone from 865 songs to 74!

That storage moves to master account. Since there are no accounts like that in Icloud, people in your family will enjoy complimentary 5 gigs from Apple and they will let you know if they need anymore. You will not be able to manage storage from windows desktop

if you know the password of the account, i think you can also access the mail using mail client, like you use outlook to deal with your company mail daily.

Report on portal User ID and Assign Roles for all portal users

Hi!
I would like to know , is there way that we can get a report which shows all the portal user ids with there assign portal roles. If we can't get this from portal. Can we get it from Oracle database ?
What are the oracle tables and fields which store this information?
If nay one have a custom develop iview for this please let me know

Hi Ramesh,
as Pascal stated (and as I did above), if developing within the portal is not really new for you, playing around with the UME API is really more or less trivial.
Check Portal User and Role info as well as User to Role listing for similar requests and code hints / further links.

In Communigate there was a default 'all' account which could be used to send mail to all users. I know I could set up a mailing list to do this but does the Apple Mail server have a built in option for sending an email to all users?

No there is no such option.
You will either need to setup a mailing list or create an alias that forwards to all your users.
Obviously both solutions require that you add new users to the mailing list or alias.

Sending mail to all users in Messaging Server 5.2

I'm trying to send mail to all the users in my mail server, but haven't been able to do it. I'm using a command called deliver which is found in /opt/iplanet/server5/bin/msg/store/bin . I've tried sending messages to all users but have been successful in sending only to one user. Got any ideas??

If you're familir with ldapmodify, you can locate the user's pab in the directory server, and remove what you find there, but, honestly, I'd talk to the user first.. . .. .
A user can work around removal of such, very easily. Any mail client, and a copy/paste will do it.
