E-mail travelling to europe
will iphone send and receive e-mails when travelling to europe
Sure. It will receive email anywhere you are connected to the internet. If you want to avoid expensive international roaming charges, put the phone in Airplane mode, then turn wifi back on. This will restrict data to wifi only, which is free.

Travelling to Europe, want to use only the web and not the phone
I will be travelling to Europe and would like to use my iphone to check my e-mail, etc., but do not want to use the phone part and pay roaming plus $2/minute, how do i turn the phone off?
Check with AT&T and see what the rates will be. You may find it cheaper to check e-mail at an Internet Cafe or at the hotel. One of the changes with 1.1.1 is the ability to turn off data roaming when overseas. If you neither make nor receive calls, you'll not be charged for overseas roaming. But if the data function remains on and certain features like automatic e-mail checking are enabled, then you'll get the data roaming charges.
Personally, I've never taken the SIM out of the iPhone, but I would imagine that it would be necessary for data functions just like it is for phone calls. If someone knows first hand to the contrary, then I'll stand corrected. -
I am traveling in Europe and cannot purchase items with this iPad ...reset iPad that belongs to my sister for this trip. Traveling with my nano which is registered. When I try to purchase it ask me security questions, which I do no recall answereing. When I answer with correct answers it says they are wrong...hey I know my first concert and car. I am not traveling with my cell phone registered to my acct...do not have an international plan. Suggestions...
When you say the iPad is your sister's and was reset, did you remove all settings and set it up with your Apple ID? If not, and it still has your sister's Apple ID then the security questions are hers and you must use her answers.

Hello! I want to unlock your iPhone 4s cellular network for travel to Europe. How to do it?
Only the carrier to which it is locked cna unlock it. Contact that carrier and ask if they offer that service and if you qualify.

If you are traveling in Europe, do you need both an adapter AND a voltage convertoro charge the IPad2 and the iphone? Or, the reverse, will it hurt either if I use both the adapter AND the voltage convertor?
You may only need adapters for the different kind of sockets, depending of the country you want to travel. A voltage converter is not needed.
The Apple power units are multi voltage devices, supporting a range from 110 V to 240 V. as you can see on the labels. O.K. for most of the labels you need a magnifier, but its on them.
Have a pleasnt journey

I have an IPad Air with wifi only. What do I have to do when traveling in Europe to receive wifi?
You have to locate acessible WiFi networks. Most major hotels now have WiFi.

My primary reason for buying an iPad is for travel in Europe. I live in an area of the US where Verizon rules. Is Verizon's 3G model good for international travel? I'm hearing conflicting views. Any advice appreciated.
Verizon uses CDMA.
The rest of the world uses GSM.
The wifi will work, if you find a hotspot.
The 3G will not, unless south Korea moves to Europe. -
I have the iPhone 5 and iPad 3. I will travel to Europe and would like to know if I need a current covertidor 220-110 for my equipments. I have an adapter, but that did not change the flow and do not want to risk it. Thank you.
All you need is a physical plug adapter, not a voltage converter. All Apple chargers work on any voltage from 110 - 240 worldwide.

I"m traveling to Europe for several weeks. What's the best converter and how will this effect my computer over time?
Right! Our regular power bricks cover the gamut of 100-240 VAC, 50-60 Hz that will take care of everything save, say, a failing portable generator chugging in the tip of the Alps...
And you can drink the Apple koolaid and purchase the Official $40 Apple Adapter Kit ( http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB974ZM/B?fnode=MTY1NDEwMQ ) that will look chic and color matched to your brick, or do as Kappy says and get a regular equivalent from the nearest Radio Shack -
I recently traveled to Europe and subscribed to the European 3G for one month (as this was the minimum amount of time to purchase). I am back in states and it seems to be slowing my ipad down distinctly. How do I unsubscibe to the European 3G?
Hi Mike, Should not be necessary to unsubscribe to the European 3G provider - you just need to remove the micro sim card from your Ipad. If by chance you find out that your Ipad is "locked" into this European provider then you will need to contact them to unlock. You then need to sign up to a local broadband internet provider to buy another 3G micro sim card on a plan, insert this into your Ipad and set up again. NickGS

Hi
I called apple and a representitive walked me through a process to unlock my phone before traveling to Europe. Once I went through the process apple posted a note that my phone is successfully unlocked. Now that I am in Europe and trying to use the country's sim card, it is not working because it says my phone is still lockedThe only way of unlocking is for your carrier to unlock it ( they lock it only they can unlock it )
If your carrier did not arrange an unlock ..........it is still locked
This is how it works

Can I use my iPhone 5 GPS' to give me direction while traveling in Europe?
Can I use my iPhone 5's GPS ( with global plan) while traveling in Europe?
Sure. I'd suggest you install a mapping application where the data is stored locally on your phone. Much faster & less data usage.

I'm from the US, travelling in Europe, and I'm getting "no service"
I'm travelling in Europe, had my iPhone 4s enabled for international calling, landed and I can't get service for voice. Verizon told me i need a "sim" in the slot ..is this true?
Hi there vanekji!
I hope your travels in Europe are going well thus far. Now, I want to make it even better by getting your phone up and running again. The iPhone 4S does require the activation of a global SIM card for it to work abroad. Here's how you can determine if you have a SIM installed http://vz.to/15b7xNX . If so and you're looking to grab some coverage, please don't hesitate to reach out to our global support team at 908-559-4899. I do travel to Europe several day a year. It is true that I can use the Iphone 5 in other country with no trouble ??
If your phone is locked to AT&T, you can certainly travel & use your phone, but you'll have to get AT&T to provision your account for International use...select the country/countries & plan. This is very expensive, as the roaming partners set the rates & you generally pay through the nose.
And no, you can't use a local sim if your phone is locked to AT&T. -
Is there a special inverter to use with my MacBook Pro when traveling in Europe?
Is there a special inverter to use with my MacBook Pro when traveling in Europe?
No, it will handle the voltages there:
From http://www.apple.com/macbookpro/specs.html
Electrical and operating requirements:
Line voltage: 100V to 240V AC
Frequency: 50Hz to 60Hz
You might need a plug adapter to change the pin shape in some countries.
