E-mailing photos using Hotmail

I recently purchased a Macbook and am not able to e-mail my photos using Hot Mail. Every time I compose a new Hot Mail message, I click on Attach and it goes to Photos. Unfortunately, when I attempt to scroll through the pictures and make a selection, I get the dreaded "pinwheel of death" and have to force close. Is the only workaround to either e-mail directly from I-photo or save the photos to my desktop. This doesn't seem very user friendly and one of the reasons I got a Mac was to avoid a lot of the hassles I had as a pc user.

Hotmail is a Mail service. It's pretty basic and has been around for years. It's not a application You are using a Web Browser such as Safari or Firefox to access Hotmail, right?
Try download and re-install the iLife 9.0.3 update from here
http://support.apple.com/downloads/iLifeSupport_9_03
and repair permissions.

Can't e-mail photos using iPhoto. I get an error message saying...

I already receive mail via the iMail client for my iCloud (@me.com) account. When I tried to set up an e-mail account withing iPhoto, it prompted me for that same information. I used my @me.com e-mail address and password correctly (I think), but then it says, "the server didn't recognize the username/password." HELP!!

This solution is for those of you using 2-step verification for your Apple ID and are using iCloud as the mail server that you are trying to mail photos with.
I too had this issue. The problem in my case occurred because I had setup 2-step authentication for my Apple ID. If you have done this then you will get the error message "the mail server did not recognize your email/password...". To solve the problem go to:

Click "Manage Your Apple ID"
Verify your identity with the device you selected (if this step does not show up then you have not likely set up 2-step authentication and this is not your solution)
Click Password and Security in the left column
Click Generate an app-specific password
Enter iPhoto as the name of the app
Copy the password and paste this into the password box in iPhoto where you would normally enter your apple ID (in the mail account section in iPhoto preferences).
And...voila' (I hope)

Problems attaching photos using hotmail, also cannot update plug-ins

i used to be able to attach many photos to my hotmail emails.
i always reduce the size of the pics so i can attach 20 or more... now it will only attach 1, maximum 2 images.
i was told that i may need to update my plug-ins but when i go to firefox's Plug-In Check page it will not load, saying that it cannot find the server.. however my internet connection totally fine..
what do i do to fix these 2 problems??

Plugins are used from the Operating System, but Firefox often attempts to show them and to check them.
#First of all use the firefox menu to ensure your plugins are all enabled.
# then use [/plugincheck]<br/> that will sometimes show an old Java as disabled for safety reasons, but then includes an update link <br/> note the page scrolls and provides general information and further instructions
Presumably you already have a firewall and other security software, you may need to check whether they block downloads or updates.

Ever since updating to 7.0.1 I am unable to attach anything to e-mails sent using Hotmail with my firefox browser. I have no problems using IE. Any ideas?

(the attachment buttons are all visible, but the cursor does not change from an arrow to a finger to click on them)

I did all the steps suggested by you, viz. clearing the cache and removing all the cookies of all the Google products. Unfortunately, when I tried to log into my G-mail account, the original problem I had posted, '''just returned'''! ! So, I have not been able to successfully log on to G-mail from Mozilla Firefox 8, the current version I am using.
In the mean while, I found that logging in to G-mail from the Google Chrome browser works fine. But I am not happy with the Chrome, as it lacks many of the elegant features of Firefox.
Further, from the HELP forum of G-mail,
I found that they have updated G-mail to "G-Mail2" and now to "Better G-Mail2". But I was unable to get any information on how to create an account under either of those newer versions from Firefox.
So, I have to sadly report that your suggested solution did not work, nor was I able to log in to any of the newer versions.
Please HELP! Please HELP! Please HELP!

Either drag the photo from the iPhoto Browser window directly to the Mail icon in the Dock, or set the iPhoto Preferences to "General > Mail photos using: Mail". That works more reliably than using "General > Mail photos using: iPhoto".

Why can I not upload a pdf to attach to an e-mail using hotmail & Friefox?

Creat PDF, attach 2 e-mail & send via hotmail/firefox. Get message " Files with errors will not be uploaded" a view option reveald "This file couldn't be added because it appears 2B empty (0 bytes)." Same happens when I re-send previously successfully pdf e-mails. Same attachment will upload and be successfully sent and received if I use entourage or safari. My problem seems to be only using hotmail/Firefox. What has changed stopping what I have successfully done on many previous occasions?

If you are using Safari then you can't as Safari doesn't support the uploading of content, but there are a number of Facebook apps which you should be able to use to upload photos e.g. the 'official' Facebook app

Email Photos using web mail

I'd like to be able to email a batch of photos using the various web mail clients: gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. I'd like to be able to upload and resize a number of photos at one time to use in these web mail programs.

There is one for GMail, but none for Yahoo, AFAIK.
As you're using 10.5, If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.

It sounds like instead of opening your Mail App, you actually opened your Settings App, and were somehow in the 'Add Account' section of Mail, Contacts & Calendars.
Close the apps, and then reopen just the Mail App.

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu.    I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine.   The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day.   I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen.   Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal.   When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend.   I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library.   Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed.   Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto?     If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above.   Otherwise,   good luck with your investigations.   I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

I was trying to find something on it, but I cant get into the account anymore, I deleted my hotmail account after I signed up with Gmail.
~BUT, if it is the same, I would log onto Gmail, and then went to the Mail Settings, and they had a list of options of what you could push to your other email devices.
Hope its the same for hotmail!
