E-mails being deleted

Hullo, here BB users.
My son fixed up my e-mail account on my Q5 last week (bit complicated for me, owing to the ISP we use. Anyhow, it works perfectly except for one thing, it deletes my e-mails after just one day. My previous BB (a curve) used to delete them after a few weeks. That I could live with but this latest trick I can't. I have looked at all the settings but can't see anything about automatically deleting e-mails after a certain perdiod of time. Help please.

For some account types that setting is only visible during initial setup. That's the only way.

E-mail being deleted from server

Hello,
I have aol e-mail and use my iPhone and Outlook Express configured. Everything's working great except one issue. My e-mails are being deleted from the server after a month or so. I can't determine if the deletion is because of the number of messages or the time on the server. Is there any way to prevent this? I am not sure if it's a setting w/ Outlook Express, the iPhone or Outlook Express.

Well, I use the full blown version of Outlook, and right now I'm on my work computer and it is a laptop using Vista so I don't have Outlook Express on here. However, I would imagine that it is in the Accounts section. This is where you set the parameters for the mail account. You can look there, or I can check later on after I get home. Maybe someone else that uses OE can chime in here and get you the location.

Mail being deleted when preferences are set otherwise

Hi, I run a late-2013 27-inch iMac with with OSX10.9.3. Although all my Mail preferences are set to 'never delete', periodically my entire Inbox and Sent folders get completely emptied out, every email deleted. The many emails I have in folders are untouched. I need to refer often to my sent mail and this is causing large problems as you'd imagine - as is losing my Inbox contents before I've dealt with them all. Anyone else experiencing this? Know how to avoid it? Thanks!

Yes, good question. I have several gmail accounts for my business (accounts, enquiries, mine etc). I'm not at all technically-minded when it comes to Mail accounts, if it helps with the diagnosis my incoming mail server is imap.gmail.com

Mail being deleted from server without permission

For about a week now my iphone has been downloading email from my email account which is a live.co.uk. When i log on to my email on a computer on the server all my message that have been download have been deleted without my permission. I check the setting and i have not select them to be deleted from the server it say never delete. I have restarted my iphone but yet it has helped.
Can anyone help as this an issue as some email need to be keeped on the server and not delete to the trash can.

Mail being deleted from my btinternet account

I was using a mail sever 4ukmail which i paid for but since changing over to BT i am now using their own free email client,
When i have a new email it appears on my BTinternet inbox on my Macbook (2007) and iPhone 5s but if i delete from my iPhone it deletes the message from my Macbook and from my BTinternet.com sever so i lose all the Inbox and Sent emails.

I like using the built in mail service and it never had a problem with 4ukmail emails i have look in all the settings and cannot find any options to 'leave on server' or do not delete Macbook when i delete from my phone.

Tried another email program and it still reacts the same way when i delete it deletes from the server making use of email almost useless i never keep emails on my iphone but they were always left on the mail app now they get deleted from the phone, macbook and the server......
Does anyone know if apple are trying to sort this out i am sure there used to be an option to leave messages on the server now i can find no such option and a couple of times i had a problem connecting to BTinternet then after a couple of goes it connected..

Mail Problem - accounts still being deleted

Since "upgrading" to OSX Snow Leopard, my mail and iTunes applications are wiped clean! It has happened countless times now and it's becoming a big big problem. My iTunes seems to be working normally, however, my mail accounts are still being deleted and results in having to recover the MobileMe account. My third-party IMAPP account has to be set-up manually.
Whenever I boot up my mac book and start-up mail, I am greeted with a message telling me that sent items is being renamed (I think) and all of my email accounts are wiped clean. I have lost so many important emails from my POP3 account. There is nothing from a user perspective that is causing this issue.
PLEASE HELP! What is causing mail to act so stupidly and wipe my email accounts? How can I fix this once and for all. I have already ran the repair utility and also reinstalled OSX SL again. The latest update 10.6.1 has not resolved the problem.

Do this for BOTH devices:
Go to settings, internet accounts, and then log out of mail. Then log back in.
Maybe your email will sync with your devices.

Issue with emails being deleted from my Yahoo mail folders

Hi, I am experiencing an issue where emails are being deleted from my Yahoo mail folders when the weekly Sunday night purge of the Yahoo Trash folder is carried out by Yahoo. These are mails that have been moved from my inbox via the iphone mail app.
I have a similar problem with Outlook 2010 on my laptop but not with Outlook 2003 on my desktop.
When I move the emails from my inbox I have noticed that using Outlook 2003, the moved email is left in my inbox in "strikethrough" mode whereas on Outlook 2010 it is deleted from my inbox. I subsequently purge the marked email from my inbox in 2003.
I am able to see and access the emails in the folder I have moved them to until after midnight on Sunday when they dissappear. The emails moved via 2003 are ok and not lost.
Funnily enough when using an earlier version of the iphone mail app I remember that I could see emails in "strikethrough" mode in Outlook 2003 when they had been moved via the iPhone mail app but you don't see that now.
It feels like some sort of pointer issue to me ...... any ideas on how to stop this happening?.

I reported the problem to Yahoo and in the process of them investigating the issue my sub-folders suddenly became invisible via my IMAP connection and then also were invisible on-line following a log out and a log in. After my initial panic, I contacted Yahoo who were able to restore my complete account. Since then, the problem has gone away.
I have been testing this for two weeks and all is working perfectly from whatever device I use to connect to my mail (IMAP or via my browser).

Think mail is being deleted from inbox automatically?

I have my aol account routed thru mail. I leave mail in my inbox that I need to deal with later, but I have had these disappear after several days. Like it never existed. Spotlight search doesn't find it either. This has been going on since I started using the mail program in January. It only happens on the inbox; mail I've sent is not affected.
I called apple support about this in February, and was told it reflected a change in the mail of my aol box; that the mail program only reflects what is in my aol box. So I have made sure that I never use aol directly; only go thru Mail to access it. And it is still happening. What do I need to do to keep mail from being deleted? I have had one disappear that I had even flagged.
I checked Mail preferences and the "Keep copies of messages for offline viewing" option is "all messages and their attachments"
What am I doing wrong?

I checked via aol webmail. It is not there, either. I suspect it would have been in recently deleted mail if I would have checked within a day of it disappearing, but there were several days where I didn't check my mail, so I missed that window.
I couldn't see where to access mailbox settings via webmail, so I signed on to AOL directly. I checked my preferences for the filing cabinet, and the "automatically delete items in my filing cabinet was not checked, therefore none of the options below that were active. Under mail, save the mail I read, and save the mail I send are checked.
Since I've been using Mac Mail, my filing cabinet on AOL is squirrely. The first thing that happened was all of my saved/incoming mail for over 6 months completely deleted. Since then, it only works "sometimes." It worked most of February, didn't work for several weeks in March (like nothing saved), and worked 3 days in April (4/3-4/6). And I've not changed any settings thru this. This unreliablility is bothersome because I heavily use the saved mail for tracking different items. Any suggestions?

Emails are not being deleted form iCloud when I delete them from Mail

I am having trouble with not being deleted on the iCloud server when I delete them on my Mac. If I delete them from iCloud they disappear from my Mac but if I delete from my Mac they stay on iCoud and then reappear on Mac.
On both iCloud and Mac I have preferances set to move deleted messages to the trash.

You don't need to delete photos from your camera roll to save on backup sizes, you can turn individual items on and off for back up in your iCloud back up settings.
Apple States that the last 3 back ups are accessible, which means the photos from your back up may not be removed immediately.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples). FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

Messages are being deleted automatically

We have been using TB successfully on Windows 7 for a couple of years having previously used Outlook.
My wife's incoming e-mail messages are being deleted after one month. They are also deleted from Webmail. The ISP says that they have not been deleted by the ISP but by a 3rd party program. We noticed the problem when searching for an old message. (I just checked using an old XP-enabled computer and all the old messages are there except nothing since June 25 2014.)
I noted this morning that all of my sent messages have disappeared. For the moment at least they are still on the ISP's webmail.
I checked our TB settings regarding retention and deletion, including those of 3 addresses that don't have the problem. They all look OK.
Can somebody please advise on what our next steps should be? Many thanks.

TS3899 When I delete email the next time I open mail the deleted emails are back so I delete again. They come back sometimes at least 5-6 times. I have deleted the account and added it back and changed settings several times. What is wrong??

Log into your webmail on a browser and delete them from there.

Appointments being deleted on ipad

My appointments seem to be being deleted on a rolling month basis on ical on my ipad. I have appointments in January that are no longer there and it seems to be happening each time there is a new week, an old week gets deleted. Can you help pease?

Check Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Calendars>Sync>Make your choice greater than 1 Month Back.

Mails not deleted automatically

Hi Guys,
I wonder if any1 of you have any idea why my mails are nt being deleted even i have deleted them from my inbox while i log on to my computer but they stay there on the apple mail account until and unless i delete them from iphone account.
And if u want to move them into other folders you cant ? as other folders are not displayed.
I am using hotmail.

IMAP or POP mail accounts? Check in Help menu (alt+H) > troubleshooting. Do not guess.
Copy to clipboard and paste (ctrl +V) into a message here if you are in doubt.
