E-mails from iMac to iPad

The e-mails on my iMac do not show up automatically on my iPad.  Also, my iPad doesn't get e-mails that are sent from PCs, and the PCs don't get the e-mails I sent from the iPad, either.  I'm new to the iPad.  I have an iCloud account; my iMac is a POP3 account.  Any suggestions as to what I have set incorrectly?

Remove your work email from the Mac email app.
If you are referring to iMessages, you would need to remove that account from iMessages.

You can transfer photos outside of iTunes. I do it all the time. THat said, i have a 50/50 success rate with them. I'd avoid sandisk and kingston, their bundled software triggers the 'too much power' warning.
I've had mixed luck with lexar, some work, some don't.
I did have good luck with an older 4 gig geek squad one.
Look for drives without software on them, without bright LED lights and I haven't gotten any larger than 4 gig to work, but that may just be me.
For a less troublesome way? h onestly, I use a SD card that I've formatted with the DCIM folder. I've never had one of them trigger the 'too much power' warning. Just make sure they're not SDXC. those don't work.

Tried how? Using what? Step-by-step details and the results you get along way should elicit a cogent response.

  • Transfer photos from iMac to iPad

Hi Guys - can someone tell me an easier way to transfer photos from iMac to iPad.
Perhaps I've misunderstood, but this is the process I currently go through
create folder called "iPad photos" on desktop
create event called "iPad transfer" on iphoto
copy and paste items from iPhoto to desktop folder
when complete, drag photos from desktop to iphoto
then move the resultant "untitled event" to merge with "iPad transfer"
sync iPad with ONLY "iPad transfer"
This works. However, I've then got exactly TWICE the number of digital photos in iPhoto !
I have the originals, and then the duplicates imported BACK into the iPad transfer folder - so obviously I'm using up valuable memory.
Can someone suggest a simpler more efficient way ?
    Many thanks.

I'm guessing that you are going through all of those steps because you have photos in a number of different events that you want to copy to the iPad and that those events also include photos that you don't want to go to the iPad?
    Two options to consider:
    1) Create an Event for photos that you want to move to the iPad and move all of the photos from where they currently are into that Event. This has the advantage of grouping all of the photos into one Event but the disadvantage that they are no longer in the Event where you may have wanted them for other reasons.
    2) What I do. Use the iPhoto "Album" feature. A photo inside iPhoto can be in one Event and in one or more Albums without occupying any more space. Create an Album (iPhoto File menu New Album) and name it something like "iPad Photos". If you desire you can create additional Albums and drag them onto the main Album to create sub-albums one level deep for better organization. Then simply drag photos from Events to the desired Album and they will be in both places. Then when you sync, select the Album (e.g. "iPad Photos") to sync.

  • How to put movies from iMac to iPad and use iMovie

I have enjoyed using iMovie on the Mac to create "Trailers" of my family movies. I purchased iMovie for iPad and there are some new interesting "Trailers", different from the ones on the Mac. So I'd like to try them out.
But I cannot figure out how to move .MOV files onto an iPad. (Ironic, I know). Here are the things I've tried.
    1. I tried a straight drag and drop when the iPad was connected, from Finder window to iPad on the Device. No go.
    2. I tried to create an iTunes playlist of the movie, which works fine on iTunes on the Mac. but
          a. It won't show up on iTunes on the iPad, even after making sure it was supposed to be synced and checked
          b. It won't show up in iMovie on the iPad
    3. I tried to put it into iPhoto on the Mac, and made an 'album' with it. It won't show up on the iPad even after careful syncing.
As a test, i recorded a few seconds of video on the iPad, and of course it works fine. But the videos I am interested in turning into Trailers are movies I have already recorded of my family. "Gee, Wally, isn't there a way to do this?"
Is there any way to put a video from iMac to iPad?

additional info: I found some hint that the iPad can't take just any old movie format, so I used "Convert to format for iPad", an option i had never seen on iTunes on my imac before. But sadly, even the .m4v format of the movie will not show up on the iPad under iTunes nor under iMovie.
I can certainly take an iPad iMovie trailer to the iMac if I 'finish' it, but it is a final a product, so i would have to break it up into all the little sections again.
So I still cannot seem to move a movie file to the iPad iMovie edit window. All my 'finished' iMovies show up under "movies" on the iPad, but never under the iMovie edit window. Hope that's clear.
I want to use those new trailers with my home video.
    NEWEST Update, still no joy
I found this tech article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4792 that says i can move an iMovie from iOS to iMovie on my Mac. I followed the steps exactly, but iMovie on teh Mac does not recognize the iMovie Trailer, so the Import button stays grayed out.
    so close.

  • How to transfer files from iMac to iPad 2

What's the best way to transfer files from iMac to iPad, like a Keynote presentation?

It's probably not as "simple" as using DropBox, but it's there. When in the Apps section of iTunes, just scroll down to the bottom where there is a listing of installed apps that can use the iTunes data exchange. Documents available on the computer can be synced TO the device while those available on the device can be syned TO the computer.

  • Moving files from iMac to iPad

I had a problem with my iMac this morning. I couldn't send an E-mail message, so I thought I'd try to use my iPad for the first time. I wanted to move the message I had typed in my iMac's E-mail program to my iPad's E-mail program. I called Apple Care Protection, or whatever it's called. Anyway, I was told that there was no way to do what I had wanted. I would simply have to retype the message in my iPad E-mail program.
The technicians/advisors at Apple Care Protection are about as good as you can find, and the one I talked to was probably right. However, I just have to check on his advice one more time. Is it correct? Is it true that there is no way to transfer files from my iMac to my iPad? I find that amazing.
I have the latest operating systems for both my iMac and my iPad installed; however, I am using a late 2009 model iMac. Could that be the problem?

Thanks for your very informative response. It's  a model for the way questions should be answered. It was especially interesting to see your comment about my 2009 model and Handoff.  The screen had said that, and the technician I talked to said that the screen was right--OF COURSE--but I still was gob-smacked, as the Brits say. I had thought that the operating system was the only important thing, and that since I had the latest operating systems for both my Mac and my iPad, that I could do anything that Macs and iPads can do. Well, live and learn, and one more thing to learn will be to use the cloud apps that you mention. Finally, it's interesting that you mention Evernote. I know that everyone says that it's the greatest, but I couldn't do anything with it and finally uninstalled it from my computer. I found that Apple's Notes did everything I wanted in fine style. No complaint there.
Oh, I finally understand why you mentioned Dropbox. Sure--I think.  I have DropBox. I guess you are saying that I can export a file to DropBox from my iMac and then send it from DropBox to my iPad. Well, maybe, but right now I'm having trouble sending files from DropBox to anywhere, and I have given up on trying to get help from DropBox. Thanks again.

  • How to transfer old photos from iMac to iPad using iCloud Photo Library

iMac with Yosemite, iPad with iOS 8.1.  New photos taken on any device are shared automatically with all other devices.  But, older photos on iMac are not being shared with iPad or iPhone.  The options to synch selected photos on iMac with iPad don't seem to be there any more now that iCloud Photo Library is enabled on iPad.
I imagine that iCloud Photo Library's capabilities only apply to new photos.  Is there a way to move old photos over for viewing on other devices?

    John,
You can share selected photos to your Photo Stream, if you enable the iCloud features, or create an album of the selected photos and transfer them using iTunes Photo sync.
For iCloud see: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ, iCloud: Using and troubleshooting Shared Photo Streams
For iTunes see: iTunes: Syncing photos
Or, simply mail them in high quality and save them from your Mail to your camera roll, if it are only a few photos.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • How do i sync pages from iMac to iPad. I am new to mac and this is confusing

how do I sync between IMAC and IPAD. I just downloaded pages into my IMAC and I can not figure out how to download it onto my ipad2. I do not want to download the product again for $10. i was told that this is handled in itunes but i can not figure it out

You got some bad information if you think that you do not have to buy Pages for the iPad and you think that it will work without it.
You have to purchase Pages for the iPad as well as for the Mac. You cannot install any computer program on an iPad - Mac or Windows applications will not work on the iPad. You will have to download and install the iPad Pages app or you cant sync files from the Mac to the iPad and the other way around.

  • Delete mail from server using ipad not computer

How do I delete mail from the server using my Ipad

That completely depends on your email service provider.
For gmail, for example, you would do this as follows:
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > [your gmail account] > Advanced > [Move Discarded Messages Into] Deleted Mailbox

  • How to export photos from iMac to iPad.

I have a 3 year old iMac & iPad 4. I have read the discussions and the very limited iPad manual. These pictures are in my iMac not on an SD card or in my camera. They were imported to my iMac from a CD. I read about syncing and starting iTunes etc. I need STEPS & what device you start iTunes on etc. None of the discussions state this. So getting my pics from my iMac to iPad I need to do .........? Thanks

Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading
Click on the Photos Tab on the right.
Click on "Sync Photos from" and then select the folder where your pictures are located - usually on the Mac in iPhoto. However, you can choose any folder from the drop down menu in the Sync Photos From heading that you want to use.
Click on any albums within that main photos folder that you want to sync.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes
If all of your photos are in one folder on the Mac, you will not have any sub folders to sync.
