E-mails I received after I delete appear again

After I receive an e-mail, I delete the incoming e-mail and it appears again. This started after I bought the latest IPad and I have the latest Iphone. I use Verizon for my e-mails.

Is your email a POP account?  If so, have you set your incoming mail settings on your device(s) for Delete from Server to Never?  If yes to both, then when you delete the email from your device it will be re-fetched from the server since it hasn't been deleted from the server.  (POP accounts don't sync changes from your device, such as deleting a message, to the server.)

  • Delete mail from server after receiving

    Hello,
after I've received a message from the mail server I want to delete this message on the server. How can I realise this?
    Thanks JSCH

    Hi,
    This is from Sun tutorial.
    Go through this. :)
    Cheers.
Deleting messages involves working with the Flags associated with the messages. There are different flags for different states, some system-defined and some user-defined. The predefined flags are defined in the inner class Flags.Flag and are listed below:
    Flags.Flag.ANSWERED
    Flags.Flag.DELETED
    Flags.Flag.DRAFT
    Flags.Flag.FLAGGED
    Flags.Flag.RECENT
    Flags.Flag.SEEN
    Flags.Flag.USER
Just because a flag exists doesn't mean the flag is supported by all mail servers/providers. For instance, besides deleting messages, the POP protocol supports none of them. Checking for new mail is not a POP task but one built into mail clients. To find out what flags are supported, ask the folder with getPermanentFlags().
To delete messages, you set the message's DELETED flag:
    message.setFlag(Flags.Flag.DELETED, true);
Open up the folder in READ_WRITE mode first though:
    folder.open(Folder.READ_WRITE);
Then, when you are done processing all messages, close the folder, passing in a true value to expunge the deleted messages.
    folder.close(true);
There is an expunge() method of Folder that can be used to delete the messages. However, it doesn't work for Sun's POP3 provider. Other providers may or may not implement the capabilities. It will more than likely be implemented for IMAP providers. Because POP only supports single access to the mailbox, you have to close the folder to delete the messages with Sun's provider.
To unset a flag, just pass false to the setFlag() method. To see if a flag is set, check with isSet().

Downloading (using iOS or computer) past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519 - enabled with iTunes 10.3 and newer; not all media formats are available in all countries (see: iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085); apps, books (not audiobooks), music, t.v. shows, and movies (some - not all studios have permitted this).  Downloading previously purchased movies and TV shows requires iTunes 10.6 or later.  Discontinued items not available. For items not included in the iCloud list (e.g., ringtones, audiobooks), or locations or computer systems where iCloud is not (yet?) available, you only get one download per fee paid.  Apple notes it is your responsibility to back up your purchases.
Select the iTunes Store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.
Reading the limitations mentioned in the first paragraph I would never trust Apple to permanently keep a copy of your purchases.  Once you get them on your iPad immediately download them to your computer and then also to your backup drive.

If you are using Apple's Mail app 6.5 is the latest version irrespective of what a previous poster says. It does sound though that you are using a gmail account online via a web browser. Please confirm and fill in missing information.

Email not opening on my iPad2 This is a sudden thing, email had been working fine since purchasing the device then today would not stay open,  now it will not open at all. After trying to open mail I receive a white screen for a nano second and the app closes.

Have you tried closing the Mail app completely ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Mail 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • After 10.9.4 Update: Mail Messages Grey Out Upon Deleting-Don't Move to Trash?

    Hello,
After 10.9.4 Update/MacBook Pro with Retina display: Mail Messages Grey Out Upon Deleting-Don't Move to Trash? I believe I must join those who are having trouble with mail after this latest update. Deleted messages just turn a light grey in the message panel and don't move to trash until after I quit and restart mail. I have also experienced the screen "Freezing" ... no spinning beach ball, just the pointer frozen. This has happened only when I use mail and requires a "hard" re-start to correct.  Is this a "feature" of the update, or is it a problem? Thanks!

Some of your user files (not system files) have incorrect permissions or are locked. This procedure will unlock those files and reset their ownership, permissions, and access controls to the default. If you've intentionally set special values for those attributes, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it, but you do need to follow the instructions below.
    Back up all data.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Enter the following command in the Terminal window in the same way as before (triple-click, copy, and paste):
    sudo find ~ $TMPDIR.. -exec chflags nouchg,nouappnd,noschg,nosappnd {} + -exec chown $UID {} + -exec chmod +rw {} + -exec chmod -N {} + -type d -exec chmod +x {} + 2>&-
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take several minutes to run, depending on how many files you have. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
              Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open. In that window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button
    Select
               ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
Quit Mail and empty the Trash. If you still can't, log out or restart the computer.

  • IPad 2, mail app frozen after g3 cellular connected. Receiving mail, but all screen function frozen. ???

Ipad 2, mail app frozen after connecting via g3 cellular. Incoming messages are received, but all app functions are frozen. Any ideas anyone?
rural location, have only Internet connection for answers, since email frozen. Thanks any help.

Thanks Diavonex, but that's what I tried to discribe that I'd already done. I didn't realise it was called the "task bar".
I've done both the things you suggested again, but Mail is still locked into this "white" screen when it is relaunched, and after 10 seconds it crashes back to the app menu page. I seems to be running in the background as it knows new emails are waiting to be read, but you can't get into Mail any more to view anything.
Not sure whether to delete all Mail accounts in Settings and start again, but that seems extreme.
    Any other suggestions ?

I have an iPhone 4s running iOS 5.0.1 and my received mail dissapears shortly after receiving.

It is a POP account which is also on my iPad and my iMAC.  All my accounts are set to me manually deleting email.  The iMAC deletes off server while the others do not.  This did not happen on my 3gs phone running iOS 5.0.1.  It was set to SMTP and MAIL.  When I set up the accounts on my 4s it automatically set the to mobile.
    example
    old system (3gs)
    mail.example.net
    smtp.example.net
    new system (4s)
    Both mobile.example.net
Thats the only visual difference I see.

the problem I have since I upgraded to Mavericks version 10.9.1
The problem appears only with Mail not with other programs, not even with my browser.
When I try to zoom the text of an e-mail I received or sent , I can no longer use the keys Command + to enlarge the text, although I can reduce it with Command -.
As I have a problem with my eyes, This is a serious matter for me.
When I write an e-mail, if I select text and press Command +, it just displaces the text to the right.
Now, my husband has a USB keyboard. If he connects it to my computer, his regular Command + does not work either, but  he uses the extended keyboard, then it works. Unfortunately, he needs it for a musical application which does not work with a wireless keyboard.

Firefox 3.6.4 and 3.6.6 use a process called, "plugin-container.exe" which was using up most of my CPU when I opened up multiple tabs that contained Adobe Flash files, and caused Firefox to lock up.
My solution was to use Firefox 3.5.10 which you can get from the Mozilla website at [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html]
I am using Adobe Flash 10.1.53.64 without any problem in this version of Firefox. Check the release notes, I believe it contains all the latest security fixes in "Firefox 3.6.4".
Hopefully, they will fix Firefox 3.6 in the next version (e.g. Firefox 3.6.7), until then you should probably use "Firefox 3.5.10".

  • Uploaded Files in "Select Document to Share" still appears (w/different filename) after content deleted.

Does anyone know how I can remove these as well?  It would appear a copy of uploaded content gets saved somewhere and is referenced (i.e. available) even after I delete the content from my profile administration.
    Nothing in Uploaded Content.
Files still appearing although as we see below I have purged the uploaded content.

What you are seeing are the pod instances. If you go to Pods > Manage Pods you can select those instances of the share pod and remove them from the room.

If they are both using the same iCloud ID (assuming you are running your mail from iCloud), then yes, the email will disappear from your Mac after you delete it from your phone and after your phone sycs with iCloud and your Mac syncs with iCloud.
I use a windows phone, but it works the same.

    Hi,
I tried to log in to iCloud but a message appears telling me I "can't sign in because my account was disabled for security reasons....reset password at iforgot.apple.com". I don't know why this happened.
I reset both my Apple ID and password.
When I tap Settings iCloud is listed on the left side between General and Mail, Contacts etc.
Tapping iCloud brings up a log in screen for iCloud which shows my old Apple ID and requests the password. If I put the password in I get the message as above.
If I use the new Apple ID/Password I get the message "the maximum number of free accounts have been activated....
In settings there is no option to "Delete Account"
    Any suggestions??
