E-mails on iPhone 5 Won't Delete

So when I open my mail and I read it over and everything, I delete them. Then when I come back later to check my mail the same e-mails are there and I keep trying to delete them but fo some reason they won't disappear. Now my inbox is piling up with old messages and it's kinda annoying.

Hey there Rionic,
I would suggest that you troubleshoot this issue by applying the steps in the following article:

  • IPhone sometimes won't delete all the photos after I import into iPhoto

Every so often, my iPhone 3GS won't delete some photos after importing into iPhoto and choosing "delete originals." It deletes most of the originals but strangely keeps a certain number around. My basic routine is to "Import All" and then "Delete Originals." This works 98% of the time, but sometimes the iPhone just gets hung up and won't delete the originals until I manually do it from the iPhone itself.

I was looking further into this and I found out that on my Macbook Pro's System Preferences. In the iCloud settings, the "Photos" setting was checked and in the Options next to that, the "My Photo Stream" and "Photo Sharing" was also checked.
I think this was the main problem. After I used iTunes to sync with the photos maybe there was some cache settings or something residual left on the iPhone which let to it being continuously restoring.
This is the fix which I used. It is fine now.
Check in System Preferences for - iCloud >> Photos is unchecked.
Check in System Preferences for - iCloud >> Photos >> Options >> "My Photo Stream" and "Photo Sharing" is unchecked.
Temporarily delete account for iCloud settings on iOS device - Settings >> iCloud (This didn't affect my main iCloud account only deleted my information on the device)
    Re-sync iOS device with iTunes.
Set up your iCloud account on iOS device again.
Hope this helps for anyone having this problem.

  • IPhone messages won't delete, can't free enough space?

    Hello,
I'm on an iPhone 4S with iOS 7.1.1. I'm almost out of storage... I have 8.96 GB of "Documents & Data" and 8.51 GB of "Other."
Usage in settings indicates that I have 8.8 GB of messages saved. So I have to delete my messages. However, even after I restart, all my messages reappear and I have not freed any space. How come the messages keep reappearing when I try to delete them? Is there a way for me to delete them permanently?
And, what is this "other" category that is taking up so much space? I know that other used to be app data, but now with iOS 7 that has been split up into "Documents & Data."
So, how come my messages won't delete? Is there a way for me to permanently delete them to free space?
And how can I clear up space from my "Other" category?
Thanks so much for the help!

There is corrupted data on the phone.  You need to restore the phone using iTunes, without restoring a backup.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

  • IPhone Photos Won't Delete

There are some photos in my iPhone that will not delete off the camera roll after importing into iPhoto 09. It's a bug, and they have been stuck there for months now. The only method I believe to get rid of them is to manually delete each and every photo in there. Anyone encounter this bug and have any solutions?
    Thanks.

  • IPhone 6 won't delete mail

I bought a new iP6 two weeks ago.  First smartphone I have owned.  When I try to delete spam from my email, it gives a message something like "can't delete message".  What is going on?

After the 4th attempt at setting up my email account, I am able to receive email -- yea!  However, despite my SMPT server setting being exactly the same as my other devices, I can't send email.

  • How do i unsynch my emails from hotmail on iphone 4 so that if i delete from my iphone, it won't delete from the desktop email?

I can't "unsynch" my hotmail emails from my iPhone 4.
I had this previously set up on my phone so that I only had my main inbox (no subfolders) and if I deleted an email then it only deleted it from my phone, not from the desktop email.
However, due to having to reset my whole hotmail account today, I had to delete my account from my Iphone and reactivate it, but when I did so it synched everything and now I have all my subfolders etc... and when I delete an email from my phone, it deletes the message from my whole account.
Does anyone know how to re-set this?

The only way to do that is to use a mail server with IMAP access, such as iCloud or Gmail. What you have is a POP account, which is the type provided by most ISP's.

  • Duplicates in iphone contacts won't delete

I have duplicates and triplicates of contacts in my iPhone. My iMac only shows one of each. I tried to delete them in the iPhone, but they don't go away

If you phone is syncing contacts with iCloud, Contacts would be set to On in Settings>iCloud on your phone.  If you are syncing contacts with an exchange account, you would have Contacts set to On in you exchange email account in Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars.  Also, when you open Contacts and tap Groups at the top, you would see groups other than iCloud listed.

  • Mail delivery system error - won't delete, replicates

I have a problem with a 'mail delivery system' email, following an email that I sent out to an incorrect address. I deleted the email, and it promptly reappeared - with exactly the same time as the original, but no content. When I checked in trash, it was there too, but the more I try to empty trash, the more it appears again in the inbox again. A couple of days later, I had two more 'mail delivery system' emails, this time unprovoked, and these have replicated, ie each time I delete them, TWO emails appear in the inbox. I have carried out a disk repair, but the problem still exists. It isn't a huge problem; I continue to receive other mail, but it is a bit irritating - my trash box is huge, and won't empty.
    Any advice gratefully received, thanks!

Okay, so here is what appears to be going on.
You sent an email to a group of people and at least one of the addresses was incorrect, so you deleted it, perhaps thinking that would stop the mail from being sent, but I'm just speculating on that. So it goes to your Trash in Mail, but also reappears in the Sent mailbox.
Later you get an email telling you that your message wasn't delivered, and possibly that it would keep trying for a few days. After that time, you seem to have received a message telling you that delivery of your message failed for a different reason, in that the email address didn't exist in the directory of the mail domain you sent the message to. But it also says that it wasn't delivered because it or another message was too old, and even more strange, that the mail server doesn't accept messages from users on it's own system, which makes no sense whatsoever. Adding more intrigue is the fact that it seems to have had a problem identifying you on it's own mail system for a bit, since it claimed you had no email address there.
As for the emails replicating when you delete them from the Sent mailbox, I'm guessing (because I've never had this problem myself or heard of anyone else having it) that because the message was CCed to multiple recipients, each time you delete the Sent message, you're only deleting a reference to the message for one of the recipients. So, again I'm guessing, if you were to keep deleting that original Sent message enough times, it would eventually reach the end of the actual recipient list and then disappear. Only a guess.
If you're using a POP account, there's no reason why you can't empty the Trash in Mail, as well as set the account preferences to delete files from the server when you retrieve them. Have you tried that, or do you not know how to do it?

  • I have a backup from an old iPhone that won't delete it says it's in use?

I Bought an iPhone 6 + set it all up and restored it from icloud but it just kept on running restore after it was finished so I backed it up to itunes on my Mac then did a local restore so I have everything, then I backed up the 6 to icloud but now I can't delte the backup from the old iPhone because it says it's in use and I wou like to recover this available space.

An interrupted iCloud restore will wait for approximately three days for the restore to resume, then it will time out.  If you wait 3-4 days you should be able to delete the backup.

  • TS2755 iPhone 4s won't delete messages!

I have an iPhone 4s, I noticed that I have 5GB worth of messages, I tried to delete them but my phone went all glitchy and in the end I had to turn my phone off and all the messages were still there once back on! Also I don't want to restore my phone I I for have too!

I recently spoke to someone from Apple support, and here's what I gathered:
"Older" phones (read: anything iPhone 4s or older?) sometimes have trouble keeping up with the processing demands of the newest software. When deleting threads with a lot of media (photos, videos, etc), it can take a lot of processing to successfully delete. What this support tech suggested was picking some of the bigger threads at night before you go to bed, deleting them, and then leaving the phone alone-- and plugged in-- overnight to give it enough time to delete everything. He suggested not even pressing the lock button; just leave it to process (though I imagine the screen will lock on its own anyway).
Not sure if it works yet since I just spoke to him, but it's the closest thing I've got to a solution!
