E-MU 0404 USB Win 7 64bit crashes

I've got a huge issue with the soundcard in conjunction with Win 7. In 6 out of 10 times when I try to initialize the hardware (doing so by starting Ableton Live, or even simply play music with any program via this card), the pc will crash completely, forcing the OS to restart. I hear not a single sound, I just see a few stripes on my screen and then the BIOS.
I even tried reinstalling the OS, no success. The first times this happened, I got a BSOD, which told me about a problem with usbfilter.sys, so I posted my problem on Windows 7 Forums, with all the minidumps etc.
I've been told to update some of my drivers (including the one for the soundcard), and so I did - no success.
Once again - I even tried to reinstall my complete system, and with only Live, the newest drivers and updates installed - no success.
You may be able to imagine how fun it is trying to record an idea and to see your former rock-solid system go nuts.

Asus M4A8TD EVO Mainboard
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T CPU
Kingston DDR3-1333 2x2GB RAM
XFX HD5750 XXX video card
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ 1TB HDD
be quiet! Pure Power 530W power supply
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
USB-devices connected:
keyboard, mouse, Novation Launchpad, Behringer BCF2000, M-Audio Keystation 61es, 2 ext. HDDs, WLAN-Stick, USB-Hub
The soundcard is connected directly to a USB-port, not via the hub.
My system is not overclocked and has never been.

I have the same issue here but with an Intel based system.
I installed the lastest USB 3.0 Driver for my Mainboard
ASUS Z97 A
Which offers these drivers:
Intel USB 3.0 Driver V3.0.0.16 for Windows Win7 32bit & Win7 64bit---(WHQL). (2014/05/08)
Now my system freezes after accessing any hard drives in the explorer.
I tried USB 2 und USB 3 ports. No difference.
Is there an USB Filter fix for Intel as well? Where do i get it?

Update of Intel Graphics driver seems to have solved the problem.
Windows Event Log gives too much information which is meaningless to me. Some examples:
Critical! The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Many examples of this, they seem to be associated with the sudden re-boots prompted by clicking on googlemaps.
Warning!: Detection of product '{2E01F63B-1581-4478-BFDD-C2BD93AA12EE}', feature 'cenlpd' failed during request for component '{75675B34-2158-4ED5-84B2-99CEBE5E6FDD}'
Curiously a now functioning googlemaps loads the 'old' googlemaps page after URL entry whereas before the graphics driver update the 'new' googlemaps page would load upon URL entry. As soon as I clicked anywhere in the 'new' page the screen would immediately go black as the reboot began but now, with the updated Intel driver, the 'old' page seems to function normally. Stay tuned.....

1. The Browser being used.

I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.

Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
Any other suggestion?

Yes please i cant find the source anywhere. I have tried in bunch of computer on all or win 7 64bit but couple of them opening the crash report. Having said that program is working with no issues. it just opens the window when i exit from the application

the mp3 clicking is heard in both Media Player and iTunes

Cheryl, I figured out what the problem is/was.
The problem was that once I was on a win7 screen, ready to install, for some reason, the computer failed to recognize the usb cd/dvd drive.
This link from Microsoft told me that once I reached that part, I needed to remove the usb drive and put it in ANOTHER USB slot on the laptop.
I installed win7 using the link that you gave me for making MY OWN win7 dvd. That did the trick. I don't know if it would have been EASIER if I would have thought of using the discs that I bought from HP ($16), but it's a moot point now.
Anyways, thanks Cheryl for your help. It led me to searching in the right area.
I do have a DIFFERENT problem now, but it has nothing to do with win7 not installing on new hard drive on a laptop without a built-in cd/dvd drive.

I have recently bought a NB550D with c-50.
There are many threads around the internet and here regarding upgrades. It seems that 2 are the main difficulties or desired things to do with this laptop with equal challenges.
1. upgrade the memory to 4gb
2. Install win 7 64bit.
I have decided to embark for both, so in here i will try to summarise what i have done or have been doing in order to help others who might want to do a similar thing:
1. Memory
In summary it looks like the laptop can use both DDR3-1066 and DDR3-1333 at DDR3-1066 speed. People report that the kingston modules have no issue.
After reading many forums i have decided to buy Kingston memory DDR3-1333 since the kingston 1066 was not available from the shop i visited.
I have installed it and running fine both in the original OS (started) and in Ultimate 64bit (current). The difference is day and night.
2. Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.
After reading around in forums it's clear that people have issues with the drivers and mainly the display drivers. Here is what i have done so far, although I'm still in the process of updating drivers:
1. Downloaded the realtek Lan driver from here:

I downloaded only the driver "Win7 and WinServer 2008 R2 Driver" version 7.049

2. After i have downloaded and installed the lan driver i went online and let the system do the first microsoft updates:
Amongst the first 4 there were 2 updates:
ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - AMD Radeon HD 6200 series Graphics
TOSHIBA - Other hardware - TOSHIBA x64 ACPI-Compliant Value Added Logical and General Purpose Device
The first one has enabled the screen to native resolution, which seems that many people had issues wtih. The second one i have no idea exactly what it does but for sure some of the fn keys are working like the volume and brightness that i use and the num pad. There are no flashing cards mind you to inform you of the changes with the fn keys.
3. next i have installed the Atheros wireless driver from the Toshiba website. I haven't looked for the latest one but if anyone knows please let us know.
4. I have also installed the latest graphics card and HDMI drivers with the catalyst software from here:

5. From the same site i have downloaded and installed the amd AHCI drivers and an AMD usb filter driver:

10. Synaptics pad (official synaptics site has as latest drivers the ones with gestures. Has anyone installed them or used the ones from toshiba website?)

Firefox 24.0 will not start in Win 7 64bit environment on Dell N5010 i3 Inspiron after upgrade/fresh instal

My Computer Notebook is a Dell N5010 Inspiron with an i3 processor running a Win 7 64bit OS. Firefox has always run smoothly on it. I could not exactly determine when it started failing to open after each attempt to start but I think it was when I accepted the offer to upgrade to Firefox 24.0. I have since then upgraded at least 5 times without any change in performance. From another customer experience in the Support website I downloaded the Setup file and tried fresh installation with the same result. What I have not tried is removal of the Profile because I do not know how to replace the Profile file.

It's ridiculous how difficult this is. I've reinstalled iTunes, played with the settings, and it just doesn't work.
It will happily sync my computer library (which has nothing in it) with my phone library (589 songs) thereby (presumably) wiping out the 589 songs.
But I can't get it to sync the other way and copy the iPhone library to the computer.
It also puts new CDs on the computer but not on the phone, where I want them.
Is there anyone at Apple that cares about this abject stupidity in the software?

Ppcs5 on win 7 (64bit) runtime error message when starting PPRO

Just installed cs5 on a dell win 7 64bit machine, and when I start ppro cs5 I get an error message that says "Runtime Error!.... this application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusal way...
On a different machine (win 7 (64 bit), I don't get the error message. Anyone else experience this issue and know how to resolve... is it an Adobe problem or a Microsoft problem?

Laserjet 1320 on win 7 (64bit) - cannot access from a networked XP Pro machine?

I have a Laserjet 1320 and a Officejet 6450 attached to a win 7 (64bit) machine - both work fine.
Have a home workgroup network established with an XP pro machine. Both printers are "shared" etc..
I can access the Offiejet from the XP machine, but cannot get access to the Laserjet. Claims that
the proper Driver cannot be located. Have downloaded the PCl5 driver to the Win 7 machine, but when
I point the XP machine to the HP PCL5 Driver folder on the win 7 machine it still cannot find the proper driver.
Any help will be appreciated.

The version of Visual Studio being used is 2002 (getting on a bit now).
We had a play about with the way we installed the MSI installer we had created that installs the Crystal Reports runtimes (merge modules) and managed to get it to work on both Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.
The solution was a weird one, but seemed to work (but was different to what I had done before to get it to work). We made sure the MSI was local on the PC and right-clicked the MSI and selected the ''Troubleshoot Compatibility' ' option. Not 100% why this would work, but it seems to have done the trick.

Boot Camp does not come on DVD, what did you install.

Problems with downgrade from Win 8.1 to Win 7 64bit on Satellite S70-A-11H

Hi,
My daughter already has a Tosh laptop with Win 7 64bit which is several years old and has seen better days, so for Christmas I bought her a new S70-A-11H notebook with Win 8.1 pre-installed.
She hates it. In fact she will not use the new laptop at all unless it has Win 7 on it.
For people that do not use a tablet or a Windows phone and like a desktop feeling machine Windows 8 does not work for us.
Now I work in a niche IT role using numerous OS such as Microsoft Windows (XP, Win7, Server 2003, Server 2008) and Solaris as well as a bit of RedHat.
Now my Win8 experience is zero.
I thought it would be simple enough to install a retail copy of Win7 with SP1 64bit onto this notebook.
Not so easy as it turns out.
When I boot from the Win 7 install DVD the installer program locks up as the Win 7 logo starts to appear on the screen. If I try an install in safe mode the last driver that appears to load when the lock up occurs is disk.sys.
So the question is how can I install Win 7 64bit SP1 onto this notebook using a retail copy of Win7?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

*I found the reason for this problem* and the solution outside of this forum.
If anyone else is interested _the issue is cause by the use of GPT partions on the 8.1 build._
To overcome this and install a fresh copy of Win7 you can do this:
-Shut down Windows 8 while pressing the Shift key to completely power off.
-Power on and press F2 while the Toshiba logo is displayed to enter the UEFI Setup Menu.
-Go to the Security tab and set the "Secure Boot" setting to "Disabled".
-Go to the Advanced tab, enter "System Configuration" and set the Boot Mode to "CSM Boot."
-Press F10 to save and exit.
Go to http://gparted.sourceforge.net/ and download gparted boot image. Make bootable gparted cd and use it to delete the GPT partitions on the HDD.
Now just install Win7 64bit as you normally would creating whatever partitions you like during the install process. Of course you must have a new licence key for Win7 for this to work.
To finish off you will need to download all the required drivers from the Toshiba website to suit Win7 64bit. This is quite tedious as some of the files are huge. I got just the basics that I thought I'd need and that ended up being over 1Gb of files.
I'm so pleased I managed to get rid of that nasty Win8 interface.
This is probably not the only way to do this, but this worked for me.
