E pub books on BB Playbook

Moved a collection of epub books to playbook successfully.  Cannot find or view them in playbook.  Cannot find an app that will read epub.   Any suggestions?

You can't do that on the Playbook.  The Kobo reader app is the only app that will read epub files and it only reads epub files purchased from Kobo.
You'll have to wait until either Kobo allows us to read other epub files or another ereader app is written for the Playbook.

I incorrectly replaced the backup for my iPad2 by accident when I tried to retrieve it to my new iPad Air.  It now no longer exists.
I can still see the icons of the books on Kalahari's reader. (Kalahari is an e-pub bookshop in South Africa.

I know for certain that the Adobe ID (e-mail address) is still correct. See below.  The password seems to be the problem.  This appears to have been changed a few times over the past two and a half years.  Which one? Was hoping Adobe could help. (case number: 0214089318)
Can anyone please assist me to get back on track, what should I do to open and read my e-pub books again?
    Much appreciated.

  • Kobo books on blackberry playbook

Everything works on my playbook except a book from Kobo I ordered and can't seem to open. I haven't had any problems in the past. I have downloaded books without a problem. This particular book started okay, but now it just won't open. Any suggestions?

have you tried a restart of the PlayBook?

  • How do I read a book from iBooks on my Mac?

I've been wondering about this for some time now.
I can write, make movies, read Amazon books and B&N e-pub books, watch streaming video, get on the internet with all my Macs and iPod and iPad -- all my book purchases are saved in iTunes on my Mac -- but, when it comes app software for my Mac Pro to read the books that Apple sells in iBooks, I cannot do it!!!
BUT! with Amazon, I can download the book, read it on my iPod, iPad, Mac Pro -- via internet or from my desktop -- watch or stream a movie on my Mac, buy stuff from Amazon on my Mac and iPod/iPad... store my books online or back them up to my Mac...
It is very frustrating to say the least.
My friend's son has a iMac.
But, they don't buy books from the Apple iBook Store because, as she puts it, "Why would I bother? My son has an iMac, but not an iPad, and he can't open the iBooks on his iMac, so I buy books from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. Then he can read them on a big, beautiful, sharp 27" screen. Plus, he can easily make the lettering bigger, if needed. Then, he can do whatever else he needs to do on his computer, all while running several programs all at once... not something that can be done on a $500-$700 iPad."
Apple needs to fix this, don't you think?

Reworded for Macbook, iTunes, and iPad feature enhancement/software and hardware compatibility feedback and submitted this to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback  I did not see iBooks listed as an Apple iOS app for direct feedback.
In addition to backing up and syncing through iTunes, please provide the ability to seamlessly open and read iBooks (a.k.a. Apple iBook Textbooks and interactive ebooks and other epub/pdf content saved in iBooks) and content purchased through the iBookstore on MacOS computers, not just iOS devices.  While the new MacbookPro with retina display and other systems are essential for various computing tasks, referencing and reading books without shifting to another device is a major purchasing and productivity factor. I can currently do this with Amazon, Google, VitalSource, and Nook books.  The ability to seamlessly move between reading books on an iOS device, MacOS computer, or within a Web browser and have integrated highlighting, notes, social sharing and other features sync between all three is highly desirable.  Without this option, I will generally need to purchase books and other content from these sources or directly from the publishers, but not Apple.
    Thank You.

  • How do I change size of book in IBOOKS AUTHOR?

i need to change the size and style of my book in ibooks author, such as a coupon format, is that possible? If so How?

    Hello Felina,
As far as I am aware there is no way to change the document sizes.
There are just the two document sizes available, they are landscape and portrait.
I look forward to seeing if there is a way of changing an iBooks document size.
Have you looked at creating a standard e-Pub book instead this format may allow you to create the document shape and size you are thinking about.

    Nigel

  • E-pub exported from Pages

These files are not being read by my Sony PRS-505 they exort as a single error page. E-pub books from other sources are no problem. Is there a DRM inbuilt that needs to be switched, or have I made a stupid mistake?

The reader shows an exclaimation mark inside a triangle with Page Error underneath. So if there's no DRM to prevent it reading it, it is almost certain that the reader is at fault.
On looking more closely, I think it must be a reader problem as the file is loaded and shows as a file size of 445Kb and as an epub document. Over to Sony!

  • How do I submit my e book to the i book store

How do I submit my e-pub book to the i store and get approved as quickly as possible?

There was a question on exactly this topic a few days ago. I suggest you search past topics.
If it says it needs Leopard then very, very likely you have to have Leopard. You might get away with an earlier version of Leopard (no reason to though, since once you buy Leopard the updates are free).
My link to Leopard system requirements now shows Snow Leopard which isn't even for sale yet so maybe somebody else has a specific system requirements link for Leopard.
For hardware suggestions (more RAM) I suggest you post on the hardware forum for your computer. I think RAM upgrades are usually relatively easy to do yourself, though you have to make sure you get the right RAM (Macs can be pretty picky). Get advice from others users of your computer model on the hardware forum for your model.

  • DRM protected elibrary books

Anyone know if RIM has plans to release an app (this millenium...) that will allow reading of DRM protected books borrowed from public libraries using overdrive? I really don't want to have to jump through hoops to be able to borrow a library book (illegally removing DRM protection, storing in cloud so I can't read when no wifi connection etc).

If you have upgraded to the new 2.0 OS, you can use OverDrive Media Console – Library eBooks and Audiobooks for BlackBerry PlayBook:
    http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/80929/?lang=EN
Once you install it, swipe down  from the top when you open Overdrive.
Select "more options" "help" "download ebooks"
You don't download adobe digitial editions - you enter your id in the Overdrive settings. Read the help I referenced above.
Overdrive is all you need to open library books on the Playbook. No more jumping through hoops with the upgraded OS.

  • Blank writeable pages in e-pub format

hello, can anyone help me to know if it is possible to create  a blank writeable page with Pages in e-pub  book format
If it's possible can anyone tell me.  Thanks.

    Hi inauta,
    E-Pub is essentially a read-only format.
The current version (E-Pub 3.0) does not appear to support writeable pages, according to the article in Wikipedia. It may allow for annotation, but does not provide a specification for this.
Full specs for the E-Pub standard may be found at the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) website.

  • Book opens in digital editions but isn't in library?

I purchased a E-pub book that opens in Adobe Digital Editions but then I can't find it in my library to transfer it to my e-reader.  What am I missing?

For others that have this problem, deleting/renaming the "My Digital Editions" folder under my documents solved the problem, it is downloading books correctly now.

  • E Reader books on ibooks - is it possible

Having just upgraded my 3G to the new V 4.0.1 software so now have the ibooks app on my phone.
Previously I ran a Sony E Reader and have Pdf & E pub books bought for that - are they compatibale and if so how can I get my E Reader books into my iphone.

It's not a matter of format (ePub) it's a matter of encryption (DRM).
You can go and download and unencrypted ePub formatted ebook and read it on your Sony, Nook, Kobe reader or your iPad.
Anything published recently, with a few exceptions, is encrypted by some flavor of DRM. Apple uses Fairplay, most everyone else minus Amazon/Kindle uses ADEPT which is Adobe's flavor of DRM.

  • EBooks

Am considering buying a Playbook... can you tell me which formats are used for eBook reading (PDF??)
also, which software is used to download books?  (Adobe?)
and... are you able to borrow library books using the Playbook?
    Thank you in advance
    jean
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There's an ebook reader app in App World for a small amount of money, like £1 or $1, that will read Kindle, EPUB, etc but they MUST be DRM free, which means any purchased Kindle books for example would need to be unlocked by an app on your laptop. You can decide if that is legal or not in your country. See link for full description of formats.
    http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/50823/?lang=en
If it was me I would buy the Playbook as a very powerful outdoor business browser and emailer, and a Kindle for books.

  • Battery charge won't hold

I need help!  A couple of days ago I was reading a book on my PlayBook for at least 2hours and and the charge still showed 100 per cent. And when I left the PlayBook in stand by mode over night the charge hardly changed at all. This morning the charge was at 38 per cent when I left it  at 100 per cent last night.  Now the charge is disappearing - even on stand by - at the rate of 10 per cent in less than half an hour.  I'm new to PlayBook so I'm not sure what is normal. Could someone help?  Many thanks.

Thanks so much for your help.  I have tried your suggestion twice now and the charging is holding much better although not as well as it was originally.  I will keep trying.  Cheers!  Karen
