  • Using Sinhala Unicode Fonts with Indesign

    Hello,
We are having trouble using  Sinhala Unicode Font with Indesign. We require this to covert content to the EPUB format.
Siyabas - how to install Sinhala Unicode
Do you know if there is a  Plug-in for the Sinhala Unicode Font? Or is there someone in the community working on it?
    Thank you.

Hi, Thanks for your post. We want to convert to reflow able text, which can include illustrations (For Example - Children's Books).
We tried FM Abbhaya Font as it is easy to read and using a traditional Sinhala keyboard input method.
For Some reason we cannot get this input to be recognized by Adobe Indesign, to convert to an Epub format.
We tried the open font on Windows, but it means selecting each character from a table. As a small publisher it is not practical.
In fact the ideal path for us will be to convert our printed books to Epubs using OCR.
Any thoughts on that? Thanks for your time.

  • Flex3 Not Displaying Sinhala Unicode Fonts in the MXML File

I am using Flex 3.2  for my project.
I want use Sinhala Unicode Fonts But inside the Mxml File I cannot type the Sinhala Characters.
When I change the Keyboard to Sinhaha inside the Flex3 Sinhala Characters are not dispalying.
But when I run the application I can see the fonts in the Browser.
    I am using Windows 7.
    Thanks
    Shums

Thanks Tom. Yeah, I understand that PDFs are not designed to work like word-processing files, etc., and the need to have the Chinese text copy over well is really just to prove that the document is searchable (i.e. if it can copy a short section of text Ok, then it means the characters are recognized by the PDF reader and I can search the document, which is my main goal.)
The problem I mentioned with Preview, etc., is actually a new one; one that has become a big problem for me only in the last few weeks. Before, I never had this issue. I'm not sure what changed, but I was suspecting MacKeeper and their "language cluster" cleaning feature, where it "helps" you by removing unused fonts. Though, I can't quite confirm that this has played a role. I just completely reinstalled the OS thinking that this would fix the issue by installing all the original fonts again, if MacKeeper did indeed remove the fonts these PDF programs use when editing or saving PDF files. However.....unfortunately....the problem is still here.
So, that developer I mentioned in the first thread who said this is an OS X issue may indeed be correct.
And just to be clear, I have confirmed that the PDF's I working with do have the fonts embedded already. It is only when I alter them and then save or export from Preview, Skim, Nomad, etc., that the character information gets stripped out and I'm left with a document that one can read but cannot search. I can't even OCR it because this problem also affects my OCR software, as if it can't get access to the fonts needed to embed in the recognized PDF.
Any other thoughts? I'd appreciate any you have.

  • Downloading e-pub with digital watermarking protection

Hi all; I always bought e-books for my Nook and successfully downoaded them. The format was e-pub with DRM protection. Downoadings are addressed to 'bought books' directory in Adobe Digital Editions and then they're readable on 'my documents' in my Nook. The last one I bought, was an e-book e-pub with digital watermarking protection. I don't know if different protection is the cause, but this time the downloading is automatically addressed to 'reading now' in ADE. This time the e-book is not in the list of 'bought books' (in ADE). When I disconnect Nook, the book is in 'my documents' list (of Nook), but when I try to open it, I only see the cover for a couple of seconds, and the page is reverted again to 'my documents'.
How to do? I can open it in ADE on my PC, but not on Nook. I'll appreciate any help!

I moved your posting from the Workspaces forum to the Digital Editions forum.

  • Button with label Unicode

    Hi everybody!
I want to creat an applet, and there's one button in it. I want to set its label with some Unicode chars. For example, I want to use Chinese chars as the label for this button. Does anybody can explain me how I can do it?
    Thanks in advanced.

You should be able to just set the lable to whatever chinese character you want to use. Just create a string that holds those characters, and call Button's setLabel method.

  • Flash 9 Public Alpha work uncomplete format with Khmer Unicode on design page view

I am trying using your trial product in Cambodia to test the
Khmer Unicode of usp10.dll in system32 of Windows XP Professional
and Windows Vista Ultimate, but I am sad to tell you that Flash 9
Public Alpha did not support with Khmer Unicode in the right format
of Khmer Language. Can you include Khmer Unicode Fonts into your
Flash 9 Public Alpha? Even though Flash 9 Public Alpha has some
error of character spaces with with Khmer Unicode on the design
view, but as you press Ctrl key + Enter to test video, it display
well Khmer Unicode Format. Please try correct more on the design
page view, I hope Flash 9 Public Alpha will fully support with
    Khmer Unicode.
    Khmer
    Unicode Downlaod
    Thank you and best regards,

In IE it shows as a blank page (white), in Firefox  it's all there.  I'd suspect a CSS issue.

  • Engraving with a unicode character

didn't know where the best place to ask this question was...
i'm about to replace my 5th gen ipod with an 80GB ipod classic. i want to get it engraved with a unicode character (ॐ), but when i type it into the "Line 1" field it doesn't show up. It shows up as a question mark (?). Is this just on the website, or will it actually engrave as a question mark. I really want to make sure it engraves with what i want since i can't return engraved items.
    Please and thank you

    Hi Mexigerm,
Accented and other special characters, including "~*\, cannot be used in your iPod engraving or gift message.
Unfortunately your character is also included on the list.
If you proceed with the engraving, a question mark will appear... Sorry!
    Hope this helps!

  • Issue with Sinhala and Tamil text in Illustrator

I have some text sent to me from Sri Lanka in Microsoft word - Tamil (Arial Unicode MS) and Sinhala (Iskoola Pota). In the Microsoft Word document they appear correctly.
I need to transfer this text into Adobe Illustrator. When I do a direct cut and paste, the characters for both languages appear distorted with some characters jumping ahead of others.
I have tried to cut and paste it into Notepad and then insert it into Illustrator but the same thing happens.
I have selected the appropriate fonts as outlined above in Adobe Illustrator.
I also have unicodes installed into my computer.
Is there a way to transfer Sinhala and Tamil text from Microsoft Word into Illustrator and for the characters to remain as they are in Word?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi larry. Yes I have the fonts installed - from http://www.locallanguages.lk/
I have tried it in Indesign and the same thing happens - refer to image below. The top text is in Indesign. The bottom is the correct version in Word. There are slight changes to the characters in the first two words, and then in the third word you can see that it has switched a character all together.

  • Unicode Errors - Interface with non-Unicode 3rd party system

Does anyone have an experience working with an interface between a Unicode SAP system and a non-Unicode 3rd party system? Would appreciate your input on existing data declaration and logic (prior to SAP Unicode conversion), if changes need to be made to the character types and upload/download functions.
We are doing our testing in a newly converted Unicode system which has interface sending files through SAP Business Connector, and uses TDAccess/COMM-PRESS to encrypt the payment file.
We are getting an COMM-PRESS error that it's not able to get the private key
    ERR=>RC=107#Error building signature segment (S1A/S2A) ERR=>#Error getting private key: #PUBLIC KEY FINGERPRINT = , rc = 524
The issue seems to be that the passphrase is not received correctly in COMM-PRESS (codepage 1100) from Unicode SAP (codepage 4102). The passphrase is uploaded from a text file (codepage 1100?) to T_PPLOC and then to W_PPLOC.
    TYPES: BEGIN OF T_PPLOC,
             FLINE(64) TYPE C,
           END OF T_PPLOC.
    DATA: W_PPLOC(64)  TYPE C
    CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_UPLOAD'
          EXPORTING
            FILENAME                = W_FILENAME
            FILETYPE                = 'BIN'
          TABLES
            DATA_TAB                = T_PPLOC
        LOOP AT T_PPLOC.
          IF W_PPLOC IS INITIAL.
            MOVE T_PPLOC-FLINE TO W_PPLOC.
          ELSE.
            CONCATENATE W_PPLOC T_PPLOC-FLINE INTO W_PPLOC.
          ENDIF.
        ENDLOOP.
Comparing the results between a Unicode and non-Unicode system, the uploaded passphrase is different because of the codepage. But even if I convert the passphrase first from 1100 to 4102 codepage, it still fails.

    Hi,
Try this by sending value to the CODEPAGE parameter of the function module GUI_UPLOAD.

  • Problem with transfering unicode form data in MULTIPART/FORM-DATA

    HI experts,
I have this web based multilingual application. Page 1(form6.jsp) is basic registeration form with 5 fields and one image upload to the server. Page 2(verify.jsp) is another jsp page for verification of UTF data entered in page 1.
page 2 (verify.jsp) also uses a bean called (verify.java) for picking up values. page 3(insertEntry.jsp) is the page for inserting that data into the Database and uses a bean called (logicbean.java).
Now, the problem im facing here is that if i use multipart/form-data, the unicode text filled in page1 is shown as garbage when its is transfered to page2 and displayed on page2. It is all gibberish. But if i do not use multipart/form-data, the unicode text transfered from page1 to page2 is displayed perfectly on page2.Im using devenagari(UTF) language for filling in details.

  • Need help with Tamil unicode fonts in Macbook OSX 10.6.7

I am really desperate for some help figuring out my Tamil unicode font problem. With great difficulty I got all these fonts set up on my previous ibook G4. When that computer died in the fall I got this new Macbook, and had all my data brought from the old computer to the new one. Fonts were working great, as before. Well recently I had a hard drive failure on my new Macbook (OSX 10.6.7). I now have a new hard drive, and I brought over all my data from an external hard drive using Time Machine. Everything appeared to be working great....except the Tamil fonts. Previously I was using Murasu Anjal unicode font which allowed me to type in Tamil font and view Tamil on webpages, no problem. I understand that Snow Leopard has Tamil font support (including Anjal), so I am confused as to why they were working before but are not working now-especially because on my husband's Macbook Pro (OSX 10.6.5) you can see Tamil fonts on webpages and he has no special Tamil font installed whatsoever. For me the only thing visible is boxes. I am in the midst of finishing up a dissertation which is really dependent on being able to read and write in Tamil fonts. I am desperate to get this fixed but just cannot seem to figure it out. I would greatly appreciate any help or advice!!! Thanks so much!!!

I've always used the Anjal keyboard with no problem...at least there was no problem before my MacBook hard drive had to be replaced, with a newer operating system, as I had mentioned previously. When I type in Pages, NeoOffice or TextEdit, the results are the same. Many of the characters show up, but vowel combinations--especially the "o" or "u" vowels--show up incorrectly or are unintelligible. Strangely, typing in Tamil font (using Anjal keyboard) in internet searches works perfectly, but ONLY in Firefox (?) NOT in the Safari browser. Prior to re-installing the InaiMathi font, which had seemingly vanished with the transfer of my data to the new hard drive, I was unable to type Tamil anywhere, not even in Firefox. Now it works only in Firefox. For example, if I were to type in Tamil in this window, it works fine: தமிழ் நாடு.
Being able to do Tamil searches in Firefox as I had previously is really a major boon for me, but of course I'd love to be able to produce Tamil text, especially as I am about to embark on a 6 month research jaunt to South Asia.
Many thanks for all your help thus far, and for any further advice you might have.

  • RFC destination definition with non-unicode external program

    Hello All,
we have one issue with our RFID system connecting to WM system (SWD).
For most functions, external RFID server/middleware makes RFC call to SAP system.  Means, from outside system to inside SAP.  This seems to be working fine.
But in one case, SAP needs to print label to RFID printer.  In this case, SAP is calling external RFID server/middleware using RFC destination.  Means, from inside SAP to outside system.  This is failing.
We think this has something to do with ECC60 being unicode system, and the RFC destination setup.  We define rfc destination "ZRFID_SSI" in SM59.  We define it same way as in as-is SSI 4.6B production system.  But in SWD ECC60 system, SM59 has more options.  We define as 'non-unicode' because target RFID server/middleware is non-unicode Windows server.  RFC destination is actually working ok.
To send label to printer, SWD calls function ZFSSIRF202 with remote destination ZRFID_SSI.   Listener on RFID server/middleware will respond to function call.  This also seems to be working.  But then, RFID server/middleware cannot process the data from ZFSSIRF202, log says that data is "0".  (Actually, the first time SWD calls, log says 0 data, the 2nd time there is connection failure, the 3rd time it is 0 data, 4th time connection failure, etc, etc.)
Compared with production environment, everything is the same, except that SAP is unicode system.  So, our suspicion is, that when ECC60 system sends data, it is encoded somewhat a little different than when SAP 46B system sends data.  I have similar experience with our other interface (XSI), also involving RFC desintion, but XML file exchange.  Here, ECC60 is encoding XML file with UTF-16, but SAP46B was encoding with UTF-8.
Anyone know how to help ?

    Hi Jeongbae,
as of NW 7.0 EhP2, it is possible to directly set the code page in SM59.
In earlier releases, this is not possible.
In general, SAP systems use the logon language (SY-LANGU)  to determine the code page, if this is available.
    Please check SAP note 788239.
Please also have a look at SAP note 991572 for possible alternative settings, if SY-LANGU is not available.
In addition I would recommend to have a look at SAP note 1021459.
However in order to analyze the problem properly, you need to know the exact short dump text (via rfc trace).
For XML processing, please read SAP note 1017101. UTF-16 should NOT be used in an XML file !
    Best regards,
    Nils Buerckel

  • [SOLVED]How do I deal with non-unicode filenames inside archives?

I often get archives from Japanese Windows users with file names encoded in one of the myriad of Japanese character sets. Windows is pretty good about converting the filename to unicode before passing it on to any program or computer that expects it. However, it won't touch the filenames of things inside the archive for obvious reasons. Any way to make, say, unzip or 7z convert the filenames to unicode as they're extracted? At the moment I run Windows in Virtualbox and connect back to a shared folder and let Windows do the unzipping.

I don't know if there's any advancement WRT this, but there's a work-around here (under "UnZip Locale Issues" ) using convmv.

  • LSMW: Codepage conversion error with a Unicode data file

    Hi all,
I am currently developing a LSMW upload program which has to use a Unicode data file. The underlying system/target system is NOT a Unicode system. The data file also contains non-Latin2 characters.
In the step "Specify Files", I have specified my Unicode data file and specified the codepage type "4110 - Unicode UTF-8".
In the step "Read Data", then I get the runtime error "CONVT_CODEPAGE", exception "CX_SY_CONVERSION_CODEPAGE".
I would expect that all non-Unicode characters are automatically transformed to "#", but the conversion progam breaks. The character transformation to "#" would be fine.
I am really wondering why, at first, I am able to specify the Unicode codepage type, but then, the file cannot be converted correctly.
What do I make wrong, what can I do to avoid the error?
Thanks a lot in advance for helping me out...
    Regards,
    Klaus

    Hello,
You need convert the file with the format UTF-8. In notepad you can choose this option.
    Regards,
    Oscar.

  • Mixing Unicode with non-unicode

Hi, Wwe have ECC 6.0 and BI 7.0 running on Windows 2003 and Oracle 10.2.0.4 all on non-unicode
We are about to install another BI 7.0 landscape.
If I install this new BI 7.0 on unicode, should I expect issues when communicating between systems such as BI loads?
    Thanks.

BI-Java are in the works for 2009, so, I will need to convert my first BW instance to unicode... ouch, that part was not planned. so, I guess I will have a lot of work in 2009.
Technically it might work with a non-Unicode backend but you never know...
If your BI system is a single codepage system the UC conversion is not that big. The tools are meanwhile so good you shouldn´t have any big issues. Make sure you are on the latest BASIS support package, this will help a lot.
so, I will install the new BI landscape using unicode, that will save me from converting this system later.
    yes - definitely.
And if the connected ERP (or CRM or whatever) backend is only single codepaged there won´t be any problems when you exchange data.
