E-Recruiting 6.0: Search Profile & Search Template

Hi Experts,
I am trying to enhance and configure the Search function (which can be triggered in Talent Management or Candidate Selection Search) in E-Recruiting 6.0
Can anyone tell me the difference in config/purpose between the config:IMG->SAP E-Recruiting->Recruitment->Talent Warehouse->Candidate->Candidate Search, Search Profile and Search Template?
I read the online help and it only describe about Search Template and not Search Profile. I also check the standard system and it only displays what is configured for Search Template and NOT Search Profile.
Is the Search Profile still in use and what is the purpose if I have already configured the Search Template?

Hello Bill,
unfortunately the information that an internal candidate has left (or will leave - in this case the is_inactive flag will be set at the leave date via a periodical service processing table t77rcf_p_stat) can be easily seen on the databese but not in the e-recruiter applications.
I am not really sure if the employee id should disappear in candidacy table or not (customers see this different according to their attitute to rehiring people) but in general sap did not implement alot of functionalities to differ between internal and external candidates. Ok there is something for correspondence but it is not even possible to have different questionaires in the application wizard for external iand internal applicants.
In my opinion I'd assume that an employee applying on an internal position and leaving in the process is a 1 of 1000 case, as long as the process does not take eternities so I personally would not invest much effort into it. You cannot handle every special case in a system (or at leat noone pays for it) and from my experience in companies up to perhaps 2k employees, everyone in HR knows who leaves.
If you really have a strong business need in this issue, e.g. positions are published internally and once someone leaves has imedeately taken of the position you could use the the e-recruiting BAdI which is available in the BAdI implementation delivered by SAP to handle the candidate creation and stuff. You could add functionality into it that it tracks if there is a leave and the candidate has open applications and send the recruiter of the requisition an email. Other solution might be a periodical service or any other background job which checks this and destributes the information so the recruiter can take the necessary actions.

Hi Recruiting-Experts,
I´m facing problems with "Search Profiles" and "Search Templates"
(Customizing SPRO --> SAP-E-Recruiting --> Recruitment --> Talent Warehouse --> Candidate --> Candidate Search )
Out customers wants me to add a new search criterion to the talent search. It's a customer-field (type 'd' --> Date) belonging to infotype 5106.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. The hit list is always empty.
What I did:
Customizing (see above)
Updated search profile (report RCF_RECREATE_SEARCH_PROFILES)
The result:
I can see and choose the new search criterion on talent warehouse search site (recruiters startpage)
I can find the data (internal format yyyymmdd) via transaction SKPR07 (see XML below, ZZEARLIEST_ENTRY 20090901)
By the way, the hit list is also empty when adding and searching for birthdate.
Has it got to do with the date stored in internal format?

E-Recruiting : Creation of Search Profile for custom infotypes

Dear experts,
Can anyone let me know if you have created search profiles for custom infotypes in eRecruiting?
The requirement is for the TREX to be able to search for Candidates based on the fields which are defined in this custom infotype. This infotype (9999) is completely custom defined mapped to object NA.
In the IMG,
I don't have to change the search profile type
I created a new Z Information category.
Here, i have to specify an extraction class for this Z Information Category.
Can anyone please tell me what this should be? Can i give it as "CL_HRRCF_CEC_INFOTYPE" ?
Also, can anyone please mention the significance of the table "T77RCF_SPT_INFTY " and how we should be handling the entries here for our custom infotype ? Should we create a custom class to specify here? How should we do this ?
Any inputs & thoughts regarding this will be invaluable.
Needless to say, i created the Z information category with the class CL_HRRCF_CEC_INFOTYPE but when i run the report RCF_RECREATE_SEARCH_PROFILE,It is giving me a lot errors.

To answer your question, Yes, automatic generation of NA for newly hired/created PERNR (P) is because of the integration you have activated between PA and eRecruit via BADI implementations. Look at OSS note 997181 for details on how integration works.
If you dont need integration between PA and eRecruit on PA40 then you may have to tweak the BADI's.

Recruiting problem with the candidate search by trex with questionnaires

Hi Gurus,
I am trying to search candidates using trex in recruiting by candidate_questionnaires but the trex does not show any result. How can I solve it?
When candidates register theirselves on internet, they complete questionnaires that I have added in the apllication wizard.
But the problem starts when I want to search candidates by the answers that they have complete in this questionnaire. So I select the criteria search candidate questionnaire, then I select the questionnaire and then the answer and I run the searh. I know that the results shown are always about others requisitions and not the one that I am doing the search. But in my case candidates are assigned in other requisition with the same process template so I do not know where is the problem, because other sort of search works fine. This is the only one that it does not work.
In addition, I have run the report RCF_CHECK_SEARCH_SETTINGS but the result is that all the parameters are fine except that I have not implement the badi HRAHAP00_FOLLOW_UP_SES. May I have to implement?
Moreover I have seen that when I select the answer to search, any operator (element of selection mask) is assigned but I have read that it is correct because I am using the search profile "int_cand" with the category "candidate_document" that it use in the mask search candidate_questionnaire.
In conclusion, I don't know how I can solve this problem with trex? Any idea?

How to find the .htm resource pages for search profiles?

Good Day All,
I am trying to customize the search page (search profiles) within UCM, i want to do that by use the appropriate .htm resource page within a custom component.
I found the checkin .htm pages and i can make changes on them and the changes are reflected on the UCM.

I have the following case:
assume that i have a field on ucm named "xDepartment", and its type on ucm is Int (integer) . This filed is configured to Table-View option list, and the view have two columns (key, value). also assume that i have the following data in this view:
1: CIS
2: MIS
3: BIS
4: Enginering
5: Accounting
on search profiles, when i select a profile that have this field, the possible values that can be searched are integer and will appear From - To ; since this field is defined as integer. But the user that will search don't know the mapped value for each key, because on checkin form the values appears on the secreen.
what i want to ask is:
can we specifiy the possible search values to be the values not keys of this view. can the search values appears like what values appearch in checkin page

IC winclient search profile

Iam trying to substitute function module CCMCS_BP_SUBCREATE2 with CCMCS_BP_POPULATE2 in the search profile for ICWINCLIENT. but it gives me a dump saying that parameter 'Searchtype' is missing for it. Has anyone come across this problem before?

After you have created the new IC web profiles, you have to assign them to the corresponding hierarchy nodes of the CRM organizational model: Either to an appropriate organizational unit, a position or directly to a user.
If you assign an IC WebClient profile to an organizational unit, it is also valid for all subordinated objects (like positions and users).
Use transaction code PPOMW to assign the IC web profile in the CRM org model.
In the organizational structure select the appropriate position. Double-click on this position in the Task assignment area.
From the menu bar choose Goto/Detail object/Enhanced object description.
On tab Active highlight the infotype IC WebClient Profile.
Choose Create infotype (F5) ans put in your IC wen profile then save.

TREX in E-Recruiting - How to speed up searching?

We have TREX configured correctly in our E-Recruiting 6.0 system. All searches are working, the problem is that when performing key word searches it can take a long time before returning any results, sometimes up to 5 minutes long.
I have seen a lot of posts on how to configure and setup TREX, that is not what I am looking for. Rather what tips can anyone give on lowering the search times?
We have our reverse proxy set to timeout after 1 min. which is approximately the amount of time you would expect to have to wait for a search. Having to wait any longer is just not efficient and discourages our HR department from using the system.
Any optimization tips on improving search result times would be great!

Is it possible to shed some light on how full text searches read data from tables T7KWLOIO and T&KWPHIO?
When we test searches using SKPRO07 using document class HR_DOC the results come back quickly, under 5 seconds.
However, when testing the same search from the unregistered job search, or searching for a requisition to assign a candidate search (both of which read from the tables listed above) the search takes up to 3 - 5 minutes.
We have approximately 350k records in both tables and it is searching through all of them it would appear.
We just added an application server as well as approximately 16gb of RAM, so I do not believe that hardware is an issue.
You had mentioned a 2gb limit on the indexing server process, are you referring to searching or indexing of data? The issue we have is with searching not indexing.

When i check the search status
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
As of now search service application is online and search is working.But not sure why it throws the above error.
I have restarted timer service,search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please try below mentioned steps:
1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable
2. Then open windows administrative services (services.msc), stop SharePoint Timer Service
3. Clear SharePoint Timer configuration cache by following steps mentioned in below blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jamesway/archive/2011/05/23/sharepoint-2010-clearing-the-configuration-cache.aspx
4. Start SharePoint Timer Service and give it a few seconds so that the new XML files from the location you deleted then are re-populated.
5.Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service" Timer Job > Enable

It says I have over 150 gigs of video on my hard drive. But I have gone through and deleted almost all of what shows up, still it says there is roughly the same amount on the hard drive. Where are these files? I want to delete them so I can have my hard drive clear.

In essence a backup is for catastrophic failure of your system. So it can be restored once that failure has been fixed. Not because you go in willy nilly and start deleting files.

ATG 10.1.2, Endeca guided search: Implementing search field

My team is working on implementing an application with ATG Commerce 10.1.2 and Endeca Guided Search 3.1.1, but no Endeca Experience Manager.
We understand that in a keyword search HTTP request that gets sent from ATG to Endeca, the following URI parameters must be present:
Ntt = Search keywords
Ntx = Match mode
Ntk = The search interface
Is there an ATG OOTB (out-of-the-box) component or mechanism for generating keyword search requests to Endeca guided search?
Or do we need to build the URI for the request from ATG to Endeca guided search with custom code?

If you would have been using the experience manager then you could have created/used cartidge for search box and inserted in your pages as below to show search textbox. here (/content/Shared/Global Search Configuration/Search Box) is path where Search Box cartidge is located in experience manager (you can refer CRS10.1.2 for it)

If I may impose on your generosity one more time, if I understand you correctly if I create a document on Word or WordPerfect, print it and scan it to create a pdf, the search function will not work. But, if I create the pdf document in Word the search function will work. Unfortunately, I am not sure how I create a pdf document in Word other than by printing it and scanning it. Could you please explain.

Finder Search -- complex search in a particular folder

This is embarrassing!
I want to use Finder
     File-->Find
to do complex searches (e.g. using "Kind", "Created Date", "Contents", etc.) on a specific folder. I want to use the Finder "Find" GUI, not the Spotlight "command line".
I think I need to discover how to add additional places, folders, to the search location header of the Finder Search window, which now contains (by default?)
     Search:   This Mac    "My HD"
In other words, if my target folder is called "Fum" I think I need to see
     Search:   This Mac    "My HD"   "Fum"
Then I need to select the right-most item to tell the Finder Search "just search the folder named 'Fum'". After that, I enter the search parameters.
But I cannot figure out how to do this.    I tried drag-and-dropping folder "Fum" on this line. I tried Command-F with "Fum" selected. I tried enabling the left tool-bar, getting "Fum" in the list, then highlighting "Fum".
D'oh!   It's such a stupid question that ... the obvious web searches are useless.
So... how is this done?
I feel like I'm totally missing some basic assumpation of the current 10.7 Finder search metaphor. Please feel free to fill me in.   (Why isn't there a "+" button at the far right of the Search locations header, instead of what I see now, only a "Save" and a "-" button? That would seem the logical way to add locations to search.)

I note that Finder Preferences ---> Advanced offers 3 choices for searches, schematically:
     When performing a search:
      (1) Search This Mac
      (2) Search the Current Folder
      (3) Use the Previous Search Scope

Just a moment... Selecting alternative (3) does the trick for me!   I can now restrict the search directory to "Fum". I just need to:
a) Choose Finder search preference (3), which to my mind implements "Search the Current Folder" and NOT "Use the Previous Search Scope".
b) Interpret "Current Folder" as the folder open and at front.
Life is now good!   <heavy sigh>

Any search engine search crashes Firefox.

Any search engine search instantly crashes any browser I try (Firefox, Chrome, IE). I have checked all my add-ons, used safe-mode, and reinstalled Firefox--nothing has worked.

For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

DNS Servers are a bit like Phone books where you look up a name and it gives you the phone number, in our case, you put in apple.com and it comes back with 17.149.160.49 behind the scenes.
These Servers have been patched to guard against DNS poisoning, and are faster/more reliable than most ISP's DNS Servers.
