In E Recruitment with latest version, can I use Webdynpro and BSP ( both ).
IF Webdynpro implements which scenarios we can implement and BSP.

The latest available version is EHP 3. With EHP3, you can use both interfaces. The candidate interface only is available in WebDynpro while the Recruiter and Administrator roles will still be in BSP. EHP4 is however in the ramp-up phase and will be available soon. With EHP4 all the scenarios will now be in WebDynpro. If you are implementing on a new project i suggest you go with WebDynpro. All new developements to SAP E-Recruiting are being done for WebDynpro and not BSP - they still however support BSP.

E-Recruiting BSP iView errors in the Enterprise Portal.

I am trying to get my e-Recruiting BSP applications to work correctly in the Portal. But unfortunatley I consistently get this error message.
The following error text was processed in the system:

Obviously the BSP iView is configured wrong. Have closer look at the URLs:
BSP in native browser:

Obviously the iView contains a parameter start or you defined the BSP application name as application.do/start

Drag and Drop with Calendar functionality in BSP/WebDynpro

I am not sure where to ask this information. First trying in this forum.
We are looking for a scheduling software-kind of functionality within SAP. We get service calls from customers if there is any leak on the roof. We would like to know if we can provide drag and drop functionality in BSP/Webdynpro. We are envisioning left pane with Leak Notification # (could be 25-30 Notification calls per office) and calendar(month or week) functionality on right pane of the page. The service manager can drag and drop Leak Notification # into Calendar on the right pane OR move around within Calendar. When they do that, we want to update certain custom table fields in SAP. Do you think this can be done in BSP or Webdynpro for ABAP easily. If so, can you point us in the right direction ?

Yes, we have used XHTMLB and PHTMLB extensively.
One last question if you don't mind since you now work for SAP. We have 1-2 BSP applications written without MVC pattern. We are thinking to convert that to MVC using Webdynpro ABAP. Do you suggest that for any new applications we should start using Webdynpro ABAP and not BSP ? I look at Webdynpro as ABAP query(with not much flexibility) and BSP as normal ABAP coding (which offers more flexibility). Is my assumption correct ? I want to know where SAP is investing in future; is it Webdynpro OR BSP ?
Also, do you know if SAP has come out with new themes like Design2009 or Design2010 or Design2011. We currently use Design2003 and it does not work well with Firefox or Chrome.

Hi,
the answer is easy - no, it is not possible.
The only available function in this direction is the reference code generation for posting instances which is already implemented. Furthermore a Badi for setting some requisition and posting data is announced for EHP3 - but as i haven't seen it so far i cannot say if it is useful.

Changing colors in E-recruitment BSPs

Hi all
I am working in E-recruitment BSP changes.
My requirement is to change the colors in the standard BSPs with own colors.
I tried to check any CSS file is associated with that application
but I could not find any CSS file in that BSP application.
is it related to themes?
I know we can replace the CSS file using themes
but can we use themes for standard E-Recruitment BSPs?
and also in themes we make use of the files in the presentation server
how can we make use of files in the server/mime repository?
How can we do that?
Please help me in this rerard..

E-Recruiting BSP to Web dynpro in EP4 scenario

Hi All,
We have currently upgraded EP3 to EP4. As per EP4 it no longer support BSP , it will support only Web dynpro.
What settigs are required to convert exsisting BSP application to Web dynpro.
Help from Experts would be great.

Yes. there are a few gaps in functionalities delivered in EHp4 for webdynpro screens. Can you please elaborate on what do you mean when you say "e.g Candidate page and Recruiter. "
In webdynpro ABAP screns of eRecruiting, there is NO concept of start pages as in BSP.Also there is no transaction to generate URLs.
For internal candidate screens, go to SE80, look in package PAOC_RCF_UI_SELF_SERVICES -> webdynpro -> webdynpro applications ->HRRCF_A_STARTPAGE_INT_CAND.Right click on the application name & click on Test. Browser will open with your webdynpro screens.
External candidates screens can be accessed in the same package
For recruiter & administrator screens, go to package PAOC_RCF_WD_UI.
As mentioned earlier, Portal is a MUST for Ehp4.
Please look through the IMG once to check if there any specific steps. Most of the steps are relevant if you choose to have webdynpro UI on different servers.
I am not aware of the direct conversion from BSP to webdynpro. I remember seeing something in the IMG sometime. Please check there once.
Else if it is extensive code changes then they will have to be redone in webdynpro

when reading your question i asked the following question: what do you expect to achieve by integrating fuctionality which is meant to be called by an external candidate (someone sitting 1000 miles away from your company at home) into your corporate portal? The external candidate has no access to the portal, so why add them? He has to call the applications directly via links sended to him or through links on you career web side.
Technically you might face the problem that all applications for external candidates use the web user for authorization that means they use the ALIAS not the user for logging in, that's why you should always set your user name as ALIAS in SU01 for testing purposes on your development system, This makes life much easier during rollout.

BSP, Webdynpro, Java - Pros / Cons

In the past I made programs using BSP and ABAP. I read a lot of webdynpros and know about the advantages comparing to BSP. But are there also disadvantes?
And what's about the Java technology? I read a lot about the Java technology using SAP. But now a customer asked me to explain why he should use Netweaver with the J2EE-engine.
Is it possible to give me some pros and cons for
a) Java
b) Webdynpro
comparing to the development of BSP-pages with ABAP(Objects)?

First of all another major "difference" between Webdynpro and BSP/JSP beside the UI control is the fact that Webdynpro is always stateful. BSP/JSP have the advantage of being able to program stateful/stateless (or switch between the two). Stateless applications can be very useful when creating internet facing highly scalable applications. However when creating business transactions for a smaller group of users, stateful is acceptable.
Now to ABAP vs. Java. One real world advantage that ABAP has over Java currently is that nearly all the backend business data and logic is contained on the ABAP side of the world. Although you can access this logic and data with Java, ABAP obviously has an easier time doing so. Look at ABAP WebDynpro for instance. If you are creating a WDA component on ECC 6.0 you excellent built in functionality for Value Help. You also can just use Open SQL in your Model Class and avoid any complications that might come from Adaptive RFC. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with the Java tools. Adaptive RFC is actually quite impressive. However ABAP has the simple advantage of being closer to the application data/logic. Although SAP is working hard to bring the java Development and Transport environment up to the same level as the ABAP world, it is hard to ignore the close relationship between ABAP and the underlying Busines Logic. ESA enablement will help fill that gap in the future, but can't close it all together.
However none of the gaps that I discussed are insurmountable. I think the final decision does come back to what programming language are you and your group most comfortable working in and supporting. In the long term you will create better applications by leveraging the skills sets that you have than trying to force yourself into a environment that you/your group isn't comfortable with.

E-Recruiting EHP4 WebDynpro link for create internal application and portal

we have installed ehp4 with web Dynpro and I am searching the link for creating an *internal* application.
The external Aplication I found in the se80 ERC_C_APPL_MGMT_UI. But this link is only for external applications.
The other Links I try to find is for the portal. I need it in the ESS and the MSS.
I didn't find them in the package PAOC_RCF_UI_SELF_SERVICES.

For creating manual internal and external applications, the WebDynpro application is the same - ERC_A_APPL_MGMT. The component is the same ERC_C_APPL_MGMT_UI as you have said in your e-mail. In this component you can also check the view V_APPL_DATA and see that both fields for internal and external are available. The fields are determined at runtime based on whether you have selected 'Internal' or 'External' link in the portal. In the recruiter portal role, when configuring the pages for internal or external you use Application Parameter IS_INTERNAL. If IS_INTERNAL=X then this parameter will be passed to the component mentioned above and the system will know that it should display internal candidate fields. If IS_INTERNAL=' ' then system will display for external and this is the default.
You can click package PAOC_RCF_WD_UI > Web Dynpro > Web Dynpro Applicat and right click ERC_A_APPL_MGMT to test. When the page opens, you can add parameter &IS_INTERNAL=X to the URL and you will see it will change to internal application page.

Problem with E-Recruiting BSP access

Hi,
I'm getting an error that's been mentioned before on some threads, but I don't see any solution.
I'm configuring a fresh E-Recruiting 6 system on the same box as HCM. (So note in T77S0, I've left the RECFA/HRRFC switch blank).
I've set up a Recruiter user assigned to the standard Recruiter security roles.
I try to log in as the Recruiter user using this generated URL:
http://iwdfvm2160.gcsap.com:51080/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hrrcf_start_int?sap-client=200&sap-language=EN&rcfSpId=0003
On the logon screen, I first get a message "No switch to HTTPS has occurred".
Then after I login, I get the error message "An internal error occurred. Please try again later."
Note that I haven't configured any start pages or contexts. Just trying to get to the default out-of-box initial screen for the Recruiter.

E Recruitment BSP Application

Hi
A Smartform is opened in a BSP Page in Erecruitment module. In Smartform there is Structure defined in Form Interface'Posting type RCF_S_CS_DI_POSTING' in the main Window of Smartform. The variable POSTING-OVERVIEW_APPL_URL contains the URL.
When I am running the BSP page in one particular Client it runs fine the smart form is displayed as BSP page, the Main Window displays the data in the Posting URL variable, but while running in diferent client there is no value in URL even though data is present in tha client.
I probably feel the answer lies in BSP application, but dont know how to correct and locate the same.
Kindly provide with suitable inputs.

Hello Luciano,
the method you are looking for is probably ON_CONTAINER_NAVIGATION in the interface IF_HRRCF_NV_CTRL_CALLS of the controller classes. Within these method checks and implicit data change could be done. If there are several controllers used for a container sequence item the main controller has to delegate to all active subcontrollers.
But please be aware. The implicit save of data entered within the screens of requisition and posting maintenance has not be implemented because of technical application restrictions. Many of our customers have required that sap adds this function to e-recruiting, as it also works for the application wizard. SAP simply could ot change this. This has to do with the status management of objects. It works for the application wizard as candidacy and application are always in draft when it is processed. The requisition can have different status when the requisition maintenance is processed and changes automatically set the status back to planned. This again leads to problems with functions like republishing of posting instances.
If you really want such kind of functionality you should check if going for EhP4 might be the better option for you. The requisition creation for recruiters can sav automatically in the new WebDynporo UI.

every time i try to test the BSP's I see variuos error messages...

E-Recruiting - BSP application - How to clear buffer?

Hi,
Im debugging one of BSP application (I set an external break point at method of model class).
Very first time program flow stops at break point but after that it is not stopping there b/c records being fetched from buffer. May I know how to clear the buffer?

Well,
E-Recruiting Infotypes are buffered within the application as internal tables.
The buffer is filled, when first time opening an subapplication. It's also filled, when those infotype records have not been read before.
Refreshing the buffer is only triggered by the application. This is done by "Refresh"-Buttons or Buttons like "Start selection".
You cannot refresh it yourself, while debugging. It's a global event called by button events.

If you want to integrate the BSP application and want to know how this application is generated, then you can have a look over the Report rcf_generate_url, This generates the URL for Recruiter, Candidate etc.
otherwise If you want to see which application is running then you have to check with the application starting with HRRCF.

E-Recruiting EHP4 WebDynpro Abap theme theme_url

Hallo there,
as I read in other threads I copied the standard theme to a custom theme and set the parameter theme_url in spro to my custom theme path.
But it won't work directly. If I'm doing URL-Escaping sap-theme = <custom-path> it works fine, but I want it directly with the path as I've done it before in ehp1 and the bspthemeroot.
Can anyone help me?

unfortunately for web dynpro there is currently no similar solution for globally setting the style as it was in bsp with the themeroot table.
The SPRO customizing for setting the theme link you found just effects "indirect called" web dynpro applications. If you link an e-recruiting web dynpro application to your company career page you have to add the url parameter mentioned in a post above otherwise you will always get the standard theme. If this application calls another one it uses the customized theme by automatically including it in the called url. So usually you include the links for startpage and unregistered search on your webpage where you have to add the theme parameter in the link. When these applications start the application wizard they take the theme from customizing.
When it comes to web dynpro for recruitiers, admins and managers with EhP4, everything runs within portal where you usually use the portal style handling which hands down the general portal style to all applications for the consistent look and feel.
