Hi Gary,
The E-Recruitment package is completely separate from ESS. While the standard ESS package contains an area (Career and Job) that can point to E-Recruitment functionality, it does not include this functionality by itself.
To answer your question, neither ESS nor E-Recruitment necessarily need each other to be there first, but because of the advantages of running SAP products together, it would be most efficient to have your HCM implementation (with or without ESS) up first before implementing E-Recruitment in order to maximize your efficiency of people data management.

Hi,
I am part of a SAP HR Implementation (my SAP ERP 2004). Without going for Enterprise Portal, how do we go about implementing SAP ESS on ITS. Is there any alternative to SAP EP for developing a Web FrontEnd (GUI) for ESS?

Thanks Raja. I have got some more concerns.
There are licensed ESS users which have to be mapped to the SAP R/3 User Licenses. In case of Enterprise Portal, We use predefined Business Packages that has got all the standard functionalities that SAP ESS has got. Additionally we can develop Portal Content as per the client requirements. But in case we are goin for ESS without EP, lot of authentification and authorization work has to be done.
Could someone also provide me with a case study of a ESS Implementation on the ITS Server using mySAP ERP.
It is also important to note that ESS licenses are required for all the employees of an organisation. (Say 10000 in my case) whereas SAP User licenses are limited. (Say 300 in my case).
Please share your inputs.

E-recruitment as part of ESS/MSS

Dear Experts.
II have the following doubt with the service of Career and Job that call applications of E-RC.
The standard ESS package only provides steps to setup the original BSPs - for the following applications:
· Candidate Profile
· Data Overview
· Profile Release
· Apply directly
· Search for jobs
· Favorites
· Applications
· Personal settings
However I want call the applications of E-RC that work with WD ABAP. The problem is that I don't know What is the name of the applications WD for the services of above, for include this applications in the Role de ESS.
Can you please help me for solve my issue.?

I think equivalent E-recruitment WDA applications are also visible in SICF under the following path
/default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/hrrcf*
/default_host/sap/bc/bsp/sap/hrrcf_wd*
If you do a test service the URL will be displayed in the browser address field
As I understand it SAP have not delivered ESS Career and Job workset for use with new EHP WD ABAP E-recruitment applications however it should be possible to integrate WDA applications into the ESS role -anywhere really either via custom iviews/pages or just custom HpF service links or indeed maybe even using the same Career and Job workset and service links (altered to point to WD ABAP URLs)

Can U Plz Let Me Know whether a User can Have an ESS User ID but no R/3 ID and in Such a Scenario how would the integration happen between ESS and R/3.Also in Such a Scenarios What Would be the Effect on ESS Licences and R/3 Licences.

Punam, yes, you could manage Portal's Users by using windows users (i mean from Active Directory) or even maintain directly in Portal (Portal Users).
But, in order to work with information from your ERP about an employee, you need to do any mapping with SAP.
You could do a mapping against SAP with a different user that your Portal user (i mean with different name), by storing the user ID for the ABAP backend system in the user properties.

Also, i suggest you talk with your Basis the possibility of mappping multiple users to one (i never test this workaround, so be carefully in the tests), but also you must talk with your SAP Agent to ensure you're using the correct number and type of licenses.

F4 help key is not working in all iviews in ESS in Portal.When i try to press it nothing happens and no pop up appears,kindly please suggest wt might be the cause of this error? This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.

I have just installed EP6.0 SP2 on J2EE 6.2. I have R/3 systems 4.6C and 4.7. Which versions of the iviewstudio business packages for ESS and MSS should I install?

If you have access to sdn, you can check the Portal Content Portfolio (from SDN home), --> Search Content Portfolio (on right pane/nav) and you will get the People Centric Search screen.
Within the search criteria's you can choose by selecting Business Package, or globally search by EP 6.0.

ESS/MSS depends on your ECC patch also. You need to download versions compatible to ECC and Portal versions.

Inconsistencies when EP Accessing ESS through ITS

Hi,
I have a standard system of EP6 accessing ESS applications through ITS. When I access some of the iviews, they work fine both from client PCs as well as from the server.
But, when I access some of the pages (say SAP Inbox), it works only from server. It does not get displayed when I try to access from client PCs.
I have checked that the R3 transaction type and the service files within ITS are identical for both scenarios.
Any idea what might cause this issue.

Hello,
You can poublish the templates from your R/3 system.
1) You need to setup your IACOR service on your ITS.
2) You need to configure your ITS destination in R/3 using Tcode SE80 -> Click "Utilities -> Settings" Once the popup box come up click the Internet Transcation Server tab and click "Publish" choose your ITS that you defined in the IACOR setup and click the green check mark.
3) From Se38 run "W3_PUBLISH_SERVICES" Enter an "*" for package and run the program. Once the system returns click"Publish"
You should now have all of the SAP provided ESS templates.

Roles for ESS and MSS Enhancement Package 4 (EHp4)

I have the following doub with the role assignment for ESS .
I know that exist the following roles for ESS :
SAP_ESSUSER: Single role that comprises all non-country-specific fucntions. Only relevant for the olders ESS functionality, including all ITS component, such as PZ02(Address), PZ13(Personnel Data), PZ03(Bank Details).
SAP_ESSUSER_ERP05: Single role that comprises all non-country-specific fucntions. Relevant for the ERP2005 platform, Enhancement Package 1 and 2.
SAP_ESSUSER_ERP13: Composite role that comprises all non-country-specific functions. Relevant for the ERP2005 platform, Enhancement Package 3.
SAP_ESSUSER_ERP05_xx: Single role that comprises all non-country-specific fucntions. A separate role exist for each country version(xx = Country ID). The role corresponding composite role is SAP_ESSUSER_ERP05. Relevant for the ERP2005 platform, Enhancement Package 1 and 2.
The Question is:
I am working with Enhancement Package 4 EhP4, What is the role that I have that use????

Hi! The specific ESS Role for EHP4 is called SAP_ESSUSER_ERP_14.
Due to an error, the Role was not delivered in SAP ECC 604, but it will be available in the Support Package 05 for EHP4. You can hope to implement the SP or go for manual corrections from Note [1373177|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1373177].
1229232 and 1129412 notes are relevant for EHP3 only.
Refered to MSS you're right.

Now, I'd like to move the script between --- Start --- and --- End --- comments, to the separate package. When I do that, I've got many reference errors.
Would anybody be able to show me, how the code should look like, when it's in separate package, with all the references to variables that work? And how to call this function from Main class?

Oh, if this is an exercise too, here is one of approaches
So, conceptually in the original code init method does two things:
1. Configures stage
2. Draws rectangle.
If we want to move these two functions outside the Main class, we will need to create at least two classes.
But, first, we need to organize our objects into packages. We need to create a directory tree.
1. create directory with the name com
2. inside com create directory named mydomain
3. inside domain we start branching:
Stage configurator is more like a utility class - let's make util subfolder of domain
Background belongs to graphics - let's create subfolder graphics in domain.
So, our final tree is:
com/domain/graphics
                  /utils
In utils folder we create StageConfig.as - we will move functionality related to stage configuration here
In graphics folder we create Rectangle.as - we will move functionality related to drawing rectangle here
These classes can be something like this:
