E Series and Skyfire web browser

I have tested a couple of phones with flash video sites like veoh.com.  I had the chance to test  E66 with skyfire. The installation of Skyfire was quick and easy.   Just go to skyfire.com using your phone's regular web browser  and pick up  Skyfire 1.5 for Nokia /Symbian and you will be redirected to Nokia's Ovi.
After a few clicks the skyfire was set up and running. Voila! All videos of veoh were playing perfectly. No crashes and  no more  the message you need the latest flash!!!
However, what I have heard and read not all Nokia phones work well or at all with skyfire web browser. For my C5-00 it's impossible to install the skyfire browser despite the fact that :
Skyfire is now available for Nokia Series 60, 3rd & 5th Edition mobiles via the Ovi Store!
http://store.ovi.com/content/2178?lang=en
Perhaps it's a good idea to share  your experiences with other Nokia phones (E Series here)
how they are capable of handling flash video sites. There is huge amount of great video and movie sites available on the net. If Skyfire can help you watch your favorit movies or tv-shows it's definetely worth trying.  Unfortunately I can't say if veoh.com works does it mean that all flash sites works too. One more site which came to my mind is hulu.com
And naturally the father of all flash site is adobe.com.
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/
How funny: there is no mention how to get flash for your Symbian phones. Now when Nokia has got a new flash specialist in their team from Canada, perhaps he can solve the flash puzzle with Adobe and add instructions to Adobe Support page. It's not up to us customers to solve these things.
But as it looks the Nokia bosses are too busy, we customers must go on with testing..
Btw, The  spell checker does not know words Nokia, Symbian.... Does it learn anything...hardly
A tip for Skyfire users: Click the navi button of your phone twice to zoom in
(the button in the middle of the phone)

worth reading it thanks man!

  • Cookies and JFrame Web Browser

    Hello,
Currently I'm trying to analyze of making a java web browser. I have found several versions of code that enable JFrame of Java to be a web browser, some even go as far as having a back anf forth feature and history. The only thing I cannot find is how to save and use cookies. While I found some things that allow code to save cookies, I need some help in implementing into the web browser. The web browser currently works but if I try something that require a cookie, like logging into gmail, it will tell that I need to have cookies enable (likely to be capable to take cookies and then use them).
Does anyone know a way to do that? Or know what direction to look?

    Anyone?

  • J2me and bluetooth: web browser

    Hi,
I'm trying to develop a midlet which works like a common web browser. The idea is:
-the midlet establishs a connection with the server using a RFCOMM connection
-the server acts like a bridge to get some simple html sites over a normal socket conenction and transfer them to the client through the serial port connectio
-the client through the browser midlet makes parsing operations
The problem is that I'm not sure how to get these html files (server side) e send them to the client
Maybe with a stream of data...
Have you ever seen something similar... so I can get inspiration?
    Thank you very much

Can somebody at least post what experiences they've had with certain phones when writing j2me programs for them?
    Thanks

  • Oracle Wireless / WDK and Opera web browser

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to access a XHTML-MP application, delivered by the Oracle WDK (10.1.2.0), from an Opera web browser 6.31 (on a Sony Ericsson P800 phone). Unfortunatly that browser does not seem to be well supported: tables are not well rendered.
Does anyone there experienced such configuration and is there a way to upgrade the WDK since Opera seems to be supported by the MCS/Oracle Wireless Server (full version)?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Fabrice.

    Fabrice,
Please let us know if you still need help w/ this post.
    Thank you.

  • Open PDF in full Reader and not web browser

    Hi
I am currently designing an internal help page with PDF forms - Is there anyway to open a pdf web page link in Internet explorer and open the PDF in the full Adobe x reader and not the internet browser version from inside the form itself?
    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Hi Andy,
Try to turn off the below mentioned feature from Reader and Acrobat (If both on your computer)
    Edit > Preferences
    Click Internet Category
Uncheck " Display PDF in Browser "
Let me know if that helps.

  • C5-00 and skyfire phone browser 1.5

Skyfire can't be installed on  C5-00 for an unknown reason:
    Nokia ovi store says:
Sorry, this item is not available for the Nokia C5-00.
Browse more great content in the "Related" section below.
    Skyfire Free Mobile Browser
    Skyfire.com says:
    http://www.skyfire.com/support/support-skyfire-1-5/
Skyfire requires a Nokia S60 3rd edition phone with 240×320 (QVGA) screen resolution or a Nokia S60 5th edition phone (e.g. touchscreen) with 640×360 screen resolution.
Verified devices link does not work there

What is the reason skyfire is not available for C5-00 but is available for E71:
    From Nokia.com product specs:

That version of Skyfire works well on C5-00 phone!!
The Skyfire 1.5 works  until the end of this year!! Hope Nokia can release  a new version of its default mobile browser with flash support by the end of this year. Otherwise Nokia risks  losing far too many customers. Without a proper flash mobile browser like Skyfire, many Nokia phone users have to look for a phone from other manufacturers.
Skyfire service 1.X  uses proxy servers like Opera does.  Skyfire servers are located in the U.S. That probably means that via Skyfire servers it's possible to watch content not available otherwise. For example, the MIITV found via the Skyfire service works great.
It's possible to watch Bloomber,  4KNBC, SkyNews, HSN, C-Span, NASATV, Eurosport. LAX...
The bloomberg TV starts automatically. (it's the default option)  I did not try those other channels.  Also the videos of Veoh.com played well. And justin.tv Just perfectly!!
http://www.skyfire.com/press/blog/72-retirementNote: Skyfire 1.0 and 1.5 will remain available as a free service in the following countries after July 1st: United States, U.K., Canada, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Korea and Taiwan.

  • Can skyfire web browser be used using 3G?

I want to watch flash videos and play games in my iPad!

    Hi Ben,
Skyfire supports Flash video, but does not support interative Flash games or Flash apps.
Skyfire does work over 3G as well as 4G and WiFi.

  • Problems with Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access and any web browser

My university e-mail goes through Microsoft Office Outlook and I access it through the Web Access.
I have tried with 3 browsers (Chromium, Firefox and Gnome's Web, and with all of them I am getting the same problems.
Basically, once I log in, the css seems to be screwed sometimes (not always). I click in a e-mail to read it, and it does nothing (not always), I write an e-mail, click send, and it gives me a white screen error (not always), and then it is not even saved as draft.
I have this errors like 70% of the time, or more, which means that every time I want just to read an e-mail, I spend 5 minutes reloading the website, singing out, clearing cookies,... until eventually all seems to load correctly.
No idea how I can fix this, or how I can get this to work.
    thank you!

The light version is set by default, and I cannot choose the non-light.
I assume it makes some kind of "webbrower check id", and mine sends whatever linux like id, which the server doesn't recognize, and it screwes me

  • How to set default file browser and web browser

I am using openbox as the window manager and don't have a desktop environment.
My file browser is pcmam file manager and my web browser is chromium.
    I add
    export BROWSER=/usr/bin/pcmanfm
in .bashrc so that the system uses pcman file manager to open a local file from an external application. But it will also uses pcman file manager to open a url. I want the url opened in chromium, but chromium doesn't let me set the default web browser (as the picture shows blow).:(
    What shall deal with it?
    Thank you.

    ashesxera: Thanks for the pointers!
After some hours of persistent puzzling I finally figured out how to make Thunderbird/Lanikai open URIs in Chromium instead of Firefox in the XFCE desktop environment.
In fact I found two solutions that both work.
    1) The straightforward solution: make some changes to Thunderbird/Lanikai's prefs.js
    Add two string variables:
    string: network.protocol-handler.app.ftp; value: exo-open
    string: network.protocol-handler.app.http; value: exo-open
    string: network.protocol-handler.app.https; value: exo-open
and importantly: change the values of the Boolean variables network.protocol-handler.warn-external.ftp network.protocol-handler.warn-external.http and network.protocol-handler.warn-external.https to 'true'.
It turns out that for some unclear reason the standard Arch Linux Thunderbird/Lanikai package uses gnome-open to open URLs. The persistent popping up of Firefox was caused by some settings in .gconf that come with the gconfd package. I didn't find these values in gconf-editor.
    2) Change xml files in .gconf
As I don't want to use Firefox as standard browser any longer, I wanted to get rid of these hidden settings in .gconfd so that "gnome-open [URI]" opens a webpage in Chromium.
I succeeded in getting there by replacing firefox with chromium in the following files:
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/applications/browser/%gconf.xml
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/chrome/%gconf.xml
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp/%gconf.xml
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/%gconf.xml
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/https/%gconf.xml
    .gconf/desktop/gnome/url-handlers//%gconf.xml

  • Email and web browser MHP 1.0

    Hi all,
Has anybody implemented and email client and a web browser for MHP 1.0.2?
Are there open source tools to help me on the implementation on these applications, like a Jave email client and a Java web browser that I can convert easily to MHP?
What Java classes I need to use to implement the email and browser?
Does any STB in the market support MHP 1.1?
I want to hear your opinions...
    Thanks in advance,
    Jordi (Barcelona)

    Dear Jordi
We have created a java browser that runs very well in mhp, and you can run a webmail service on it as will. You can get a 2 months free evaluation version. Please see www.nordcom.dk for details on how to get the evaluation version.

  • Brand new Yoga 2 11 - Super slow web browsing

We got a new Yoga 2 11 this morning, and the web browsing is excruciatingly slow, whether using IE, FireFox or Chrome.  The only downloads or installs of any kind have been IE & FF.
Based on searching this forum, I increased the minimum processor power to 65%, but that was only an incremental improvement.  Some page loads are still taking over a kminute, and an attempt to proceed with a page that isn;t full loaded (i.e. a login), just crashes everything.  I ran SpeedTest, and the download and upload speeds are all 3x that of my work machine (a Latitude that is about three years old)...but the Latitude has "normal" load times.
The only other observation I have is that it seemed better behaved before the Windows updates were applied, but there was maybe only 15 minutes of use there, not enough to reliably establish a baseline.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I might be missing?  This might be going right back to the store, as it's not really an inprovement over the 3 yr old Asus netbook, which is less powerful than most phones...

Well in general, Ideapad computers have driver issuess.
If you like we can try teamviewer and try to fix your issue.
Teamviewer does not need to be installed. It will give me temporary access into your computer to fix the issue. When the issue is fixed, simply delete the program. Anyhow, once you close the program, the password is reset and the ID blocked until next launch. I also figured a 1 day old computer has nothing important on it. So if you like, I can try to eliminate the hassle for you and try to fix the computer.
Should you feel uncomfortable with anything, you can close the program at any time.
Based on the speed test, I doubt it is an internet problem. I am thinking software problems.

  • Issues showing PDF files in web-browser (Windows 7 x64, 32-bit version of AdobeReader X)

I'm not sure if this is the right way to share my experience, but at least I know Google will discover this thread eventually and maybe someone else will find what I have been looking for the past 3 hours
I'm deploying the 32-bit based AdobeReader X (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4950) to Windows7 32-bit and 64-bit based machines. This is a MSI deployement done through our Active Directory. Everything goes well - no errors. Except for the x64-based machines having trouble showing PDF-files in the web-browser.
I used Adobe Customization Wizard X to customize our MSI installation - this showed out to be the solution once again.
Common for the installation on Windows7 32-/64-bit were that the value in the registry database for HKCR\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe (Default) was set to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe". This is valid for the 32-bit installation as Program Files is situated in C:\Program Files, but since it's a 32-bit edition of AdobeReader that I'm installing on the 64-bit based system as well, it's installed in C:\Program Files (x86) and the reference in the registry database to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" is therefore not valid - which explains why PDF files could not be displayed in the web browser. Changing the registry to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" solved it. Now this is a manual solution which might be useful on 1-2 machines but on a bigger scale it's not the right way to do it.
I could change it with a batch/vbs script but still this is only a solution of the symptom and not a solution to the core issue. I therefore focused on Adobe Customization Wizard X again.
The problem was easily solved. I opened the MSI file, loaded the transform file that I've made previously. Went to Registry > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe . I then changed the (Default) value from "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to "[INSTALLDIR]Reader\AcroRd32.exe", generated the MST file and replaced my current one for distribution. Problem solved! :-) The entry in the registry now shows : "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" and PDF files are open without any issues.
I hope someone can save a bit of time on this one.
    Best regards!
    Alex Mikkelsen

I was able install and view the files in adobe reader 10.1.1 and in web browser window 7 64 bit machine.  But when I go to Edit-preferences-internet and  unchecking "display PDF in Browser" , I am not able to view the pdf files in ie 9 browser.  I have used this javscript to check for pdf version.
    Immediately after installing adobe--
when I do adobe test in ie 9---https://courses.worldcampus.psu.edu/public/diagnostics/Acrobat.html--  launches a test pdf file--Acro_Test.pdf
