E-Sourcing Reporting

Hi All,
mu understanding is that E-Sourcing comes with its own reporting capability, I have a couple of questions relating to this that hopefully someone can answer.
1. Where does the data for the reports come from? i.e. does it pick up spend analysis from SRM and ERP?
2. Can the data from E-Sourcing be extracted to BW so that all data from SRM, E-Sourcing and ERP is in one place?
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris
Answers to your questions
1) Operational data from Backend systems (SRM or ERP or non-SAP backend) is required to run some of the reports in Spend Analysis in SAP E-Sourcing, the consulting note 111567 has more details on what types of operational/transactional data is available in the standard set of interfaces delivered vide the consulting note, the consulting note is availed only if you have the on-premise or hosted licenses. On its own SAP E-Sourcing can provide you reports that require only data from within its tables (specifically for Projects, RFx and Contracts(limted to MSA and legal contracts)
Please look into your RG guide me for a standard list of reports available in SAP E-Sourcing 5., i'd be able to assist you
But for spend analysis, these are some of the reports
-Cumulative Spend by Commodity
- Spend by Commodity overtime
the list is huge......
2) Yes the data can be extracted from SAP E-Sourcing in excel, CSV and can be pushed to BW to ensure that Reports niche to the organization are developed if not covered by standard procurement reports in BW.
Hope this answer was useful

  • How to Write Log Message in a XML Data Source Report

    Hi Friends,
    Can anyone help me out what is the process of writing a log file in the XML Data Source Report. for eg: in Plsql we use FND_LOG.PUT_LINE to print the Log message in the Concurrent Request Output. in the similar manner, when we develop a report using XML, where we write Coding in XQuery of XML, what is the process need to follow to print the logs for the XQuery.
    Any inputs/Suggestion on this Highly appreciable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Create an RMI application (for example) that writes the log, and let all logging calls call that remote application.
    Something like that is the only feasible way that doesn't require you to have a drive on the remote machine mapped to the local one (which causes its own problems as you could have multiple simultaneous write attempts...).

    Hi Soniya,
    These are the steps:
    1. Log in into infoview
    2. Change the preferences (Click in the Preference button in the main tool bar), in the WebIntelligence section change the Select a default view format: to Interactive.
    3. Click OK
    4. Open the report where you want to add the hyperlink
    5. Right click in the column or cell to add the hyperlink
    6. Click Hypelink > New
    7. You will see the Create Hypelink window, click Browse the select which report do you want to link
    8. Fill in the parameter, prompts, etc.
    and that's it, hope it's clear now. If you have any question let me know.

  • Changing .UNX Sourced report to .UNV Source

    Hello-
    Version - 4.1 SP3
    I know that this could not be an ususal scenario but, In process of validation I am running into this.
    I need to change .UNX sourced webi report to .UNV, using the wizard only .UNX universes are listed while doing this.
    PS: I can see all the universes listed while changing .UNV sourced report.
    We do not have all access in CMC, I am trying to find if it is access issue or Limitation or feature of BO 4.1 SP3.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ravi,
    I did not find any documentation on this but this is not possible and is a by-design behavior.
    Unx has many features that are not there in unv so converting it to unv would not make sense.
    Also unx has three layers whereas unv has one. So unv would likely get converted to unx but not vice versa.
    Hope this helps.

  • Increase performance in a multiple data source report

    Hi everybody.
    I have a big problem, when i make a report that have multiple data sources the performance decrease considerably, i still don't know the reason. Is it true that using multiple data sources is too slow?.
    I tell you a fact: I made the report connecting via "Field Definition File", and it take at least 2 minutes to show itself but it only have 170 records, and i'm very sure that the sql statements to each data source were executed very faster.
    I even heard about index, but i think they only are useful when i connect directly to the database.
    All my partner told me, that Cristal Report

    Thanks you, but I explain better what i was doing.
    I've made a report called "Kardex de Producto" which show the behavior of the products according to its sales, purchases.
    The end result which is showed by the report is correct. I used three data source in the report, so links between each table is correct. The only problem i have is the performance because i still don't know why is too slow. In fact the sql statement is very heavy, but i think it doesn't matter to the report because when it takes the data from the database (connecting via Field Definition File) even if the very heavy sql statement returns twenty record Cristal Report must show itself very quickly. I don't want to believe that Cristal Report is very slow when it works with multiple data sources.
    Do you mind if i give you my report? if not please leave me your email address.

    Having tried CF Report Builder several months ago and quit .

  • Web Service data source report causes Java memory leak

    Crystal Report designer fails to preview a report whose data source is a WSDL web service.  This happens when the Java run time process has exceeded the memory limit specified in the CRConfig.xml file.  The Java memory is never released by Crystal Reports until the Crystal Reports Designer is closed.  Version is Crystal reports 2008 (product version 12.2.4.507).
    This error also occurs in the Crystal Reports Viewer when used in a Microsoft .NET application (framework 3.5) referencing CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll v12.0.2000.0, CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.Framework.dll v12.0.1100.0, CrystalDecisions.Enterprise.InfoStore.dll v12.0.1100.0, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll v12.0.2000.0, CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll v12.0.2000.0
    I load the ReportDocument object based on the location of the .rpt file and then set the ReportSource object of the CrystalReportViewer control:
    string FullReportName = "TestFile.rpt";
    ReportDocument reportDoc = new ReportDocument();
    reportDoc.Load(FullReportName, OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy);
    this.crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportDoc;
    reportDoc.Close();
    reportDoc.Dispose();
    GC.Collect();
    The code displays the report in the report viewer.  However, every time the report is refreshed the Java runtime memory increases until the application cannot display the results.  The error messages are "Failed to retrieve data from the database." followed by "Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report. Details: Unexpected error".  If you try to refresh the data once again the following errors occur: "Failed to retrieve data from the database." then "Cannot determine the queries necessary to get data for this report. Details: Schema file is invalid   Java heap space".
    Increasing the java heap space in the CRConfig.xml file merely prolongues the onset of this error.
    Is there a service pack or hot fix for this???
    PLEASE HELP.

    Many thanks for your help.  This solved the issue for our .NET code, however the leak is still present in the report designer.  I was also wondering if you could help further: because of the limits on the java memory process is there a way to ensure that a separate java process is started for each report that is loaded in my report viewers collection?  Essentially the desktop application that i have created uses a tab control to display each type report, so each tab goes through the following code when displaying a report and closing a tab:
    Is there a way to ensure that a different Java process is kicked off each time that I display a different report?  My current code in c# always uses the same Java process so the memory ramps up.  The code to load the report and then dispose of the report through closing the tab (and now the Java process) looks like this:
        private void LoadCrystalReport(string FullReportName)
          ReportDocument reportDoc = new ReportDocument();
          reportDoc.Load(FullReportName, OpenReportMethod.OpenReportByTempCopy);
          this.crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = reportDoc;
        private void DisposeCrystalReportObject()
          if (crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource != null)
            ReportDocument report = (ReportDocument)crystalReportViewer1.ReportSource;
            foreach (Table table in report.Database.Tables)
              table.Dispose();
            report.Database.Dispose();
            report.Close();
            report.Dispose();
            GC.Collect();
    Thanks

  • Error in Custom E-Sourcing Report

    Dear all,
    I would appreciate your inputs or sugggestions on an error I am receiving with a custom RFx Document Report. I get the error 'invalid column index' when I run the query in the preview mode or from the document.
    Details of the Report:
    We have a custom extension definition on the Rfx, which I am trying to query.
    This is the query:
    SELECT <%RESULTS%> FROM <%SCHEMA%>.FCI_RFX_DOC T1, <%EXT_TABLE(rfx.RFXDoc,CustomExtensionName)%> T2
    WHERE T1.CONTEXTID = <%CONTEXT(rfx.RFXDoc)%> AND T2.PARENT_OBJECT_ID = T1.OBJECTID
    It evaluates to:
    SELECT T2.Ext_Field1, T2.Ext_Field2 FROM esource.FCI_RFX_DOC T1, esource.FCI_DYN_$2147483347 T2 WHERE T1.CONTEXTID = -2147483548 AND T2.PARENT_OBJECT_ID = T1.OBJECTID
    Could you please let me know if you are able to identify the source of this error.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Reshma Varghese

    Would suggest to run this SQL in SQL editor to verify if it is really an index issue on the column/table:
    SELECT T2.Ext_Field1, T2.Ext_Field2 FROM esource.FCI_RFX_DOC T1, esource.FCI_DYN_$2147483347 T2 WHERE T1.CONTEXTID = -2147483548 AND T2.PARENT_OBJECT_ID = T1.OBJECTID
    Also, if you still cannot proceed further pls. try this an check if it works:
    SELECT T2.Ext_Field1, T2.Ext_Field2 FROM esource.FCI_RFX_DOC T1, esource.FCI_DYN_$2147483347 T2 WHERE T2.PARENT_OBJECT_ID = T1.OBJECTID
    Good Luck

  • Need connectivity performance advice with MS SQL / Oracle Sourced Report

    I have a report requirement to pull data from both Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.  Both are using ODBC data connections.  The report is complicated by the fact that the SQL table "tblmasterboth" is the primary table in the report but both are used in record selection.  The Oracle data source is actually a custom SQL command.
    SELECT date2, SiteAN, Description, CheckNumber, Date, Amount, BankorGL, Text1, fldStatus, Text3
    FROM   tblmasterboth
    WHERE  BankorGL = 'G' AND (Date2 >= {ts '2010-01-01 00:00:00'} AND Date2 < {ts '2010-03-31 00:00:00'})
    select DEPOSIT_COMPANY_GROUP, DEPOSIT_REPORTING_PAYROLL, LIABILITY_PAYROLL_CODE
    from MV_LIBH
    My record selection is as follows:
    {tblmasterboth.BankorGL} = "G"
    and {tblmasterboth.Date2} in {@Quarter Start} to {@Quarter End}
    and {tblmasterboth.SiteAN} = {sql_MTAX.LIABILITY_PAYROLL_CODE}
    and {sql_MTAX.DEPOSIT_COMPANY_GROUP} = {?Deposit Company Group}
    The report runs EXTREMELY slow, with accessing the database freezing up the Crystal Reports Designer to the point where it is not responding for whole minutes.  The hangup appears to be accessing the database.  I know accessing multiple databases in a single report is not ideal, but I am surprised by these performance results.  Is there something else I can do?
    Fuskie
    Who notes the tables are not linked in the Database Expert since the SQL Query produced cannot link them...

    Hi Fuskie,
    A couple of things to note:
    {ts '2010-01-01 00:00:00'} AND Date2 < {ts '2010-03-31 00:00:00'})
    Should be: {ts '2010-01-01 00:00:00'} AND Date2 < {ts '2010-04-01 00:00:00'})
    It's not checking the last day of the month of march
    Second is you have the filter in the both SQL and Selection:
    WHERE  BankorGL = 'G' AND (Date2 >= {ts '2010-01-01 00:00:00'} AND Date2 < {ts '2010-03-31 00:00:00'})
    {tblmasterboth.BankorGL} = "G"
    and {tblmasterboth.Date2} in {@Quarter Start} to {@Quarter End}
    You don't need both.
    Likely what is happening is for ever record in the selection formula returned from MS SQL the query to Oracle runs scanning every record again, yes this is going to be very slow.
    We always recommend using a subreport if another data source is required. You should be able to link to the sub report and filter both.
    You may want to check MS SQL Server help file. I believe it has the ability to link to other databases within the Server itself. May not work for you in this case but something to look into.
    Thank you
    Don

    try with below steps.
    Use the Live Office Object Properties screen to choose the Webi report location and updatre all objects.
    You will receive dialog box: "The new report structure must match the original report structure. Do you want to continue -  select YES
    Next dialog box: "Some other Live Office objects use the same data source. Do you want to update their source to the new document? - Select YES

  • How to Remove a Report Object from a Category Without Deleting It?

    I'm trying to "remove" a report object (in this case a Webi Report) from a Personal Category. However, I've found that when I right-click on the report within the Category and choose "Organize >> Delete", not only does it remove the report from the Category, it also deletes the "source" report from it's original location... not good.  (NOTE: If I try this as a user without rights to delete report objects, I don't even get the "Organize >> Delete" option, as would be expected based on the behavior I'm seeing.)
    Does anyone know if there is a way to "Remove" report objects from Categories without deleting the report from its original location?  The only option I can think of is to simply recreate (copy/paste) the whole category with all of its components (less the undesired report object) and then delete the original Category.

    Hi,
    This is much easier than it looks like, although it's not intuitive.
    For example, when some webi is in a category, categories where the webi is linked are underlined in blue:
    If you click in those blue marked categories and click Accept, you're unlinking the webi/report/dashboard from that category:
