E1200 very slow upload speeds

We just got an e1200 v2 router to replace one that died, and upload speeds are very, very slow. I've tried alot of potential fixes already, without success. Some help would really be appreciated. Thank you very much! (Details below.)
Speeds: Download averages about 30mbs (different time of day, multiple different speed tests, etc...) while upload averages less than 0.3mbs. Upload is about 5mbs if I plug any computer directly into the cable modem. It's definitely the router slowing things down.
Router Configuration: Newest firmware (2.0.05), upnp disabled
Wireless: Network Mode = Mixed, WPA Personal, Channel 11 (tried 1 and 6 also)
Other Steps Taken: reset the router, modem, tried adjusting MTU (in increments) down to 1430

You’ve mentioned that upload speed are slow through the router but not if directly cabled. Did you mean to say the upload speed is ok if you are directly cabled to the router or through the modem? How about try disabling WMM under Applications & Gaming > QoS. Check then if there will be an improvement with the upload speed.

Very slow upload speed via infinity 2 (business) unlimited after phone line fix (street cabinet) ?
Had my line fixed today by engineer (no dial tone).
Download rate near normal but upload = 0.73Mbps!?
I reset modem and router after he left and appreciate my profile is probably in need of some TLC after a weeks line fault, but is this normal in this situation? I heard it can take some time to reprofile my line and before it was fixed it was even worse at 0.10Mbps
Just seems very low considered the line is now operational again.

48Hrs+ on from residential line reconnection my business infinity 2 broadband upload speed is now approaching normal speed levels.
What a 10 days that was all because some ass disturbed the cabling in the street cabinet!
Yes I'm aware I have business broadband and am talking about it in a residential based forum, but my actual phone line is still residential that it is supplied over and the business broadband product is much the same animal as that supplied to residential customers i.e. Infinity 2 Unlimited. Only the mail and option of static i.p. appear different - that is all.
    Jeez.

Then Restore your iPhone Firmware with iTunes on computer. See if better. If not, talk to Verizon and see if they know of the problem and if there is a fix. If not, then make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • Very very slow upload speeds (25/25 service)

I've had FiOS with 25/25 service for some time now, but for the past month or so, the upload speeds have been painfully slow. I ran the Verizon speed test and ended up with sub-1.0 upload speeds, and that's if the upload test completes at all. It starts out reasonably , then seems to stall and eventually dies. As others have reported in earlier threads, other speed tests (Speakeasy and the Java-based Verizon test ,when I could find it) reported better speeds, but nothing close to 25 up (This seems to be common in other reports of slow speed I saw here.). Download speeds are fine, around 31 when I run it wired.
Before people tell me it's my PC, this occurs with my Android phone as well (it timed out trying to email a video), AND with my Sling Solo box (lets me watch TV remotely), which is where I originally noticed the problem - it starts out OK and then times out.
I had been going back and forth with the VerizonSupport person on Twitter and they weren't able to resolve it (they did reset the ONT at one point, I think - wasn't home so I cannot confirm). I called customer service last Thursday and they sent me a new router, but that did not fix the problem.
What's my next step here? What could be causing this? Could it be in the "line"? The ONT? Are there any tests I can run myself other than the speed test? And why do some speed tests run fine but the Verizon one does not?
I can post screen shots of the speed test later if necessary.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So, after getting a new router and finding that did not fix my prob;lem, and being told that they ran a speed test to my ONT from their end and that it was good (so the problem was likely my wiring), my problem went away (back to 31/27 on 25/25 service). The week before I noticed that it had fixed itself,  I stopped to talk to a Verizon repair guy who was on my street fixing someone else's service. The repair guy said that my neighbor claimed that his service was dropping, but the repair guy said he could not find anything and ended up replacing the ONT. He had no idea what my problem was but maybe after I left he figured something out related to the two problems and fixed it. Very strange, but I am very pleased that it's fixed. I had the Verizon Support guys on Twitter look up my neighbor's problem ticket to see if there was something in there to saw what they did, but all they saw was the ONT replacement.
I wish I could say what solved the problem since I know there are other people who have had this problem in the past. I hate it when problems "fix themselves".

  • Fast download but (very) slow upload speed

I know that typically upload speeds are slower than download from most ISP in the US, but I have been doing tests the past few weeks on 3 different Mac's (and iPhone/iPad) and while my download speed is good (between 20 and 30 mbps, my upload speed never really gets past 1mpbs (.95 is about average).
Are there any settings on my Airport Express settings that I can change or look at?  I'm running the latest Lion on two  pretty new machines and Snow Leopard on an older iMac that we have, all with very simiar results.
    Thanks.

One area to try is to change the default (Automatic) setting for the Ethernet WAN Port in the AirPort Utility.
I would suggest trying 1000 Mbps/Full Duplex, and then, 100 Mbps/Full Duplex to see which gives you better results.

I have rebooted the router, reset the router to factory settings and disconnected all devices apart from 1 clean CentOS desktop pc to do the speed test and still get the same results. Could someone please give me details so I can get this investigated properly and soon as it is effecting my work.

Still experiencing unusable upload speeds, can someone please help me with this? Below is todays test.

These speeds, coupled with a ping time of around 300ms has made my broadband worse than useless!!! The Kids are driving me mad as Xbox live and Call of Duty online is just a mere pipe dream the way it is at the moment
Never thought I would say this, but why did I leave talktalk????
What can I do???? Nothing has changed with my internal wiring and all I have done is change the talktalk router for the home hub.

    Hi Martsamps,
20Meg ADSL2+'s Upload speed is rate adaptive unlike the old 8Meg ADSL connections (Which are capped at 448kbps). Looking at your line attenuation, it looks like it won't get any better im afraid. Hopefully someone can confirm this. It could be that the homehub isn't as good on your line as your old TalkTalk router (It's been known to happen).
    Cheers

  • Very Slow Upload Speeds on Infinity

I've been using Infinity for a couple of years now, in the last 2-3 months the upload speed has dropped from a consistant 4 - 6 mbps to an average of 0.3 - 0.5 mbps. The download has also dropped but not so much, we used to get a good 30mbs most of the time and now it's averaging 20 - 25mbps.  I've phoned to see if there's a fault to be told it's an acceptable speed for Infinity and BT cannot and won't ever guarantee a 6 - 8mbs upload speed.  Even though the engineer that installed it a couple of years ago wouldn't leave until he got the 6mbps upload speed and a 35mbs download speed.

Can you run this checker and post back a screen shot of the results
    http://www.dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/adslchecker.welcome
and use this speed tester then carry out the further diagnostics and post back a screen shot of all the results including your IP profile for up and down. This test must be done with a wired connection.

  • WRT310Nv2 very slow upload speeds

So I bought this new router, and am getting the same download speeds as my old one ... which is about 30 mbps thing is on my old lynksys router which was only wired .. I would get 1.6 mbps upload speeds.
Now on my new router I am hooked up through a wired connection and still get the same 30 mbps download speed .. but my upload is only at .34 to .41 mbps .. cant figure out whats causing this.  It has to be the router cause I tested the old one and the same thing again .. 1.6 on the up ... then put back in this one and back to .34 to .41 ...  anyone have any suggestions ?

From how I understand the situation, your old router provides you 30Mbps download and 1.6Mbps while WRT310Nv2 is giving you the same download but 034Mbps-0.41Mbps upload only. Definitely it's the configuration on the router that needs to be checked.
Try to play around with MTU settings on WRT310Nv2. You could try lowering it down at least less than 1495. As much as possible, try to mirror the settings you have on the old router.

  • Very slow upload speed

Hi would like to know how I can get better upload speed on infinity. Current Download 21680 upload 550kbts/s
This has ever since I got infinity installed. Earlier on this year I got bt to check the line the answer from the engineer was that a section of the line is old aluminium cable, will bt replace this to copper or will they just let it be as this must be given more than myself poor upload speeds what if any thing can I do about this.
Was thinking of moving provider but as this would still run on the SHORT portion of aluminium cable I would have the same problem. Or would another provider request bt upgrade this section of cable.

  • Very slow upload speeds

Is anyone else having a problem with upload speeds? I'm on the 15/5 plan, and my downloads are fine (over 14), but my uploads are at less below 2. This hasn't always been the case, but I started running a backup to an offsite server yesterday and the uploads are crawling along.
Verizon's speed test as well as speedtest.net giving the same answer, so it's not the servers on the other end of my backup that are the problem, and I've tested it on all 3 of our computers over both wireless and wired connections with the same results.
I used to get almost the full 5 upload speed. At this rate, the backup will take 3 weeks of 24/7 uploads. Anyone know what gives?

jpbarr, you can send me a private message w/ all your info & I will take a look on our end for you. Thanks Brett

  • E1200 router: very slow download speeds, ok uploady got

I recently set up a new E1200 router to replace my old one. We are having problems with very slow download speeds (often <0.10 Mbps) even while the upload speeds are OK (8-10 Mbps). Our previous download speed over wifi was 10-15 Mbps.
When I first set it up, the download speed was very poor on the initial computer. After fooling around, it was fine. I don't know what I did that made it speed up. However, my wife's computer has had very poor download speeds. After rebooting my computer, the download speed has also dropped bak to <0.10. I was able to stream Hulu on my Wii just fine an hour ago.
    What could the problem be?

So we could have this isolated, check how much speed you’re getting straight to the modem so we’ll have some point of comparison that from your internet provider. If through the router, you have struggles with not getting an acceptable value for download speed especially if it only happens with the wireless connection, you can try these: change the wireless channel and the wireless security on the router. If on the router, you have the channel set to auto by default change it to (3,6,9,11), just have to play around with it. Moreover, for the wireless security, select WPA2 Personal. If that doesn’t make any difference, update the firmware of the router, reset and have it reconfigured.

  • Extreme slow upload speed in Dallas area

    Hello
Something happened to my upload speed last Thursday, it has dropped considerably connecting to most servers making many sites very sluggish. I have the hardest time just attaching a file in Gmail and the gmail chat keeps saying 'unable to connect'. Using FTP for my work is almost impossible. It's takes me 5-10 tries to upload a file that's not even 50KB.
I've called Verizon tech support and went through different diagnostics and then they sent a new router, which still didn't help. Here's what I concluded so far:
    It's not the router
It's not the computer since it happens on every machine
It's not the wiring since I can get good speed test connecting to some servers.
It's not the servers that i'm connecting to; everything works when i'm at work or on the phone.
I have 15/5, I've attached some speed test results.
Verizon's own speed test page even timed our during upload, which was stuck under 0.5 when it was about to finish.
Anyone else experiencing this? Verizon say my issue is currently with the engineers, but I have no idea how long that wait to be.
    Thank you

Is there any Verizon representative that can escalate my issue?
Basically a tech came last Saturday and wasn't able to figure out what was wrong and left and closed my ticket. Whenever I call back now they're just telling me it's my computer, which is completely FALSE. All my 5-6 computer just doesn't happen to have slow upload speed of the sudden and require modification to RWin buffer as the suggested by the on-site tech. Verizon phone support bluntly told me they can't do anything further and would charge me for coming out again to replicate my issue.
Things the tech have already tried:
-Run Fios Optimizer multiple times on multiple computers.
    -Replaced router
    -Replaced ONT
    -Rebooted PON card
Upload speed still sporadic, works perfect on some speedtests, but it's less than 0.5MB on many servers including Verizon's very own local speedtest. Gmail and any google site request is constantly slow. This site is slow and often times out. FTP to my own site is almost impossible if I want to upload a file that's bigger than 100kb.
I'm extremely frustrated.... There are reports of same exact issues in other thread, one seems to be fixed. Is there any way Verizon can look at that and apply it here?
