E1383A VXLink Kit + E1326B multimeter

This question is about HP hardware, but I think that it makes sense asking here since there maybe some NI software available as a solution.
I have an old system composed by an HP E1383A VXI ISA Card Interface (witch I have no drivers for them, and can't find anywhere, for any operating system) and an HP E1326B Multimeter on the same system that I can't have access to it.
I was able, however, to establish some sort of connection with bits and pieces of a program named EPConnect from Radisys (dated 1994) on Windows 98, but it seems that this program and drivers are for Windows 3.11 and I can't see the board any where on the device manager of Windows 98.
I also have found drivers for the multimeter board (HP E1326B) on:
http://www.home.agilent.com/agilent/techSupport.jspx?pid=1000002431%3Aepsg%3Apro&pageMode=DS&cc=US&l...
but, if I can't get access to the ISA Board (HP E1383A), how can I have access to the multimeter functions?
Is there any way that I can resolve this problem?  On any operating system?  How can I have access to the ISA board and the multimeter?
As a last technical detail, I have found that I can communicate with the ISA board through:
ISA Card I/O: 0x4230
VXI Module Port Address Base: 0x8230
IRQ = 10
Using the Radisys software (I can see that the board is really there).
Any help would be very appreciated, and thank you in advance for reading,
Eng. Marco Ferra

Hello Marco,
This is a big one!
Well, what can be done on our side is to provide you with a PCI-VXI or USB-VXI solution because ISA isn't on our catalog no more. This would allow you to control your VXI easily. I wish I could help you more, but there's no solution for your system. It is too hold!
By the way, thanks for posting here your questions (even on non-NI products )
You can call us and ask for direct assistance or advises if you wants to go forward.

  • UT803 Uni-Trend Bench Multimeter Driver

    Hi!
I write this in the edge of desperation for I´m REALLY new to LabView
I´m trying to use the UT803 Uni-Trend bench multimeter for data acquisition in LabView through RS232
I started searching on how to do it, and came to this posts
    in this post:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/Discussions-de-produit-de-NI/Passage-RS232-vers-USB/m-p/1548790
the user says he developed his own IV for the multimeter, I reply the post trying to reach him but he´s not online since like 2008 so I guess he won´t reply soon
So I searched for the driver and found this one
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=5A2A9076B4C65AEBE04400144F1EF8...
which is for the UT804 Multimeter. I tried to use it but I don´t really know how. I just copied it to the <LabVIEW>\instr.lib like they show in here
    http://www.ni.com/devzone/idnet/inetinst.htm
and now I can see the Functions -> Instrument I/O -> Instrument Drivers -> UT804 Multimeter. But when I´m to use it I´m totally lost
Having done that I searched for the driver of the UT803 from the Manufacturer CD like they say in here
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/ut60e/m-p/172930
but there´s no DLL file, so I searched it in their homepage to see it they provided it online
    http://www.uni-trend.com/UT803.html
but still no DLL to use in the driver wizard.
Having done that I looked for how to control the RS232 "Manually" so I looked in these post on how to do it
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/ut60e/m-p/172930
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/Discussions-de-produit-de-NI/Acquisition-de-trames-sur-port-serie/m-p/624378
(This one in Chinese is called) RS-232接電表一直出現錯誤
    but still no clue
I did quite a research, but still I´m a starter so I guess without knowledge I can´t do much.
Can anyone help me? please I really need to get this multimeter to work
    Thank you in advance

By mistake I posted this same message in: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Driver-Development-Kit-DDK/UT803-Uni-Trend-Bench-Multimeter-Driver/m-p/15495...

    HI!
I'll bring back to life this threat (after so long) so someone can help me understand  how to control a device via serial without a driver, or how to program that driver.
I'll start by uploading some files
1- The ut804 driver found in the Developer Zone of NI
2- My attempt to use that driver to control the ut803 (Not working)
3- My attempt to use VISA control (In the Instrument I/O panel) (Also not working)
Now you must be thinking that an attempt using the Serial control in the Instrument I/O panel is missing, but the Test Panel in the Measurement & Automation explorer -> Serial & Parallel (COM4) brings back a timeout in any of the Input/Output commands (write, read query, etc).
Yet I have tested my serial port by shorting the 2nd and 3rd pin of serial port and tried this
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM8a66g2eGo
    And it works!
So I guess... Help! What am I doing wrong?
Why doesn't my Visa control attempt work?
    Can anyone test it?
PS. About the RS232 settings, the UNI-T 803 Operating manual reads.
    (Page 54)
    C. Setting of RS232C Serial Ports
Default of RS232C serial port for communication is set as:
    Baud Rate  19200
    Start bit     1
    Stop bit     1
    Data bits   7
    Parity       Odd

  • Error while installing Migration Tool kit for SAP BPC7.0

    Hi all,
We are implementing SAP Business Planning and Consolidation Migration Process to BPC 7.0.
We are trying to installin Migration Tool Kit. In this kit we are having two set up files - one for BPCMigrationClient and another for BPCMigrationServer.
When i am trying to install the BPCMigrationServer set up file it diaplays a screen which says - Enter the service type accounts.- it has the following items - 1. System Admin ID, 2. password, 3. Admin ID, 4. Admin Password, 5. User ID, 6. User Password.
    1. System Admin ID already has the id ( through which i have logged on to the system). This option is non editable.
    2. password: gives option to type in the password.
3, 4, 5, 6 options are disabled and are blank. we are not able to edit them or write anything in them.
After entering the password when clicked on next , it gives us message saying Invalid Admin ID (3). But the problem here is that the 3,4,5 and 6 options are disabled. We cannot write anything in them. We are not able to install the migration tool kit because of this.
Can anyone help us out in solving this issue.
    Thanks,
    Madhav

CAn you precise also what Migration tool are you using?
Migration from 5.1 to SAP BPC 7.0 NW?
In that case when you are speaking about the installation about what part are you speaking?
I think actually you are speaking about the migration tool from 4.2 to 7.0 Microsoft version .
In that case you can install the mIgration tool just with SAP BPC sys admin users and you have to input the password for that user. Sys admin user for BPC is usually the user used for installation of SAP BPC server.
Any way I suggest to follow the Migration tool training document and there you will find all the information necessary.

  • Hp Wireless kit problem with HP CP1215 printer - will not finish setup

I just purchased the HP Color Laserjet CP1215 and attempted to install and use the upgrade wireless kit but I can't get it to install.  It will go through the process until it gets to the point where it either can not find the PC adapter or that the PC and printer adapter don't connect.  I am not sure what to do.  The only error message I receive is that the HPWlan.exe file has an error and will not load.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I have a Toshiba laptop and am running Windows XP with service pack 2.  I have a DSL wireless connection through a linksys router.  Any suggestions about this issue would be really helpful.  Thanks.

Assuming that one of the APs runs DHCP and that the other is bridged, turn the briged AP off.  Now, connect the printer to the other AP, even if you have to move the printer.
Once the printer is connected it should work fine once you turn the second AP back on.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Step by step installation for java card kit 2.2.2

can anyone help me with a complete step by step installation information for java card kit 2.2.2, i already tried to follow the instruction given in the software i download n still stuck in setting the java path. any recommendation
    thanks for the help

The javacard API is for developing applets on card. Java 6 is for developing clients off-card.
yes u can use any java IDEs like netbeans or jcreator. But you will have to select the libraries within the downloaded java card kit folder for ur IDE in order to compile successfully.
try reading up the documentation and run the samples in the java card kit. thats a good place to start.

  • System Recovery Kit for dv7-3165dx fails to restore factory image to replacement hd

I'm posting this wall of text here in case someone else has any suggestions before I contact HP Support to see what options they have.
My attempt to recover the factory image to a replacement hard drive in an HP Pavilion dv7-3165dx notebook is failing. An error occurs when SM.exe is trying to merge the WIM files. The SSRD.Log shows an error:
SM, 13, Set reference file fail
after that, SM.exe displays this message when run from a command line:
SM, Failure, Can not load imagex 1 from src WIM file
The following are the symptoms that the Recovery Manager displays on the screen.
The Recovery Manager reads the two DVDs and after a few seconds, it pops up an error message:
    Reducer
    C:\RM\Image\TempBASE.WIM was not found.
The message has on "OK" button that when clicked on, closes the message window.
After that, nothing happens. No disk or DVD activity for over an hour. The mouse moves, but no key presses have any effect, including CTRL-ALT-DEL. You can use the mouse to move the Recovery Manager window around, and there is nothing hidden behind it. Clicking on the Recovery Manager Back, Next, or Cancel buttons produce no response at all.
The only option at this point is to hold down the power switch until it powers down.
When the power is turned back on, the hard drive boots and Recovery Manager displays a message that incorrectly claims "Recovery is complete" and has a "Click Finish to restart" button. After clicking on "Finish", it reboots but since the System Recovery did not actually complete, all it does is display:
    BOOTMGR is missing
    Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart
Before attempting the recovery, the notebook passed all diagnostic tests.
The 2x2GB memory cards, which still have HP stickers on them, were tested with Memtest86+ V5.01 and completed over six passes in over seven hours with zero errors.
The replacement 500GB HGST Travelstar Z5K500 drive was tested with gsmartcontrol. The SMART status showed no errors in the past with over 400 hours of power-on time. Both of the SMART short self-test and extended self-test tests were run, which it passed without any errors.
The HP System Diagnostics from the Startup Menu were run on the memory and hard drive and they passed those tests without any errors.
While waiting for the HP "System Recovery Kit for Consumer Notebook (3 Disks)" Software Part Number 599357-001 to arrive, both Fedora 21 64bit and Windows Vista 64bit were successfully installed on the harddrive.
Both System Recovery DVDs were read on different machines without any errors. This System Recovery Kit supports the notebook's System Id which is 3638, so they appear to be the correct discs.
Now a list of workaround attempts that were suggested.
After the Recovery Manager failed a few times with the same error message, some googling came up with other users mentioning the "TempBASE.WIM was not found" error message. I tried these suggestions that I read about.
Run KillDisk to fill the HD with zeros.
Running Recovery Manager after that failed with the same error message.
Run the CyberLink Recovery Discs Utility (sp44645.exe).
Running Recovery Manager after that failed with the same error message.
Installed Windows VISTA 64bit again and upgraded the BIOS from F10 to F13.
Running Recovery Manager after that failed with the same error message.
Try only using a single 2GB memory card to see if it was a 64bit problem.
Running Recovery Manager after that failed with the same error message.
The BIOS does not have an option to change from AHCI mode to IDE mode.
I don't have a Windows 7 OEM install disc and am trying to avoid spending $100 to buy one.
That is when I decided that it is not a PC hardware problem, but a problem with the HP System Recovery Kit. Here are the details of what I think the Kit is doing.
After running Recovery Manager and getting the error message, instead of just re-booting and letting the "Recovery is complete" message appear, I re-booted with a Linux USB drive and inspected what was on the hard drive.
    fdisk -l shows this:
    Disk /dev/sda: 465.8 GiB, 500107862016 bytes, 976773168 sectors
    Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
    Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
    I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
    Disklabel type: dos
    Disk identifier: 0xa5dddc41
Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type
    /dev/sda1 409600 143013887 142604288 68G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT
    /dev/sda2 * 143013888 143833087 819200 400M c W95 FAT32 (LBA)
    fsarchiver probe shows this:
    [======DISK=] [=============NAME====] [====SIZE==] [MAJ] [MIN]
    [sda                     ] [HGST HTS545050A7                ]  [  465.76 GB] [     8] [     0]
    [=====DEVICE] [==FILESYS==] [=====LABEL=] [====SIZE==] [MAJ] [MIN]
    [sda1                 ] [ntfs                  ] [<unknown>      ] [     68.00 GB] [    8] [     1]
    [sda2                 ] [vfat                  ] [SDV                     ] [  400.00 MB] [   8] [     2]
Running gparted shows about 200 MB of unallocated space before the sda1 NTFS partition. The rest of the disk is unallocated after the bootable sda2.
The sda1 NTFS partition has a \SSRD.Log file and an empty \RM\Image directory.
The sda2 FAT32 partition has the Recovery Manager application files in it:
    /mnt/sda2:
    total 400
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 15 Apr 9 23:36 SDV.FLG
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Apr 9 23:36 SYSTEM.SAV
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Nov 1 2009 BOOT
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Nov 1 2009 EFI
    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Nov 1 2009 SOURCES
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jul 27 2009 TOOL
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 383562 Jul 13 2009 bootmgr
The SOURCES directory has boot.wim, and the TOOL directory has all the programs, like Reducer.exe and SM.exe, in it.
After shutting down the Linux system and rebooting, the Recovery Manager then boots from sda2 and displays the "Recovery is complete" message and "Click Finish to restart" button. During this process, it removes the sda2 partition and marks the sda1 NTFS partition as the active bootable partition. When the PC restarts, all that is left is the sda1 NTFS partition with the empty C:\RM\Image directory and the SSRD.Log file, so there is no BOOTMGR to boot with.
The SSRD.Log file logs the tasks that the Recovery Manager performs.
The Recovery Manager runs some initialization tasks and then reads the two System Recovery DVDs. It then calls MergeWimFile which runs SM.exe and starts to merge BASE.WIM with the other BASE*.WIM files. SM.exe merges 20 WIM files with log entries like these:
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE22.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE23.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE3.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE4.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE5.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE6.WIM
    SM, Success, refName= C:\RM\IMAGE\BASE7.WIM
Then, with only two WIM files left, BASE8.WIM and BASE9.WIM, the log shows:
SM, 13, Set reference file fail
This must be when Recovery Manager pops up the "Reducer C:\RM\Image\TempBASE.WIM was not found" error message.
    That narrowed down the problem.
I copied all of the WIM files and the TOOLS directory to a Windows 8.1 system. The two DVDs did not have any errors while being read. Running SM.exe from an admin Command Prompt with the same parameters that were logged in the SSRD.Log produced the same error message. There was an additional error message that appeared in the Command Prompt window:
SM, 13, Set reference file fail
SM, Failure, Can not load imagex 1 from src WIM file
and the TempBASE.WIM was not created.
SM.exe /? did not provide a help message. I could not find any documentation on the SM.exe command.
If I removed three of the WIM files, (BASE7.WIM BASE8.WIM BASE9.WIM) then SM.exe could create the TempBASE.WIM file, but it would fail while merging index 2 of 3 with this message:
SM, 11%, Merge index 2 of 3 Processing
    SM, Failed, Export image failed
The TempBASE.WIM is 3,421,518 KB in size after that.
This is where I came to a dead end and cannot think of anything else that I can do. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but it appears to me that there was some kind of error building this System Recovery Kit and it is not able to perform a factory install on this notebook.
    ps
If I can figure out how to add an attachment, I will add the SSRD.Log file.  If not, then ask and I will post it as a followup.

Downloaded Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit which contains the latest imagex program.
Running imagex.exe on the BASE7.WIM file on the second System Recovery DVD:
    imagex.exe /info K:\PRELOAD\BASE7.WIM
    ImageX Tool for Windows
    Version: 6.2.9200.16384
    Error opening file [K:\PRELOAD\BASE7.WIM].
    The data is invalid.
The same error message is shown for BASE7.WIM, BASE8.WIM, and BASE9.WIM.
The other WIM files in the PRELOAD directory, BASE5.WIM, BASE6.WIM, BASE10.WIM, BASE13.WIM, BASE15.WIM, BASE17.WIM and BASE23.WIM, could be read by imagex without any errors.

    Hi all,
I have uninstalled the SAP Integration Kit XI 3.0 on a single solaris server installation. Uninstall was done exactly as instructed in the manual and everything looked ok.
Now when I try to go to the login page of CMC or InfoView I get an error:

Is the login page trying to look for the SAP authentication page that was removed ?
Is there some configuration still remaining somewhere that needs to be removed so I get the old login page back ?

  • Windows XP Conversion Kit

    Hi all
I have a new T61 with Windows Vista Ultimate.
I would like to downgrade to Windows XP. I got three CD's with the Notebook
    1. Rescue and Recovery CD P/N 43R4481
    2. Product Recovery CD for T61 .. P/N 44Y4003
    3. Supplemental Product Recovery CD for T61 P/N 44Y4031
I thought these CD's would be the XP Conversion kit, but I'm not able to install it.
I used the RR cd and booted the system. I got the Rescue and Recovery application
but I couldn't find the option - as described in the conversion kit manual - "Full Restore".
What am I doing wrong, could anybody help me?
    Thanks
    Andrea
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    dontworry:
I actually tried last night again myself and was successful. The trick is to ignore the "Full Restore" comment and choose the System Restore option on the menue on the left. It should produce a window with three options: operating system and file restore from backup, operating system restore only and full hard-drive restore to factory stetting. The last one is the one you want. Let it go through the motions and follow the steps in the manual. They will work from here on out. With one important difference: it will not say that "the conversion process will begin in 20 seconds". It just sits there. I unfortunately thought it failed and hit cancel, which aborts the conversion process (as indicated in the manual). That left me with a blank hard-drive ..... After some other ill-fainted trials (and a phone call to Lenovo) did the exact same thing over again, but this time waited at this crutial step. And lo and behold, the process came back to life and properly installed Windows XP. Just the way they described in the manual (as if they knew what would happen ...). The whole process did take four hours, so bring some time.
    Good luck.

  • How do I load additional Type Kit fonts into Muse?

I have installed Azo Sans font from the Tool Kit within Creative Cload and it is synced across the account. I want to use this font in an Adobe Muse design but it's not available as Adobe Edge Web Font within Adobe Muse. Any suggestions??

Muse is limited to "Edge" fonts and doesn't have access to all the web fonts in Typekit (but they should be). The only solution to this I know of is paying extra for a Muse Themes membership. Muse Themes has a Full Typekit Integration widget, along with some other very useful widgets.

How do I use the VIs for the Fluke Hydra Series 2620a multimeter? I am conducting a Senior Design Project at Temple University. It is a Control System where I need to read voltages from sensors and output voltages to different system components. I am trying to set up a VI using the VIs found above to make sure that I can successfully read and send voltages. There was no documentation given with the 2620a VIs.

Unfortunately, you've got a very old driver for an old instrument. The only available help is to turn on Context Help and move your mouse over the VI icon. It doesn't appear to have any help for individual controls and indicators. The only good news is that it appears to be a simple instrument with only a few functions. There's some main ones line initialize (to set serial port), configure channel, configure instr, and read values. One main thing is whether you're using gpib or serial, Each front panel has a setting. If it's gpib, set the port to the gpib address. If it's serial, set the port to one number less than the com port you're connected to. For example, if you're using Com1, set the port to 0. For the other controls, I'm afraid that you're going to have to try and compare what's there with the controls and settings of the actual instrument. Having access to the instrument manual will be essential. I would engourage you to experiment a little. There's probably very little chance of damaging the instrument especially if nothing is hooked up to it. Send a command and see what happens or set the instrument up manually and see if you can reproduce that via remote control.

As long as you're targeting an SD card with photos or movies, it should work same as connecting to a camera....but in that case, there is really no need since the camera kit includes an SD reader.
