E1550 causing modem to lose internet

Honestly, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it more than once.
I have an E1550 less than 1 year old. Lately, I have been losing internet on the AT&T modem. I called AT&T but as part of their diagnostics, I have to plug the modem directly into the PC. I have loaded the latest firmware to the E1550.
Situation:
Lose Internet but wireless connectivity to router exists
Internet light on modem is out (modem is connected to router)
Unplug modem and leave off - plug in, internet light is still out
Unplug router, plug router back in - no internet connection but do have wireless connectivity to router
Take cable from modem to router and plug directly into PC - internet light comes on in modem and I have internet from PC
Take cable from PC and plug back into router - I have internet via wireless
What I can't figure out is what could be happening in router that would impact modem internet connection. I have replicated this at least 3 times. Yes, the modem is a bit old, but since plugging it directly into the PC works, I'm thinking it has to be the router and I cannot figure out why unless there's some sort of electrical thing going on in the router. I have searched the internet and I don't see anyone else with this issue. Do I have to buy a new router? This one is < 1 year old.

The information that you have provided is for wired connection or for wireless connection? If the information that you provided is for wired connection then try to lower down the MTU size to 1400 from 1500. Then checck the connectivity status...
Try to do the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
          1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
          2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
         3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
Second, try to ping 192.168.1.1 and
DNS1 - 4.2.2.2
DNS2 - 4.2.2.3
but make sure the computer should be wired with the router...

Only MBP loses internet connection when I move away from router

Last week I started having trouble with my old Motorola modem/router. I bought a new Zoom modem/router and set it up on Friday. The router is under my desk maybe 12 feet from the top of my stairs (not in a room, it's in an open loft at the top of the stairs). Right now I am on my MBP at my desk, wirelessly connected, and everything is fine. However, if I take my MBP downstairs (or even on to the stairs), I lose internet. The wi-fi status always shows full strength. My iPhone and iPad get wi-fi fine downstairs, even though the wi-fi status doesn't show full strength. It is driving me crazy. What could be causing this? All devices on network lose internet connection when Dell laptop connected

I have successfully setup my AEBS network and am using two wireless clients--HP printer and Xbox access point (both 802.11 G) and a wired iMac that also is connected via Airport (so I can move it around if i want). I tried connecting my Dell Latitude D830 wirelessly and within a few minutes of connecting the AEBS loses internet connectivity. Unplugging and restarting the AEBS restores the internet but it just drops off again in less than 10 minutes. My question is, what might be causing this and what can I do about it? One peculiar thing to me is that I am using the WEP security option since the Xbox doesn't seem to support WAP2. When connecting the Xbox it reports the network as WEP but the HP printer and Dell Laptop but suggested the network was indeed WAP even though I'm clearing using WEP security. Maybe it's nothing but wanted to add for completeness.
The Dell is running Vista Enterprise edition.

I've noticed a similar issue. Any time my HP/Vista laptop is connected to my AEBS it loses the network connection at inconsistant time intervals(~10-15 min).

Connecting printer to TC makes me lose internet connection

When trying to connect my Canon Pixma MP550 to the Time Capsule, I encountered a mysterious problem: I can print from my MBP via TC but I am losing the internet connection (the DSL light on my ADSL modem starts to blink and the AirPort Utility says that there is a problem with the PPoE connection.
Anyone having the same problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have discovered that the problem was probably not related to the printer (even if other USB devices like memory sticks work when plugged in the TC). When trying to do a faster Time Machine backup and connecting my laptop to the TC with an Ethernet cable, the same thing happens - my modem loses Internet connection. Very curious, and to the date noone has been capable to find a solution...

I lose internet when I disconnect Vonage

Hello all!
I recently discontinued Vonage VOIP. The setup was initially cable modem > vonage box > airport router. I have four mac set up on the airport network.
When I remove the Vonage box and connect the Airport Extreme directly to the modem, I lose the internet. I still have internet if I connect the modem directly to my mac, and the computers on the network still speak to each other through airport, but there is no internet.
If I put the vonage box back into the setup, the internet reappears and everyone can surf again.
Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Your AirPort Extreme router must not be configured correctly. It should be set to obtain a WAN IP address automatically and serve up DHCP on the local network.
Be sure that you cut all power (including battery-supplied power) on the modem before reconnecting the AirPort Extreme router to it—otherwise the cable modem may be looking for another MAC address and the AirPort Extreme router will not receive a WAN IP address.

7510e printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep

I own a 7510e all in one printer, I connected it wireless again after having it connected with a USB
cable, I had to do this because my printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep or if I get a power outage, this has been going on since I purchased it last year. I got a new wireless router/modem combo from my ISP server and hoped that would solve the problem but it has not.
I cannot get any apps except for those that are on the front of my printer which are just for small kids. I am now told that this printer has been discontinued and 7520 has replaced it, I do not wish to spend another $200.00 in less than a year for a printer. It is registered with HP connected and I have a Efax # and HP connected address, I did everything correctly but it seems that each time I set it up wireless it messes up my desktop windows 7 home premium 64 bit, cloud services told me not to use IE 10 but we are ready to download IE11 so I am using IE 10, this time HP support assistant quit working and I could not even uninstall it until I downloaded microsoft fix it and then redownloaded it from HP web site.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I am not on a home group yet it always tells me I do not have administrators permission to do a lot of things, I am the only user.

I checked and there is no way to turn off the sleep mode on this model.
I included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection and to try Solution three: Assign a static IP address to the printer. You will need to get your It department most likely to set this up for you if you don't have full admin rights.

G4 QS 733 loses internet connect often with Comcast any ideas??

I have a G4 QS 733 that loses internet connection through Comcast at least 2 times a day everyday for no rhyme or reason. I have had the cable modem replaced (on number 7 in 18 months but 2 were dead out of the box stupid refurbs) with a Motorola Surfboard from Best Buy and when it works it is great - 13mbps download consistently. I have a Belkin router wireless/wi-if and a PC and the Mac wired to it at the same desk with KVM and when the Mac loses connection if I switch to PC the PC connects fine so I think it is in the Mac but not sure. I have had several Macs hooked up to this same router including 2 Intel minis, several G3 towers and a few G3 iMacs and G4 towers as well and ALL had this problem at one time or another with no explanation whatsoever. I have replaced everything a minimum of 2 times now including router,modem, cables etc. and the cable drop from pole to house was replaced a few months back but no luck. Also all computers, router etc all hooked to APC battery backups so I do not think it is power related. I have no problems connecting my Pismo wiht either an Airport card or a Belkin 54g wireless PCMCIA card so I am convinced it is in the ethernet somwehow but not sure where. Anyone else have the same problems and fixed it?? Comcast is just not helpful and 14 service calls in 18 months is wearing thin at this point.

Well just for kicks I tried running Firefox for a little over a week along with Safari and jumping back and forth between the 2, very interesting results. I have found that when Safari loses internet connection and gives "cannot find server" type errors that Firefox still has a connection and keeps right on going. I am convinced the error is within Safari but cannot pin down what it is yet. I had same EXACT disconnection issues with an Intel Mini that got so frustrating I finally sold it and it too was running Safari and I wonder if it had the same issue. Not bashing Safari but maybe there is a problem with Safari and Comcast cable that is not showing up with other internet providers or browsers ?? I am pretty sure my connection is good as all the cable wires, modem etc are all new and my PC which his hooked to the same router and shares the monitor/keyboard with the G4 never loses connection when Safari does so I think this cuts the cable out of the loop as a problem. Anyone else have similar issues???

Lose Internet for short periods.

I have a linksys wireless g router model WRT54G ver. 6
Recently i've been having problems with my router. The power light blinks and the big rectangle orange thing with Cisco Systems above it goes out.
Whenever this happens I loser internet until that orange light comes back on.
Can anyone explain to me why this happens and if possible how to fix it?

Step one: Visit http://www.giganews.com/line_info.html and post up the Traceroute the page shows, if you wish. Be aware that your non-bogan public IP Address will show up. It might shown up as the final hop (bottom-most line of the trace) might contain a hop with your IP address in it. Either remove that line or show only the first two octets. What I'm looking for is a line that mentions "ERX" in it's name towards the end. If for some reason the trace does not complete (two lines full of Stars), keep the trace route intact.

Lose internet connection with TC wired

I want to connect my TC with a network cable to my iMac to speed up the backup (time machine). But as soon as i connect the cable, I lose internet connection. I use an external modem/router from my ISP. Is there maybe an IP-adress conflict or...?

That is correct.. your cannot simply plug another router into the Mac..
The correct way to do this is to plug the TC into the modem router your ISP supplies and set it up correctly as part of the network.
Then you can connect either by wireless or by ethernet to the TC.

When I connect imac to network via airport all devices on the network lose internet connectivity

Every device stays connected to the network but the internet stops working. Usually the network will continue to function normally for about five minutes when the imac connects, but then every device loses internet access via the network, NOT just the imac. As soon as I turn off the imac's airport they get internet connectivity back. A wired network connection to the imac seems to work OK.
The airport is configured as "Using DHCP"

As far as I know, no changes have been made to the computer recently (but it is not my machine and the owner isn't here atm)

Yes it is possible that the two machines are creating a Computer-to-Computer network and are not going through the Express.
To delete the Alias you may need to login with the Admin User.

It was never a problem in older versions. I now have ff 3.6.17. I' afraid to install ff4 because everytime i do so (install e new version) something i liked dissapears or good add ons dont work anymore!
I also don't like the fact that more and more of the adress barr is beïng used for crap i don't need. I'm a visual handicap and need all the space i can, just to read.

Macbook Constantly Loses Internet, but not Wireless Signal

I have a black 2008 Macbook (don't have the full specs on me since I'm on my work computer) and it constantly loses internet connection (i.e. I can no longer visit websites), however Airport continues to show full signal strength to my wireless network. I think it may be a DNS issue. Is it possible for the Airport card to go bad? Has anyone else had these issues?
FWIW, I'm using AT&T U-Verse for my internet connection. I think the issue is specific to my computer. My two roommates also have macs, and they have no problems with the internet dropping.

No idea if I'm honest. I used a landline phone on the same line as the broadband. When i used the phone, i could hear it crackling.Once they had done whatever they did, that crackling disappeared.

If you had mountain lion, you could've used a feature called power nap. It keeps networking on even when the mac is asleep.
On other OS, I guess its bound to disconnect all networks when it goes to sleep You can try an app called Caffeine that doesn't let it go to sleep.

My WRT54G v5 router loses internet connection frequently. Sometimes occurs when you enter a web or sometimes every few minutes, but without a pattern. I have W XP Pro with SP3 and I have a pc wired to the router and sometimes 2 notebook with Wi-Fi. What could be the problem?. Thank you very much.

I have upgraded the firmware to v 1.02.8 and reduced the MTU to 1350 but after a few minutes of doing that I had the same problem... The router reboots itself, again and again and again...
It's possible to run some diagnostic utility that somebody can check ??

I note that sometimes is ok and when Entering some web pages the router reboots itself and I loose my internet connection, but others, the router reboots for no apparent reason...
