E17 desktop "engage" module only runs when i startx as root

I ran Syu yesterday and it updated a bunch of stuff, but it killed my e17 desktop. after reboot it told me that there was a serious error and that it unloaded all the modules, etc.
so i went to default settings and tried to set it back up, but when i Load the module engage, it crashes and resets to default.
when i start in console and login as root, everything works fine. same if i login as my user and sudo load start x.
everything else seems to be okay, but i dont know what happened to engage. im still not entirely familiar with changing permissions but for some reason thats always what i think the problem is. esp in this case since it works fine when im root

I am having similar problems.
I have a taskbar module installed in a shelf panel. Whenever I minimize an app, I can't restore the window.
In order to get the window back, I have to right click on the desktop and go the the windows submenu.
I tried reinstalling the complete E-17 package but that did not work.
P.S. Kudos to the E17 developers for giving me back my desktop after the Gnome3 debacle!

Battery or Charger? Only runs when plugged in.

The machine only works when plugged in. When unplugged, it turns off and the time/date settings are lost. I don't know whether, or not, this is a battery issue or charger issue. Can the answer be told from this data, which I got from the machine? Thank you.

Creative Cloud will only "run" when started in "Run as Administrator"

For some reason, sometime in the past month Creative Cloud will not give me access when started from any of the normal methods; the Task bar Shortcut, the Start Menu shortcut, or even directly from double clicking on "Creative Cloud.exe." It starts in the background but does not appear on the monitor. This is confirmed with Task Manager. I have found that if I use Task Manager to "End Task," I can start the program (from any of the above methods) by choosing "Run as Administrator" and it appears on the monitor and I have complete access.
Today, I updated to the newest version and the situation remains the same (except, that before I did not have to "end Task" in Task Manager prior to "Run as Administrator.)
What is causing this and how do I fix it?

I tried every solution I found online suggesting deletion of apps, fresh installs, deletion of folders, permission changes, etc. I finally had an hour long chat session with an Adobe tech who had me do much of the same thing again, only to have the issue remain.
Here was the end solution which worked for me:
1. Create a new Admin account
2. Log out of your computer, and then back in under the new admin account
3. use the Creative Cloud uninstaller app to uninstall CC desktop. (Doing this prompted an alert message telling me I couldn't do this because some CC apps required it. So, I deleted the 2 CC apps I had installed, Lightroom and Photoshop)
4. After the uninstall completes, install a new copy of CC desktop. (Once I did this, it opened and ran correctly.)
5. Log out and log back in under your usual account.
6. If CC desktop doesn't start on its own, double click the application itself to start up.
After completing step #6, CC desktop started up on its own. I re-downloaded Photoshop and Lightroom through CC and all is working normally so far.

My late 2011 MacBook Pro 4 gig RAM is running very slowly, crashing very often. Repaired permissions, repaired disc, updated to Mavericks, uninstalled Blackberry Desktop. Can only run one app at a time, barely.

Activity monitor shows RAM usage at between 3 and 3.95 most of the time, even with no apps running. Hard drive has plenty of free space. Chrome crashes it the most, but any time I run more than two apps at a time, it crashes. It cannot ever complete a Time Machine backup. That leaves it dead in the water after a few minutes. When I say crash, I mean totally unresponsive, even when left alone for hours. Only a hard reset works. Then, it is hit or miss when it comes to rebooting. Often, it crashes at the startup login screen, and often it doesn't even make it that far. Sometimes, the computer spontaneously restarts itself. I've looked at the forums, and tried everything that I've seen suggested. I've left it alone overnight, hoping that it was just indexing, but no dice. I even used the sudo purge command once. That cleared up some RAM for a moment, but didn't affect the performance issues. I am aware that the RAM usage may have nothing to do with it, but that's the only clue I have. It is a miracle that I'm even able to finish typing this message, since right now I have Safari and Mail open at the same time! I've turned off Drop Box. Every application loads painfully slowly, and then any activity, including typing, is often interrupted by the spinning pinwheel of death. Sometimes, the problem resolves for a few minutes, and then returns with a vengance. Help!

PSRF_REPORT_CREATE message only running when outdesttype is web

Our team has setup messaging to allow generated reports to be listed in the report manager by using the PSRF_REPORT_CREATE message and the PSRF_REPORTING_FOLDERS queue. When we run a new report with an outdesttype of Web, the message is passed to the queue properly and everything works well. The problem is, when we select any other outdesttype such as File, Email, etc. the message never gets sent to the queue and nothing happens other than the report being generated in the specified directory. We are pretty sure that our gateway, node, services, service operation and routings are setup properly since it is working correctly using Web. Anyone have any recommendations?

One thing i have noticed is when i do a select * from PSPRCSRQST the difference between the ones that get pushed to the report manager (the message gets sent) is that the PSRF_FOLDER_NAME = GENERAL where as the ones that don't fire the message this same field is empty. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it but that is the only difference between these records in this table.

Playbook won't run on battery. Only runs when connected to charger.

My playbook battery shows 100% charge, but immediately shuts off when I unplug the charger. When I plug it in it will boot up after red light comes on then flashing green fifteen times and work properly, until I disconnect the playbook charger. I also cannot connect it to my computer anymore.

First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

ITunes only runs when computer is in selective startup mode

I installed iTunes 9 and it works as long as my computer starts up in selective mode. I have to go into services and disable all non Microsoft services then restart the computer so iItunes works. When I start in normal startup mode I get the following message. "iTunes cannot run because some of its required files are missing. Please reinstall iTunes." Am I supposed to go through the timely process of restarting one item at a time and rebooting to figure out what's causing the problem or does someone have any idea what the problem could be?

Good lord. Good catch with that rebross. I wasn't thinking along those lines at all.
One way of speeding up the "narrowing in process". (1) Try starting with half the non-MS services disabled. (2) If itunes doesn't launch after doing that, atempt a selective startup with the other half disabled. If itunes launches after doing that, see if you can launch with the half that were enabled for (2) and half of the ones from (1) enabled, and so on.
(It's still a performance, but it'll be quicker than adding back the services one by one ...)

Softmotion module only runs on labview 32 bit and not labview 64 bit

Good day everyone,
I downloaded the softmotion module for my Labview 2013 64 bit however when i try to create a new solidworks assembly there is no option for that.
But when I installed the 32 bit version of Labview 2013 I was able to see the option to create a new solidworks assembly.
Why can't I see the option for the Labview 2013 64 bit ?
P.S I am using Solidworks 2014 64 bit Premium .

Creating a trigger to only run when a new table is being created

I know that I can use this to create DDL create trigger;

END;Problem is this trigger would run on DDLs like 'Create sequence'; how can I only execute this for 'Create Table' DDLs?

Check ora_sysevent coupled with ora_dict_obj_type in your trigger. That will help you capture the CREATE TABLE event.

My macbook only runs when plugged in to the wall power source.

The battery says it is at 99% charge but the computer shuts down when I unplug the power cord. Any suggestions?

By the way, that's NOT the original battery! Bought this one online, Apple store, last year. Did some hardware tests, too. First, yesterday, I got some error message after the test: 4 SNS/1/40000000: 'VCOC'

My MacBookPro disconnects when I remove the charger even when the battery is fully charged. I have apple care, but i have hard a difficult time locating support. Any suggestions?

Before you do, try a PMU reset. Turn the computer off, remove the battery, remove the ac adapter and press the power button down and hold it for 10 seconds.

Is there a standard script that runs when a projector stops?

I know there are a couple of scripts I can use to set things up when starting a Director movie (startMovie and PrepareMovie). But are there also scripts I can use that run when the user chooses to shut down a projector? I want to run a script that sets the user's screen rez back to its original setting before shutting the projector down.

Yes, I am looking at that one. But isn't that script activated each time a .dir movie is exited, even if it opens a different .dir movie? Or, is it only activated when the 'PROJECTOR stops?
The script I want to run should only run when you exit the projector.

E17 Engage module- No icons appearing

Running on a fresh install of arch, using E17.
Basically when Using the Engage module or even ibar any applications I put in it dont visually show up as icons. The bar expands, they are in there and can be clicked to load an application but visually they are invisible.
The taskbar in engange however does still work fine.
Very odd. Anyone know the problem?
Edit: Just actually talked to my brother as well who also just in the last couple days did a fresh arch install with e17. Same problem.

I've found that I need to provide the full path to the icon in my .desktop files. For instance in /usr/share/applications/opera-browser.desktop I've changed the "Icon=" line to this:
Icon=/usr/share/icons/hicolor/32x32/apps/opera-browser.png
I suspect this is not the official method, but I found it by accident and it works so I'm sticking with it.

Perhaps the PLUGIN Update feature needs to be engaged to assure that both Java and Shockwave editions are current. It requires 'Help' > 'Firefox Help' > where the lower right side displays a link for Plug-In Update...
