E17 lock screen: stuck at authenticating

Hello,
as of yesterday the E17 lock screen is stuck at authenticating(doesn't reject password nor unlocks the screen) and i have to kill and restart X to get around it. Note that happens with version 0.17 and 0.17.1, so doesn't look like it is related to the update. It used to work in the past though.
After reading the wiki i created  /etc/pam.d/enlightenment:
$:cat /etc/pam.d/enlightenment
auth required pam_unix_auth.so
but that doesn't help. I guess being stuck at authenticating is some different problem than not accepting the password.
Any ideas where to look now? I still guess it is PAM related, but i never had to manually configure PAM, so any help is appreciated.
Edit:
I removed my .e configuration folder and let E17 recreate everything, authenticating works now. Weird... but now the mixer module settings freeze E17... sigh...

We had a similar issue and opened an SR with Oracle Support. Their recommendation was to turn usage and event tracking off. These are under the Administer menu in Workspace:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/bpmui_user/ch01s16s01.html
Since turning these off, we haven't had the issue. However, we'd like these to be turned on and I believe the SR is still open for this purpose. Try the same and see if it resolves your issue. I will send another update with Oracle's recommendation.
Cheers,
Mehmet

  • Lock screen and other app stuck on zoomed mode

    I noticed that my lock screen is stuck on zoomed mode. When I'm in my home screen it's in standard view. Also I'm having the same issue with my apps. Apps like Pinterest, Tumblr, Swarm, Twitter looks fine but other apps like Facebook and Instagram are all stuck on zoomed mode. How do i fix this?

    Hello iankyliu,
    It may be that the zoom accessibility feature has been enabled. The article linked below details how to go about turning it off.

    Otherwise, it may be Display Zoom that's enabled, which is explained in the iPhone User Guide.

    To back to the normal scale you have to disable the parallax.
    Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion (turn off)
    You won't be able to put the wallpepr out of frame as ios 6 (earlier), but it stop to putting the annoying zoom.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom
  • IPad Stuck on lock screen (4th Gen)
    Hi All,
    I have a iPad 4th Generation - Late 2012 edition. In the last few weeks it has been getting stuck on the lock screen more and more.
    I lock the iPad in the usual way, but when I swipe to unlock it nothing happens - I have attached a photo and a video of the problem can be downloaded from https://www.amazon.co.uk/clouddrive/share/bgDUnkJz_3yAdCV947xoFai7hn-ZjLML0sJ4Es mJGoY
    The only way to get it to work is to totally power down the iPad and turn it back on.
    I have done a full restore on iTunes, but it's still doing it.
    Can anyone help at all?
    Thanks alot,
    Keith
    sorry - I meant to say it's running iOS 8.1.1 and has 2.9gb free space.
  • Lock Screen Custom Image Stuck on Load for Windows 8.1
    I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1, but it reset my custom lock screen image.  I tried re-applying it but the lock screen preview in the settings is stuck on a load loop.  Does anyone know why that is and why it won't set my custom image as the
    new lock screen image?
    Hi all,
    I've experienced the same issue and it disappeared after doing some weird steps.
    First about the problem:
    I have Surface Pro tablet, updated to Windows 8.1 many months ago. However yesterday this issue happened for the first time (not sure what triggered it) and continued today as well, even after restarting:
    - Charms bar > Settings > Personalize. Click on background color or Accent color palette to try to change color: the pane and Start menu behind freezes and doesn't react on anything except for pressing Windows button on tablet, that throws back to
    desktop. But when you return to that menu it appears the color has been changed after all (as much as could have been done in one click before it froze).
    - Can't change lock screen: I didn't move the image selected there and previous images, they are still located at the same folder. But after selecting an image loading wheel spins and image never updates.
    Fix:
    After reading here that this replicates with account picture for some people, I wanted to check this on my tablet as well. My account picture shown the current image and 2 previous images to the right. When clicking first of those, nothing changed. When
    clicking on the second one it shown the image from the first selected as account picture, and vice versa - when clicking on the first again it shown the second pic selected as account picture. After browsing and selecting other image, it didn't update in account
    picture, but after going out from the menu and back again it appeared that the account image updated after all.
    After that all started working normal again - can select account picture, change lock screen and personalize without problems. Weird, but it worked.
  • After update to ios 7  my 4s gets stuck in lock screen
    Every now and then my iphone 4s gets stuck in lock screen, I can't slide to unlock. The only way to solve the problem is to switch off and then on the iphone and then it works again.
    Any clues?
    Hi zzcool,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
    To address this issue, I would suggest restarting and/or resetting the iPhone:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    If that does not resolve the issue, refer to page 146 in the iPhone User Guide to Reset All Settings:
  • Stuck on Lock Screen
    Dear Sirs,
    I have a problem that happens frequently for me on my iPhone 4S with IOS7 latest updates, the problem that I stuck on the lock screen (I can't slide to unlock), I still can open the control center from down screen, or openning the Today from top screen, most of the times that happens after canceling a call by pressing the power button twice,  the only way to access the device is to power off then restart again.
    That also happened with me for iphone 4 with IOS 6 and iPhone 3G
    Appreciating your support as it's very annoying.
    Bahaa
    Have you tried resetting your iPhone?
    Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
    Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
    Good luck and do report back.
