It then unceremoniously exits, failing to generate any menu. Not much use..

Well, if I remove the libclearlooks.so file, Hydrogen starts. It throws these lot of these warnings:
(hydrogen:1652): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "clearlooks",
I also tried recompiling from ABS, but got:
Install directory: "data/img" as "/tmp/hydrogen/pkg/usr/share/hydrogen/data/img"
scons: *** [/tmp/hydrogen/pkg/usr/share/hydrogen/data/img/gray] /tmp/hydrogen/pkg/usr/share/hydrogen/data/img/gray: File exists
Compiling from AUR (svn package) works, but throws the same error.
I have opened a thread on the Hydrogen forums: http://hydrogen.popez.org/hcms/node/1939

  • [SOLVED- use cairo-xcb]Symbol lookup errors with cairo and awesome

    Hi  guys,
    the last few days i've been getting these errors at start:
    awesome: symbol lookup error: awesome: undefined symbol: cairo_xcb_surface_create
    on xinit. It gets started with "exec ck-launch-session awesome"
    I've narrowed the problem down to awesome itself, even with default rc.lua. Anyone else also getting these?
    http://mirror.selfnet.de/archlinux/$repo/os/x86_64 has been my first mirror. The mirror itself seems ok.
    Smells like packaging issue, right? Testing is enabled, so cairo is on 1.10.0-2 and awesome on 3.4.6-1.

  • Nm-applet fails to start (symbol lookup error)

    I can't exactly remember what I did, but nm-applet doesn't start anymore.
    This is what I get:
    nm-applet: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libgudev-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_type_class_adjust_private_offset
    systemctl reports:
    NetworkManager.service loaded failed failed Network Manager
    I tried googling the error and got no results. The only match I got using "pacman -Ss libgudev" was systemd, and I have the lastest version installed.
    What am I missing?

    WonderWoofy wrote:I don't think that nm-applet is able to run unless Network Manager is actually running.  You are inquiring about the wrong thing I think.  First solve the problem with the service, then you can look into making the graphical component work.

  • Symbol lookup error when running Eclipse

    When I close my eclipse,an error dialog pops up,and gives the belowing error information:

    FYI,
    I have no problem and I also used arch Linux x64 with the newest eclipse  Indigo x64 .
    This is my eclipse.ini

    Installing it by a pacman or manually installing it from the eclipse.org  both  worked fine to me. Maybe you need open your eclipse.ini file (/usr/share/eclipse) to check the path.

    a similar problem was reported at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=667877
    i really don't know what they are talking about with using 'nomodset' and i'm not even sure that it applies to my situation
    hope thats enough info to get started on solving this problem

    played around with the .xinitrc file for a while after i got home from work and was able to get fluxbox running.  i would say problem solved, but i guess there wasn't really  a problem after all, just lack of reading.
    don't know how i overlooked the wiki documentation on .xinitrc found at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinitrc

  • Pacman: symbol lookup error

    Not sure how to deal with this. I have tried renaming some files but that doesn't seem to help at all, so I have moved them back to where they were.
    Some of what I did here was clearly the wrong thing:

    And yes, i've carefully read article about signing packages, pacman key was initialized and keyring also was populated.
    Successfully resolved problem by adding globally SigLevel = Never and commenting out SigLevel = PackageRequired. Yes, I understand that this is bad idea, but i've found no other way to resolve it.
    Then pacman Syu finished succesfully. After that i've turned signature check back. It works.
    P.S.: my bad, it seems that i accidently used 2010.05 old iso to install arch. And as too many core changes came into distro, (initscripts, filestystem force, etc), pacman Syu failed over and over.

  • Symbol lookup error /usr/lib/libXi.so.6

    Dear All,
    After a recent update, I have problems with libXi. I get the following error while trying to plot something with gnuplot:
    gnuplot: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie.
    I get a similar error when trying to run a java application:
    java: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie
    Something looks broken. I tried downgrading libXi to the previous version 1.3.2-1:
    pacman -U libxi-1.3.2-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
    but that didn't help. I'm now back on version 1.4.0-1
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. This is my first post to this forum so bare with me. I've been a gentoo user for quite sometime but I'm trying a binary distro for obvious reasons.
    This also looks like a bug for I haven't done anything strange. This is a newish installation and all I do every week or so is pacman -Syu as suggested in the beginner handbook. I'm surprised no one else has posted this problem... is it really just me?. There are some old post on this issue but there was no solution there other than downgrading which I have already tried.
    I've just realized that not even okular works!!! Why am I being punished?
    okular: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libXi.so.6: undefined symbol: XESetWireToEventCookie
    Thanks.

    hey,
    I've installed quartus II today too and ran into similiar conflicts. I build version 1.2.1 of libxi again as suggested by davidgurvich, but "tricked out" pacman to avoid rebuilding the whole xorg packages, which depend on  libxi>=1.3:
    pkgname=libxi
    pkgver=1.3
    pkgrel=2
    realver=1.2.1
    pkgdesc="X11 Input extension library"
    arch=('i686' 'x86_64')
    url="http://xorg.freedesktop.org"
    depends=('libxext>=1.1' 'inputproto>=2.0')
    makedepends=('pkgconfig')
    options=(!libtool force)
    license=('custom')
    source=(${url}/releases/individual/lib/libXi-${realver}.tar.bz2)
    md5sums=('cfb36307e8e7ffafe40848dba24e0b11')
    build() {
    cd "${srcdir}/libXi-${realver}"
    ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --disable-static || return 1
    make || return 1
    make DESTDIR="${pkgdir}" install || return 1
    install -m755 -d "${pkgdir}/usr/share/licenses/${pkgname}"
    install -m644 COPYING "${pkgdir}/usr/share/licenses/${pkgname}/" || return 1
    works for me... however, this is a dirty solution. maybe someone provide a better fix.

  • Kde 3.4: symbol lookup error

    Switched to kde3.4 today. Some apps are crashing, wich is pretty annoying.
    When started from command line they give this error:
    symbol lookup error: /opt/kde/lib/libkdeui.so.4: undefined symbol: _ZN12QProgressBarD2Ev
    libkdeui.so.4 is right where it's supposed to be, so I don't understand the problem.
    Can somebody help?

    I have problems with kde 3.4. I removed .kde* but the problem persist.
    When i maximize a kde app like kcontrol or k3b mi computer hangs and i have to reset by buton
    I reinstalled kde, but nothing.
    Is posible to know the integrity of packages?

  • Can't run dangerdeep / symbol lookup error

    I just wanted to try out danger from the deep but the game doesn't run.
    I installed dangerdeep and dangerdeep-data 0.3.0 out of the community repo.
    The game menu starts fine but as soon as I want to start a mission the game crashes:
    dangerdeep: symbol lookup error: dangerdeep: undefined symbol: glCreateShader
    I have fglrx-utils-8.37.6-1 installed. IMO fglrx-utils should replace libgl-dri completely, am I right?
    btw, recompiling the game stops with an error message
    Cheers Sigi

    No, this is on i686.
    When I compile it with fglrx-utils installed I get the following error: Link
    Dangerdeep builds fine if I replace fglrx-utils with libgl-dri. But when I try to run it with one of the both installed the game crashes with the error posted in the first post.

    I suspect the unresolved symbol is environmental. What distribution, gcc c and c++ runtime are installed? This symbol is contained in the libnpc.so shared object when I run nm on the DSO that is supposed to load.

  • Sleepycat::DbXml problem "httpd: symbol lookup error"

    Hi
    My english is not good (sorry) but I try to explain my problem
    I have apache2.2.9 with modperl 2.0.4 static; I have some perl modules (development by me) with Sleepycat::DbXml library; when ran "make test" for its modules all is fine (I also develop the test); I also use mason (1.37).
    When i tried to acces some page generated for maso I gotten the next messages (log/error):

    my distribution is gentoo...
    maybe the problem is caused by
    - duplicate libraries with different versions
    - or old libraries
    I updated my system and delete duplicate libraries, but the problem continue
    anybody can help me? .... where can investigate?
    another question is: why the problem is present only with apache?
    thanks in advance

    thanks George
    My program ran out of apache.... you are right with your suggerence ... I have to do:
    my distribution is gentoo ... i have installed several versions of gcc (maybe this cause my problem), then with gcc-config command configure default version of gcc to 4.1.2 .... follow the instructions at:
    http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml
    and that's all
    see you
