E2000-Admin user name is changed to SSID name?

I have manually configured the E2000 and set the admin password. When I was trying to log back in, I could not. I reset and reconfigured and set the password again. I still could not log in using "admin" and the password I set up. I thought I was losing my mind. Just on a hunch, I used the SSID name instead of "admin", then I entered the password - that worked. I am able to login, but I need the username to be admin, not the SSID. Has anyine else had this issue? Any way to change the administrator name back to admin?? Weird.
Thank you,

if you want the wireless passphrase and administrator password to be different, you will need to stop using Cisco connect and change the admin password by going to 192.1681.1--->administration--->router password.
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

PowerBook G4 boots to unfamiliar login. List of known user accounts does not appear and original admin user name and password is rejected. What is going on here?

There are no children, nor other suspicious characters that have "played" with my computer. One moment I'm in, the next time I turn on/restart the powerbook I'm at a screen with the name of the hard drive and two fields: username and password. Not a list with pictures and names ie 'Katie Jo' with an orange icon and 'Guest' with a silhouette of a head.
In an attempt to remedy this problem, I backed up files using target disk mode and firewire cable. I then, rebooted in single user mode, typed in the correct script and essentially made the computer appear virgin again. Original start up welcome screen display with multiple languages, and then set up prompts such as language, network, and registration. After completing the cues and the "just a few more questions" page, I press continue and am left at a grey standstill, with the continue button greyed out, and no other actions. I'm only able to "go back" by clicking the go back button, all the way to the beginning of the set up, and as I proceed through the steps a second time, I'm greeted with the same halt. What is this?

  • Missing admin user name

I'm trying to update some software on my father's AirMac and he can't remember his admin user name or where his back up disc.  is there any way around this?

However, if you have Lion, Snow Leopard's instructions are not applicable.
On Lion, you use the following technique to reset the Administrators password:
Boot to your Lion Recovery Partition, by holding down the Option key while starting, and then selecting the Recovery HD as the boot choice.
Once booted, at the top of the screen is a menu ..., select Utilities / Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, type “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A “Reset Password” window will open. Select your boot volume (your SSD drive) if it is not already selected. Select your administrators username from the menu labeled “Select the user account” if it is not already selected. Follow the prompts to reset the password. Restart the computer from the apple menu.
Realize that by resetting your Admin password, your Keychain will be unaffected. If you forgot your password (admin passswords and keychain passwords match by default), you will need to start a new Keychain.

  • Used Macbook Pro, trying to change the admin/user name. I've tried to change it, but wasn't successful.

I'm relatively new to Mac, and I'm still learning my way around my Macbook Pro 2010 from this summer. I was using terminal to do some class in work, and I keep noticing that the user name is something close to 'hello$' (as shown in the screenshot). I purchased this from another Mac user, and some of the settings weren't restored; like the user name and default language on the notebook was in Chinese.
In short, how do I change the user name. Also shown in the screenshot is my name, as you can see I already tried to change the computer's name/admin name.
also, if anyone could answer this simpler question: How do I save the preferences on my terminal to remain the color I have now. Everytime I quit Terminal it reverts back to the same black text - white background.
    Thanks in advance,
    G

The root user is NOT the owner of that little house. That belongs to the user that's logged in. To change that, see Changing user account shortname.

  • How do I change the admin user name?

After a recent crash on my Macbook, the local repair store reinstalled Leopard on it for me, and did all the preliminary setup. Unfortunately, they misspelled my name, and so my "Home" folder in Finder has my name misspelled on it. I can't rename it directly (It says it can't be modified because Mac OS depends on it).
Is there some other indirect way to correct the spelling (like through terminal or similar) , or is my only option creating another user name and moving all my files to it?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Default admin user name password

After snow leopard server was installed successfully from the install dvd and mac mini server was restarted to continue the setup, I entered in the server serial number and it tells me it's "Setting Up ... Your server is being configured."
In the bottom left corner of screen it showed "Upgrading services" and after about 10 minutes when the progress bar was about 2/3 full, an error message was shown "An error occurred while configuring your server." and "Your server needs to be restarted to complete setup."
After I clicked "restart" button, the mac mini booted showing me a login dialog to ask me to log in. But the problem is I did not even get a change to create an admin account yet because the failure earlier!
So what's the default admin account user name and password so that I can continue the setup process?
    Many thanks in advance.

Finally I decided to reboot the mac mini server from a remote dvd drive again to verify the mac mini server serial number using system profiler of the installer. The serial number shown in profile is consistent with the one shown on the bottom of the mini. So it seems to me the password setting somehow corrupted during the previous configuration error.
I then use "reset password" from utilities menu of the installer to reset the root password. After that, Server Admin on the admin macbook can connect to the server without problems using the reset password.

Yes, if you do a fresh install of the operating system, it's like a brand new machine.
No, if you restore from a backup like a bootable clone or TimeMachine drive.

  • Delete Admin User name to sell Macbook Pro

I don't want to create a new admin user and delete mine unless I can make it so they can use the progs I have installed (eg Office for Mac). Already tried that and I just get a new desktop without the installed progs.  Have upgraded to Mountain Lion and re-installed that and have 'erased free space' in Disk Utilities.  Any suggestions please?  Mac is going on e-bay today.

Where is the Applications folder? If it is: Users / you / Applications, just move the whole folder to the root level so it ends up like this. Just drag and drop the whole folder.
After that you can proceed as before to create a new Admin. Next boot from that new admin user, and delete yourself.

  • Change admin user name

When a fresh re-install of Mountain Lion was done at the apple store, my admin name was appended by the number 1. When I try to change it back to the original (since remote apps look for that name) I cannot change it.  It tells me that that name is used. However, I cannot "see" that name or access it.

Hi, I followed your instructions but when I get to step 5, I don't get what is described in step 6. I only get a left-pointing red arrow and a text below that says "Name is already used by another user". So I cannot proceed further. Did I miss something?

  • How to change admin user name?

I have seen directions in this community related to earlier editons of OSX, but not to OS 10.8.  I just set up a new iMac.  In booting I established the user admin name "Bob", which is the name I wanted to use permanently.  However, when I subsequently ran Migration Assistant to transfer all of our data from my wife's old iMac to the new iMac, I received a message that the user "Bob" on the old iMac would have to be renamed (e.g. Bob1), since you can not have two users with the same name.  What I want to end up with is to delete the Bob account that I used only to boot up the new iMac and check Software Updarte, and use my "Bob" user migrated from the old iMac.  But, I want the migrated account to be "Bob", not "Bob1".  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Admin user name changed, cannot login

My new MacBook Air took my username presumably from my iTunes login. Either way, all was fine until I amended my username (in my mackbook, not itunes).
Now when it boots up, it takes the original iTunes a/c username. When I type in my password though it shakes (fails).
Weirdly, my password is correct, it's the user that is wrong, but I'm unable to amend it.
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi,
Check how to deploy with SDM:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/43/1f1b46e7dd2bc5e10000000a114cbd/frameset.htm
The steps are to start SDM Server and then start SDM Client to connect to server. Then from client you can deploy.
For errors on SDM, check the SDM logs under: C:\usr\sap\<SID>\<instance>\SDM\program\log
Look there from the files which are created today and search for relavent errors.

  • New iMac won't accept admin user name or password..please help!

    hi there,
I just bought an imac 20 inch. Now it started up all good then I installed leopard and all seemed well, until I tried to software update. It asked for Admin name and password. I provided these and it just said 'You need to type an administrator's name and password to update', as if I didn't type anything at all.
Now I know my admin and password I am typing are correct as I can log out and on. So my next step was to re-install, but then I cannot do this without typing in admin and password which it just acts as if I don't write anything. I then tried to do the original disks holding 'c' then go to the password changer in 'utilities'...but wouldn't you know it it just crashes every time I open!
I am stuck and very frustrated... any help would be appreciated. I saw similar topics posted but none that really fit...please help. Thanks.....
PS- leopard kept on freezing on installation.

It sounds as though your user has account has changed from an administrator to a regular user. You need to do some things in order to get you changed back to an admin.

  • Admin User Name doesn't match Home Folder name

I did this to myself and now can't undo it. Just bought a MBP and ran thru the initial set up, which included naming my home folder. Then used Migration Assistant to bring all my stuff over from my old G4 PB. The home folder on the two computers had the same names, so Migration Asst wouldn't let me continue. I created a second folder with a new name on the MBP, migrated everything into it, made it an administrative user, then completely deleted the first folder (I think).
Now when I go into the User panel of System Preferences I only see the second folder, but when I go to the finder, the home folder has the name of the first user and it has no data in it. Terminal still opens to the name I deleted as well.
Is there a fix for this or do I need to use brute force (insert the Disc that came with the MBP and boot from it, wipe the hard drive clean, re-install the OS and bring it all to life from the Time Machine backup which I, fortunately, have created)?

Now have two empty users and no idea where my data went. Time to break out the install DVD and start again. At least I'll get to do a custom install and leave out all the foreign language support and printer drivers.
