E2000 issues

My computers have no issue if connected by wired to the Linksys E2000 with firmware v1.0.01
I try to connect wireless, but unable to access the intranet or internet.
I'm using WPA2-AES (Personal) and broadcasting at 2.4GHz with wireless b, g, and n. My computers get their IP and DNS address information. All computers have a Wireless G adapter.
I've tried to reboot by the web interface and by hard restart by unplugging and plugging back in. I have also tried turn on and off UPnP.
Any thoughts?
I noticed that I can't fully open my NAT when I have two Xbox 360's on the network. I can only get one out of two xbox's to have open NAT. When will this be fixed and when will E2000 be Xbox Live Compatible?

Who is your ISP...?
Make sure that your wireless computers/devices does support WPA2 security. Also, open the router setup page and Under the Wireless tab,For 2.4GHz...Change the Channel Width to 20MHz only and Channel to 11.
As you are using 2 X-Box's,try this link.

  • E2000 Xbox 360 wireless connection issues

My Xbox 360 will not connect to my Cisco E2000 wireless router. It can find the router, but when the Xbox tests the connection it can’t establish a connection with the router. Ironically when I try to use the guest account it can establish a connection with the router before I run in to trouble. Regardless I have looked in to the errors it gives me and they don’t help at all any suggestions will be appreciated.

What model is the xbox? 1st gen or Slim?
There are known issues with Slims WIFi adapter on this console.
Try setting single mode N, WPA2 only, Auto 20/40Mhz and manual channel 11 with Enable WMM turned ON.
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.metageek.net/support/metageek-software-archives/ to find out. Use v3. How many?

  • E2000 Gigabit/Megabit issue

I first tried the online chat and got rudely cut off.
The issue is I have three computers, all connected to the wired ethernet ports on the E2000 router and one of them cannot communicate properly with the other two. It turns out two of them are showing up with blue connection indicators, which means a megabit connection, and one is showing up with a green connection indicator, which means gigabit connection. The problem is if they are on different connections, the router has a serious flaw, it can't communicate properly between the two connections. My old router a Belkin did not have this issue because it didn't support gigabit connections, therefore every connection was defaulted to a megabit connection. When trying to explain this to the chat help guy he kept saying it isn't the router's fault. Well I am sorry, it is. It is the router that determines the capability of the ethernet cards in each computer and it is the router that assigned one a gigabit connection and the other two a megabit connection. There needs to be a setting in the router to allow some one to disable gigabit connections so that all connections will be megabit connections, or fix the communication issues between the two types of connections within the router. Does anyone know if there is a setting to disable the gigabit connections to allow me to use only the megabit connections if I have the need to?
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance.)

    Hello,
I´m having the same issues with my E2000 router.
My PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 are all connected through wire with the router. The problem is, my PC and PS3 are using the 1000 MBit/s connection, the Xbox is only capable of using the 100 Mbit/s connection (blue LED on the router).
When transferring files from my PC to my PS3, the speed is about 30 MB/s, which is ok, it´s not faster when using a direct connection between the systems, but when I´m transferring files to the Xbox, the speed is between 1,5 to max. 3MB/s. A direct connection with a crossover cable from PC to Xbox results in speeds at about 8 MB/s.
So when I switch my NIC on my PC from 1000 Mbit/s to 100 Mbit/s fullduplex, I´m getting the desired speed of 8 MB/s with the router.
Is this a known problem and is there a solution to this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • E2000 bonjour issue

I have an E2000 router that has an intermittent issue where Bonjour drops out. Suddenly my Apple TV won't see my computers, and my iPad won't see my network printer. This happens whether the Apple TV and computers are connected via wired or wireless interfaces.
Restarting the devices does not solve the issue.
Restarting the router solves the issue (until it happens again...)
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
My router is version 1.0, with 1.0.04 firmware.

hmmmmmm... what settings did you do on your router?
Try setting the wireless channel to 1, 6 or 11.  or try adjusting the MTU size.  here's how set the MTU size:  http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=386
If none of that works, you could reflash the router's firmware.  by that I mean, try reinstalling the 1.0.04 firmware.  That's how some people in the Forums have fixed their router.
You could also try the tips here:

  • E2000 bricked? Blinking light issue

My E2000 was working without a single issue up until I moved. Then I went to plug it in to set it up again, and its busted. I tried a  30/30/30 reset, but it doesn't work, sometimes the power light stays on solid with a twitch of flickering, or it'll just rapidly blink. I tried the ftp solution to put firmware back onto it, but the program cannot communicate with the wireless router. When I try to ping it, it will either return a 'request timed out' or 'destination host unreachable'. What is there to do? Thank you for your time.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for sharing, guys. Getting a new power adapter is easier than having the whole unit replaced.

  • E2000 Firmware issue

I recently upgraded the E2000 to the most recent firmware and have found all devices have dropped in speed. All computers connected to this router had always maintained a reported speed of 300mb, now they are reporting 130mb and nothing I can do (or have done) changes that.
Is there something in this firmware that changed settings that I'm missing?
    Please help

I understand that, but in order to have it function at all I had to go back to those settings. I no longer have access to the old firmware or  would have re-flashed with that.
At this point, it's academic. After talking with support it has been determined that the device is defective and will be RMA'd
    Thanks for your help.

  • E2000 Range & Speed Issues

    Hello all,
I just installed a Cisco E2000 router that I've owned since 2010 at my mother's apartment, replacing a WRT54G or something like that.  Ever since the installation, my mother has had a few complaints.  The wireless connection drops out in the far corners of the apartment.  The place isn't very big (maybe 1350 square feet?) and the old Linksys router never had this problem.  She also complained that the connection seems slow in other areas of the apartment.
I've come over several times and altered the settings, but nothing seems to be helping.  My mother has a MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone 5 and I've been running speedtests and monitoring signal strength on the devies in various areas of the apartment. I've tried 5ghz, 2.4 ghz, mixed network mode, n-only, bg mixed, etc.  I've also tried altering the MTU, Fragmentation threshold and the RTS threshold.  Nothing seems to have any influence.  The iPad and iPhone start to lose the connection around 30 feet from the router.  Also, when they have a solid signal at this distance, they can only manage around 1.7 mbps download speed.
The router is running the current firmware.
I've since started fresh with the default settings.  Any ideas on what to try next before I throw it out the window?

    Hi,
Have you performed a hard reset? If you did, starting from scratch, try to focus on the 2.4Ghz settings. From there, try playing around with the channel (from Auto to 1, 3, 6, 9 or 11) with WPA2 Personal and AES encryption. Don't touch anything on Fragmentation and RTS threshold. You can also play around with MTU settings (just deduct 8 bits starting from the default 1500).
No further help with it's stock firmware as the latest firmware was released around 3 years ago. But if you would like to unleash your router and have some sort of adventure, you may check this link.
If everyone needs to believe in something, I believe I'll have another beer..

  • Linksys E2000 - DHCP Table Issue

    Hi,
I am trying to see what devices are connected to my router be it through LAN or Wireless. However in the DHCP Clients table, all it shows is the LAN connection even by selecting the different "sort" menus. I read on a forum to upgrade firmware to build 7, which it is already on. I did it again to make sure but issue persists. Talking to support, they told me to do a factory reset and then reconfigure router again, which i just did and yet the same issue continues.
Has anyone encountered this same issue and if so, i would be grateful if you could provide me with the resolution.
Is build 7 the latest version of fireware?
    Thanks in advance.
    Chris.

To see my entire wireless clients connected I usually go to Wireless tab then click on Wireless Mac Filter then select the Enabled and click the button for WIRELESS CLIENT LIST

  • E2000 NAT issues with my xbox. ive tried everything please help!

ive tried the dmz port range triggering, forwarding. ive done it all please help me all i want to do is a play  little online.

what is the modem that you are using? some internet provider use a modem/router instead of a 'modem only' device.
if it is a modem/router they  have NAT enabled, and this would cause Double NAT on the modem and on the linksys router, which would cause the port forwarding setup not to work.
if that is the case you need to ask your provider to set your modem/router to bridge mode or work as modem only. when that is done, then you can proceed to port forwarding by following the instructions here

  • Linksys E2000 Suddenly Choppy When Playing HD Videos

So quick back story. I stream a lot of 720p HD video over my network (both local storage and Internet streaming). I bought the E2000 about 5-6 months ago after my last router stopped working, and it has been working flawlessly up until now.
So a few days ago, I was streaming a live basketball game, and noticed that all of a sudden, it would no longer stream at 3Mbps HD quality (or even 1.5Mbps or 800Kbps; I had to drop it to the lowest setting of 300Kbps to stream, and even then it was iffy). I thought...well, maybe this service is getting more popular, and they just need to fix their pipe.
Then, last night, I went to watch a locally-stored HD video (720p, around 4-5Mbps), which is something I've done almost everyday for the last six months with this router, and when I went to play it, the movie would play for maybe 4-6 minutes without any trouble, and then suddenly, it would just start stuttering (i.e. play 5-10 frames, freeze for 1/4 second, play, freeze, and repeat for the next 20-30 seconds of the movie). It would then play fine again for 5-10 minutes, and then suddenly do the same. It would repeat this process throughout the entire course of the movie.
Now, keep in mind, I've made NO changes to my setup, networking, Internet connection, or file server. I decided to bring up a network monitor to look at the connection while a video was playing, and this is the result:
    http://www.screencast.com/t/N886Il6rE
You can see the normal spikes of data transmission on the left and right of the graph, but then the connection just drops off in the middle. That exactly corresponds to where the video begins to get choppy. Then, when it starts to spike again, the movie beings playing smoothly.
    Things I've tried:
    - I was running in mixed G/N mode, so I tried switching to N-only (only one of my computers has an N adapter, so this would not be ideal for the moment). No luck, still choppy.
    - Tried restarting every single computer, including file server. Still choppy.
    - Tried making sure the router wasn't overheating. We live in a cold region, I stuck it against a window that was 30 degrees F in temperature. Still choppy.
    - I tried changing some of the packet size/frequency settings in the "Advanced" section of wireless setup, messed with the frequency, changed the channels, etc. Still choppy.
    - I checked to make sure I have the latest firmware for the router, I do.
    - Played with relocating all of my antennas and such, even putting them in unsightly places to make sure I'd get a strong signal. Still choppy.
I can't really think of anything else to try, and it's just so odd that this has worked without any trouble for months now. It has to be the wireless function on the router, because when I try streaming it with a wired connection, it works just fine. The ONLY difference I noticed (and I don't know when this happened) is that one of my neighbors set up an N-router, which hasn't been there before. They moved in maybe 1-2 months ago, so I'm guessing that the router has been around for that long, or slightly less...which perhaps could coincide with my timeline for this not working anymore. Could that be a possible issue, and if so...way around it (again, note I've already tried changing channels, etc. I can't run on 5.0GHz frequency because my adapter doesn't support it).
    Thanks!

Hey, I have the exact same issue.
Had this e2000 for over 2 years and never a real issue with it.
Suddenly -- 3 days ago, it started doing this same thing. Fine internet then spiking and dropping occasionally, making playing games/streaming live video imposible. I had made no changes, attached no new devices, or done anything out of the ordinary.
I tried all the same tactics you did. Power Cycled, rebooted computers, power cycled modem etc. I propped it up on some bottle caps to make sure it was getting ventilation (remember though, it hasn't moved from its location in over a year), and then I updated the firmware to the latest version. As part of the firmware reset, I did a hard reset and a power cycle to reset all the settings and then manually configred them myself. Still having these issues.
The wired internet is fine, as one of my roommates can use it and I can connect to it and use it on this curent computer.
    Any answers?

  • EA4500 – Smart Wi-Fi interface and Windows Network Map issues

I purchased this Router about 2 weeks ago as a phased upgrade of our Home Network, primarily to enhance media streaming. It has the latest firmware preinstalled from the factory. Prior to the purchase and installation of the EA4500 Router I replaced my old Motorola SurfBoard SB6120 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem with a Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem. My old Linksys E2000 Router worked perfectly with the SB6141, with the exception that the E2000 wasn’t IPv6 enabled, but does have 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet (RJ-45) and Internet ports.
The EA4500 has been installed for about 10 days and seems to have improved local network speeds and I don’t seem to be having any Internet connectivity issues. However, there are some disturbing issues with the EA4500 and the AE3000 I purchased. There are 11 devices connected through the Router; a Dell Desktop (wireless with the AE3000), a Dell Desktop (Ethernet), a Dell Laptop (wireless), 2 Canon Printers (1 Ethernet and 1 Wireless), 2 Western Digital 1TB MyBookLive Network Drives (both Ethernet), a WD TV Live Streaming Media Player (wireless), an Apple TV media player (wireless), an iPad (wireless), and an Android Smartphone (wireless).
Issue 1 – The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi interface appears to be unreliable at times!!! I’ve read about this problem here on the Community involving the EA6500, so I don’t know if this is a Linksys Server issue, as suggested in a few responses, or a bug in the Router firmware, or defective hardware. However, when the interface locks up, it can’t be accessed from a wireless or wired connection. Usually, powering down the Router and then powering it back up and restart will allow it to function again. However, at times before the interface completely locks up it shows either just a white screen or the security screen will show no firewall features enabled. This is a little scary, so I’ll do a complete reset and setup; this is becoming a pain in the rear!!!!! Is there any hope for this being fixed, in this Router, not the next generation??????????
Issue 2 - All of my network devices show up in the Router’s Device List. Except for the Apple devices they also show up, when they are online, in Windows 7 Explorer under Network and when you click on Network they are correctly displayed as Computers, Media Devices, Network Infrastructure, or Storage. However, when you click on “Open Network and Sharing Center” and then click on “See Full Map”; it fails with the response “Windows cannot create the network map. Responses from other devices on the network are delayed or there is an incompatible router on the network”; no device map is shown. When I follow the link for more information, the only thing that stands out is “A device on the network, such as a hub or switch, is not working properly or is not compatible with the Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) protocol, which Windows uses to create the map. To fix this problem, disable the device, turn it off, or remove it from your network”. All of my network devices showed up on the Network Map with the old E2000. This issue is the same on all of my computers, either wired or wireless. Any known solutions for this, or is it as Windows suggests; an incompatible Router????
Thanks in advance for any insight or solutions. With the issues I’m having with the EA4500 and the AE3000; they are both probably going back to Amazon.

thebluemamba_24; Thank you for your suggestion; I finally found time yesterday to perform an extensive evaluation before I return the Router. However, rather than trying to add devices manually, my rationale was if the EA4500 can’t process them correctly, automatically, it needs to be returned anyway, so I added devices normally letting the device an Router handle the process.
In thinking through this issue, all devices on our network are detected and identified by Windows Explorer on Windows 7 computers; except of course the Apple and Android devices (Apple TV, iPad, and Smartphone). So, I wondered if one of those three devices being added to the Router’s device list was somehow causing issues or interfering with Windows 7’s ability to generate a Network Map. Therefore, my approach was to turn off or disable all devices on our network, reset the Router to factory defaults, reestablish the Router to my custom Home Network configuration using a Windows 7 PC that has LAN and Wireless access to the Router, then add one device at a time and check with each addition to see if Windows 7 could still generate a Network Map.
With the Router reset and reestablishment complete; I began the process of adding one device at a time and checking to see if a Network Map was being generated. What I discovered was when a recent addition to the network, a Western Digital WD TV Live Streaming Media Player, was connected (wirelessly), Windows 7 could no longer generate the Network Map and the failure was consistent. The only way to get the Network Map to work again was to remove power from the WD TV Live, although it remained in the EA4500’s Device List; simply turning it off didn’t help. Since I’d originally witnessed the Windows 7 Network Map working with the Linksys E2000 Router that the EA4500 replaced, I decided to test the WD TV Live with that Router. It worked initially, but it failed consistently after the first success. Interestingly, the failure indication was a little different, but nevertheless generation of the Network Map failed.
I’ve tried changing a few settings on the EA4500 as well as the WD TV Live, but nothing helped. There was a recent firmware update to the WD TV Live, so I might try rolling back the firmware to see if it makes a difference.
The Network Map issue might very well be an issue with the WD TV Live, not the Router, but after reading many threads on this Community I have reservations that the problems I’m experiencing with the Smart interface lockup will be fixed. I suspect new emerging replacement products will be the focus and these older products will be abandoned and no more firmware fixes will be forthcoming and I don’t want to spend more money for a new product just to fix old problems and get something that works properly. The Network Map issue is troublesome, but the lockup of the Router’s “Linksys Smart Wi-Fi” interface is a serious matter to me. It appears that once it locks up, the only way to correct it is a power off restart; not practical if you’re traveling and trying to access settings remotely; the selling point for this feature.
Given the problems I’m experiencing with the EA4500 and AE3000, I guess I’ll return them. Too bad, because otherwise the EA4500 seems like it’s a good Router. I’ve been brand loyal since the Linksys WRT54G came out, but after reading this Community and with my personal experience with the EA4500 and AE3000, now I’ll probably give the NETGEAR N900 equivalents a try.

  • I can't be the only one with this issue. MacBook Pro Retina Late-2013 WiFi disconnects after waking up from sleep.

Did anyone buy a MacBook Pro Retina 13" from Best Buy this Black Friday?
I'm having an issue where the WiFi disconnects after the MacBook wakes from sleep but only after a couple of minutes.
Once the WiFi disconnects, I can't reconnect to the same network and sometimes it won't find nearby networks.
I have to turn off the WiFi and wait for at least 5 seconds before turning it back on for it to auto-reconnect to my home network.
If I wait less than 5 seconds, it will continue to attempt connection to the home network but won't connect.
I've tried reformatting and deleting my network configurations as well as resetting my modem, power cycling it, etc.
    I am using 2Wire Gateway modem/router from AT&T on b/g network.
I've tried connecting to a friend's network under Time Warner Cable and the same issue occurs.
I exchanged the MacBook at a Best Buy for a brand unopened one (I hope) and the same exact thing happens with this new one.
Really, I can't be the only one with this issue. Unless in a 0.00001% chance I received two defective units in a row?
Please.. does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

You're definitely not the only one.  I have the same issue.  I spent 6 hours over multiple days on the phone with Apple support trying a variety of things (some of which are mentioned above), and none of them worked.  They finally sent me a replacement laptop.  I made sure to try it periodicaly as I was moving files and installing applications to see if I ran into it again and things seemed okay at first but now I am running into the same issue and it is terribly annoying.  I've got 5 other devices that connect to the same router and I've never had this issue with any of them.
My router is a Linksys E2000.  I haven't tried changing the router channel but I have tried to cnnecting to other networks in the building I live in and I have run into the same issue there.

  • Wireless Sync issue with Windows 7

I just picked up my new Droid X on Sat(with the 2.2 software already installed) and love it. I was playing around with the wireless sync options, media share, DLNA etc. I have a newer Sony Vaio with Windows 7 64 bit and. My computer has no problem seeing the Droid through Windows Media player or in my home group network(Linksys E2000 router). However the Droid cannot see the PC through Media sharing option/simple file sharing/ or DNLA. It of course has no issue connected USB which I can live with that. Also The Droid and my PC do see each other via bluetooth but it will not pair. I was just curious if anyone out ther with W7 has run into this issue and determined a fix for it this.

Plug the Droid in and then find the device driver, remove the device driver, restart windows and your Droid and try again.

  • Linksys E2000 router is incompatible with Linux?

Hi All, I have Cisco/Linksys E2000 router setup for home wireless network. I had been setup while ago and well working since then. Now the challenge: I need to know or to change the wireless guest network password. Linux support says it can be done ONLY using a local application, not the web interface. And only from Windows computer. In my situation, I have Linuxes, blackberry, players and other network equipment but no Microsoft software. I did not know that router doesn't work with Linux when I bought it. Had anybody resolved similar issue? Thanks Yu

Sorry the software is only supported on Windows or MAC.  You will need this to administer the Guest network.

  • E2000 NAT Problems for Multiple Xbox Consoles

    Hey there.
My brothers and I recently all split the cost of a new E2000 Linksys router. I just got it home and set it up and it solved most of the issues we had been having with our Xbox's (kicking us offline, not allowing sign ins, etc.) which was wonderful. But now, we all hopped on to play a game and saw that one of us had an Open NAT, and the other two had Strict NAT's. I checked around a few posts here and followed a few instructions, and successfully got the 2 Strict NAT's to turn into Moderate NAT's. The only issue is thats still not enough. With a Moderate NAT, it isn't allowing me to join voice parties with my friends, simply stating it can't connect. It is driving me insane. Does anyone have any form of helpful hint for us? Remember, its for THREE Xbox's, running at the same time most of the time. I called Linksys and (after checking through his references) they told me it was a physical impossibility for 3 Xbox's to play on one router, but wouldn't explain to me how it had been working without a hitch, prior to recent problems, for 2 years So if anyone has an idea as to how I can get this working for the three of us, you'd have my undying gratitude. Thanks in advance!

I think you might have forwarded the ports on the router for the IP address of the Xbox. Instead of port forwarding use port Triggering. Change the MTU size to 1365. Disable the UPnP. Go to Security tab and uncheck the box 'Filter anonymous internet request'.
