E2000 keeps losing internet connection on Motorola SBV5121 Cable Modem

I bought a E2000 last week. Used my wired PC to setup which failed as it said internet connection not detected.
tried reinstalling after powercycling the modem and routers but still it could not detect the internet.
I used my friends macbook pro to setup router wirelessless and the E2000 + internet connected successfully.
I connected my PC using ethernet and it worked bingo! Shortlived as in 2 days again no internet was detected. Now i have tried everything but no avail. My friend out of town so cannot try reinstalling it using Mac book.
Any known issues with the cable modem and Linksys E2000?
Thanks
Akshay

Bypass the router and connect your computer directly to the modem.
Make sure that you can access the Internet when you connect the computer directly to the modem.
If you can access the Internet through the modem then try to configure the router manually.
Connect the modem to the Internet port and computer to Ethernet port on the router. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Now try to reconfigure the router manually.
Follow this link to configure the router with CABLE Internet service.

  • Do they have plans to fix the bugs with Yosemite.  I keep losing internet connection on my Mac Book

Ever since i installed Yosemite on my Mac Book pro i keep losing internet connection.  Should I go back to mavericks because I just hate this Yosemite or do they plan to fix the bugs soon?  I did a complete clean install and I am still having problems.  I see a lot of complicated solutions and I am not that tech savvy to go into my settings.  Thanks

All software has bugs. The first release (which you have) will be the worst.
Many advocate not upgrading to a new operating system until it's been out for 3 months or longer. In the Windows world many recommend not upgrading until a full year has passed.
So yes, most / some bugs and glitches will get fixed over time.   If you wish to reduce your difficulties in the future wait a while before installing ANY new OS.
I suggest you post specific details on your Internet problems. How are you connected etc.

  • Keep losing internet connection

I keep losing my wireless internet connection even though my wireless network connection says it's workinig. Today I can't access the website for 192.168.1.1 to try to fix it. any help?

  • I keep losing internet connection

I have an IMac and for some reason I keep losing connection to the internet. I am using the Airport Extreme as my router. The router seems to be fine. My PC does not have any problem staying connected to the internet. When I look at settings the it appears that I am connected to the Airprt extreme on my IMac but I have no internet. I have to shut down the Iport and then reconnect. Evertime I do I will have internet for 1 second to 2 minutes and then it will drop again. I can't figure this one out! Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been having the same problems. I have tried unplugging, plugging everything back in. Opening airport utilities etc... My younger computers have no problem connecting no matter what the situation is. I feel that I have to tell the IMac what to do vs finding the network on its own. It is extremely frustrating what is happening. I've had my IMac for less then 5 months I do not understand. Sorry I did not help you with your problem, but I needed to vent my same frustrations!!! Apple PLEASE help!

  • Time capsule keeps losing internet connection

I seem to keep losing the internet connection, and this seems to be when Time Capsule is doing backups. It is fine most of the time, it seems to have an IP address, but I can't connect to the internet. This seems to happen when it is doing backups. Have I got the time capsule set up correctly? I am using it with BT Home Hub which is also a wireless router, and I have set up Time Capsule to join the same wireless network. Most of the time it works fine. It also works fine when connected via ethernet, so I don't think there is anything wrong with the Time Capsule, maybe just the way it's set up. Or does it always behave like that? Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I have Snow Leopard 10.6.3, I don't have 10.6.4 yet though am just about to install it, so it can't just be related to 10.6.4.
This morning when I booted up, I had lost my desktop background picture, the clock was wrong and my keychains seemed to be messed up. Nothing else seemed to be wrong, but I restored a backup anyway, and repaired the keychains. I don't know whether this had anything to do with Time Capsule or not, but I have my suspicions. At the moment I have connected the Mac to the Time Capsule by ethernet, and that seems to be OK, but I'd like to be able to put the Time Capsule in another room, to extend the range of the wireless network. I did wonder if there could be interference between Time Capsule and the Home Hub, as they are quite close to each other.
I do not seem to have any problems when using my Macbook Pro.

  • Sorry to ask a popular question but....I keep losing internet connection...

    Afternoon,
I recently bought an iMac (about a month ago) - I am quite new to the Mac world and have posted a couple of questions previously. I am using Mac OS X version 10.7.2 - 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 (although I'm sure you can see that from here?)
I have noticed that I lose internet connection frequently which hasn't particurly impressed me as I then browse Safari on my iphone without issues. I use Virgin broadband (20mb) although no one ever gets that much I know! ;-)
I am also on a wireless connection - yes I could plug an ethernet cable in but why should I be needing to? I'm a little annoyed as I've spent a lot of money on this computer which I do love dearly, however, I do understand that nothing is perfect and on the mega annoying side, my friends keep slating me saying "See? Told you Macs are crap...blah blah..."
This never happened when I did have a PC so why does this seem to happen with Macs?
The reason I bought a Mac was purely because it is a lovely machine, it is pretty and I did actually think that I'd be having pretty much null problems with one. I also am a bit of a photographer and the screen on this Mac is amazing and pretty awesome for editing my photos. My old Gateway laptop died of BIOS death and lasted a record breaking 6 years. Prior to that, I had another laptop which was crap and died after two years, then a PC before then which was unspeakably awful. Many friends of mine have macs that have been with them for 10 years minimum, this was why I decided to buy one, for longevity purposes!
Anyway, I am sorry to ramble on but, is there something that I can do about this persistent interruption of internet? Can I do something to configure my settings?
Would really appreciate thoughts, views and some help of course. ;-)
    Thanks very much
    Pandora

Sometimes it's an interference issue related to all the items that use 2.4Ghz frequency.
    Quote from attached article:
If you experience less-than-optimal performance on your wireless network due to interference from other wireless devices, you may be able to reduce the effect of interference by changing to a different channel on your wireless network. Less-than-optimal performance may be characterized by low signal strength in the AirPort menu bar, slow connection to the Internet, or slow file transfers between wireless computers. Simply reset the AirPort base station and it will attempt to use the 2.4 and 5GHz channels with the least interference when it starts up.

Also in your router, use WPA2 security.  WEP doesn't work well with new Macs.

  • OS X 10.9.2 (13C1021) keeps losing internet connection

All devices on the same wifi are working but my iMac keeps losing connection, any suggestions?  I have an older iMac and that one also works fine.  Even when I "wire" the iMac, I still have the same issue.  The lose connect typically happens periodically and when it does, I lose connect for several minutes before it returns.

Several things to try. First is I get the devices work OK, however reset the router and modem and then restart the iMac in Safe Mode and then restart normally and  test.
If that does not work try the steps Apple explains in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5606

  • Server 2008R2 in ESXi 5.1 keeps losing internet connection

I'm running Server 2008 in ESXi 5. I have a local domain controller in my house and it also handles the DHCP for my other computers. It seems
that every week or so I end up losing my internet connection.  I have 2 NICS on the server one connecting to my router for an external address and the other connecting to a switch for my internal address in which the computers connect to, to get their
IP addresses from the server. Something happens where my server, even though it shows its connected doesn't work when I load up a webpage in a browser. If I try and disable the External NIC from from inside Server 2008 it seems to freeze up and I have to reboot.
Now when the internet doesn't work I just reboot and once it comes up then the internet comes up fine.  I've tried changing from the physical E1000 to the VMXNet3 to see if that solves the problem and it doesn't.  I just think its ridiculous to have
to reboot like every week. When I was running Server 2003 on a physical machine I never had this problem.  Any thoughts? I'm at wits end.
    Thanks
    Adam

Sounds like a configuration problem with ESXi. You should contact VMware:

  • My apple tv keeps losing internet connection. I'm going from modem to airport and from airport to apple tv. I've replaced the modem and the apple tv and it still does it. Internet to my laptop via the airport wifi is fine and never drops out.

I keep having to restart it every time I want to use it. Sometimes I have to restart it multiple times. The cord goes from the cable modem to the airport and then from the airport to the apple tv. I've replaced the apple TV and I've replaced the modem and the problem persists. I assume it has to be the aiport? But the wifi from the airport works fine.
I tried bypassing the airport and going straight from the modem to the apple tv and it wouldn't work. That makes no sense to me.
I had a friend over to try and figure it out and he couldn't. Any idea what could be the problem??

The Ethernet cable from the modem should be connected to the AirPort's WAN (circle of dots) port and a second Ethernet cable should be connected between the AirPort's LAN (opposing arrows) port and the Ethernet port on the Apple TV. Is this the case?
If so, what is the make & model of the modem that the AirPort is connected to. Also what is the exact model of both the AirPort and the Apple TV?

  • Keep losing internet connection since installing Yosemite

After installing Yosemite on three Macs I am unable to maintain consistent internet connection on two of them. One with ethernet connection requires repeated rebooting of the router, and the other mac (wi-fi) requires going through systems preferences\network\diagnostics repeatedly. The third mac is operating just fine.
    Any ideas would be helpful.

I have exact same issue. Worked perfectly before Yosemite. After Yosemite, connection to Internet and Server drop out continually, every 15 minutes or so. Other MAC works perfectly on the same connection. Have already verified that the cables, router ports, etc are working fine.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated, as the frequency of drop-out makes it unusable.

  • Why do I keep losing internet connection on my iPhone 4

This happens quite often. I will lose Internet connection and can't use any of my apps, but the 3G sign is still showing. There are no obvious indicators suggesting that I have lost Internet connection until I try to go on an app. I've tried turning my phone on and off and turning flight mode on and off, but it still continues.

    Hello Nattynoonnooz,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are having cellular data connection issues with your iPhone 4. I imagine the issues do not persist if you connect to a Wi-Fi network? The following troubleshooting assistant may help to resolve this issue:
Apple - Support - iPhone - Calls Troubleshooting Assistant
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/calls/#section_1
For more in-depth troubleshooting, see the following article:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3780
Follow the instructions below for assistance with troubleshooting cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, please test to see if the issue is resolved.
    1. Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    2. Restart your iPhone.
    3. Ensure that your software is up to date:
              - Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
              - Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update. Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
    4. Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
    5. If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
    6. Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrier to report the issue.
    7. Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    8. Restore the iPhone as new.
    9. Contact your carrier to:
              - Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
              - Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
              - Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare to troubleshoot further.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Keep losing internet connection!!  Please help!!

I'm connected to the internet using ATT DSL Built-In Ethernet. On a daily basis I will lose my internet connection. This is extremely frustrating. Please reply with any helpful suggestions.
    thanks,
    matt

I have the same problem, both on my iMac and Mac Mini. I had several calls in with a case number and so far, the last call seems to have fixed the problem. I have a DSL modem that is in bridge mode for supporting 2 Linksys routers, one wired, one wireless. Sleep is part of the problem, as the IPA does not appear to refresh on waking up and another device may be using that IPA
First, we created a new location. Go to system preferences, network, location (where it defaults to Automatic) and add a new location. A good tip was to use todays date, in case you add additional ones. Select that location and hit apply. The system was restarted, then put in sleep mode to see if the internet would connect after sleep. Internet connection remained, however, the test would be overnight. Next recommendation was to change the client lease time on the router for IPA. The default is 1 day, which may mean the lease expired when the computer was asleep, and hence requires a manual renew. I changed the time to the maximum, which was advised was OK if there are not a lot of devices.
So far, so good. If the problem continues, I will assign manual addresses on the Macs versus using automatic DHCP.

  • IMac keeps losing internet connection

Hi I have just bought an iMac.  Unpacked, set up, and away I go.
Problem.  Every 30 secs or so, the internet connection stops!  Only on the iMac.  I have an iPhone 4 and iPad 2 and they are both connected to the internet using the same WIFI in my house.
Is there a known problem here your help would be very appreciated.
    Thanks.
