E2000 max wireless-n speed 72 Mbps?

I just bought a refurbished E2000 wireless-n router with 1 Gb LAN ports (from Cisco online).
This router is meant to replace my Netgear wireless-n router that only have 100 Mb LAN ports.
I have 10 devices in my home network, 6 of them are using wireless (1 'g' and 5 'n') and 4 are interconnected with cat5e cables (trough the router).
The devices have some different operating systems and their network adapters are from different brands.
When I set up the Netgear router I didn't have to adjust anything for the wireless network to work fine.
All wireless-n devices worked at 150 Mbps (sometimes going down shortly to 130 Mbps).
The wireless-g device worked at 54 Mbps.
For the last 2 days I've been trying to set up the E2000 to achieve a wireless-n speed higher then 72 Mpbs... without success.
I tried all the suggestions that I found in the Cisco Knowledge Base.
- Upgrading the firmware to the latest version
- Trying different channels and channel widths
- Different wireless security methods
and many others.
Also trying different settings on the different devices doesn't help.
Changing the distance between router and devices as well as changing the location of the router don't affect the results.
Switching on only 1 device at a time doesn't change anything either.
It looks like the E2000 is set to not transmit on a higher speed than 72 Mbps, when it's actually supposed to achieve a wireless-n speed of up to 300 Mbps. I would be lucky if I get the half of it, but not if it's only one fourth.
Is there some hint somebody can give me?
Thanks!

According to the information that you provided in your post that after upgrading the firmware you didn’t reset the Router to factory default and configured again…. So reset the router power cycle the whole network and then reconfigure it again… As well as update the drivers of the WLAN card installed in the wireless computers….
So if you want to configure the Router with the help of the Cisco Connect Software then…
You need to uninstall the existing Cisco Connect Software from the computer if there...
Reset the Router and power cycle the network...
Make the following connectivity: Connect the Modem with the Router on the Internet port and then connect the Computer with any one of the Ethernet port of the Router (Numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4)... Then install the Cisco Connect Software...
It will help you in configuring the Router...
But if you want to configure it manually the follow the following steps…
For DSL Connection:

  • BEFW11S4 max wireless download speed?

What is the maximum download speed that can be achieved wirelessly with the BEFW11S4 router?

Thanks for the reply.  When I hook my laptop up to the router with a wired connection, I'm getting 4.5 Mbit/s download speed.  However, when I'm connected through the wireless connection I'm only getting 1.5 Mbit/s.  After doing an internet search, it seems like there can be a lot of things causing this.  Any ideas of what to try first to improve my wireless download speed?  The hardware involved is the router mentioned, a Dell XPS M140 laptop running XP, and Qwest DSL.

  • Why max WiFi download speeds are only 20-25 Mbps

I raised the issue of why my wifi speed on the Xoom is limited to 20-25 Mbps on the Motorola Forum and there is an informative thread on the topic.  If you are interested take a look.

No cordless phone (two iPhones and two iPads though).  It does have one or two walls on line of sight.  A few wireless door security zones.  And a large china cabinet that my wife sure wouldn't let me move.  Do any of these sound significant enough to drop the dowload from 30Gb to .1GB...while upload stays consistent.  I have had better signal strength through two walls 100 feet out from my house, havent tried recently though.  I am suddenly aware as my switch is acting up and i had to use wifi on my xbox.

  • WRT54GX2 slow wireless 5.5 mbps speed help please

So I just received my WRT54GX2 and got it hooked up. Here are some details of my equipment which are all experiencing the same issue while connected via wireless.
1 Dell Inspiron wireless G. (updated latest driver)
1 Toshiba laptop wireless G (not sure on driver yet)
1 custom tower with wireless G (updated latest driver)
WRT54GX2 ver 2 with firm ware 1.00.08 (just updated)
Comcast 6 Meg cable internet service with Motorolla cable modem
Here is the problem I am experiencing.
After configuring the WPA2/TKIP settings and getting everybody logged on, the wireless connectivity speed (reported via the windows XP wireless utility) indicates connection speeds of 5.5 Mbs. If I disable the adapter and re-enable it, it connects and is at 54 Mbps for about 1 second, then rapidly drops down to the 5.5 which is where it stays. This problem is replicated on all 3 PC's on the wireless. I have tried adjusting the beacon interval down to 50, even went down to 10 with no result. I changed the RTS threshhold to 2304. Tried setting the transmission rate from auto to 54 Mbps. I tried adjusting the RWIN settings on my PC as suggested in another post here where somebody was experiencing a similar problem. I have installed the Microsoft WPA2 patch (893357) and that made no difference either. I have switched to G only instead of mixed mode. Tried channels 1, 11, 7, 6, and probably most of the others. Moved the router around to different locations in the room. Even sitting within arms reach of it, I still only see the 5.5 Mbps (I have full signal strength BTW). I ran netstumbler and found very few wireless networks within range. And the ones that were had very weak signals. Short of unplugging my cordless phone, I am at a loss of things to try. I may reset the router and try a new config from scratch, but if there is any help on this subject it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

After a firmware upgrade, you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch.  If you have not done this since your last firmware upgrade, please do this now.   If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it.
There are many causes for poor wireless connections, and many solutions:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
Also, try to locate the router about 4 to 6 feet above the floor, in an open area. Do not locate it behind your monitor or near other computer equipment or speakers. The antenna should be vertical.
Also, in the computer, go to your wireless software, and go to "Preferred Networks" (sometimes called "Profiles" ). There are probably a few networks listed. Delete any network named "linksys". Also delete any network that you do not recognize, or that you no longer use. If your current network is not listed, enter its info (SSID, encryption (if any), and key (if any) ). Then select your current network and make it your default network, and set it to automatic login. You may need to go to "settings" to do this, or you may need to right click on your network and select "Properties" or "settings".
If the above does not fix your problem, download and install the latest driver for all your wireless cards.  Note that often the speed of your wireless network is determined by the "weakest link" in your system.  You might want to try to isolate the problem by turning on each wireless computer separately, then two at a time.  You might be able to tell which computer is bringing down your wireless speed.
If you still have trouble, try the following.
For wireless g routers, try setting the "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps. For wireless n routers, try setting the "n Transmission Rate" to 162 Mbps, and the (wireless g) "Transmission Rate" to 54 Mbps.
    Hope this helps.

  • Ipod Touch 5 Gen Max wireless speeds?

    Hello guys,
Im curious which are the max download/upload speeds you get using this device? somebody knows the official limits?
    Thanks in advance
I know this depends of the band, channel, router, wifi distance, however i want to know the speeds limits of this device.

Doing a speedt test to my ISP server i get:
    52mb download
    34.4mb upload
    Anyone getting more?

  • Wireless transfer speed is hopeless!

    Hi,
New BT customer here, after being with aol for nearly 10 years I thought it was time for a change. Why-o-why?
I used to have a netgear 834g router which worked fine, signal would drop a touch upstairs and broadband 8mb with aol, but they could not offer me an all-in package, Wireless transfer speed of 54mbps with a netgear wv111v2 g adapter.
So I decided to change to BT(07/06/2010) to have it all under one roof, Total Broadband they call it, Total **** I call it.
Since the changeover my wireless transfer speed upstairs will be lucky to achieve 24mbps and the signal is shocking ranges from low to can't be bothered. So, I bought a new Belkin 'N' F5D8053v6 adapter to achieve best range and speed. No change in fact, it is worse than the old adapter, Dodgy adapter maybe? No, because I then bought the singing n' dancing Netgear N 300 mbps Wn111v2 adapter and it is still rubbish 24mbps max.
I am not a computer nerd, but I can set up a network after going through all this before, having two kids who are computer nuts sees to that.
I have changed/reinstalled everything, changed the channels; WEP, WPA-Sk; refitted old adapter, sat on top the BT hub; scoured forums, all to no avail the signal and transfer rate is still the same.
Off to India it was, to have the mis-fortune of speaking to one of the most rude, abrasive customer service personel. They would not listen to what I told them, accused me of entering the wrong password; ignored me on the phone whilst talking to someone else, done some checks remotely whilst I was still on line and said the speed was the best I could achieve, after an endless amount of time on the phone, It was the brick wall with open doorway between me and the hub 5 yards away causing the drop. All non believable.
Well I have just come off the phone and it's still the same, I have had to change the channels 5 times since to try and get a constant signal.
The BT hub say tranfer rate of 130mbps when I only have 24mbps according to my adapter, so who is lying?
My line is fine, I live less than 2 miles form exchange and if I connect through ethernet I get 6.5mb, wireless it drops to 2.5mb upload 0.4mb.
Please BT come and take this useless equipment away and I will go back to aol's basic kit. I won't hold it against you, but it is far superior in every way.

herbie9 your own post said that and I quote "I used to have a netgear 834g router which worked fine, signal would drop a touch upstairs and broadband 8mb with aol, but they could not offer me an all-in package, Wireless transfer speed of 54mbps with a netgear wv111v2 g adapter." Like Sweeney47 says use that and just configure it for BT access. Plenty of links in here to help with that. The only other answer for you will be to use a powerline adpater pair to another WAP upstairs and that will give you the signal downstairs and up. should be able to pick up a cheap WAP for under £20 and the powerline adpaters vary but I have seen them for £30 and up. Quality counts on the powerline though. Must be an enviromental issue regards wireless signal.

  • Wireless Routers & Speeds

What types of routers & speeds are people getting with their iPads? I've got Comcast Digital Cable for my ISP here in Jacksonville, Florida with a RCA cable modem.
I've been using Cisco SpeedTest, SpeedtextX HD, and Speed Test.net and on average, I'm getting about 10 to 12 Mbps.
Prior to this weekend, I had a 2.4GHz Sony cordless answering machine system set up in my apartment. I went out and bought a VTEC LS6245 DECT 6.0, but I'm not seeing any difference now that I've switched to a different cordless phone system.
I've got a iPad 16GB Wi-Fi only with an iPhone 3Gs connecting with a Belkin Vision N1 router that is configured as follows:
    Wireless Channel 11
    Extension Channel 7
    Wireless Mode = Off
    Protected Mode = Off
    Bandwidth = 20 MHz Only
    Wireless Mode = 11g+n

    Thanks!

    Hi—
I'm getting 16 Mb/s reliably on my iPad Wi-Fi with Cisco Linksys E2000 Advanced Wireless N+ router.
I tried cranking the speed up to 130 Mb/s, but neither the iPad nor any of our iPhones could find the SSID. So I left the speed at "Auto" and I'm still getting 3.8 Gb/s transfer between N-based Macs.
    Here're my router settings:
    BASIC WIRELESS SETTINGS
    Settings: Configuration View: Manual
    Wireless Band: 2.4 GHz
    Network Mode: Mixed
Channel Width: Auto (20 MHz or 40 MHz)
    Channel: Auto
    SSDI Broadcast: Enabled
    WIRELESS SECURITY
    WPA2 Personal
    ADVANCED WIRELESS SETTINGS
    AP isolation: Disabled
    Frame Burst: Enabled
    Basic Rate: Default
    N Transmission Rate: Auto
    CtS Protection Mode: Auto
    Beacon Interval: 100
    DTIM Interval: 1
    Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
    RTS Threshold: 2347
Good luck! I highly recommend this router and these settings.

  • Wireless N Speeds on Cisco Aironet 1041N

Hello, does anybody know how to enable wireless N speeds on this access point? It's operating in mixed mode via PoE. If I go into network interfaces -> Radio0-802.11N --> Settings, the highest data rate is only 54 mbps. Can N speeds be acheived in mix mode? Also, I thought this access point is dual-band, but I'm only seeing the one radio, is that normal? (see attached image)

  • Wireless Internet Speed

Hi I connected 1 wired and 1 wireless to the internet and all is fine. The wired Pc connected at 100.0Mbps which is fine but my question is only to find out if a wireless connection speed of 11Mbps is normal for a Linksys Wireless-B model BEFW1154 Version 4 with the updated firmware installed. I checked other wireless networks around the house and found most at 54Mbps. I can't tell what type connections they have but mine is a PPPOE DSL. So is 11Mbps normal? Thank you
Message Edited by northernchap on 08-10-2007 06:58 PM

First: the connection speed show is the maximum theoretical speed possible through the connected medium. 100 Mbps wired speed does only mean that you have a wired ethernet connection with 100 Mbps ports on both ends. It does not say anything about the speed you can actually get through this. Even under ideal circumstances you won't get faster speeds then 90 Mbps.
The same applies to wireless speeds although things are worse here because other wireless networks and cordless devices interfere with the connections causing even slower speeds. Your BEFW11S4 is a 802.11b router. The theoretical maximum speed of your router is 11 Mbps. If you have a wireless connection to the router you will only see 11 Mbps connections or slower. As you computer is able to see faster networks around your house it means that your computer has a newer 802.11g or 802.11n card built-in. With 11g the maximum shown connection speed is 54 Mbps.
In other words: what you see is completely normal as your router is not able to have faster connection speeds then 11 Mbps. This does not depend on the internet connection speed you have.

  • Wireless connection speed over Infinity 1.

Hi there, I have infinity 1 with the hub in an adjacent room to my computer, and when I do a speed test wirelessly the speed comes out at ~5mpb/s. I understand that wirelessly the speed tends to decrease a little, but why is it so low????

There are many reasons why your wireless speed could be low such as wireless interference, out dated drivers on your computer, and the construction of your property.
If you have a smart phone, download a Wifi Analyser app. It will show you the wireless channels and which one your Homehub is on. You want to find the channel with the least congestion, ie. least number of users. Once you have that you need to change your homehub onto that channel. If you can't use a Wifi Analyser select a channel and see if it improves, if not select another until you find the best one. This will also switch off "smart wireless" that can cause problems.
See link how to change channel on homehub

On your computer, check that the wireless network card drivers are up to date. Use the card manufacturers website rather than Windows which can be out of date.
Make sure that "Smart set up" on the Homehub is turned off

Yeah, I tried it exactly as described.
I use the Satellite U940-11X (PSU6SE) which has as network adapters the Realtek PCIe FE Family Controler and the Intel Centrino Wireless Adapter N 2230. The OS platform is Windows 8, 64bit.
I first uninstalled the existing Intel Bluetooth driver, then the Intel ProSet Wireless software.
I downloaded the newest software from Intel's website which is:
    - BT_2.6.1212_e64.exe, version 2.6.1212, 19-3-2013, for the Intel bluetooth software and
    - Wireless_15.6.1_e64.exe, version 15.6.1, 19-3-2013, for the Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers
I have installed both software packages correctly and did not receive any error messages.
The installation seems to be faultless.
However, the bluetooth switch in PC settings (wireless tab) remains gray.
I cannot switch it from off to on.
In the device manager the bluetooth button is listed under hidden devices.
    Where is the mistake?
Is it possible that my notebook requires specially modified drivers from the Toshiba website and/or additional drivers like to "bluetooth filter driver package" provided by Toshiba for my notebook model?
As to the bluetooth filter driver package it reads on the website that this driver is needed to enable bluetooth on your Atheros wlan-combo-card.
I am confused now because the notebook Satellite U940 11X (PSU6SE) doesn't have the Atheros card.
    Any advice for me?
    Thanks in advance

  • Is Cisco ever going to address the fact the E1200 does not support Wireless-N speeds at all!

When is Cisco ever going to address despite the touted speeds on their product packaging and what they claim wherever they sell the product that the E1200 with latest or earlier firmwares do not support Wireless-N speeds and usually gets under 1Mbps which is ridiculous?
Why is Cisco still selling this inferior product if they know it doesn't work and they have not patched it?

Extremely high volumes of connections can affect the speed of your own Internet connection. Did you already verify the connection straight to the modem? If that is working fine, then I firmly believed router is the issue here. Well there is lot of factors affecting slow speed with the router, that maybe cause by a corrupted firmware. BTW, what’s the version number of this router? If it’s already on the latest firmware, what I can suggest is to reset and reconfigure this device. You might as well disable WMM (it’s recommended for version 2 having this issue). My friend and I fix her problem with version when we disable WMM.

  • Wireless Download speed much slower than it should be

Wireless Download speed on Belkin N300 is only 1.5 mps and hard wired speed is 50 mps.  Firmware is up to date, what else can I do??  What is the Wireless Router that Comcast recomends??

A Verizon Tech support employee helped solve the issue. Apparrently we still had the same plan when we started and were only getting 768 kbps download and were paying like $21 dollar for it. So we are going to upgrade and get the starter plan and pay $20 a month and get 1 MB download. I might even get the 3 MB download plan.

That's not the router's IP address. Most likely it will be 192.168.1.1

  • Wireless downloading speeds dropped

    Hi,
Really unsure about tech stuff but on 24/09/2014 had major issues with my wireless speed dropping hugely. The night before was able to stream TV, play games and many other activitives at the same time. The following morning found that every device I own on the property had close to 0 connection speeds though signal strength was good. Did the BT wholesale speed check found my wireless download speed was less then 1 on other occasions less than 0.1. When the ethernet was connected to the router speeds were over 37mbps so its clearly my wireless. Did the inssider check and my link score is 71, Im on channel 6 atm. Not sure if anyone has had similar issues and resolved them, BT told me the fault was on my property but seems a bit flippant as the change was so dramatic and occurred overnight. Any help would be grateful.,
