E2000 Routing performance problem

Hello,
I have 300 Mb/s plan from ISP. Then cable connected directly to PC my throughput is as it should be, but then i do connect my PC via E2000 cable connection, it slows down to 200Mb/s. I have tryied also E4200 model and i have same issue.
Amyone have simmilar problem and knows the solution ?

  • 7600 1 Gig to 10Gig routing performance problems

    I have a 7606 with a sup720 and msfc3
    with WS-X6148-GE-TX and WS-X6704-10GE
I am trying to send ~1.2 Gbps of traffic from the 6148 to the 6704.
I have a packet generator connected to 10 of the 1G ports each sending ~120Mbps 512byte packets. The first 3 (1/30-1/32)ports don't drop any packets but the next 7 ports (1/33-1/39) drop ~2.25% each.
I checked "show int summary" and it is reporting that packets are being dropped on the input queues.
The config is pretty much default.
I just don't understand why so much packet loss at such a low rate.
I know the 6148 is just a wiring closet blade but it's supposed to have 32Gbps bandwidth to the backplane.
Is there something I need to tune?

    Hi,
There are currently no 10/100/1000 that are 100% non-blocking (running all ports at 1000 and line rate).
    AS for the 6704, it's not quite 100% non-blocking.
"Fully nonblocking when using only two ports (2 and 4, 1 and 3, 1 and 4, or 2 and 3)
Up to 98 percent nonblocking with all four ports active when using dCEF"
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/modules/ps4835/products_data_sheet09186a00801dce34.html
The module's forwarding ASIC (there are two onboard) maxes out at about 26mpps, which equates to roughly 17Gb at 64 bytes. You get better throughput at larger packet sizes, but never quite 100%.
    HTH,
    Bobby

  • Can't find wireless printer with E2000 router

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 (running Vista Home Premium) that connects to my Linksys E2000 and to a wireless printer, the Canon MX870.  It's been working for months without problems.
I just got a Toshiba Satellite P770-BT4G22 Laptop (running Window 7 Professional 64 bit) and installed the Cisco Connect software following the instructions where you have already set up the router and just need to install the software to do things like add a device.  I can connect to the router fine using a web browser or the Cisco Connect Software and my Toshiba connects to the Internet through the router without problems.
The problem is Cisco Connect says it can't find a wireless printer when I run it on my new Toshiba.  I've put the printer within 3 feet of the router with my Toshiba in between but still it can't find it.  My Dell in another room connects to the printer no problem.  And I can print to the Canon if I  select the Shared Canon Printer ( on the Dell) using the Toshiba's Control Panel Add Printer function.  But obviously that means the Dell has to be on so that's not good for much more than troubleshooting.  I've also wired a connection from the printer to the Toshiba and downloaded the latest driver, printed that way so I know that's not the problem.  The problem is that Cisco Connect can't find the printer.  It says there are 6 devices attached to my router so it's seeing something, but I guess not the printer.  I've turned any firewalls off for this testing too.
I'm stumped as to why it can't find the printer when the Dell did and they are all on the same network. Unless it's not compatible with 64 bit Windows.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have already added the printer to my network using Windows Add Printer prior to assigning the printer a static IP.  But I followed your instructions in making the IP static so if I reset the router I don't have to go through the process again.
When I ran CC and told it to add a printer, it did not identify any printer for me, it went from the screen where you say to add a printer to one where it asked me to name the printer.  Honestly, I wasn't even sure if it was referring to the Canon because I'd already added it using Windows, albeit without a static IP, just by knowing what IP it had been assigned.  After I gave it the name, it went back to the "home" screen with computers & devices, parental controls, etc.  No errors, but no real way to see or change what I had done.
That's why I was asking if there's a way to look at the router and view devices that have a static IP.  I can view the DHCP table but it's not there of course.  I don't really see anywhere using the router software (either by web connection or CC) where the Canon printer is listed.  I see it in Windows Printers, but I saw it there before I reran  CC and it asked me to name it.
I appreciate your help and I'm glad to be up and running with it.  Especially with having a static IP.  I'm just trying to better understand what happened and how to view my devices connected to the router.
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Linksys WRT600N vs CISCO PIX 506E.... Firewall / Routing Performance

    Hi:
I am new to the forum and was hoping to tap into some of your expertise. I have a Linksys WRT600N version 1.1 and I recently acquired a CISCO PIX 506E firewall. My question is what should I use as a firewall? Both have SPI etc. Should I:
    a) Use the 506E as a firewall and use the 600 as a wireless access point, or
    b) Use the 600 as a firewall and wireless access point.
Do both routers have the same firewall routing performance? I want to use the storage feautre on the 600N, but if I do that and use it as a wireless access point the 600 can't get the proper time from the Internet, so my time for newly created folders and files shows they are 10 years old.
Anyway, just thought I would post and find out what some of the experts thought and maybe someone from Linksys or CISCO. I know the 506E is discontinued and was manufactured around 2001 and the 600N is a new model.
(Edited subject to keep threads from stretching. Thanks!)

The PIX is a real firewall. The WRT has a firewall which mostly protects the router itself. People prefer to buy a "SPI firewall router" instead of a simple "router" even though the router firewall does nothing or little to protect the LAN. The only firewall configurations on the WRTs you can usually do is on the Access Restrictions tab. But that's usually all. The LAN itself is not protected by the firewall. You would notice this if you had a public IP subnet and ran it through the WRT: the LAN would be fully exposed to the internet. Some routers have a few functions like protection against denial of service attacks or similar. But even then this often filters only the traffic targeted at the router and not the LAN.
The common protection of your LAN you have on the WRT is because you use private IP addresses inside your LAN and the router does NAT. However, NAT is not a security mechanism but a mechanism to solve the problem that you can only have a single public IP address but want to use multiple computers, which is why you have to use private IP addresses. Current NAT implementations usually drop unsolicited incoming traffic because they don't know to which IP address in the LAN to send it to. But the notion of NAT is to deliver and to allow connectivity. This has nothing to do with security or a firewall.
Thus, if you want to use a real firewall use the PIX. On the PIX you can configure the traffic which is allowed to enter the LAN and which not. It is far superior in this respect to the WRT. However, as it is a older model, I cannot tell how fast the PIX is. You should be able to find the old data sheets of the PIX somewhere on the cisco website. They should mention the possible throughput. I guess it won't be an issue.
To me another point for the PIX are the VPN capabilities which allow you to securely access your LAN while you are on the road.
Of course, you must know how to configure the PIX correctly. It is a complex device and can be configured pretty much for anything you like. This means of course if you do it wrong you may end up with little or no security.
BTW, there are no people from linksys in this forums except the moderators (which may be from lithium). To hear from Linksys you have to contact Linksys support.

  • Performance problem counting ocurrences

    Hi,
I have an infocube with 5 characteristics (region, company, distribution center, route, customer) and 3 key figures, I have set one of this KF to average ( values different to 0), i am loading data from 16 months and 70 weeks. In my query i have set a calculated KF which is counting the ocurrences by the lowest characateristic to obtain it by granularity level therefore I always count the lowest detail (customer) there are aprox, 500K customers so my web templates are taking more than 10 minutes displaying the 12 months, I have looked up to make aggregations however the query is not using them anyway, has anyone had this kind of performance problems with such a low level of data (6 million for 12 months), Has anyone found a workaround to improve performance? I really expect someone has this experience and could help me out, this will depend on the life of BW in the organzation.
    Please help me out!
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
First of all thanks for your advices, I have taken part of both in my solution, I am now not considering anymore to use the avg defined in the ratio, how ever i am still considering  it in the query, it is answering at least for now taking up to 10 mins. Now my exact requirement is to display the count of distinct customers groped by the upper levels. I have populated my infocube with 1 in my key figure however, it may be duplicated for a distribution center, company or region, therefore i have to find out the distinct customer. With SAP's "How to count occurences" i managed that, but it is not performing at an acceptable level , i have performed tests without the division between CKF customer/ CKF avg customer and found this is what is now slowing the query. I find the boolean evaluation might be more useful and less costly if you could hint a little more in how to do it, i would appreciate with points, also a change in the model could be costly by the front end part because of dependences with queries and web templates, i rather have it solved in BW workbench by partitioning, aggregation, new infocubes,  which is already a solution I have analyzed by disggregating the characteristics by totals in different infocubes with the same KF and then by query selecting the appropiate one. I was wondering if an initial routine could do the count distincts and group by with the same ratio for different characteristics so i do not rework the other configuration I already have

  • Airport multicast performance problems in u-verse IPTV bridge.

I have a bunch of airport hardware, two n expresses, a draft n extreme, and a 5th generation extreme. I've recently moved to a new house and have AT&T's u-verse multicast IPTV installed. I want to put my TV somewhere without wiring and was going to just do it using a dedicated 802.11n bridge formed from either the two expresses, or the draft n extreme (at the multicast source side) and an express as a receiver.
This seems to work from a functionality perspective, I get the multicast stream into the AT&T set-top box and can watch all of the channels for extended periods of time. The problem that I run into is that I have performance problems that result in the video stuttering, pixelating, and freezing for seconds to minutes at a time. I don't understand why this is the case. The HD stream is less than 9Mbps which should be easily handled by a 5Ghz, n-only link. The source and destination expresses are within 5 feet of each other with clear line-of-sight.
Does anyone have any experience with multicast streaming on aiport hardware? Is there some limitation in the airport implementation where multicast (UDP) packets trigger some sort of slowpath packet processing, so that packets are being dropped? Is there some reporting feature within airport utility that where I can look for diagnostics related to dropped or (extremely) delayed packets? Is there something about AT&T's use of multicast IPTV that is just incompatible with airport hardware?
Note that the u-verse gateway handles all of the IGMP in this situation, and that nothing else is on the network. Well, the 5th gen router is on the network and everything else I own is behind it on a different wifi network. The gateway is smart enough to filter out the multicast traffic so that the router doesn't see it.

Found a solution. Switching from Apple's built-in "create a wireless network" and "join a wireless network+allow ethernet clients" to a WDS network with a main and a remote solves all of the problems. It's not a great option because the WDS network forces me to select a fixed, 2.4Ghz channel, but the IPTV stream is only 8-ish Mbps which seems to be doable, even with all of the wireless networks floating around my house. I guess that it could be a bigger problem during peak wifi usage around here, but we'll cross that bridge when it happens.

  • E2000 router device to device connection

I have a E2000 router/access point. I am able to connect 3 laptops, 1 smartphone and 1 printer wirelessly to the access point. All computers and smartphone can access the Internet. The problem is that none of the devices can connect with each other and thus cannot print. I can ping the router, no problem. Get "request timed out" message when trying to ping from one device to the other. Router firmware is 1.04
    Any ideas what's going on?
    Thanks,

Unfortunately, that didn't work. I tried it both my XP and Win 7 laptops with no success. Still cannot ping either the printer or other computers, but can ping router and obviously have Internet access.
    Any other thoughts?
Yup, I agree with troia.  Make sure to turn off the firewall.
Check the ICMP settings of Windows.
    Start > Run > firewall.cpl >Advanced > Click "Settings" under ICMP
The only option that should be checked is "Allow incoming echo request".

  • E1200 Router Stability Problems

Hi y'all! It's my first time posting here, so please be gentle...  I've been prowling the boards for some problems that may be quite similar to mine, but since I do not have the time to read each possible one (sorry, guys!), here it goes:
I've recently acquired a Linksys E1200 router--which is more than a week old--from the recommendation of a friend of mine. The service is great and all, but the one thing that frequently bothers me is the seeming constant instability of my router's model. There are moments when the router performs smoothly, but there is as much an instance when I'm almost always pulling my hair out because the router doesn't seem to work at all even when the lights (and the accompanying connection) on my modem seem to be working in good order.
I know that a router will always have its problems, but I just need to ask anyone here if this is really a constant problem with the E1200; and if so, if there's any way possible on how I can be able to "stabilize" the said router's performance. Any suggestion from you guys would be more than welcome. Thanks!

    Hey guys!
Sorry for the late reply, but as it turned out, I was also plagued with other technical problems--namely, my trusty laptop fizzling out on me after 5 years of hard work and service. BUT anyhoo...
The wireless router I'm currently trying to set up is the Cisco Linksys E1200 with serial number 10810C64207218. I was able to successully install it last week, and that was mainly by sheer accident, via manual installation through my laptop which has wi-fi capabilites. The first one I tried installing the router on, on the other hand, is only LAN-enabled. Since then, it was two days of continuous unstable connection until I just discontinued using the router because of it. And yes, I did try the above suggestions of resetting the device and downloading the firmware, but it were still to no avail.
However, since my wi-fi-enabled laptop is officially out of commission, I tried installing it now using a Gateway notebook (not sure if that's the right "name" for this brand) and on a Windows 7 OS by using the CD which came with the router. Because the notebook I'm now using is also LAN-enabled only, I think the installation process was partially hijacked because of it, and now I'm running out of ideas as to how I can make this week-old router work already.
Again, any and all suggestions will be welcomed greatly. Thanks in advance for the help!

  • E2000 - Wireless Signal problem

    Hello,
I am sorry if posting on an old thread is wrong on these forums, but I'm new here so I hope you will forgive me.
Anyway, I have the same problem here, my wireless from my Linksys E2000 router NEVER works. I've tried the same things and I have also tried to change the Advanced wireless settings, none of these things worked.
When I unplug the energy cable from my router for ~15 secs, I sometimes can connect to a Wireless signal, this signal remains for about 30 seconds and is then gone again. This happens even if I'm standing right next to my router.
I have no idea what the problem is, even I find this story very unbelievable, but I have tried everything I could and still we never have Wireles...
(Mod Note: Post moved to start a new thread..)

    Try these troubleshooting steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] On that same setup page reduce the MTU value to 1400 from Auto
4] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Update the drivers for the wireless card of the wireless computer. Then check the wireless connection status.

  • E2000 Router requires are modem?

    Hi,
I've been using a Linksys WAG200G for the last few years and I've had a telephone cable running from the wall port, straight into my router and it worked no problem, still don't have a problem with getting an internet connection from it now.
Today though I bought the E2000 router. Whilst installing the Cisco Connect program for the router, it always stops at 75% and times out before saying that the installer cannot detect an "internet cable" in the router, even though I have my telephone cable into the Ethernet port (with a 4 to 8pin converter) in there.
Does this mean that I need a modem in order to have a connection like "telephone cable --> modem --> internet cable --> router"?
    Thanks

The E2000 is a ethernet router. Never plug anything else then an ethernet cable connecting to another to an ethernet port on another ethernet device to any of its port. Connecting something else like the telephone cable may severely damage the router. Ethernet and telephone are completely different signals, voltages, etc. And never ever simply plug a "converter" converting pins if it is not specifically designed for a specific device.
You must install a modem which converts the telephone signals to ethernet. Then you can connect the E2000 to the modem.
You can use the WAG200G as simple modem in bridge mode and connect the E2000 to the WAG200G then. You can also use the WAG200G as internet router and use the E2000 as additional access point.

  • Actiontec MI424WR Router Connection Problems

Over the past several days I have continued to have intermittent internet connection problems. All my computers are wired eithernet connections to the Verizon FIOS Actiontec router. I called FIOS tech support yesterday and they were no help, the said they found no problems with the connection.  The tech support said it was most liley a problem with using Dell Computers as most problems that he has had to troubleshoot were Verizon Customers who used Dell Computers.  Well I have 3 Dell Computers and 2 are VIsat and 1 XP...All have the same intermittent internet connection problesms.   I notice that wihle  tying to connect to a webpage the Actiontec router looses connection, the WAN Coax and Internet lights go out.  It take the router 10 -30 secs to reconnect to the internet. I have re-booted and also have performed a hard re-set of the Actiontec router, same problem still ocurring again today. It has ocurring on all 3 computers and there is no specific website. Just a couple a minutes ago lost conneciton while reviewing the football scores on ESPN.com.
Does this look like bad router or NAT Address problem that people are talking about.

The first thing I would check is your coax connections.  You shouldn't be loosing your Coax wan connection.  Check it there are any old splitters on the coax, check the ends and make sur ethey aren't cruddy crimped connectors.  If everything is new I would call the fsc and tell them that your loosing your wan coax light and arrange to have a field tech visit.  It could be something as simple as wiring or something more involved such as replacing your ont.

I am facing a performance problem with my current application (PL/SQL packaged procedure)

  • Performance problem in Zstick report...

    Hi Experts,
I am facing performance problem in Custoom Stock report of Material Management.
In this report i am fetching all the materials with its batches to get the desired output, at a time this report executes 36,000 plus unique combination of material and batch.
This report takes around 30 mins to execute. And this report is to be viewed regularly in every 2 hours.
To read the batch characteristics value I am using FM -> '/SAPMP/CE1_BATCH_GET_DETAIL'
Is there any way out to increase the performance of this report, the output of the report is in ALV.
May i have any refresh button in the report so that data may get refreshed automatically without executing it again. or is there any cache memory concept.
Note: I have declared all the itabs with type sorted, all the select queries are fetched with key and index.
    Thanks

    Hello,
SE30 is old. Switch on trace on ST12 while running this progarm and identify where exactly most of the time is being spent. If you see high CPU time this problem with the ABAP code. You can exactly figure out the program/function module from ST12 trace where exactly time is being spent. If you see high database time in ST12, problem is with database related issue. So basically you have to analyze sql statement from performance traces in ST12. These could resolve your issue.
    Yours Sincerely

  • SQL report performance problem

I have a SQL classic report in Apex 4.0.2 and database 11.2.0.2.0 with a performance problem.
The report is based on a PL/SQL function returning a query. The query is based on a view and pl/sql functions. The Apex parsing schema has select grant on the view only, not the underlying objects.
The generated query runs in 1-2 sec in sqlplus (logged in as the Apex parsing schema user), but takes many minutes in Apex. I have found, by monitoring the database sessions via TOAD, that the explain plan in the Apex and sqlplus sessions are very different.
    The summary:
In sqlplus SELECT STATEMENT ALL_ROWS Cost: 3,695
In Apex SELECT STATEMENT ALL_ROWS Cost: 3,108,551
What could be the cause of this?
I found a blog and Metalink note about different explain plans for different users. They suggested to set optimizer_secure_view_merging='FALSE', but that didn't help.

Hmmm, it runs fast again in SQL Workshop. I didn't expect that, because both the application and SQL Workshop use SYS.DBMS_SYS_SQL to parse the query.
Only the explain plan doesn't show anything.
To add: I changed the report source to the query the pl/sql function would generate, so the selects are the same in SQL Workshop and in the application. Still in the application it's horribly slow.
So, Apex does do something different in the application compared to SQL Workshop.

  • Performance problem with WPF Viewer CRVS2010

    Hi,
We are using Crystal Reports 2010 and the new WPF Viewer. Last week when we set up a test machine to run our integration tests (several hundred) all report tests failed (about 30 tests) with a timeout exception.
    The testmachine setup:
    HP DL 580 G5
    WMWare ESXi 4.0
Guest OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
    Memory (guest OS): 3GB
    CPU: 1
    Visual Studio 2010
Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 with 64 bit runtime installed
    Visual Studio 2008 installed
    Microsoft Office 2010 installed
    Macafee antivirus
There are about 10 other virtual machines on the same HW.
I think the performance problem is related to text obejcts on a report document viewed in a WPF Viewer. I made a simple WPF GUI with 2 buttons and the first button executes a very simple report that only has a text object with a few words in it and the other button is also a simple report with only 1 text object with approx. 100 words (about 800 charchters).
The first report executes and displays almost instantly and the second report executes instantantly but displays after approx. 1 min 30 sec.
And execute in this context means that all VB.Net code runs in the compiler without any exception or performance problem. The performance problem seems to come after viewer.Show() (in the code below) has executed.
I did another test on the second report and replaced the text obejct with a formula field with the same text as the text object and this test executed and displayed the report instantly.
So the performance problem seems to have something to do with rendering of textobjects in the WPF Viewer on a virtual machine with the above setup.
I've made several tests on local machines with Windows XP (32 bit) or Winows 7 (64 bit) installed and none of them have this performance problem. Its not a critical issue for us because our users will run this application on their local PCs with Windows 7 64-bit but its a bit problematic for our project not being able to run all of our integration tests but I will probably solve this by using a local PC instead.
Here is the VB.Net code Im using to View the reports:
Private Sub LightWeight_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeight.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
Private Sub LightWeightSlow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeightSlow.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
The reports are 2 empty default reports with only 1 textobject on the details section.
