E2500 drops constantly on iMac

I set up my new E2500 last week, and it works fantastic with every device (iPad, 2 iPhones, iMac, DLink usb, ...) EXCEPT my iMac.  That connects, but loses the connection very frequently (say at least every half hour) and I need to turn wifi off and on to get it to reconnect.
I've ensured that the iMac has all system updates, and I've checked that the E2500 is the latest firmware.
Please help, I've reverted to my old WRT54G for now, I'll have to return the E2500 if it won't work consistently with the iMac.
Thanks!

So the Router (E2500) that you have is Wireless-N Router...It is Simultaneous dual-band Wireless-N Router... So that it means it has 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies...
As far as wireless settings is concern do the following settings ----> You can use same wireless network name or even you can use different network name...
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
If there is any anti-virus or firewall disable them all as well...
Certainly these settings will help you....

  • Wifi drops constantly on WPA enterprise wifi on my campus

    Hello,
I own a macbook pro retina mid 2012 on maverick. The wifi drops constantly on campus, it's a WPA enterprise wifi. The wifi seems to work fine at home. My computer has been sent to an apple store twice for this issue already, I got it back but it is still not working and i spent more than 3 hours on the phone with apple trying to solve that issue. They made me run a lot of stuff, got me to send them files so that their engineers could work on them.
Bottom of the story, they tell me that the problem must come from my university wifi, a wifi network used by 50 000 students every single day and everyone is fine with it ...
I have been to the computer help desk on campus and they had no idea what to do.
So please if anyone has any hint, i would greatly appreciate as I lost faith in apple "engineers" and their skills.
    Thanks guys.

I have a 27" iMac connected to several others pc and to Server via router. Very frequently Lan or internet drops in my iMac. I Have OS 10.6.7 with all updates.

Issues like this are going to be related to the network. Intermittant problems are typically due to network interference, have you checked istumbler.net to get a report of your network?

  • Wifi dropping constantly on a MacBook Air and iPad 2 and iPad 3.  I am not computer savvy so any solution will have to be in 'normal' language, please.

I keep looking for the solution to wifi dropping constantly, but just can't understand the answers, let alone follow the instructions.  Can anyone please explain in 'baby' language how to stop wifi constantly dropping on my MacBook Air and iPads 2 and 3.  I have had this problem for about three weeks and prior to that everything was fine.  I am using a D-Link Router on channel 11, with AOL as my provider.  Thank you so much.

That is correct, so I have just been told!!  Our Router is a D-Link DSL-2640R which we access via typing 192.168.1.1 into our Internet Explorer Browser on a Windows PC computer.  All this has been working for years.  The Summary page for the Router shows Internet, DSL and Wireless are all connected and working fine.  We have changed the channel to 11 which has made things faster and is not in conflict with nearby systems, but wi-fi still drops on the Mac and iPads.  I have only had this problem for a matter of a few weeks.  Before that all worked perfectly fine.
By the way thank you very much for trying to help.

  • Since updating to 10.9.3, WiFi and BT drops constantly

Since updating to 10.9.3, WiFi won't connect easily and my bluetooth Magic Mouse drops constantly.  It takes a long time for WiFi to join networks and sometimes I have to manually select my known network that has worked for years.  The BT Magic Mouse is dropping it's connection all day long.  I have deleted it and added it back in under te BT settings.
Any thoughts or suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

Try resetting your printer and router (power off for 15 secs, then back on).
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Printing System:

Logitech security cameras are dropped constantly. am I just imagining this or did this start to happen when Comcast came out with its own security cameras? I reset my Logitech camera to work through the Comcast router about once ever

Well it sounds like they are wireless, are they?
if they are take a laptop and load the in home agent, and go to one of the locations where you have the most trouble, and run the wifi wizard from that location.
it will find if you have interference and automatically make an adjustment for you, then you can watch and retest it.
get the in home agent at www.verizon.com/connect

  • IOS6 Makes WIFI drop constantly!

iOS6 Makes WIFI drop constantly on my iphone! How can I fix this? Thanks to your new sloppy OS6, I should never of updated! The maps is a mess as well.

I was not aware I was treating someone badly, merely showing frustration on paying so much money on equipment, should definitely have quality associated with it. Saying “Thanks to your new sloppy OS6, I should never of updated!” refers to apple developers and their QA testing team for allowing a release with two big fall-backs. As well as a mistake I made by updating. I will make sure not to start my post off irritated (see the correct spelling) and hostile so I can get as much as possible. Next time I will send out a bunch of flowers, some bunnies and unicorns jumping out of rainbows. Where everyone can hug each other and sing along on the word messiness, maps and Wi-Fi. Doing that, I presume the “much” I would accumulate would be more than a link to the apple feedback service and I will get an iOS dedicated to me with my own link as well.
I will gladly redirect myself to: www.apple.com/feedback/ that was probably the only thing you had to post. Except if you will provide me with the “much” and a new IOS, then I will send some flowers, bunnies and Unicorns immediately.

  • Wifi drops constantly on brand new HP Envy Notebook.

I've always thought so highly of HP and as such, decided to purchase an HP laptop - an HP Envy 15-K233ca Notebook. I have had some issues from the start and one in particular, is making for a rather unpleasant experience. The wifi connection keeps dropping.  It drops when the system is put in sleep mode, when I surf the net and even after a reboot.   I walked through the issue (and a few others) with HP's  help desk this evening and after 2 hours was met with the same problem.  I am now having to reboot the computer and troubleshoot to try and maintain a wifi connection.  This is my first experience with an HP Laptop and I'm disappointed.  It's unfortunate, but I may have to return it.  I'll be walking over to Apple for a replacement.   If someone from HP can resolve this for once and for all, it would be helpful. Otherwise, I will have no choice but to return the unit. Note:  I've noticed that others experience the same issue.  I requested that HP's Help Desk install drivers to resolve the issue.  If this didn't work after our session this evening, then I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue.

  • Sudden Problem: Snow ABS Constantly Drops Signal with iMac G5

My iMac G5 (running OS X 10.4.3) is suddenly unable to maintain a wireless connection with my Snow Airport Base Station, for more than 5 minutes at a time.
I've done a hard reset of the Snow Base Station, reloaded the Base Station software, changed the Snow Base Station Channel, disabled Interference Robustness, checked for interfering Wifi using MacStumbler (no other Base Stations exist in my building), and installed Apple's Airport Update 2005-001, but the problem remains. All the lights are properly functioning on the Snow Base Station. I am really confused, as this problem just appeared out of the blue 2 days ago.
At the same time, my iMac G5 still never drops the wireless connection with my Airport Express Base Station, or with my E-Tech Wireless DSL Router.
Can anyone else comment on this, or suggest a solution? For the moment, I am not able to access the internet and stream iTunes, it is an either/or situation for now.
    Many thanks, Aaron

Help, I've been having the same problem and it has gotten worse and now I have a neighbor that is coming across the same problem.
I've been advised to try a new Airport Card but I don't if that is the problem because the the computer shows a perfectly good signal but just won't connect to the internet or printers connected to the basestation. Can you still buy a 802.11 b airport card?
    What I have:
Airport 802.11 b base station (white), one G4 PowerMac/10.3.9 directly connected (works fine), one iMac G4/10.3.9 (pivot screen, 802.11b card), one G4 Powerbook/10.3.9 (802.11 extreame card).
Tower works perfectly, Powerbook works perfectly, iMac no longer connects but shows strong signal to both Basestation and Airport Express connected to Stereo. iMac won't talk to anything exept something directly connected. Did everything recommended on Apple site short of buying a new wireless card.
I'm starting to see a pattern here with other people having the same problem.
    Help, we need solutions.

  • E2500 Linksys constantly dropping signal

My E2500 Linksys has never been consistant with its signal to my MacBook Pro. I have heard a lot of people complain about it but no one has a solution. Are there any out there yet??
    thanks,
    Luke

Try to do the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

This has worked for a few...
Though all of these steps may or may not be needed, I'm including them all.
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(There may be better or faster DNS numbers in your area, but these should be a good test).

  • Internet connection is dropping constantly - technical support useless so far

I have Verison for about 30 days and very unhappy with internet connection. speed is perfect but this connection get lost constantly. Once per hour or so. Interrupted games, video feeds, dropped calls with voip, e.t.c. And this is on wired line!
    Never had issues with cable.
Talk several times to tech support - they tested, send me new router and I am still having the  issue. I also tried my own router together with verizon, did not help much.
I read several post about it and probably spent more time that it worth  for me.
I am one of the first verizon Fios customer on my block, because the service became available very recently.
Thinking of canceling Verizon service before 30 days of contract. Othervise it would be kind of joke if verizon charge me early termination fee for bad service.
Does anybody had simular issue and how it was resolved?

This use to happen to me, i had to much bandwith traffic going on as i was putting out maximum throughput when i was hosting my home server, and a gaming server (this resulted in me repetitively getting kicked out of ps3 game rooms which i was defined as a host just because my connection was best).
Try seeing whats drawing the most bandwith, or heck remove it altogether, and then use just data, and see if it messes up, then from their you can pinpoint where the real issue is (bad modem/router, bad coax line) or if its one of your other devices (ex: Tv, phone) thats drawing data that is somehow affecting your speeds (or causing the drop outs). If this isn't the case, check your line that comes in, it maybe a direct connection but the possibility is that their is a minor break in the line (although if this were true chances are it wouldnt work AT ALL).
Perhaps theirs something interfearing with the COAX cable though, i'd check how it connects, or just for sake of argument, plugin the modem/router directly into/next to the FiOS unit just to see if that eliminates the issue altogether. Alota trouble shooting can go into this but... i'd suggest moving the router/modem and directly connecting it to the FiOS box where ever its installed. See if it still acts up, if not you have your answer, COAX issue somewhere.
