E2500 Linksys constantly dropping signal

My E2500 Linksys has never been consistant with its signal to my MacBook Pro. I have heard a lot of people complain about it but no one has a solution. Are there any out there yet??
thanks,
Luke

Try to do the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1400 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page). Here is the link for determining and setting up the correct MTU size: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=fbf8e8564632422eaa8ea80bf9dcba64_386.xml&pid=80&re...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

  • Sudden Problem: Snow ABS Constantly Drops Signal with iMac G5

My iMac G5 (running OS X 10.4.3) is suddenly unable to maintain a wireless connection with my Snow Airport Base Station, for more than 5 minutes at a time.
I've done a hard reset of the Snow Base Station, reloaded the Base Station software, changed the Snow Base Station Channel, disabled Interference Robustness, checked for interfering Wifi using MacStumbler (no other Base Stations exist in my building), and installed Apple's Airport Update 2005-001, but the problem remains. All the lights are properly functioning on the Snow Base Station. I am really confused, as this problem just appeared out of the blue 2 days ago.
At the same time, my iMac G5 still never drops the wireless connection with my Airport Express Base Station, or with my E-Tech Wireless DSL Router.
Can anyone else comment on this, or suggest a solution? For the moment, I am not able to access the internet and stream iTunes, it is an either/or situation for now.
    Many thanks, Aaron

Help, I've been having the same problem and it has gotten worse and now I have a neighbor that is coming across the same problem.
I've been advised to try a new Airport Card but I don't if that is the problem because the the computer shows a perfectly good signal but just won't connect to the internet or printers connected to the basestation. Can you still buy a 802.11 b airport card?
    What I have:
Airport 802.11 b base station (white), one G4 PowerMac/10.3.9 directly connected (works fine), one iMac G4/10.3.9 (pivot screen, 802.11b card), one G4 Powerbook/10.3.9 (802.11 extreame card).
Tower works perfectly, Powerbook works perfectly, iMac no longer connects but shows strong signal to both Basestation and Airport Express connected to Stereo. iMac won't talk to anything exept something directly connected. Did everything recommended on Apple site short of buying a new wireless card.
I'm starting to see a pattern here with other people having the same problem.
    Help, we need solutions.

  • Macbook Pro 10.6.8 constantly drops my wi-fi network and joins Linksys which works but very slow

My Macbook Pro constantly drops my network and joins Linksys. It connects to the Internet but is painfully slow. Choosing my network again works for a while than goes back to Linksys. Any sugestions?

Try going to system preferences/network/advanced, airport tab, in the prefered networks pane highlight and drag your net work to the top of the list. See if it then chooses your network as prefered, hope this helps.

  • WRT54GS v1 dropping signal

I have a WRT54GS v1 (no firmware upgrade done yet).  It works fine downstairs in home office where it is 5 ft from the HP laptop and Brother printer.  Both work great wirelessly when close to router.  However, when upstairs on second floor the signal is always weak and comes and goes.  Got a new iPad for Christmas and connection dropping constantly.  Signal seems to go strong then weak to point of dropping.  Only thing I can think of is that more devices are using the wireless signal upstairs like iPhone(s), new iPad, and my work laptop.   I also got a new Mac Air for Christmas so that will be another device drawing on the wireless access point.   Do I need to get a new more powerful router like E2000/E3000 with dual band and N-support or just try to get by with firmware upgrade on the one I have??   Any help appreciated...
I also have a Netgear WGT624 v3 that my wife used before we got married.  It is 108 Mbps whereas the Linksys is only 54 Mbps.  Not sure if it matters.

Before shelling out more $ for new router, I'd try and do the firmware upgrade.  Even if you had the most recent firmware, I'd suggest reflashing.  After that you could try changing some of the system settings (i.e., channel, etc.) and see how that effects the signal strength.  Something like this.

  • Linksys WRV4400N Dropping Offline

I have 10 laptops (Windows XP), in a Windows Server 2008 (That was migrated from a SBS 2003 domain) and using Offline Files, that are constantly dropping their connections and receiving the dreaded "Offline - You are no longer connected to Server A". When I try to synchronize they fail. At first it was all systems dropping offline at the same time when users first logged in. Now it's just random and not all systems at the same time. The Linksys router is less than 20 feet away from the users with 1 drywall between them.
I can usually resolve the issue by disabling and re-enabling the wireless connection and it'll reconnect and synchronize. Or I can cycle the power on the router and they'll synchronize.
Initially, I thought this was a domain wireless timeout issue and created a policy to not timeout wireless connections, but apparently that's not the issue.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!

One of the probable cause of this problem is that the EA6500 have a corrupted firmware. Did you check if you have the latest firmware installed on the router? Please try to check as well if you experienced this problem on your other wireless devices. There is also a need to check if the wireless adapter installed on your computer has the latest drivers.
Just to further isolate the issue, you can also try inSSIDer to help you measure the signal strength and estimate the performance of your Wi-Fi in various locations.

  • Wifi constantly drops while watching Live Stream TV

My Wifi constantly drops while watching Live Stream TV. I cannot make it through a 30 min tv show without it dropping me serveal times.I can only resume if I refresh and re-connect to my reouter.  I just had my service installed 3 weeks ago and have been told I have the latest router.

The most likely cause for your findings is that your neighbor is using a different channel on his router, or he is broadcasting a stong signal on the same or a nearby channel, and interfering with your signal.   However, don't rush out and change your channel to the same one he is using, as this may only make things worse.  There are, however, several things to do to improve your wireless connections:
First of all, give your network a unique SSID. Do not use "linksys". If you are using "linksys" you may be trying to connect to your neighbor's router. Also set "SSID Broadcast" to "enabled". This will help your computer find and lock on to your router's signal.
Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, Bluetooth (including Bluetooth game controllers), microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, and your neighbor's wireless network. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem.
In your router, try a different channel. There are 11 channels in the 2.4 GHz band. Usually channel 1, 6, or 11 works best. Check out your neighbors, and see what channel they are using. Because the channels overlap one another, try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors. For example, if you have a strong neighbor on channel 9, try any channel 1 through 4.
    Hope this helps.

  • BTHub 3 - drops signal on regular basis

I am new to BT - 4/5 months; I moved from Virgin because the wireless signal on their hub (the so called super hub) was absolute rubbish.  So rubbish they releasded me form the contract.  Well, BT is worse.  Unbelievably worse.
I use a mac, so many of the self help tools aren't available to me.
I email support and they tell me to chnage the channel.  Then one of my PCs at home won't connect to the new channel.  They tell me it is the belkin USB connector so they won't help; I query this, they don't listen so I change the channel back and get connected!!
I am then told by a different agent that the channels I have an email telling me to chnage to are incorrect and i should use different channels.
I ask for this to be lodged as a formal complaint and support has gone quiet and will no longer repsond to my emails.
Yet here I am paying £45 a month for a connection that constantly drops and where the Hub is rebooting several times a day.  But BT just seem unable to offer any help or advice.

Its a very common problem, but can usually be solved.
I do have a help page which should give you somewhere to start. Its quite often a channel or encryption problem.
Interference is a major issue, with the large number of wireless users.
No ISP will guarentee a good wireless connection.

  • My Airport keeps dropping signals!!

I am losing my mind!!! We have an airport extreme base station connected to our Vonage router from the DSL modem. It was all working just fine and then one day it just started to drop the signal throughout the day. It does in and out but still shows that I have full signal in the airport bars in my top menu. I tried the internet without the airport and just plugged directly in from the DSL and it worked perfectly. I also tried it with the airport out from the DSL and leaving the vonage router out of the equation and it dropped signals . this tells me that it is the airport.
In the house we also have two other airport extremes. they both extend the range of our network and one of them is used to connect to the stereo for itunes.
My system all worked fine before the system update and now it doesn't. I am at a total loss and am exhausted from trying to deal with this anymore. is there a soloution floating around in here that i am simply too frazzled to see?

I don't know if this is the solution or not, but I noticed after the 10.4.5 update, I could only see access points on channel 6.
My own access point was on channel 1 and I couldn't see it or connect to it, even with the SSID being fully broadcast. I changed the access point (Linksys WAP54G) to channel 6 and I'm connected for over 2 days with a rock solid connection.
I still do not see any access points in my neighborhood, including my second access point which is on channel 14 (Linksys WRT54G).
Let me know if this works for you.

  • Bandwidth usage/signal strength/dropped signal WRT160nv2

    Three questions
    1. How can I determine how much bandwidth each of my network devices are using.  Is there anyway to tell using Linksys easylink which is installed on my machine? I have a WRT160nv2 router.
    2. Is there anyway to boost signal strength through internal settings. If so, how do I do that.
    3. Been experiencing dropped signal for some wireless devices. Is there any way to determine why this happens and is there a fix for this problem.
    thanks

    1. Sorry no.
    2. Sorry no.
    3.  Change these settings in the router.  Disable UPnP, under wireless settings Beacon Interval 50, RTS and Fragmentation threshold 2304.  Change to channel 1.  Save settings.   Reconnect.

  • Constantly dropping calls no matter the phone

All Verizon phones constantly drop calls in my house.  Signal constantly bounces from 2-4 bars when the phones aren't moving.  The only place I can make calls without dropping signal is if I step out in my back yard.  How do I put in a ticket or have someone check this out.  The problem has been here since I moved in 2 years ago, however it's progressively gotten worse.  Phones are HTC Winphone 8x and Samsung Brightside, but family's Droid X2, Iphone 4, Iphone 5, LG showtime, and a couple other basic phones all have same issue.

        Hi mtpica112471!
I apologize for the inconvenience because I realize the importance of operable service! Let's look into this. Current zip code? There can challenges present with indoor coverage.

  • I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 on my MacBook. Constantly dropping internet connection or message "error connecting to the network" comes up. No wireless connectivity issues with windows 7 laptop or iphone.

I have a MacBook with Snow Leopard 10.6.8. The last few weeks it has been constantly dropping internet connection, and one of these messages appear on the page: "Safari cannot open this page because the server where this page is located isn't responding" or "Safari cannot open this page because you are not connected to the internet" comes up. I will check Wifi and I am connected. No wifi connectivity issues with iphone or windows 7 laptop, this doesn't happen with either of those devices. I have unplugged and reset router, cleared cache, still happening. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

  • External hard drive constantly dropping USB connection

Last week I bought a 1 TB drive from Hitachi to use for video storage and rendering, but it seems that every 15 minutes or so, the USB connection drops itself and then immediately reconnects. This of course proves to be a problem when it happens while I'm transferring data. I've had a number of uploads fail because of this and I don't want to start editing several hours of HDV video in FCP only to have the connection constantly dropped.
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks.

I've recently started having similar problems with my external USB devices - including a 500GB Western Digital External USB drive. But it's not just the drive. I have a USB hub plugged into the left USB port and the whole thing was switching on and off - turning off my mouse, disconnecting my USB drive and restarting my iPhone charging (and restarting iPhoto every time, of course, to download any new photos).
Initially I suspected the USB hub (which has it's own power supply) had gone bad somehow but after reading about all the problems MacBook Pro owners have been having with their USB devices I'm not so sure anymore.
Trying the right USB port now to see if it exhibits the same problems. So far it's working fine with just the drive plugged in. I'll let you know.
