E2500 randomly drops internet connection but not the home network.

I have an E2500 with the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.03). My configuration is simple, I have a fixed IP from my ISP with fixed DNS servers. I have one computer connected via cable and one connected via wireless and a laptop that gets connected on occasion wirelessly as well. I also have an android phone that I sometimes have the networking turned on and sometimes not. That doesn't seem to be affecting the router either as I've lost connections under both circumstances. The only thing I have different is I clone the MAC address as the ISP has my IP linked to my old Linksys MAC.
The problem is I randomly lose connection to the internet, the home network is still up it's just the internet goes down. I could be on the computer or not, sometimes while browsing sometimes after I browse for a while sometimes before I get started. Fortunately its not happened during one of my online games but it has happened just after I log off the game. It usually happens a couple of times a day.
My fix has been to simply log into the router via html and on the status screen click the reboot button, then the ok, then the continue (I know it by heart). I wait 30 seconds or so and bingo I have my internet back. It's a pain that I'd like to get fixed.
Any ideas?
JB

There might be some settings required in the router so that it gets the proper solution. If you are facing the concern of getting lag, dropped connections then you can try the following steps:
A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
3] On that same setup page reduce the MTU value to 1400 from Auto
4] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

It's possible your wi-fi router needs to be reset, or the firmware needs to be updated.

  • Lynksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router - Help needed to share internet connection from PC to home network

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me out with a problem I have:
I am currently connecting my PC to a mobile phone as a Wireless Access Point to give that PC access the internet. I also have a small home network, with one other PC and a Game Console. I own a Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router. My problem is this. How do I share that internet connection with the rest of the home network?
To the best of my knowledge its not possible to connect my mobile phone directly to my Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router, although if anyone has any ideas how to do this I'd love to hear!
So my alternative idea is to connect to the internet via one PC, set up that internet connection as "Shared." and then allow the other devices on the home network to connect thru this. My question is how do I set up my  Linksys E900 Wireless-N300 Router to allow my other PC and game console connect to the internet? Bridge Mode? PPPoE? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! PS: both PC's are running on Windows 8

I have Cisco Linksys E900 router. I want to make my home Wi-Fi zone. But I don’t have Static IP. One more thing is that Service provider have web page Authentication. I have username and pass.
I am able to make SSID and security for my WI-FI LAN. I can use internet on one device. If I tried from second device again it’s asking me for username and password. While login it’s showing your first session in not logout. (Means I have to logout from 1st device and have to login on 2nd device.)
Is there any option that I can Use my all devices at same time?

  • My iMac drops the internet connection but mantains the wi-fi network.

I have a late 2011, 2.7GHz Intel Core i5, 27" iMac with 4GB Ram. When I power up the computer everything goes great, but after 3 or 4 hours (top) the internet connection stops working; and by this I DO NOT MEAN that the network utility turns off, or that it doesn't detect any netwoks. On the contrary,  the computer stays connected to the wi-fi network and detects everything, but it simply has no internet connection; it even stops communicating with my iphone through itunes (with the wi-fi sync option), and crashes LAN games when i try to play at home. When this occured for the first times I just turned off and back on the network utility, but the problem continued and I had to keep turning off and on the network (it wouldn't stay connected for more than 5 minutes). I  checked with my laptop (the last alluminum macbook ever available, as well as with my mom's black macbook) when the internet stopped working in the iMac (just to check that there were no issues regarding my ISP) and the internet connection just worked great in it, and it didn't drop at all! It also worked perfectly with my dad's windows XP dinosaur laptop.
At the beggining I thought my wi-fi router had gone bad, so I changed it for a brand new wireless-n ready router (it turned out that i wasted 180 dollars, because this wasn't the issue, and I had already trashed my old router). At first, I used the wireless-n feature, but other gadgets stopped working with this type (a play station 3 and a nintendo wii). I then configured it with a mixed mode, and everything has worked perfectly (including both macbooks, an ipad 2, an iphone 4s, 4 blackberries, a play station 3, a nintendo wii, 2 network printers, 1 network scanner, a 3TB network hard disk and 3 led tvs that come network ready, along with their respectives network ready surround soundbars).... EXCEPT FOR MY IMAC! So DEFINETELY MY ROUTER IS NOT THE PROBLEM.
I've been an avid apple user for almost 10 years now, and this is the first time I encounter this type of problem (it's my first iMac), so I'm pretty much out of logical options. I've already moved my router closer to the computer, I moved my wi-fi connection to the top of the list in the network utility.
I even had to re-write this whole message again because i clicked on "Post message" and it had no internet connection, so it displayed a no-internet alert in my browser.............
    PLEASE! HELP!!!!
PS: all my apple gadgets are always up to date.

    I FINALLY SOLVED THIS ISSUE!!!!
New routers have "mixed" modes for your network; this means that it will automatically choose the best option between wireless-B, wireless-G and wireless-N network modes. I used to experience this issue using the 2.4 GHz. mixed mode wireless network.
Thankfully, my router can create 2 networks: a 2.4 GHz. network and a 5 GHz. network.
When I randomly changed this value to "use only wireless-B and wireless-G" trying to fix an issue with a wi-fi expander, the iMac wi-fi  issue dissapeared! I tried it with wireless-N only, but it didn't work.
So, finally, I have a 2.4 GHz network with only wireless-B and wireless-G modes which works PERFECT with the iMac, and a 5 GHz. network with a mixed* wireless mode for everything else mode.
*PD: by "mixed" mode it means that the router will automatically choose between B, G and N network modes as it fits better.

  • Macbook keeps dropping internet connection but other devices are fine???

I work from home & this is making me completely insane. My MacBook will drop the wifi connection constantly, I will be doing things just fine & the all of a sudden I will not be able to load something & any tab/page I have open will be "spiraling" or loading and get frozen up. My gmail contact list will all go to offline and I get a message that gmail lost connectivity.  The bars on the top right of my monitor showing wireless connection will always be there (usually all 5 are dark), and it will say (both under that icon & in System Preferences-Network) that I am connected to my airport extreme.  Sometimes my Skype icon at the top will stay green & logged in, but most of the time it goes grey/offline as well.  I lose connectivity for anywhere from 2 min to 15 min 5-6 times a day (and that is just when I'm on the computer, I'm not on it all day) and then it just spontaneously comes back again.
My husband has a MacBook also & will have no problems even when I am having problems, and my ipad will get on our wifi no problem at the same time, so I know it is not the router/modem.  This computer has been giving me trouble for months, with slow connections previously and then not being able to connect to wifi at my mother's house and then in an apartment we were living in temporarily, but I thought once I was back on my own Airport it would be ok and now it is worse. Firefox doesn't work either, so it is not Safari, although I use Safari primarily & it starts in there (and I got to Firefox to double check & see if I can get online in there which I can't).
I went to the Genius Bar the other day & was beyond frustrated, as the guy 'pinged' google 100 times with no problems, checked settings, ran some diagnostic & visited a few websites, told me nothing was wrong, he didn't know what to tell me and just looked at me like I was crazy, then started messing around on his ipad and ignoring me. When I asked if maybe my computer got infected or corrupted by something he again just stared at me and said there is no known virus for the Mac OS. He gave me NO advice, nothing to look for diagnostially when it occurs again so I feel like I'm at a total loss here. Please help.
On a side note, in the last week or two Safari is also now not saving any of my cookies/passwords/logins for more than a day or two and I have not changed a single setting. Plus I set up gmail 2 step verification b/c I got a notice that my acct had been accessed from another state (I changed password, etc) and it is supposed to remember my computer for 30 days but I have to get the text sent with a new verification code like every other day because it is not remembering me, which is very annoying.
Could these issues all be connected????

    Hi Lisa,
Seems we have a similar problem and it is driving me nuts.
I don't have the password problem, but my connection drops out for 2 minutes and over.
If you bring up the diagnostics window from the prompt on the Safari page, when pages won't load again, it will tell you that everything up to the last 2 options is fine.
I've had the problem ever since I upgraded to the last MacOs, might have been for over a year now.
Since a couple of weeks I actually found that when no page is loading at all, go to the search field in the top bar of Safari. (my default is Google) it will actually bring up the Google page, then open just any other page and usually that will let you continue to browse the internet untill it plays up again.
I know it is very annoying but untill a fix or a solution this will have to be the way for me to work around it.
Finding the time to reinstall Lion is probably the best option.
Hopefully someone else does have a better solution for the time being.

  • IPhone WIFI works on every other network but not my home network?

Im using an IPhone 3G and it seems that I can connect to every network but my home network. It says that I'm connected on my WIFI settings but then I'm still not able to access safari or anything else.
I have another Iphone and it works well with my home network and is able to connect. I checked the network settings for my Iphone and the IP address and subnet mask (for the same network) is different from the other Iphone. Plus, for the working iphone, it has the 'router, DNS, search domains' information all filled in, whereas for the iphone that isn't working, its all blank (only the IP adress and the subnet mask is entered)
    Help?

Things to try (each of these has worked for someone, but none has worked for everyone)
Go into Airplane Mode for a couple of minutes
Reset network settings (Settings, General, Reset) and then reboot the phone (Home and Sleep together until the Apple logo appears
    Reboot your wifi router
One person had success by forcing the router to reassign IP addresses
One or two people have had issues with DNS (which would stop you from finding web addresses), and solved them by resetting them in the router
    Hope this helps

with your attenuation I would hope for a connection speed on adsl2+ of about 11mb on a good line with no noise.  at present your noise margin at 8.7db is higher than the normal 6db and if you could get back to normal that would increase your conenction speed

  • I can use the ethernet connection but not the wireless on my Airport Extreme to connect to the internet.

How do I get the wireless to work again? I've turned both the modem and Airport Extreme off and on again. Do I need to do a hard reset on the Extreme?

Thanks for the reply.  I've only powered down all my devices and repowered them.  When I made the switch from cable to Uverse, at some point my old USB printer connected to the Extreme spit out about 8 documents that were in its queue, and nothing since.  I can see it on the network from my Mac, but my wife's PC can't find it (and that's the real problem, if you know what I mean).  I have a new MacBook Pro, and she's running XP SP2 on her PC.  Everything worked fine when I was on cable modem service, but since I've changed to ATT Uverse, I'v had this little issue.  As you can tell, I'm a novice when it comes to networking.
    Thanks again,

  • I bought an I phone 5 in the USA in April. Worked fine until yesterday. will not connect the telephone now. the internet works but not the telephone.

I phone 5 purchased in USA not tied to provider. Brought to Azerbaijan and set up with Elcell - worked good for 3 months - then would not connect the telephone. SIM card OK as it works in other phones.

  • How do I get the iPod on my iPhone for to allow AirPlay with my bluetooth in my car?  The phone will connect but not the iPod in AirPlay.

I am able to connect my iPhone 4 phone to receive and make calls but unable to connect the iPod to Bluetooth using AirPlay. The symbol came up once, I changed it to speakers and the option never appeared again.

"unable to connect the iPod to Bluetooth using AirPlay."
That is correct as this is not what airplay does at all.  Airplay works only with airplay enabled device vis WI-FI ( Apple TV, airport express)
"With AirPlay, you can wirelessly stream videos, music, and photos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to Apple TV (2nd generation) and stream music to AirPlay speakers or receivers, including AirPort Express."

  • The airport only finds other networks than the home network I have used before.  Doesn' help to try to manually add/find this network, it simply doesn't come up.  All other networks in the neighborhood are found though. Doesn't help to reboot either

The airport only finds other networks.  Not the home network which I have used before.
It doesn't help to search for new networks, try to manually search or add the network.  Doesn't
help to turn off/on the airport or even the mac.  Doesn't help to reboot the home network - which is
found and connected on the iPhone and iPad. (and network speed is good enough for many devices).
The network just doesn't come up on the list of available networks.
No chance to update software, since got no internet.

I did some googling and found alot of topics from you on this issue, to me it simply seems like on of the connectors is broken or loose.

  • My IPOD and Macbook Pro both will not connect to the Itunes store through Itunes says no internet connection, but I can connect through safari and I have a internet connection

My IPOD and Macbook Pro both will not connect to the Itunes store through Itunes says no internet connection, but I can connect through safari and I have a internet connection

As I mentioned above, I am not very tech savvy so I have no idea why a wireless protocol would be showing up there, I'm just listing everything I see in hopes that someone might know something I can try. This is why I am asking for help here - I'm not sure what has happened that has made me unable to connect, especially since it seemingly occured while nobody was using the computer.
I guess I should clarify that I'm not a total hillbilly- normally my firewall is set to 'on', but I set it to 'off' to try and troubleshoot the issues here as I was told that sometimes it can interfere with the computer's ability to connect to the internet. If this is not the case and firewall does not affect anything, I will turn it back on while I try to fix this.
I have tried the method you mentioned above a few times - I actually contacted my ISP earlier this week and they recommended resetting the router like that. They didn't mention any known network issues.
