E2500 Wireless Slow

I bought the new E2500 Router about 5 months ago and it was great until one day the wilreless part would not give me any speed at all. I ran a wired test of the router and I would get full 30Mbps speed that I'm supposed to get. So after firmware updates and everything else I took it back and got another one. It has worked great for a month and today it's now doing the same wilress slow down issue. I can run a lan connected test and get full speed. But wireless is bouncing around at 5Mbps~13Mbps. No where near the 30Mbps I'm supposed to be getting. What is causing the wireless to bomb like this?

It will be difficult to have the same actual internet speed for the wired connection and wireless connection. The wireless connection’s link/card speed will be slower compare to the wired link/card speed. As such it will be necessary to optimize the router’s wireless settings so that the wireless computer will have a stable connection. With this the router needs to be in tip top shape; make sure that the router’s firmware is up to date and if needed start from scratch by resetting the router. You can also play around with the router’s wireless settings. Use this tool: http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ to select the best channel that you can set on your router. As for the computer’s wireless adapter; make sure that its drivers has been updated. Place your computer on an elevated area and avoid placing the computer in a glass or metallic surface for it will affect the wireless performance of the adapter.

  • Wireless Slow After Lion

Why did my wireless slow down after Lion.  I have a time capsule with airport express.  After Lion it slowed about 85% on my 13 inch macbook pro.

I have the same issue. From the moment I installed Lion my internetconnection has slowed to a crawl. It affects my (upgraded to Lion)iMac, and my MacBookPro - which is still on Snow Leopard. Both areconnect to a wireless Thompson modem. No problems at all untilupgrading to Lion.
I've tried resetting the modem to factory defaults, and I've tried all 13 modem channels - no joy. It's still crawling.
I'mspitting mad about this becasue it's completely affecting my business, which is mainly done over the internet. Plus my kids are complainingconstantly about no YouTube. In fact anything video/image based is soslow it reminds me of dial up!
Don't get me wrong - I love everything else aboutLion. But slow internet is a massive no no for me. If I don't find asolution in the next few days I'm going back to Snow Leopard.

  • Issues connecting to E2500 wireless

    Hello everyone,
Out of nowhere it seems my E2500 wireless router decided that it didn't want to work anymore so it gave out. I did a few things and managed to get the hardline connection to the router working, but the wifi itself doesn't want to cooperate. All my wireless connected devices are able to recognize the wireless signal but are unable to connect to it, no password prompts or anything.
On a side note, I turned on the guest wifi from the router settings and that works perfectly, but the main wireless connection doesn't.
Any help solving my problem would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info let me know.

    I recommend:
Change the SSID for both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz; and have no special characters and spaces in them.
Have different SSID for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.
Set 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz to WPA2 security and a password which has no special characters and spaces.
Set 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channel to "auto"
Set 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channel width to "auto"
Set 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz protocol to "mixed"
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • E2500 n600 wireless slow

My speed test are slow for wireless. Down load 7.60 upload 5.87      wired     27.54 - 5.61    I've tried unplugging both modem and router. I moved the router up off the floor. This didn't matter. What about the reset button what does that do?

I'm sorry.  I found out that you could have found this information in the manual yourself, or on the web.  You just have to read the manual that came with the router.  It says for you to access the routers web GUI at 192.168.1.1 username blank password 'admin' unless you changed it.  Then you go to the wireless tab and check all your wireless settings.  Then check another tab and see if WMM is enabled or not.   Media Priority is that tab I think.  Let us know.

  • Linksys wireless slows gigabit-connected Mac

I have a gigabit-ethernet LAN connecting from my PowerMac running OSX 10.4.11 to a Dell XPS, a Mac 7600, and HP Laserjet 4200 printer. My cable modem connects to my PowerMac via built-in GBEthernet. IPNetRouter is normally my software router/firewall that connects to the rest of the LAN through a second GBEthernet card in the PowerMac. This wired LAN is very quick. Its only shortcoming is that the Internet connection to the PC and Mac7600 drops out several times a day and I have to disconnect the power on the modem to reset the network. I can live with that.
My problem today is that a new PC Laptop that is 802.11n wireless ready has been added to the mix. I'm a GBEthernet jock who knows virtually nothing about wireless communications. We're now using a Linksys 2.4Ghz wireless router that is 802.11g to connect to the PC laptop. To accomplish this, we have made the Linksys the router/firewall. The cable modem now connects directly to the Linksys WAN port. The Linksys also has four 10/100 Ethernet ports. One of these ports is connected to a GB Ethernet port on an 8 port Netgear GBEthernet switch that connects to the rest of the LAN. All cables are Monster cables Cat 6. My PowerMac, which previously was the gateway/firewall machine, is now connected via its built-in GBEthernet port directly to the Netgear LAN switch. The PowerMac's second Ethernet card and software router are turned off and disconnected from the network.
This works fine. The Dell XPS ethernet connection is fast enough, but not as fast as when it was getting its signals via GB Ethernet. What does NOT work fine is my PowerMac's Internet connection. It is as slow as a telephone connection or worse. I was hoping for Ethernet 10/100 speed, but I'm not getting it.
Now for the questions: If I replace the Linksys with an Airport Extreme base station (that has a GB Ethernet WAN port and internal switch instead of the LInksys' 10/100 WAN port and internal switch) is my Internet performance on the PowerMac likely to improve? Does anyone know why I'm getting such slow Internet access with the current configuration? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Can you access the Internet if you connect your Mac, via an ethernet cable, to one of your Linksys router's LAN ports instead of wireless? Be sure to turn off the Airport card on your Mac and setup your Built-in Ethernet.
You access your network settings as follows: System Preferences > Network > Show > Network Status > Built-in Ethernet > Configure > TCP/IP
If your router is providing DHCP service (default), then the following values (or close approximate) should display on the TCP/IP tab:
    Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    IP Address: 192.168.1.n
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Router: 192.168.1.1
If the IP address reads something like 169.n.n.n, then your Mac is not getting the DHCP private addresses. If this is the case, try clicking on "Renew DHCP Lease" to see if your Mac get assigned a proper address.

  • Is it possible to use Airport Express to extend my Cisco E2500 wireless network

    Hi everyone,
I just bought the new 2012 Airport Express yesterday, and want to extend my network which is using Cisco E2500 via the Ethernet port, but I don't know how to do it, anyone can tell me if it is possible and how to do it?

Hi Bob, I have successfully extend my Cisco E2500 network using the 2012 Airport Express via Ethernet port, below is the things I have configured.
    1. Inside AirPort Utility - Wireless Tab, choose "Create a wireless network" in the Network Mode option, use the same Wireless Network Name, Wireless Security, Wireless Passowrd as the Cisco E2500.
    2. In the Internet Tab, I just choose using DHCP since the Cisco E2500 will be the one to distribute IP Address, then the IP address, subnet mask, router address and DNS servers address has been assigned successfully to Airport Express.
    3. In Network Tab, use "Off (Bridge Mode)" for the Router Mode option.
    4. Click Update, and let the Airport Express to update itself and restart.
All done, and all my devices in different part of my house can access the internet connection, also my iMac in the living room and airplay music to the speaker that connect to my Airport Express inside the bedroom.

  • Wireless slowed to a crawl

    Hiya there
A few days ago (around midnight) by BT Home Hub restarted a few times, I though nothing of it I was watching a movie at the time and i just assumed it was an update to the firmware.
The next morning I turned on my computer (which is connected via cable) and all was fine and thought no more of the issue, later though my daughter came down saying her wireless connection was not working.  I have taken a look at it the signal is all green bars but the connection keeps going on and off and when on is painfully slow I though perhaps i had better investigate so i turned on my Play station (also wireless connected) and got the same problem, On-line gaming is a no no simply connecting at such a slow painful speed that it isn't worth it, it cant even get on-line half the time.
Has anyone any ideas what the issue might be ?
    Andy

    Hi ZooBurner,
Thanks for posting. Have you tried changing the wireless channel? I suspect it might have changed when the hub reset so you might need to "tune it in" so to speak. Have a look at this link

I've noticed that my wireless has slowed down.
I ran a speed test and am recieving download speeds of about 0.7...whereas my housemates are getting around 15-20mb
I've realised that this has happened each time that ive installed Arch, where suddenly my internet becomes slow.
I'm using rt2870 drivers for my ew7717un usb.
My wireless has been working fine beforehand but is slow all of a sudden and i dont remember changing anything. Im using KDE also.
Please can you help me...and any advice regarding posting logs, extra details etc.

  • Wireless slow in Arch2010.05/Ubuntu10.04 but fast in Windows 7

    Hi all,
    First time writer.
I've recently purchased a new laptop: Lenovo G550, Intel Wireless 5100AGN. On it I first installed Ubuntu 10.04 along side Windows 7 and immediately I noticed that while Windows on average upholds a download speed of 435 kb/s Ubuntu would only pull about 80kb/s through the wire. I tested on another laptop and sure enough the speed was 435 kb/s there as well. I installed Arch instead of Ubuntu and installed the this firmware:
    core/iwlwifi-5000-ucode 8.24.2.12-2
        Intel wireless firmware for Intel's 5100BG, 5100ABG, 5100AGN, 5300AGN and 5350AGN wireless devices
But the speed was still slow. I tried enabling the testing-repo and updated everything incl. the kernel, but the speed remains painfully slow.
Its an open unencrypted network which I connect to using netcfg and this simple profile:
    CONNECTION='wireless'
    DESCRIPTION='Home'
    INTERFACE='wlan0'
    SECURITY='none'
    ESSID='wireless'
    IP='dhcp'
I've spent several days trying to sort out this issue and have no more tricks up my sleeve, help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lau

    I have also 5100agn, ipv6 disabled.
    G mode - 30mbps - download speed
N mode   < 10 mbps download speed, 40mbps upload. I don't know how fix this N mode is very slow.
    Under winXP - G same, N ~ 80mbps
    You can try add
    options iwlagn 11n_disable=0 11n_disable50=1
    to modprobe.conf, it's ugly solution

  • Wireless slowed down, AP LAN interface txload 255/255

    Hello
Just built up a new office network, have 5 2602i controlled by a 5508 on FlexConnect local switching mode. One day ago when I tested my wirless, I can got full speed, about 40M, but today, after some 40-50 staff moved in, no configuration is changed, but I can only get 4-5M on speed test when connecting on wirless,  but at the same time when connected on cable number, still got full speed, so not an internet link issue.
I checked around, only odd thing I noticed, is that all my 5 APs LAN port, int g0, showed txload 255/255, alrought very low bps and pps on the port.

how could I got txload 255/255 whne there was only 1k bps output?
suspect this is the reason slowed down my wireless, but why, and how can I fix it?
    thanks a lot.

the txload 255/255 is on a AP's G0 port, not on the connected 4500 switch port.

  • E2500 Wireless Causing Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with My Company's VPN (AT&T Net Client)

Since recently replacing my home router with a Linksys E2500, I have been getting Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with my Company's VPN (AT&T).  It only happens when I am running wireless with my E2500.  If I am hooked up to my E2500 through a ethernet cable it doesn't happen.  I have updated the BIOS on my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 and ensured all of my drivers are up to date.  I am  99.9% sure the problem is caused by my Linksys E2500 because I have used my laptop on other wireless routes at work and school and never get this problem.  I am also ensured that my E2500 has the current firmware installed and upgraded my Company's VPN to the most current level to no avail.
I am getting DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL Blue Screen of Death in agnfilt.sys.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The symptoms you describe could be symptomatic of a variety of things to include hardware/software issues, overheating caused by a failed processor fan, bad memory (RAM), failing or underpowered power supply, CPU overheating, motherboard, video card, faulty or unsigned device drivers, CMOS battery going bad, BIOS and firmware problems, dirty hardware components, programs hanging or unresponsive in the background, and even malware. If the computer is overheating, it usually begins to shutdown/restart on a more regular basis.
If the machine is only crashing at home after establishing a connection but not at work when establishing a connection, then its probably an issue with your network configuration or something (i.e. wireless adapter) causing a conflict and not a malware issue.
The DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error is usually due to a bad driver or faulty/incompatible hardware or software. This error condition means that a kernel-mode process or driver tried to access a memory location to which it did not have permission, or at a kernel Interrupt ReQuest Level (IRQL) that was too high.

  • Wireless slow since Lion upgrade

Is anyone else finding that their wireless is slow after updating to Lion?  My desktop is plugged in and fine which leads me to believe it's not Comcast but my laptop, iphone and apple tv all of the sudden are not working well.  Especially the apple tv.  Did something change in the update that would affect the wireless router?

I use only wifi, and my laptop is fine.
Have you noticed any new wireless networks popping up in your area?
Wireless networks can be slowed down by interference.
Eg: If you have new neighbours, and they recently added a wireless network which is close enough to your network, they will interfere with each other.

  • WRT54GC wireless slow at computer startup

I have a Mac, and when I first start it and "attempt" to use the internet, it is extremely slow. Wired ethernet is fine. There's a clear line of sight to the WRT54GC and only 5 feet away, not to mention the external antenna I bought for it. I have a vonage router hooked up to it, but performance is the same (after turning everything off, then back on) with it connected or not, and again the wired is fine. I used iStumbler to find any other wifi hot spots in the area and there are 2 with weak signals and both on channel 6, I'm on 11. I use MAC address filtering to keep only my Mac, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii on it, no others allowed. Even when I try to access the router's OS (via 192.168.1.1) that can take MINUTES to load, so it is not an ISP problem. After using it for a while it speeds up slightly, but never to the speed of wired. Any and all solutions are welcome.
    Dan

Well, the wireless will always give a lower speed as compared to the wired connection. You can try a few changes in the wireless settings
    Channel -- 1 or 9
    Under "advanced wireless settings"
    Beacon Interval  : 50
    Frag Threshold   : 2306
    RTS  Threshold   : 2307
If this does not work even, look for the firmware of the router. If it is less than 1.02.8, upgrade the firmware.

  • HomeHub3 Wireless Slow

I've been using BT Infinity since last October and up until now i've been very impressed. Lately i've been getting a lot of wireless connection issues.
I have one machine connected over ethernet, two (one PC and one Mac) wirelessly as well as two iPhones. The machine that's connected via cable constantly gets a steady 35-40mbps which is fantastic, however all machines that are connected wirelessly get anything from between 1 and 5mbps download.
I've read other posts on this forum and have followed their advice. I monitored our local wireless traffic and found an unused channel (channel 3) which I fixed the HomeHub on to. I also changed the wireless protocol from b/g/n to just b/g, none of these helped. I then moved the HomeHub to a completely different location in the house, which also didn't help.
While doing these tests i'm sat about 1 metre away from the HomeHub without anything in the way.
Any ideas? I'm reluctant to buy a different router as I'd quite like to keep my access to BT Fon so i'd like to keep that as a definite last resort.

I thought you had to have Fon enabled on your home router in order to use other Fon hotspots? Is that no longer the case? If so then I may just go out and buy a new router after all.
Thanks for the link. I understand that wireless is always going to be slower than Ethernet and that's perfectly fine, but it should be way faster than the shaky 5mbps i'm getting at the moment. My parents have 20mbps broadband using a Netgear wireless router and at their house i get about 15-20mbps over wireless going through a floor and two walls. I'm not even getting half of that and i'm sat 2 feet away from the access point.
I have thought about using the Homeplug devices as I have a couple laying around, but that kinda defeats the object of having wireless in the first place. Both myself and my wife are constantly moving around the house with our laptops so wireless is pretty much a necessity.

  • E2500 - wireless is cutting out intermittently

Can you all explain to me why because my router is 5 months old instead of 3, i have to PAY for support when it is malfunctioning? i think that's absolutely ridiculous & a slap in the fact to your customers.
E2500 and the wireless is cutting out intermittently. I have to run the cisco software every time to fix it and do a hard reset. Firmware is up to date. Chat support informed me to get help with your techs I'd have to purchase a service plan. I don't feel I should have to pay $30-40 to fix a $100 router purchased less than 6 months ago.

How often does it kick devices off the network? Have you done any troubleshooting?
There are many reasons why you experience poor signal or connection. Your intermittent wireless connection has a relation to the kind of setup that you have in your home or office. Is the connection dropping on all wireless computers or just one?
You have mentioned, you set the router to factory defaults and re-configured it. Did you try changing the channel on the router to 1, 6, 9 or 11? There could be an interference with other wireless devices in the network (cordless phone, microwave etc.) since they work on the same frequency. Try this and see if that helps.
